Summary: Santana and Selina are identical twins with opposite personalities. Santana doesn't know how to handle it when Selina asks Brittany out first and plans to steal her twin's date by pretending to be her. What could go wrong? Brittana AU

A/N: I do plan to continue Red Sun and I want to thank everyone who left nice comments on that. This is just a short fic idea I've had for a while. Selina's name is based on Selina Kyle (Catwoman). Selina is somewhat based on the character called Donna from The Bernie Mac Show who Naya played.

From the moment she was born practically, Santana always felt like she lived in the shadow of her sister.

Her stupid, annoying twin, Selina, always did everything right.

Selina and Santana appeared to be identical, aside from the one birthmark below Santana's lip that helped others tell them apart.

From their naturally curly dark brown hair and dark espresso-coloured eyes right down to the crinkles by the corners of their eyes when they smiled and the little lines beside their noses when they scrunched them, they seemed like clones of each other.

They were both openly gay too, meaning that the Tegan and Sara jokes followed them everywhere. Their mother was pretty relieved that the chances of teen pregnancy were almost non-existent now. It was one less thing to worry about.

Their parents already had a million other things to worry about with Santana.

They were seventeen now. While Selina had this charming, pleasant look on her face at any given moment, Santana usually had a frown or a grimace. Their personalities couldn't have been more opposite. Selina was calm and mild-mannered whereas troublemaker Santana was demanding and abrasive. Selina had higher grades, usually a B average, while Santana was barely passing most of her classes.

She had grown up sharing everything she had from the time they were babies with her twin but the one thing Santana refused to share was their new, super pretty friend they had made that school year.

That was why her heart shattered into a million pieces and her life was ruined when she found out about her sister's date.

Santana's jaw dropped in outrage when she saw Selina flirting with Brittany by the blonde girl's locker. Selina was giving Brittany the trademark Lopez smirk and the irresistible smoulder no woman could resist. Santana hid behind the corner as she spied on them, grateful that no one else was around in the hallway to see what she was up to. It would be so embarrassing to explain if anyone caught her.

She couldn't make out exactly what they were saying but she could hear the sweet tone to her sister's voice, no doubt complimenting everything about the blonde, and saw the way Brittany's face flushed pink, then she squealed and hugged Selina.

Santana made a face of disgust. She wanted to interrupt so badly and push Selina out of the way but she didn't want to make herself seem so desperate. Selina had the nerve to kiss Brittany on the cheek before walking away with a final grin.

Eventually, Santana sauntered up to Brittany, trying to act all casual as if she just happened to be in the hallway at the same time.

"Hi, Britt. Didn't realize you were still here."

"Selina? Weren't you just here a second ago?"

Santana's face fell but she tried not to show how affected she was because she was dying to be special to Brittany and have all the blonde's attention to herself.

After all, it was nothing personal. Brittany was always mixing up anyone at school who looked vaguely alike. That girl's head was perpetually stuck in the clouds. It was adorable.

"Oh, it's actually Santana, Britt."

Brittany's cheeks flushed and she looked sheepish.

"Oh! I'm so sorry, now I see your cute birthmark."

Santana felt smug about being called cute by the prettiest girl in existence. She flashed her most charming smirk as she leaned against the locker beside her friend's, trying to act all smooth and casual even though her heart was beating so fast.

"What do you say I come over by your place and we watch some Sweet Valley High? Get our cuddle on?"

Brittany was so touchy feely with both sisters, so this wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary. Since they had met, Brittany and Santana had quickly become close friends. Selina was also friendly with Brittany but Santana liked to think herself and the blonde were much closer friends.

Secretly, Santana wanted to be way more than friends with Brittany.

Brittany squealed, clasping her hands together and Santana bit back a grin, finding her mannerisms adorable.

"I'd love to."

"What's on your mind?" Santana asked, noticing the big, giddy smile that remained on Brittany's face as she skipped over to Santana's car and climbed into the passenger side. "C'mon. Tell me."

