He parked the Bronco and they took the elevator up to his condo. Jack fumbled with his keys, finally opening the door to his spacious yet distinctly bachelor-style apartment. He stepped aside to let Kate in, breathing in the lingering scent she carried with her—a captivating blend of coconut, almonds, and tropical fruits that evoked memories of sun-soaked beaches and distant islands. Huh. Jack found the fragrance mesmerizing, yet bold, considering their back story with the island. Either way, a perfect match for Kate's vibrant and adventurous spirit.
She entered, peering around and taking in the space that was unmistakably Jack. The living room was generous, with large floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light. It was clean and organized, yet the sparse decor and minimalist furniture revealed it was a man's domain. The living area featured a sleek leather couch, a glass coffee table, and a TV screen.
The desk in the corner of the room was cluttered with papers and medical research, a testament to Jack's dedication to his profession. Stacks of journals, open books, and scribbled notes were scattered across the surface. Hanging above the desk were framed diplomas and awards, alongside photographs of Jack with his father, both wearing long white coats and light blue scrubs, and another one with his mother. These personal touches added warmth to the otherwise utilitarian space, offering glimpses into Jack's life and achievements she only imagined while trying to poke any details out of him on the Island.
The kitchen, though modern and well-equipped, showed little evidence of frequent use beyond the basics, reinforcing the impression of a man who was often too busy to cook elaborate meals, even meager ones. The bedroom door was slightly ajar but showed little of the room Kate felt more curious about right now.
As she walked further into the apartment, her perfume continued to weave through the air, leaving a trail of warmth and exotic allure. Jack couldn't help but smile, the scent making him feel more at home than any piece of furniture or decoration ever could. It was a reminder of why he had brought her here, to share a part of his world with someone who had become so important to it.
"So, this is Jack's famous and safe cave." Kate joked around as she entered his apartment, glancing around with a playful smile, referencing the time when Jack got himself trapped in a collapsing cave back on the island. She had known him only for 7 days, but it was enough time for her to feel like she was losing someone she didn't know until then, she loved.
"This one isn't falling apart. I promise." Jack replied, giving her a confident smile as he closed the door behind them.
Kate took a few steps further into the living room as he watched her move about the space. He closed the door behind them, mesmerized by her relaxed, fluid movements along his most private spaces. She seemed to be floating, teasing nearby surfaces with her fingertips as she breezed by. Jack invited her to sit on the sofa. She smiled and sat down, looking up at him with eyes that would get her anything she wanted. Anything. He placed his keys on the small side table, and while she continued to take in her surroundings, he seized the moment to take a deep breath and relax. He felt the anticipation and excitement running through his body at the thought that the woman he had loved for so long, had asked to come over to share some quality time with him.
"Can I get you something to drink?" Jack offered as he walked towards the kitchen, glancing back at Kate with a warm smile.
"Champagne, maybe?" Kate replied, settling herself comfortably on the sofa.
"Champagne?" Jack turned to look at her with curiosity, raising his eyebrows. "Sure. Be right back."
He retrieved a bottle of sparkling wine that he kept carefully stored for special occasions, and as he removed the wire cage from the cork, he called out so Kate could hear him from the kitchen. "Champagne is to celebrate — What are we celebrating?"
"Us." Kate replied, surprising Jack by stepping in the doorway with a sweet grin on her lips.
Jack's gaze fell to meet her. His heart skipped a beat as he processed her words. They stood in silence for a short moment, eyes locked. A wave of emotions washed over him—warmth, joy, and a profound sense of connection. The fact that Kate wanted to celebrate them— celebrate their love, made his heart swell with happiness and gratitude. He felt a deep sense of validation, realizing that the bond he cherished so deeply was equally important to her.
Jack's expression softened into a radiant smile, one that mirrored Kate's grin and conveyed his deep affection and joy. His eyes sparkled with emotion, and the corners of his lips turned up in a way that spoke volumes more than words ever could. After a moment, he looked away, his heart still racing, and continued working on removing the cork from the bottle. She noticed her effects on him. His hands trembled slightly, not from nervousness, but from the overwhelming rush of affection and excitement he felt. The significance of this moment was not lost on him, or her. They were acknowledging their love and embracing the feeling.
He knew that this was the turning point for them, a moment that solidified their relationship in a way words never could.
He finally popped the cork.
"Could you hand me those glasses?" Jack asked, pointing to the ones on the counter cabinet beside her.
