Summary: Married Brittany and Santana have fun celebrating Halloween with their sons. Their oldest son won't admit to his fears about some of the ghoulish festivities but he learns that there's nothing wrong with being scared sometimes.

This is set in the same universe as my other fic in this anthology, "Camping Trip From Hell"

A/N: Happy Halloween/Diwali (belated) or whichever occasion you celebrate! This is just a little ficlet about domestic Brittana.

Halloween was one of Brittany and Santana's favourite times of the year. The only one who was even more into it was Tina Cohen-Chang but that went without saying.

Brittany was in the middle of putting the finishing touches on a giant haunted house made of chocolate bars and candies with her two sons when Santana walked in from work.

"Mami's home!" Brittany cried out happily, knowing the boys would be thrilled. The boys were so elated and ran to hug their other mom, just as they did every day, acting as if they hadn't seen her for five years. "We missed you so much!"

"Hi, Kittens," Santana couldn't keep the grin off her face, kneeling down to their level and wrapping both of them up in a bone crushing bear hug. "Hi, Mommy. I missed you all so much too."

Brittany kissed Santana softly on the lips when she stood up again. Her wife took off her jacket and kicked off her heels.

Brittany loved seeing the sweet faces of their sons all lit up when their dark-haired mother came home. Santana was such a family woman these days and it melted her wife's heart to see how domesticated she had become.

Deep down, she was the same Santana Brittany had always known and fallen in love with but she was so softened around the edges when it came to her family.

"What's in the bag, Mom?!" Marco instantly squealed. Summer glanced up in interest as well, bouncing over to his other mom. Santana sneakily kept the bag behind her back and out of their sight.

Most of the time, Santana was "Mami" to the boys and Brittany was "Mommy." They had called their moms that ever since they were old enough to talk but occasionally they were both "Mom" or "Mommy."

"It's a surprise. I can't tell you!" Santana smirked playfully, sharing a knowing glance with her wife. Brittany and Santana both knew their Halloween costumes were in the bag. The thirty-first of October was only a few days away and they knew their little boys were going to love them.

"Does anyone want to watch a spooky movie tonight?" Brittany called out after they got both boys bathed and changed into their pajamas for the night then fawned over how adorable they both looked.

Marco's pajamas were orange with black stripes and little tigers all over them while Summer wore blue and black ones with a shark pattern.

It was a Lopez family tradition to watch a Halloween movie every night in October leading up to Halloween.

"Me! I do, I do!" Marco shouted.

Brittany and her wife got settled in on the couch, cuddling with Santana's arm wrapped around Brittany's waist while Marco decided to lie on the carpet in front of the couch with his colouring book open in front of him as he watched in rapt attention.

Summer climbed into Brittany's lap, content to stay there quietly for most of the movie. Brittany carded her fingers through his dark blond curls absentmindedly. His skin was naturally darker than Brittany's but almost as freckled as hers. Dimples showed on Santana and both sons' cheeks whenever they laughed.

"Aw, San. He can't even keep his little eyes open anymore." Brittany whispered to Santana as they both watched the toddler who was practically dozed off in her lap.

"Are you nodding off already, Sweetie?" Santana cooed.

Summer squinted at his brunette mother, then nodded slightly and yawned, rubbing his eyes. He was never quite as talkative as his brother, not needing to be the center of everyone's attention as much, though both boys could be dramatic at times.

"Tired, Mami."

"You're so cute. Okay, let's go brush your teeth and then it's bedtime." Santana carefully untangled herself from her wife then scooped her three year-old up in her arms, cradling him and rocking him like a baby. This made him giggle.

Summer's little pointed elf-like ears reminded her so much of Brittany's and his wavy, golden hair was growing so long, reminding her of her wife's long, light blonde waves. He was getting taller already, all long limbs like Brittany's and he moved with the grace of his dancer mom. He was such a beautiful mixture of both of them in appearance. Santana could not be prouder of her children.

Marco looked very similar to his little brother at his age with blonder hair but he was practically Santana's mirror image in colouring now, his hair darkened to a rich brown that was almost as dark as his mother's.

Brittany gave Summer a kiss on both cheeks, helping Santana get him to bed. She never thought she'd see the day when Santana willingly was so soft and gentle but she had mellowed out a lot since their children were born.

"I think someone just wanted to be carried by Momma," Brittany pointed out then turned to glance at Santana flirtatiously. "Though I can't say I blame him."

Santana was flustered for a moment, having lustful visions of what she and her wife had been up to when they were intimate lately but she only groaned, giving Brittany a quick kiss that conveyed what she wanted them to get back to together when their sons were finally asleep.