"Don't worry, it's good news. I officially have a date on Friday with your sister. She just asked me out! It's our first date!"

Santana's world instantly came crashing down and she couldn't conceal her devastation at this news. She really wished she hadn't asked.

"What?! With her?!" She spat, without thinking.

Brittany seemed taken aback.

"Sorry, did I say something wrong? You look really, really upset. Are you okay?"

Santana didn't want to admit how tormented she was by this news. Sure, she had never had the guts to ask Brittany out herself but that didn't mean Little Miss Perfect was allowed to do it first!

"Sure, yeah. I'm fine. I'm just fine. I'm good."

Selina just had to take everything her twin wanted away from her, even the one precious thing Santana thought was just for her.

The worst part was, Brittany seemed really joyful about her date. Maybe Brittany had been in love with Selina all along.

Santana wanted to throw up, or launch herself into moving traffic, or both! Brittany noticed her state.

"Are you sure? You don't look so happy about it. Actually, you look kind of nauseous."

"Are you kidding? Happy? Happy?! I'm so happy I could cry!" Santana was being half honest because she really thought she'd burst into fat, ugly tears at any moment. Her crying face wasn't a pretty sight. Her voice sounded super high-pitched and screechy in her emotional state.

She kept the hurt locked away inside. Or at least, she tried not to look like she was on the verge of a meltdown.

"Do you not want me to go on the date?"

"W-what? What would make you think that? I'm totally cool with it, totally fine! Perfectly fine!"

She didn't want to seem so needy and pathetic. How would it look if Brittany was only into Selina and she found out Santana had some pathetic one-sided crush on her? Santana would never live that one down. Maybe Selina and Brittany would laugh about her with each other if they found out. Brittany might never want to be her friend again.

Brittany gave her a worried glance but eventually stopped asking her about it.

Santana tried to change the subject as much as possible to fill the awkward silence, trash talking a bunch of people at their school and gossiping because she knew it would make Brittany smile. She seemed to be successful at distracting her.

Later, in Brittany's bedroom, Santana couldn't hold back and finally asked her what was really on her mind.

"Since when are you into my sister?" Santana asked, trying hard to sound uninterested and casual even though she couldn't keep the edge out of her tone. "What's so great about her?"

"I just think she's really cute." Brittany shrugged.

"No! She's not even good looking!"

"Santana, you guys are identical twins."

"I know… but I'm the better-looking one." Santana argued. She knew she sounded ridiculous and Brittany was laughing but she just had to make Brittany think she was better.

"Can you sing for me?" Brittany asked in a sweet way.

"Which song?" Santana smiled. She was flattered that Brittany loved her singing so much.

"A One Direction song?"

"Aw, Britt." Santana protested slightly but she knew Brittany loved that band. Santana had even taken Brittany to their concert once. There was one song that came to her mind. "Does He Know?" reminded her of her situation with Selina and Brittany.

He knows about you in every way

He's memorized every part of your face

Inside and out, baby, head to toe

Yeah, he knows everything there is to know

Your secret tattoo, the way you change moods

The songs that you sing when you're all alone

Your favorite band, and the way that you dance

But baby, baby

Does he know you can move it like that?

Whoa-oh-oh-oh

Does he know you're out and I want you so bad

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Tonight you're mine, baby

Does he know that you'll never go back?

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Does he know?

I catch your eye then you turn away

But there's no hiding the smile on your face

Inside and out, baby, head to toe

He's not around, girl, you let me know

She wondered if Brittany understood the meaning of the song she had just sang to her but the blonde only gave her that coy smile of hers. It felt like they were getting closer than ever. If Brittany was supposed to be dating Selina now, she sure was all over Santana. Brittany even cuddled up to her, laying her head on her shoulder as they continued to watch episodes of One Tree Hill.

Santana didn't get it. How could Brittany be in love with Selina?! It was wrong. It was an abomination.