"Sure." She picked up both glasses and walked over to him, holding them out so he could pour the liquor.
Once Jack finished filling the glasses, he set the bottle down on the table and turned to hand one to Kate.
"To us." Jack said, raising his glass.
"To us." Kate echoed, bringing the sparkling wine to her lips.
They caught each other's eyes as they drank, and far from feeling embarrassed or uncomfortable, neither looked away. Their gazes remained locked, each savoring the moment and the deep connection they shared.
Jack felt his feelings for her ripple through his entire body in her presence. He noticed his breathing becoming faster and deeper; his heart beating more vigorously, and an unfamiliar warmth spread within his chest, filling him inside and outside completely. It was the first time he had ever felt love for someone in this way, not even for his ex-wife, Sarah.
He lowered his gaze for a moment to catch his breath and then turned to place his glass on the table. He needed a few seconds to regain control over himself, hoping Kate wouldn't notice.
Then, he tilted his head down to meet Kate's eyes — those beautiful warm, green eyes— and offered her a smile. Carefully, he took the glass from Kate's hand and set it on the counter next to his. The hazy influence of alcohol was not going to be a matter for them tonight; he wanted their connection to be as genuine and immaculate as possible. Then, Jack stepped closer, tenderly caressed her cheek, tracing down and up the curve of her jaw, while she instinctively wrapped her arms around his waist, yearning for him.
"Are you sure about this?" He asked, needing to make sure she was doing this for all the right reasons. His voice came in a cautious whisper.
Kate looked up at him, feeling reassured and confident, while thinking that the tone of his voice was the sexiest thing she had heard in a long time. She was loving the way Jack was communicating with her through his whole body language.
"I—I don't want you to feel that I brought you here because—" He tried to tell her before she cut him short.
"I know why I'm here, Jack. I want to be here—" Kate paused briefly before continuing."— with you." She emphasized.
As she uttered these words, Kate searched his eyes for any sign of hesitation, her expression imbued with urging. Jack felt a shiver run down his spine at the sound of her voice, and he couldn't stop himself from now tenderly caressing the curve of her neck, and trailing his thumb across her lips as he lost himself in the depths of her green eyes. He needed her to understand, with all her senses, how much he cared for her and —
"I'm glad you're here." he said, offering her a warm smile while leaning in slowly.
"Why?" She asked begging to know.
"Do I really need to explain myself after all the things we have been through together?"
"Tell me." Kate urged, nibbling her lower lip, her voice barely above a whisper as she inched closer, seeking answers in his eyes.
—And how much he loved her.
Jack had always been a gentle, respectful, and tender man with her. A good man. The kind of man Kate fell harder for. Yet, this encounter felt different. She was dragging him to play games and giving him signs, enticing him, imploring him to reveal a side of himself she had never really witnessed before. The passionate lover side of him.
Jack grabbed Kate by her waist and lifted her effortlessly and urgently with his strong arms. His hunger for her was evident as he placed her above the kitchen counter. They found themselves at eye level, staring directly into each other's eyes. Kate noticed Jack bore a different expression. His gaze darkened with an intensity she had never seen before, a need.
"Because—I'm absolutely in love with you." He leaned in slowly, his lips brushing against her ear as he whispered.
These words reverberated powerfully within Kate's body. The warm breath of his voice close to her ear, combined with the intoxicating scent of his parfum, ignited an urgent need for their bodies to draw even closer.
Kate wrapped her arms around Jack's waist, pulling him in until their groins pressed together. A hot and electrifying sensation began to envelop them, starting from their chests and radiating downward.
Jack took a moment to close his eyes, breathing deeply as he savored the overwhelming gift that she was offering and it threatened to drive him mad. He knew then, that tonight, he would love her, slowly and deeply until their bodies were utterly exhausted.
Kate began to leave a trail with light kisses along his neck, shyly at first, testing his reaction.
"Kate—" Jack breathed her name in a whisper, feeling his body dissolve under her tender yet mischievous touches.
She let out a soft grin, so proud of the effect her advances had on him.
He moved the hand that had been resting on the kitchen counter to caress Kate's face. Then, he stepped back for a moment to add some distance, to look at her and regain control of the situation. Maybe taking a few seconds now to give her a chance to still back out. Things between them were never easy either way, and he wouldn't be the one adding more pressure on her after all her troubles. He noticed though, she couldn't stop staring at his lips, eager and ready for him. He enjoyed that he wasn't the only one losing control in this game.
