Clark and Oliver sat in the bleachers of the school watching the football game that was going on. The rain was pouring down and the game was getting intense. "So how has everything been going with Matt? You've been spending a lot of time in Metropolis" Clark asked Oliver.
Oliver nodded. "Yea I'm just getting to know him and finding out about my father" he lied. Him and Matt were training but he wasn't telling his family that. He didn't want to hear about how dangerous it was. He figured once he took over as Green Arrow there was nothing they could really do about it. They had to accept it. Whitney had just got tackled and Clark watched as the coach yelled at him.
"Wow he's kind of intense" Clark said.
Oliver looked over at his former coach. "Coach Walt? He can be kind of intense but that's only because he wants to win" Oliver said.
Clark looked at his brother. "Do you miss it" he asked.
Oliver shrugged his shoulders. "Sometimes I guess but I left my legacy now it's time for other people to leave theirs" Oliver said. Oliver looked over at Clark. He wrapped an arm around Clark and pulled him closer. "Besides I get to sit here in the rain watching a game that I love with my favorite brother. What could be better then that" Oliver asked.
Clark pulled Oliver's arm off him. "I don't know being out on the field" Clark said sadly.
Oliver looked over at his little brother. "Clark you know why you can't play" Oliver said.
Clark nodded. "Yea because I'm an alien freak who can't control his powers" Clark said.
"Dad's just trying to protect you" Oliver said.
Clark sighed. "I know" he said. The crows scored the winning point and everyone in the audience cheered.
Coach Walt poured water over heated rocks which caused green colored steam to rise from the rocks. He bent over and sniffed the steam. He walked over to a bench and put the ladle he was holding into a bucket that was sitting there. He sat down on the bench next to the bucket. He leaned back and sighed. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. "Come on in" Coach Walt said. Oliver walked in. Coach Walt smiled and stood up. "Kent? How's my favorite Quarterback doing" Coach Walt asked walking over to Oliver.
Oliver smiled at him and shook his hand. "I'm good. I just wanted to congratulate you on a good game tonight" he said.
Coach Walt shook his head. "That? That was nothing compared to what we did together when you were actually playing" Coach Walt said walking over to the poster he had hanging on his wall of him and Oliver.
"I can't believe you still have that thing" Oliver said.
Coach Walt nodded. "Of course I do. I make all of my players watch your plays and study the way you played. You even rivaled your father" Coach Walt said.
Oliver laughed and shook his head. "I don't know about that" he said.
Coach Walt grabbed his shoulders. "Trust me Kent. You're the best football player this school has seen in the 25 years I've been teaching. No one can hold a candle to you" Coach Walt said.
"Well I had a great Coach" Oliver said.
"We made a great team. Too bad you aren't suiting up to play" he said.
"I think that would be kind of unfair to have a 21 year old former student playing high school football" Oliver said.
Coach Walt nodded. "Of course" he said. A thought came to his mind. He smiled at Oliver.
Oliver smiled back at him. "What is it Coach" he asked.
"I've got an idea. What if you became my assistant coach" Coach Walt asked.
Oliver looked at him shocked. "Me? I don't really think…" Oliver started to say but Coach Walt grabbed Oliver and moved him to face the poster of the two of them on the wall.
"Come on Kent. There's no one better to help me whip these players into shape then my star player. We make a great team. Walt and Kent. Just imagine it. It'd be like old times. So what do you say" Coach Walt asked.
Oliver did have to admit it did sound good to be back on the field again even if it was going to be as an assistant coach. He looked at his old coach. "When you put it like that how can I say no" Oliver said.
Coach Walt excitedly hugged Oliver. "This is great Kent. We're going to do great things together" he said. Just then there was a knock on the office door. "Come in" Coach Walt said. Principal Kwan walked into the office. "Principal Kwan. What brings you here" Coach Walt asked.
"We need to talk" Principal Kwan said. He looked over at Oliver. "Oliver Kent. What are you doing here" Principal Kwan asked.
"I was just congratulating Coach Walt on the game tonight. I should get going. My brother's waiting for me" he said. He started to walk to the door. He turned around and looked at his old coach. "See you tomorrow Coach" Oliver said.
Coach Walt shook his head. "Call me Walt" he said.
Oliver nodded. "See you tomorrow…Walt" Oliver said.
"See you tomorrow Kent" Coach Walt said. Oliver walked out of the office and down the hall. He smiled to himself. This was incredible. Not only was he in training to become the new Green Arrow but now he was going to be back on the football field as a coach. Things were looking up for him. He knew coming back to Smallville and moving back home was going to be a good thing.