After they finally got Summer to bed, Marco was still all hyped up and Brittany was beginning to wonder if all of the chocolate he begged her for earlier had been a bad idea. He wanted to stay up a little later with them and his mothers decided to give in for once, since they could all sleep in later the next day, which was Saturday. They put on a new movie but Santana wondered if it was a little too advanced for a six year old.

"Are you sure you want to watch it?" Santana narrowed her eyes, putting her hands on her hips. Marco was insistent.

"Yes, I do, Mami! I'm a big boy. I am not a scaredy cat!"

Brittany and Santana couldn't help but smile. Ever since he heard that term at school he kept repeating it all the time.

"You look so much like your momma when your face is like that. So precious!" Brittany sighed adoringly at his little pout and frown.

Brittany quickly realized that choosing a scarier movie for once was a mistake. Marco was so petrified that he clung to his moms, not wanting to let them out of his sight even after Brittany turned the movie off halfway through.

"I think that one was a little too much for him." Brittany whispered to Santana when the two walked over to the kitchen after, thinking Marco was out of earshot.

They knew Marco had been to a horror house the other day when they took the boys to an amusement park and that had freaked him out a little. Santana announced after that ordeal that there would not be another haunted house excursion for the LoPierces.

Santana nodded and they decided it was best for him to sleep with his moms that night.

"Aw, Baby. I'm so sorry. I feel like such a bad mom," Santana lifted him up with the best of her strength, which wasn't much, setting him down beside Brittany, who instantly hugged him close. "We really didn't mean to scare you like that."

"I'm not scared! I'm as brave as ever!"

"I know, I know." Santana hummed.

"Honey, we need you to stay with us tonight to protect us, okay?" Brittany suggested sweetly. She knew her son well and she knew he wouldn't ever admit that he needed them because he was afraid. "Let's all cuddle. It's so cold!"

At that moment, they heard a little voice outside the door shrieking.

"Mommy! Moms! Can I sleep with you?"

"Of course you can, Honey," Brittany went over and picked up Summer, carrying him over to their bed as well. "We need you to snuggle with us too."

Marco cracked an eye open, pouting in his brother's direction and not liking that he had to share the attention with him but reluctantly allowed it.

"You guys are like little space heaters, all three of you." Brittany chuckled.

They tried to get to sleep soon but Marco kept whimpering, tossing and turning even though he usually fell asleep quickly when he slept in their bed. He was nestled between his moms with his head against Santana's chest while Brittany stroked his back. Summer was wedged in between as well, his back against Santana and clinging to his brother but he was already asleep. Marco's tossing and turning woke them all up.

"I can't sleep!" He eventually whimpered.

"Sweetie, what's the matter?"

"Ghosts are coming after us! They're gonna come and haunt us when we're asleep and steal our souls!"

"Ghosts? I don't think we've had any recently." Brittany mused, tilting her head to the side as she thought about it.

"That ghost movie really was a bad idea." Santana groaned, already sensing that it was going to be a long night. She had forgotten how sensitive a six year-old could be to any kind of scary imagery.

Brittany sat up, cupping Marco's cheeks when his shoulders started shaking and he sobbed. Her face was flooded with concern.

"Aw, Baby. Sweetie, I thought you liked scary things. Remember you used to love monsters, fairies, aliens, and all of that stuff?"

"I used to but not anymore. I don't know why."

"You know, I'll tell you a secret but you can't tell anyone. Even though I act tough, I don't like scary movies either." Santana admitted quietly.

"That's right, Baby. Your momma is the strongest person I know and even she doesn't like horror."

"Really?!" He gasped.

"Is that so hard to believe?" Santana laughed.

"I get really scared by them too." Brittany added.

"No way!"

"I know, it's shocking that even moms get scared, right? You know, when you were a little baby, we'd take you for drives in Mami's car when you were crying and couldn't sleep because you were overtired. Then we'd sing to you and rock you. It was the only thing that would calm you down." Brittany gazed over at Santana, sharing a look of fondness as they both treasured those early moments with their baby, even if everything was a little overwhelming and new to them at the time.

"How about me?" Summer asked.

"You were just the same, our precious screamy little baby. You loved when Mami sang Beach Boys for you over and over, and I'd join in." Brittany told him, she and her wife smiling at the memory. Santana thought those songs were cheesy but Summer loved them and it was the fastest way to get him to sleep.

The stories seemed to be enough to calm Marco down and they were sure he was drifting off to sleep but then his little voice piped up again.

"I think there's a monster outside in the living room!"

Summer shrieked when he heard this, burying his face in Santana's neck as she hugged him.

"Shh, don't cry." Santana murmured, stroking his back. He was so tiny.

