Prologue
Planet Tamaran, located on Vega system. Earth-sized, two continents (East X'haldor and West X'haldor), over fifty islands, three oceans. Some of the islands are as large as medium-sized cities, while others are very small. Both continents have large forests, lakes and rivers. While some of the vegetation is green like Earth's, there are also pink and blue forests. Some types of wood are brown, others are red, yellow and teal.
The dominant race is known as kalant, consisting in gold-skinned (or orange skinned, depending on the region), solid green or blue (rarely red or orange) eyes human-like individuals, who are able to fly, by default. The language is the same for both continents, but there are some differences in vocabulary. Each continent have north and south dialects.
East Xhaldor is a monarchic city-state ruled by queen Luand'r and King Myand'r. The queen is going to give birth to her first child, a girl whom their parents decided to call Komand'r. The occasion is being heavily celebrated, as the child is the frist princess born over a hundred years.
Meanwhile, on West X'Haldor, a republic ruled by the prime minister Kolyast'r, it's a beautiful sunny day over the verdant hills surrounding the city of Kysarr. A purple mammal, loosely resembling an antelope (but slimmer), drinks the water of a nearby river, while an eagle-sized green, four-winged bird hovers over the hills and the city, beside a group of six-winged dragonflies, twice as large as those on Earth.
Suddenly, an immense shadow covers the hills, scaring the animals. A peasant looks up and finds that it's a spaceship of the Citadel Empire blocking the sunlight. The spaceship flies toward the city. And opens fire. Buildings are destroyed. Citizens run in terror. A voice coming from the ship's sound system says the attack was a celebration of Komand'r birth. "Greetings from princess Komand'r of East X'haldor" is the last thing the inhabitants of Kysarr hear before the bombs are dropped.