Brittany never spoke about Selina that much before. Selina didn't know Brittany the way Santana did. She didn't know that Brittany's favourite colours were light pink, aqua, and lilac. Or that Sweet Valley High was her favourite show. Selina didn't know that Vengaboys and One Direction were two of Brittany's favourite bands.

Her twin had never seen Brittany dance. She didn't know about the songs Brittany sang to herself when she was all alone. Selina didn't know about the secret dreamcatcher tattoo on Brittany's ass that Santana nearly went into cardiac arrest about when she accidentally saw her naked that one time when she walked in on her in the shower…

Damn, her hormones were going crazy just thinking about that last part.

In the back of her mind, Santana had some much darker, more twisted and villainous schemes.

She was going to sabotage her twin's date and steal it for herself. There was no way Selina was taking Brittany from her. So maybe she was being selfish but she would do anything to have Brittany all to herself.

The day of the big date arrived and Santana frowned when she saw Selina acting all proud of herself. Of course she's proud, she's going on a date with the most gorgeous angel on the face of the planet.

"Can't wait for my date tonight." Selina grinned as her twin sulked.

"Since when do you even have a thing for Brittany?"

"Doesn't everyone? She's sweet. I've always thought she was really pretty but I held back because I just assumed you two were together. When she told me you two weren't actually dating, I figured I better make my move. A girl like her won't stay single for long." Selina shrugged.

Santana groaned to herself, beyond jealous and annoyed. She felt betrayed. She wanted to scream, "How could you do this to me?!" but she didn't want to give Selina that satisfaction.

"So you think she's just gonna makeout with you in the backseat of your car or something?"

"Maybe." Selina winked. Santana grimaced.

That's what you think. Not on my watch!

"Ha. As if she'd want to kiss you, Ugly."

"We're literally identical twins, Dumbass. What's up with you? Are you jealous?" Selina arched an eyebrow and chuckled but as usual, didn't lose her cool. "You sound like you're mad."

"As if. I just think maybe Brittany can do better than you. Besides, I've seen her naked."

"Girls, stop fighting at the table." Maribel chided from where she stood over the stove, shaking her head at them.

The day went by so fast and Santana's nerves were so highly strung, she could barely talk to anyone or focus on anything else.

At least, since they were twins, Santana wouldn't need much of a disguise. She paid attention to the outfit Selina wore and chose the exact same thing, right down to her twin's makeup choices. Selina dressed more preppy and in lighter colours compared to the leather and bold leopard print or dark red shades Santana liked for herself.

Unfortunately, she was going to have to pretend to be all sweet and good if she wanted to be Selina. Their personalities were so opposite. She also had to hide her birthmark but that was the easiest part.

She listened in and found out her sister had a movie date with Brittany at the cinema in Lima's only mall. She lied, making an excuse to her parents that she was out with her friend Quinn that night.

She kept a distance from Selina and Brittany, gasping and hiding behind the nearest wall when Selina randomly looked over her shoulder at some point as if seeing her behind them. Luckily, she didn't seem to have spotted her. Santana rolled her eyes at Selina putting an arm around Brittany's waist. She thinks she's so slick.

Selina had purchased tickets for both of them and now she was buying Brittany popcorn, along with the Buncha Crunch, Mini M and every other candy Brittany wanted. She even carried them for the blonde. Damn, that should have been Santana doing that instead. She was burning with jealousy at this point.

The more mischievous Lopez twin felt like a genius, unable to keep the smirk off of her face when she managed to get a seat several rows behind the two of them without them noticing a thing.

Santana gave the back of Selina's chair a sharp, sudden kick, surprising her and causing her to spill soda all over her lap. Her twin glanced behind her and Santana quickly ducked down low, so she didn't see her. Selina groaned and eventually stood up, leaving to go to the bathroom to clean up.