"There's a monster?" Brittany perked up through a yawn, even though she was visibly exhausted. "Which one is it this time? Do you want to go outside and see if we can make friends?"

"We can't make friends with a monster, Mommy!"

"Oh. Why not?"

Marco blinked because he hadn't thought of that. He thought it over for a moment.

"Hmm, okay, Mommy." He eventually agreed, knowing that Brittany would be there with him for protection. Plus, if Mommy thought monsters were okay then she must be right. She knew everything in the universe.

Marco held Brittany's hand tightly as they went exploring the house together. She told him all about all of the fairies and ghosts she had met, who were actually kinda fun to hang out with according to his mom.

Santana had no idea what they were talking about when the two of them came back to the bedroom, whispering excitedly about how they fought off some mean ghost together but she was just glad her son was happy again. He was no longer trembling and pale-faced.

"Don't worry, Darling. You know, it's okay to be a scaredy cat sometimes but Mami and I are here to protect you from all of the ghosts and monsters, okay?" Brittany stroked his hair back from his forehead and kissed it tenderly. Santana did the same and then they laughed when their toddler demanded kisses as well. "Plus, I turned on the night light for you."

"Sleep tight, my little princes," Santana hummed, then kissed Brittany's lips softly. "Goodnight."

They were awakened only briefly when Lord Tubbington leapt onto the bed at some point, delighting both boys and Brittany who laughed, while Santana groaned in exasperation. He walked over them for a while, settling on Marco's chest and staring at his face, much to the giggling boy's amusement. The cat eventually curled up on the foot of the bed.

Halloween arrived before they knew it. It was really starting to get colder on that day. Brittany made her special ghost-shaped fried eggs, along with purple and green pancakes. Summer was her little helper as he really enjoyed learning how to cook, even though Brittany had some wacky recipes and Santana had no patience for it. Dinner later would be delivery pizza, which was another LoPierce tradition, as neither Brittany nor Santana felt like cooking.

Their boys were incredibly spoiled so they each got Halloween gifts from the Great Pumpkin the night before. They spent that night painting pumpkins - Summer was way more talented at that compared to his big brother - while Brittany and Santana carved their own.

The family gathered together to take pictures in the costumes Brittany had chosen. She was dressed up as Barbie, while Summer was an adorable, toddler-sized Ken in bright blue fluorescent clothes. They were both in plastic boxes to complete the look. Santana and Marco were decked out as two camouflage and bandolier-clad G.I. Joes, in giant plastic boxes as well.

"Barbie is even hotter than I thought. You look sexy, Babe. Dayum." Santana purred when she saw Brittany dressed up like that. The blonde posed for her, flattered by all of the attention Santana was giving her and batted her eyelashes as she giggled. Santana eventually turned to Summer and fawned over her son instead because the plastic was getting in the way of her being all over her wife. "And you are just adorable. Our sons are so beautiful, Britt."

"They really are," Brittany agreed. "They remind me of us."

"Well, we did make them, Britt. You're the prettiest doll I've ever seen. C'mere, I'll just kiss you through this stupid box if I have to."

"Santana, whoa, wait, hold on, I think you might break it," Brittany laughed at her clumsy, overenthusiastic wife who had almost knocked both of them over, eventually just taking both of their plastic shields off for the moment, so Santana could get to her. She put her arms around Santana's shoulders, giving her a once over. Santana's military outfit was close-fitting and sexy. "Mm, I can totally see why Barbie had that affair with G.I. Joe. She's totally hot."

"Glad you like it, Babe."

Santana was distracted by Brittany's lips on hers but they were forced to separate eventually when Marco ran back into the room, struggling to carry a certain massive grey tabby.

"Mommy, I think Lord Tubbington needs to go trick or treating with us!"

"Does he now?" Santana raised an eyebrow in amusement but both moms eventually agreed to it, knowing their boys would love it.

The boys couldn't stop staring at them. They loved the idea of their moms dressing up as a life-sized doll and action figure. It was as if toys had come to life. They took it a little too seriously, actually believing they had transformed into toys.

"Mommy, why I'm Barbie like you?" Summer asked adorably, innocently bewildered and tugging at her legwarmers. "Barbie a girl. Me a boy."

"Aw, no, Honey, you're a baby Ken doll. He's like a boy version of Barbie." Brittany pointed out and Summer accepted that explanation.

"Mami, I'm a soldier like you, so we can fight together," Marco told Santana proudly after he saw the exchange between his other mom and brother. "We're action figures!"

"That's right, Kid. We're G.I. Joes." Santana explained, laughing.

"I'm Mami's soldier."

"I guess you are." Santana bit back a smile.

