Kai POV: It took a month to get out of the braces, and for Zane to say that I was healthy. But now I was good to go. Sure, I was still a bit stiff and sore sometimes, but I'm positive that it will go away. At least that's what Zane told me. Lloyd and Nya were still being cautious despite me reassuring them. Though I can't be mad about that since they were there through the worst of it.
But I did feel so good in the morning in my actual room. Not the med-bay or a cot of any kind. I sat up and did a big stretch. Of course, my shoulder was a little stiff, but it wasn't too bad. I got on my feet and was happy to feel my leg wasn't. That means that I've almost got my strength. Maybe they'll let me train today, or at least exercise in some way.
I walked out and headed to the kitchen. It was a little later than I usually wake up. But I was still earlier than the others. Except maybe Zane, but I could still help him with breakfast. To my surprise he, Lloyd, and Nya were there together. Cooking something that smelled good. I saw that it was pancakes and bacon. A favorite that we all shared and enjoyed, and a great start to the day.
"Need any help?" I asked, making both Lloyd and Nya jump before looking at me. Of course Zane didn't.
"Kai! When did you get here?" Lloyd responded, and I laughed a little.
"I just did. Sorry about surprising you." I said, and Nya laughed too.
"As for your question. We're almost done, so please relax at the table." Zane answered, and I nodded.
But as I sat down I noticed that both of them seemed a little disappointed as they started to set the table. I had to ask, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, don't worry about it." Nya tried to reassure me. But she was really bad at hiding things that bothered her.
Instead of saying something I just gave her a look until she finally sighed loudly. That's when Lloyd revealed, "Well, we were planning on bringing you breakfast in bed. Since you're still benched and all. But you woke up early."
"Oh sorry about that." I said. But thank everything that I woke up when I did. I hate eating in my room, but as if I'll let them feel guilty about forgetting that.
After a short while Jay and Cole joined us as Zane placed the food on the table. And as always, his food was extremely good. Everyone was quiet as we devoured the food, and honestly it was really nice that things were finally back to normal.
"So, Zane. Is Kai going to be joining us in training today?" Jay asked, as the first one to finish.
"As much as I would like to say yes. He should not do any exercise until his strength is better." He explained.
All of us groaned at this, and it surprised me a little. I guess I wasn't the only one hoping for that. But at the same time I remembered my promise. So, despite all of my complaints, I kept my mouth shut and took another bite. Jay seemed shocked by this.
"Did you seriously not argue with him? Are you really Kai?" He said dramatically. I gave him a look while everyone laughed. Though, soon I rolled my eyes and laughed along with them.
"At least you won't have to wait much longer. A couple more days and you're free." Nya said, nudging my shoulder.
"I'm counting down the minutes." I said, and nudged her back.
"You and I both. But at least I can still beat you in video games." Lloyd said, and scoffed at that.
"As if you can get that lucky." I responded, and he stuck his tongue out at me.
We continued eating as Jay started on the dishes. He realized his mistake of being first too late. It was a mistake that he made often, just like Cole. "Can someone else please do the dishes next time? The last three times was me."
"Don't worry. I'm sure that Cole will beat you next time." Lloyd teased, and Cole gave him a shocked look.
"How dare you. When was the last time you did them?" Cole responded, crossing his arms along with Jay.
But Lloyd just shrugged with a smirk before taking another bite. Nya and I shared a look before I rolled my eyes. She said, "I think that you two could help him when you're done. Just to be fair."
Cole groaned and Lloyd said, "Why me? I'm just sitting here innocently."
"It has been close to two months since you were done eating first. I do believe that it would be fair for you to help as well." Zane added. Lloyd groaned and laid his head on the table.
I chuckled a little and continued to eat since they were going to keep arguing. but, to my surprise, Lloyd just simply groaned and kept eating. And he actually got up to help Jay once he was done.
"Nice job carrying the team." I commented, getting a laugh out of Nya.
"Speaking of carrying. You know- Ow." Jay tried to say, but Lloyd stepped on his toe. What the heck?
"Dude, we weren't going to say anything." Lloyd said, and Jay, who must have realized something, started to laugh nervously.
"Okay, what are you hiding?" I asked, staring at Jay and Lloyd. They are the easiest to break.
"Nothing. You don't need to worry about it." Lloyd said, not facing me. But he was now stiff while he worked. His tell-tale sign that he was hiding something. Same with Jay, just with more nervous noises. And Nya and Cole were suddenly very interested in their food.
Then Zane, who was confused by them, said, "You have not told Kai that Cole had to carry him in the bridal style?"
"What?! You did?!" I yelled, and Nya tried to comfort me.
"I'm sorry, but what else was I supposed to do? You were unconscious." Cole defended himself. At least he wasn't hiding it.
"You didn't have to use the most embarrassing thing." This is the worst thing to know. It's worse than an infected lung and broken leg.
"Dude, I couldn't just carry you on my back. Not with your leg like that." I wish that he didn't make that logical response.
I groaned loudly and pulled a Lloyd, and placed my head on the table. All while Nya said, "You'll be okay. We don't think any less of you. Though you might have to deal with a bit of teasing."
I groaned again, not raising my head. I never want to deal with drills ever again.