Santana eventually took Selina's place in the seat beside Brittany, moving close to her. Of course Brittany was gorgeous as always in a polka dot blouse and tiny black shorts, her hair flowing in soft, tousled waves.

The blonde was so focused on watching the commercials and eating popcorn that she didn't even look to the side and didn't seem to notice anything odd about Santana's presence. Santana smirked. Everything was going according to plan.

"Oh, you're back really quickly," Brittany deadpanned. "That was fast. Sorry about the soda."

"It's fine, you know me. I'm so clumsy. Such a dork."

She laughed awkwardly and loudly. She tried really hard to keep the signature snarl and rasp out of her voice but it was a challenge.

"Wow, she really has a crush on her."

"Janis? On Regina?" Santana nodded in agreement with her comment. "I mean yeah, they're a little too obsessed with each other. They both totally want each other."

"Shhh!" A girl in front of them turned around to glare in their direction. Santana glared back, about to curse her out. She blinked, realizing it was Rachel Berry, that loud, prissy brunette from school that she couldn't stand.

It was almost impossible not to insult people and swallow back her temper whenever something irritated her.

How the hell was Selina so calm and controlled?

"Bitch, you better shut the hell up before I -" Santana noticed the way Brittany was staring at her in shock as she went into a rage and switched to a softer, angelic, and high-pitched voice that sounded more like Selina. "Before I start crying right here!"

Brittany took pity on her and Santana enjoyed the way she was fussing over her now.

"Aw, Selina, I've never heard you get angry like that. You poor thing. You really did sound like Santana just now."

Santana leaned over, slipping her arm over the back of Brittany's chair.

"So um, what do you think of her? Santana, I mean."

"You just asked me that exact same thing a few days ago, remember?" Brittany laughed.

"Oh, right. Sorry. What did you say - I mean. I kind of forgot what you said."

"I think she's really smart and funny but you know I told you we're not officially dating or anything. Oh and I told you I think she has a really nice ass."

Santana choked when she heard the last part, her eyes widening. It was unexpected. She was flattered and a little turned on. She squirmed in her seat.

"Yeah, she is really smart and funny. She's way funnier than Sel- I mean, than I am."

"That's funny, you sounded just like Santana when you said that just now. You look thirsty. Do you want to sip my drink since you don't have one anymore? It's kind of like an indirect kiss when we share it."

Santana squeaked and nodded, taking a sip from the straw when Brittany passed it to her.

"Thanks. Well we're sisters, you know? Twins. Of course we sound alike but Santana sounds so much cooler than I do."

"She does?" Brittany asked curiously, batting her eyelashes flirtatiously. Santana was confused but couldn't resist the urge to show off. "I didn't know you felt that way. Tell me more."

"Yeah, I mean it takes a lot from me to admit this but I need to be honest with you. Santana's just so much better than me. I don't know where to begin! She's way better-looking and she's more intellectual. Did I mention she's older than me by a few minutes? She's more athletic, she's a better singer, as we both know, her fashion is way better, and she's just sexier. She's probably going to steal all the girls away from me, including you, with her sexy bad girl appeal. She's better at pleasing them in bed so they'll have to go to her for that too when I can't satisfy them. Santana has the way better version of the Lopez dimples for sure. She dresses better, have you seen her? Leopard print looks better on her. Her smoulder's better. She can win a fistfight and I definitely can't. I could go on but this would take all night. I'm lucky you took pity on me to go out with me on this date… Santana's the one you should go for. She's going to be paying my bills because she'll definitely be the more successful sibling. She'd be better for you," She ranted dramatically. "Oh and she's bigger too. She's half an inch taller. Another reason why she's the dominant twin."

"Aw, you're not a loser. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. You're really cute, Selina."

That got Santana worked up really fast.

"Selina is not cute! Santana is cuter!" Santana argued, then realized her mistake and hastened to correct herself. "I mean, I'm really not cute. You should see me without makeup and my morning breath is terrible. Santana got all the good-looking genes in the family. I'm lucky she puts up with me."