"Like your cos-toom." Summer complimented Marco and their moms were touched when Marco allowed his little brother to hug him around the waist, although he was a little embarrassed. "You super strong!"

"Aw, look at you two brothers!" Brittany beamed. It was rare to see them getting along so well without squabbles over toys and attention. "You're so cute."

"You're my baby brother so I'll protect you from all the scary monsters, Summer," Marco declared as Summer watched him admiringly. "Just follow my lead."

"Yes, Sir."

They had to stop by Tina and Mike's place for their spectacular Halloween party before making their way to what Santana referred to as the "bougie" neighbourhoods to "get the really big candy bars." Of course, what Santana didn't mention was that Rachel lived in one of those fancy houses and she wanted to prank her house with toilet paper on the way home, with the boys' help.

"If you ask me, Berry's the scariest thing out at night." Santana snarked as Brittany snickered beside her.

"Mommy, I think you're right. Maybe monsters aren't so bad after all. I think - I think they're actually kind of fun!" Marco announced cheerfully, when they walked back to Santana's car after their last trick or treating session. The bag he was holding was filled to the max. Santana had threatened anyone who dared to not give her sons tons of candy and gave a death glare to anyone who didn't fawn over their costumes, ensuring that they had plenty of loot to go home with.

"See? There's nothing to be scared of, Sweetie. You conquered your fear and you did so well. I'm so proud of you." Brittany kneeled down to pull him into a hug as he wrapped his arms around her neck.

"It's because of your help, Mommy. You helped me not be so scared anymore!"

Santana stood to the side, holding her youngest son in her arms because he was too tired to walk anymore. She watched the scene with fondness etched onto her face. She loved seeing Brittany's maternal side with their sons. Seeing Brittany help Marco with his anxiety reminded her of a time when the blonde had helped Santana overcome her own deep fears.

"She's the best at that." Santana noted, catching her wife's eye as they both understood exactly what she was referring to, even if their sons didn't. Santana couldn't resist going over and stealing a kiss from her wife. Marco made a face, acting grossed out but his moms just smiled into their kiss.

"Ew, no Moms!" He cried in distaste, covering his eyes. "You're always kissing! What the heck!"

"Alright! Who's ready to go to Grandma's house?" Santana asked enthusiastically, looking over at the boys when she separated from her wife.

Marco groaned. He knew that when he was going to grandma's it meant "Mami and Mommy want some special time together" but he had no idea what could be so special. No one ever explained to him what they did.

"Why, are you gonna just kiss Mommy on the lips all night?" He retorted sassily as Summer looked over in interest and surprise at this gossip. Santana's jaw dropped, stunned speechless but Brittany just smirked, accustomed to Marco's sass. "Uh, ew, Moms! Gross!"

"Who told you that?" Santana responded, sputtering and taken aback as he stuck out his tongue at her. "This child is something else. Alright, Smarty Pants that's enough. Get in the car."

From the time he was a baby, Brittany and Santana had always dropped him over to Brittany's mother's house when they wanted a night to themselves. The truth was, whenever he stayed at his grandma's house for the night, it actually meant that Brittany and Santana were having a night of wild sex. Tonight was no different and Brittany smirked, shaking her head with a fond roll of her eyes because she knew exactly what Santana was so excited about.

Santana and Brittany dropped their sons off at Whitney and Pierce's soon after that. Marco put up a token fuss with some crocodile tears but instantly brightened up when he saw his grandparents and Summer waddled behind him into the Pierce house.

It was getting pretty late, after all, plus, Brittany knew Santana was dying for some intimate time and she felt the same. Both of them were up for some Barbie and G.I. Joe roleplay. Santana had never driven home so fast in her life.

"Can't wait to undress you everywhere, Barbie," Santana joked suggestively, referring to the Aqua Barbie Girl song they had played for their sons earlier for the first time. "Can I touch and play?"

"Mm, I bet. You're so horny. I don't know if Barbie should fool around with G.I. Joe again. Suppose everyone finds out?" Brittany teased.

"Scandalous. I really hope this Barbie's anatomically correct and I have a feeling she is. Guess I'll just have to unbox you when we get back to the dreamhouse and find out."

"I've always loved a woman in uniform."

Many rounds later, Santana lay in bed fully sated and panting with Brittany in an equal state of undress and curled into her side, both of their costumes in remnants scattered around the house.

"I think that set a record for us, Britt." Santana was smug.

"Mmm hm," She purred into Santana's shoulder, kissing it. "I wonder what our babies are doing. They're probably still awake watching cartoons with my mom. I meant it when I said I'm proud of him, for embracing his fears. I'm proud of you too."

"Thanks, Babe. It's all thanks to you. Without your support and love, I don't know if I could have ever found the courage."
