Cracking the Precursor Stone
Chapter 1
I do not own Jak and Daxter or any of their incarnations, but will forever be grateful for their existence!
The Baron had the Stone, and the Baron was getting away.
Daxter and the others were somewhere above being captured by the Krimson Guard and Jak started to feel his world crumble.
The Baron laughed from his damaged aircraft, "I told you, Jak. This war is mine. These people are mine. You are mine!"
He had already used up almost all his dark eco reserves in the fight, but the boiling rage inside him was frothing at the bit. Eco or no, he was going to kill the Baron.
Continuing to laugh at the elf on his knees, the Baron gloated, "And your friends? Well, they are already being escorted to my prison. Even that redhead that follows you everywhere like a shadow. How does it feel? Knowing you sealed his fate?"
Yet, he didn't have the strength. Even after everything the Baron had done to him, and he still wasn't strong enough.
The craft circled him, and the Stone glittered in the torchlight and caught his eye.
But the Precursors were.
That Stone was supposed to be the most powerful thing on the planet. If Jak had it, then nothing… Nothing could stop him.
"Now…" The Baron chuckled at his prey, "Any last words before I finally put you out of your misery?"
Despite all odds, even with so little dark eco left in him, Jak's wrath latched onto every last drop of it and somehow amplified it tenfold. Sparks of eco lashed off his skin and he was sprinting faster than he ever had straight towards the aircraft. Even before the Baron could withdraw, Jak was airborne, launching himself an impossible distance and latching his claws into the front of the machine.
Furious, the Baron screamed at him, "Get off of me you, abomination! You have lost! Just give it up!"
"No." Dark Jak growled out, "I haven't."
Then without second thought, Jak bit down on the glowing green Stone. For a second the Baron just watched him wide-eyed, stunned that this fool thought he could ever hope to pierce the Stone when he himself had spent months creating a device just for that very purpose. During that first second, nothing happened, but then somehow, despite all odds, on the next second, Jak's enhanced and elongated canines cracked through the surface. The third second began with a blinding piercing light and ended with the Baron watching in horror as his failed experiment went flying backwards across the room, with the Precursor Stone still between his jaws.
"No!"
The Baron was hysterical. How could this be happening?! He was so close! He had it! That… That freak had stolen his victory! Directing his craft to hover over the dark void, Praxis frantically searched for any sign of his treasured stone. Then suddenly, out of the darkness came a massive, clawed purple hand that grabbed the Baron's machine in an iron grip.
"What the?!"
As Praxis tried to regain control over the situation, he quickly realized that a giant demonic creature was attached to that limb and in his jaws, now relatively tiny, was the fractured Precursor Stone. The green gem was oozing a glowing liquid, and the monster was all too eagerly sucking it down. Then, to the Baron's utmost horror, the beast tilted its head back and dropped the remaining fragments into the back of his throat and swallowed them. Long tongue licked dark lips before suddenly the monster's attention became solely fixed on the prey in his grasp.
Praxis felt his heart race as the thing smiled darkly at him, "Your turn, Baron."
So, it was true, Jak, his greatest failure and greatest success had become this horrific creature as a result of eating the Precursor Stone. Stunned into a catatonic-like state, the ruler of Haven City barely even registered how easily it was for Jak's lethal claws to pry open his craft. Moments later, the Baron's machine was being tossed away like a broken toy and he was being held firmly in the demon's grasp.
Jak gave a final cruel smile before soundly biting the Baron's head clean off. Praxis' lifeless body dropped into the nearby water. Amphibious fodders were already swarming the corpse when Jak spit the Baron's skull in their direction. Watching the man who had haunted so many of his nightmares get torn to pieces by the subterranean monsters felt more than a little satisfying.
Feeling another wave of energy come from his stomach, Jak felt his vision spin. He fell to the ground.
Daxter… He needed to find Daxter…
A/N: Well, here's my first foray into the JnD fandom. I've been working on another massive fic for months when this little plot bunny distracted me. So, I indulged it and it kind of turned into a monster, which admittedly is pretty par for the course when it comes to me. Oh well. I've always been fascinated by Giant Dark Jak and yet there's so little fics about him. This is the result. Thanks for reading!