"I don't remember Santana being all that athletic…"

"I'm - I mean she is super athletic. You just haven't seen her at her full potential. Selina has no hand eye coordination anyway. You're into jocks, right?"

"Why did you just call yourself Selina twice in a row? Are we talking in the third person now?"

"Oh… I, um… Sorry."

"I just think you're pretty." Brittany shrugged.

"She is not - I am not pretty! Fuck Selina! She ruins everything."

"Would Selina, like a kiss?" Brittany glanced coyly at her under long lashes. Santana swallowed hard, feeling torn. The thought of Brittany kissing Selina was awful and she didn't want that at all but maybe this might be the only chance she had of kissing Brittany. Besides, she couldn't say "no" when Brittany was looking at her like that.

She nodded and closed her eyes, her heart fluttering. She felt Brittany's breath as she moved closer and puckered her lips. Brittany traced her fingertips over her jaw but to her disappointment she felt lips against her cheek instead. It was still really nice but she felt like a fool for expecting a lot more.

"Can I tell you a secret?" Brittany whispered even more quietly, leaning up close to her ear. Now Santana was intrigued. "Don't tell Santana."

"Sure. What is it?"

"I had a really hot dream about both of you screwing me at the same time."

"What?!"

"Relax. I'm just kidding."

Santana frowned, tensing up and grimaced. Oh hell no. This wasn't how she wanted Brittany to dream about her. Selina wasn't allowed to get in on the action. Santana would kill her.

"What's that on your chin? Is that a mole?" Brittany was squinting at her now, tilting her head to the side in confusion. Santana was starting to freak out. Her makeup must have been wiped off by accident. "I thought only Santana had a birthmark and you didn't."

"Uh, yeah. You never noticed it before? Runs in the family!" Santana was really starting to panic now because Brittany was looking at her very suspiciously, her blonde brows drawn into a frown.

"I thought you're right-handed?"

Santana cursed herself, noticing that she was using her left hand for everything.

"Um, actually I'm sort of ambidextrous."

"Santana, are you really pretending to be Selina right now?"

Damn. She had been caught.

"No, I'm Selina, I swear!"

"Then… who's that?" Brittany blinked. "It looks like you're on the other side of the room too and you look really mad. How are you doing that?"

Santana cringed, shrinking into her seat. Selina was marching into the cinema, for once having lost her cool with a furious expression that was identical to her sister's. Mean Girls continued to play in the background.

"What was in my purple soda? Am I seeing double or something? Sometimes I see doppelgängers but that hasn't happened recently."

"Uh - um, yeah, sure. That's it."

"Santana! What are you doing?!" Selina whisper-screamed when she finally came up to them. Santana was tempted to run or duck under the seat but then she remembered she was Santana Lopez and she would never be so cowardly.

"I can't believe you went full That's So Raven on me." Selina shook her head, outraged.

"Um - I - um -" Santana struggled to think of a way out of this.

"Save it. It's so obvious what's going on here. Brittany, she pretended to be me just so she could get to you and steal my date. She's been playing tricks this whole time to try to get rid of me because she's jealous!"

"I'm not Santana, she is!" She attempted to argue. Brittany seemed even more confused, glancing back and forth between the two twins.

"I'm kind of getting all dizzy, Guys. This is giving me a headache." The blonde admitted.

"Oh, sure you're not Santana," Selina rolled her eyes as you turned to Santana, "What were you planning to do after I came back, Blockhead? I can't believe you pretended to be me."

Santana was mortified. Brittany was staring at her in silence with an unreadable expression and no smile on her face as Selina just watched her with her arms crossed.

"As if! Why would I do that?" Santana's response sounded weak even to her own ears.

"You've always been jealous of me, admit it."

"Get your own girlfriend! Why are you trying to steal Brittany?!"

"She's not your girlfriend."