Jack had never seen that look in her eyes before, and that gaze ignited the urge and action to bring his lips closer to hers and kissed her slowly.
The last time Kate had felt the soft warmth of his lips was in the heart of the island's jungle. She knew she had made a grievous mistake by fleeing that moment, fleeing from him and the opportunity he was offering to feel loved and taken care of, to feel protected and not fighting against the walls she built around herself. She also felt she had betrayed the friendship and trust Jack had extended to her all this time. She had abandoned him, alone and bewildered in the jungle, with no explanation or apologies. In the ensuing days, she came to understand that Jack's anger and diving into the hatch, so far away from the beach, stemmed from his need to distance himself from her to clear his mind, maybe even find the peace she couldn't find herself. She came to realize this and knew for sure she had to apologize to him, hoping that, with a bit of luck, their relationship could return to its former state—complicated but trusted and caring.
How naïve she'd been; their relationship would never return to the way it was. Because that kiss had irrevocably and permanently changed everything, revealing the undeniable love between them. No matter what they did, they were strongly bound to each other. There was no turning back from that.
As there was no way to turn back now.
That initial, gentle kiss deepened with each passing second, growing more fervent as they continued. Their tongues ventured hesitantly into the intimate recesses where they began to feel increasingly at ease with one another, as their feelings led them toward the place they had always yearned to be.
Kate craved him even more, so she pulled Jack even closer by his waist, drawing him deeper into her embrace. Sensing his readiness, she slowly, with deliberate tenderness and amidst their lingering kisses, unfastened his trousers and unclasped his belt, easing the hot pressure on him.
He wasted no time, grasping the hem of Kate's blouse at her back, lifting it off to reveal her nude torso. He paused to admire her, even more breathtaking than she had seemed a few hours earlier, her breasts almost fully exposed and only partially concealed by the black bra that would soon end up discarded somewhere on the floor.
She had always been not just a beautiful woman but athletic and agile, rendering her physique both incredibly alluring and sensually captivating under Jack's eyes.
Kate slid her hands under Jack's shirt, assisting him in removing it with urgency. He boasted an impressive strong and manly physique for his age. Standing close to six feet three inches tall, he retained the athletic and robust build of a man in his forties, clearly devoted to maintaining his physical form in peak condition.
Jack drew her near once more, his kisses and caresses now charged with fervent intensity. He pulled her firmly against the hardening effect she continued to have on him, which he began to move in a slow, undulating, maddening rhythm, creating a provocative dance between them. With his free hand, he skillfully unfastened her bra, his eyes never leaving hers and his movements looking precise yet gentle. Kate felt the straps coming loose above her shoulders and got goosebumps from the cold air and his fingertips delicately brushing along her shoulders and breasts.
"I didn't know you had such talents." Kate remarked teasingly, her eyes widening as she observed Jack making his way with her.
"Oh, I'm a man of many talents." He answered with a confident grin. His fingers moved with practiced ease, teasing the waistband of Kate's jeans. His hand deftly worked to unbutton and slide them down in a smooth-slow motion.
Kate's breath hitched with each caress, her body arching slightly in response to his electrifying touch. As he carefully removed her jeans, his touch grew bolder, exploring the newly exposed skin.
"Then show me." Kate whispered, her voice tinged with anticipation as she assisted Jack in removing her jeans.
Her eyes catched Jack's intense gaze, filled with a burning desire that matched her own. She could feel the heat radiating from his body as he continued his exploration.
As the last barrier fell away, their breaths mingled in a shared moment of unspoken longing. They closed their eyes and surrendered to the enveloping warmth and pleasure, finally allowing themselves to be carried together to the heights of ecstasy.
Author´s note: I think this was probably not the kind of end you were waiting for this chapter. You were probaby expecting a more detailed scene about their first time together. As I think I told you before, I started writing this story as a challenge for me, and the biggest challenge is writing sex. Yeah, is not easy. I was not prepare to write that kind of content when I wrote this chapter last year, but I promise you, you´ll get your reward in the future (cause I´m already working on it). It felt to me like I needed to focus more on the way they would connect before sex and not on the act hitself. First time is about getting to know each other in a different way, touching and exploring, there´s always awkarness inherent to it. I wanted to focus more on "How they get there" and it´s the core of this story to write the way I imagine they moving together or getting to want to be married. Hey, and maybe I´ll release this full scene as a flashback in future chapters. What do you think? :) Let me know.
