I wish I hadn't got involved with any of it. I wouldn't have if it wasn't for Lori and Judith. I deserved to have time with my daughter and Rick wasn't going to allow that.
So I needed the money and the help from Negan so I could see Judith. I was now getting one weekend a month with my daughter, but that wasn't enough. This asshole was only going to help me if I did what he said. I felt bad about the whole thing.
Judith deserves to know her father; I was willing to do whatever it took to make it happen.
"I'm sorry about Philip," Sasha said, pulling me back into reality.
"You know him and Andrea?" I asked, curious. Sasha had just moved into my neighborhood and now we were partners at work. Philip had paid me a little money to move in but I didn't know her actual relationship with him.
"I am guessing Andrea is his latest victim. I don't know her. Every since Philip lost his wife he hasn't been right." Sasha said, taking my hand.
I didn't feel any spark or anything like that. But I did like the way her hand felt in mine.
" But he is your adoptive brother?" I said, walking with her hand still in mine.
"Well, his mother was best friends with my biological mother. Her name is Natalie and she used to take all my family photos. She was my godmother and when my parents died in an airplane crash, I ended up living with her. I do call her mom. But she isn't my mom. So yes, Philip is my adoptive brother and I know him enough not to like him. His wife died and his daughter died in a car accident, since then he has been trying to replace his family. That Andrea girl actually looks like a younger version of his wife," she says, for the first time actually telling about her life.
"He doesn't sound that bad. He lost his family; it's understandable that he wants to meet someone." I said logically.
"That part I understand. You would have to know him and his family. They use money and power to try and buy people. You can't buy people." She said, her brown eyes looking into mine.
"Sasha, people are brought all the time," I argued as we approached the police car.
"Well, I can't be bought. I promise you that," she said, sounding like a total badass. I admired her, going her own way when she could easily live off the millions her adoptive family had.
"Can at least buy you dinner? Maybe we can talk about other things besides families or politics," I suggest.
I knew hooking up with Sasha wasn't part of my plan but she is beautiful, and I clearly have the opportunity.
"Yes Shane, you can do that. But only if it's McDonald's," she says, laughing. I knew then that whoever ended up with Sasha would be lucky. She really is the most laid-back girl.