"You're so dead!"

"No, you are, when I tell Mom and Dad about this."

"Hey, can you guys shut up?!" Rachel Berry turned around and shouted at them. "Finally, they're quiet! Some of us are trying to watch the movie here."

Brittany stood up and walked out of the cinema, shaking her head sadly. She must have been embarrassed. Meanwhile a whole bunch of people had turned to watch the drama unfold between the three of them with popcorn in hand like if they were seeing a soap opera and they snickered at Santana when she ran behind the blonde.

She had really blown it. She had disappointed Brittany. She had never experienced Brittany being mad at her or sad because of something she did like this before and she just couldn't handle it.

She ran after Brittany but when the blonde finally faced her she still had that sad frown and none of the usual sparkle in her eyes.

"Britt, c'mon, can you please talk to me?"

Brittany was still silent for a few agonizing minutes, the two of them standing alone by Santana's car.

Now Santana really began to cry. It was pretty embarrassing having literal tears rolling down her cheeks when they were standing in the parking lot at the back of the mall and she was a blubbering, red-faced mess in front of the love of her life. She had never made herself so vulnerable in front of anyone in her life.

"I just really wanted you to like me! Everyone always likes her better than me, even our parents like her better and all of my friends do, no matter what I do! I'm so sorry, I know I was being a jerk but it's only because I'm in love with you! You're the only one I've ever liked this much!"

Brittany still wasn't saying a word but her face softened when she saw Santana crying and heard what she said. She came up to her, gently putting her arms around her shoulders and finally spoke up.

"You love me? Honey, why didn't you just tell me?"

"I couldn't. I was so scared," Santana whimpered. "You love her more, don't you? I don't even have a chance with you."

Brittany shook her head.

"You two fighting over me was hot but then all the competition made my head hurt. Both of you have always been flirting with me since forever but you never asked me out and then she did. Selina's sweet."

"Yeah, she's sweet, perfect, such an angel." Santana mumbled sarcastically.

"She's confident, charming and smooth and she says all the right things but... I'm not totally in love with her the way I am with you."

Santana froze, feeling breathless and her eyes opened wide.

"I- in love with me?"

Brittany nodded, moving closer and looping her arms around Santana's neck. There was only one thing to do. Santana's gaze drifted to Brittany's lips and she closed her eyes as she leaned in, slanting her mouth over hers. Brittany sighed happily and Santana felt a jolt when the blonde kissed her back. Brittany's lips were so soft and damn, that girl really knew how to kiss.

"That was…" Santana was too breathless and blissed out for words. Her lips and every other part of her felt all tingly.

"Totally amazing, I know," Brittany was looking at her with a glint in her eye like she wanted to do it again and Santana felt like the temperature in the room went up by about thirty degrees. "By the way, I also figured out it was you back there long before your sister came in. Were you following us the whole time?"

Santana's face paled. She felt so embarrassed.

"When did you figure it out?"

"Like five minutes after you came in and pretended to be her. You're not that good at disguises. It was really obvious," Brittany giggled as Santana's face felt hot again. Santana covered her face with her hands. "I knew it was you when I kissed you too. I just couldn't resist teasing you."

"Oh." Santana felt smug and relieved about that.

"If you wanted a date with me, why didn't you just ask instead of going to all of that trouble, Silly?"

Santana hung her head. She felt like such a dumbass. She was a dumbass.

"I was really scared you'd say no. I'm sorry I ruined the date for you. I'm so dramatic... and chaotic."

"That's what I love about you. So why don't you make it up to me?" Brittany slipped her hand into hers, leaning against her shoulder. "Next Friday night?"

"You got it," Santana was unable to keep the grin off of her face, feeling on top of the world. Brittany really wanted a date with her, even after all of that. She couldn't believe her luck that the blonde was asking her out. "As your girlfriend girlfriend?"

Brittany beamed at her and kissed her again, nodding when she pulled away.
