Max pouts into the screen as it lights up, Adam's face reflected back at him, amused. "I cannot believe you," he says. "All that bullshit about my hair. I'm so mad at you."
Adam shrugs, his lips twitching up helplessly. "Hey, it's been pent up for awhile. A guy can only take so many scrawny shoulder comments, you know?"
"Never meant anything by it," Max says, pout still on his face. But now his eyes are wide and sincere, Adam equally amused and touched by how determined he is to prove it.
"I know," he says. "I know you don't, Max. I didn't mean anything by it either. I love your curls."
Max hums and settles back against his pillows, shifting around. "I miss you," he says. "Kinda sucks we finally get you back in the ring and I can't be there to see your first match back."
"I know," Adam says quietly. "I'm kinda nervous. I'm probably going to suck."
"Nah," Max says. "You? That's impossible. You'll get in there and kick ass like always. Especially considering the prize waiting for you at the end." He smirks, motioning towards himself, and Adam rolls his eyes, huffing out a laugh.
"Oh yeah. How badly are you going to cheat against me when I do?" he wonders.
"Ah, you know," Max says cheerfully. "Just the usual amount. Nothing for you to concern your pretty little head about."
"Right," Adam drawls, fond in his exasperation. "So how long do you think this round of filming will take?"
"Don't really know," Max says, stretching. His smirk grows as Adam clearly enjoys the view, what of it he can see on the unfortunately small screen. "I'll definitely be back in time for Full Gear though. Gotta show those Jersey crowds what for, right?"
Adam chuckles. "Yeah, sure, Max," he hums, curling up under his sheets, glancing around the hotel room. "Talk tomorrow after I get home? See if Piper wants in on the video call this time."
Max sighs. "My girl, always so temperamental when Daddy has to go away for awhile. Yeah, I'd like that."
Adam smiles. "Alright. Talk then. Good night, Max. Love you."
Max stares into the camera, eyes soft. "Love you too, BayBay. Good night."
Upon hanging up, Adam falls asleep shortly afterwards with a smile on his face.
