Episode Twenty-Eight: The Breaking Point

The Sky Patrol rolls forward through the arid terrain of Efrika, about 10 miles from Axel's Egg Army base. Inside the command center of the Sky Patrol, Sally sits at the helm, her hands tightly gripping the controls. Her face remains stone-cold, her eyes fixed on the horizon, ignoring the buzz of the rest of the team behind her.

* Rotor: (looking at the radar) "We're almost there. If Axel and his Egg Army are waiting for us, they'll be right over that ridge."

* Knuckles: (clenching his fists) "Let's make sure they don't get the jump on us this time."

* Sonic: (stepping forward) "We've got this. We need to get Venus out of there, no matter what."

* Moon: (with determination) "Right! No matter what, we're bringing her home."

The mood is tense, everyone prepared for the upcoming battle. Even though they've all been through countless fights before, the weight of Sally's recent actions still lingers in the air. Sonic steals a glance at the Princess, concern etched on his face.

* Sonic: (thinking) "Something's gotta give..."

The Sky Patrol slows to a halt a half-mile away from the Egg Army base. Everyone on board prepares themselves for battle, with Sailor Moon and Jupiter adjusting their tiaras, and Knuckles readying his fists. Silver stands by, his Chaos abilities humming just beneath the surface, while Sonic cracks his knuckles, trying to keep his focus.

The side door of the Sky Patrol opens, and Sonic, Sailor Moon, Sailor Jupiter, Knuckles, and Silver exit onto the ground. They sprint toward the base, intent on taking it down this time. The Egg Army, alerted to their presence, immediately opens fire.

* Sonic: (dodging plasma fire) "Alright, here we go again!"

"Jupiter… Thunder... CRASH!"

A huge bolt of lightning rips through the air, frying a row of Egg Soldiers in an instant. Silver hurls several more into the sky with a powerful wave of Chaos energy.

* Knuckles: (charging forward) "No holding back!"

The fight is long and fierce. Sonic blitzes through the Egg Soldiers at blinding speeds, while Knuckles wades through their ranks, smashing through waves of them with devastating punches. Sailor Moon gracefully attacks from afar, using her Moon Tiara Action to strike down enemies. Silver expertly manipulates his Chaos abilities to hurl chunks of debris and blast away Egg Soldiers, while Sailor Jupiter continues launching powerful lightning attacks, keeping the enemy forces at bay.

Just when it looks like the heroes are gaining the upper hand, a deep rumbling echoes through the air. The ground shakes, and from the depths of the base, Axel's massive Egg Beetle mech emerges.

* Axel: (from the cockpit) "You thought you could win? Think again, Freedom Fighters!"

The Egg Beetle charges forward, its legs crushing the ground beneath it. Sonic dodges, flipping out of the way of a plasma cannon blast.

* Sonic: "Looks like we've got ourselves a bigger problem!"

The heroes regroup, readying themselves for the much tougher battle ahead. The Egg Beetle's plasma cannons unleash a barrage of powerful energy beams, forcing the group to scatter.

* Moon: "We need to hit that thing from all sides!"

Knuckles nods and charges the Egg Beetle head-on, his fists sparking with green Chaos energy. Axel fires off another cannon shot, but Knuckles punches the blast out of the air and leaps onto one of the Egg Beetle's massive legs.

* Knuckles: "It's gonna take more than that!"

With a roar, Knuckles delivers a crushing punch to the Egg Beetle's leg, the green energy surging from his fists tearing through the mech's armor. Axel grits his teeth inside the cockpit as warning lights begin flashing.

* Axel: "You're tougher than I thought... but you'll still lose!"

Sailor Moon takes advantage of the opening Knuckles created.

"Moon... SPIRAL... HEART… ATTACK!"

Her light blast slams into the Egg Beetle, shaking the entire mech. Axel is rattled inside the cockpit as sparks fly from the controls. A piece of the cockpit falls onto Axel's legs, pinning him in place and snapping his bones with a sickening crack. He lets out a cry of pain.

* Axel: (in agony) "Argh! No... I won't... lose to you!"

Knuckles, Sailor Moon, and the rest of the team pull back, ready to regroup and finish the job. But before they can even blink, laser fire from the Sky Patrol suddenly rains down on the battlefield, aiming directly at Axel and the remains of the Egg Beetle.

* Silver: (eyes widening) "Sally, what are you doing?!"

Sally, her face emotionless, is controlling the Sky Patrol's weapons, intent on obliterating Axel and his mech entirely. Without hesitation, Silver uses his Chaos abilities to deflect the laser fire, pushing it away from Axel and sending it harmlessly into the ground nearby.

* Silver: (shouting) "Sally!"

Everyone turns to look at Sally, confusion and shock written on their faces. Sonic jumps up to the window of the bridge to glare at her, his voice filled with intensity.

* Sonic: "Sally, what the heck are you doing?!"

Sally's cold gaze shifts to Sonic, and her words come out like ice.

* Sally: "Don't tell me you don't want this."

Sonic freezes, unable to respond, as her words hit him harder than any punch. The inner turmoil he's been feeling for so long resurfaces. Sailor Moon and Jupiter share a worried glance before refocusing on the task at hand.

* Moon: "We have to get Venus out of here. Come on!"

The team heads deeper into the base, moving with purpose. After a tense search, they finally locate the capsule containing Sailor Venus. Working together, Knuckles, Sailor Moon, and Sailor Jupiter lift the capsule and carefully extract it from the base.

As they make their way back to the Sky Patrol, the heroes load the capsule inside, relief washing over them. With a few quick inputs, the capsule opens, revealing Sailor Venus inside... fast asleep, with a thin line of drool running down her face.

* Jupiter: (sweatdropping) "Seriously?"
