Ran and Makoto had both received an invitation to a Mixed Martial Arts Tournament for the elite in Japan, and with the wishes of luck from Conan and Sonoko, they both left for it.
But neither contact Conan nor Sonoko nor their families when they reach their destination for 5 days, and then on the television premiers the tournament, and to the shock of the audience, all fighters are wearing electric collars, and those who refuse to fight will be electrocuted to death, and so will those who lose if the winner did not kill them.
It was a fight to survive, a fight-to-death tournament. And Ran and Makoto knew deep down that they would die in the end if they won and faced each other because they wouldn't fight each other.
It was a race against time for Conan, Sonoko, and all those who cared about both Ran and Makoto, to save them from the inevitable death.
