(AN: SURPRISE, I changed the name of the story! New name, same story)
The lead up and anticipation to the event seemed to take forever. Or, at least that was how Remus felt. He wondered if others felt the same way he did.
It wasn't just waiting to go get Harry on the 27th that Remus was feeling anticipation for. He couldn't help but feel absolute dread for the next full moon. He was sure Bill Weasley felt the same way. He couldn't bear to see someone else, resigned to the same fate he'd been.
But, that wasn't the only things weighing on him.
His wife's job was in jeopardy and he couldn't help but continue to blame himself as the days passed on.
They spilt most of the Order meetings between the Burrow and Ashlee's house, now. Ashlee had told him at the last meeting that she was going to be getting a stock of Wolfsbane potion soon. He had been waiting to hear from her about it. But he knew it was too late to use it this month anyway.
Remus tried to keep himself busy to stop from perseverating on the negative.
Meanwhile, The Order practiced and discussed every possible outcome imaginable for the 27th. Remus was grateful for it too.
They planned and planned. They could only hope it would be enough to keep them all safe and get Harry to safety too.
It had been decided who would be taking care of the transportation and subsequent shielding of Harry's relatives, along with who would be the Harry body doubles and who the protectors would be.
Eventually, they had all the details worked out. All that there was left to do was wait till the 27th.
On the morning of the full moon, Remus stayed in bed for a long time, it was a Sunday and Tonks had the day off, and she kept checking on him.
"I'm okay." He assured her when she came to check on him for the third time that morning.
"You sure? You don't usually lock yourself up in the bedroom unless you feel really sick?" She questioned.
He nodded.
"I'm sorry, I know you don't like to be fussed over."
"Im just tired. And i have a lot on my mine. I guess I just want quiet." He said.
Tonks nodded, accepting this, leaving him to his thoughts.
She couldn't help but worry that they were still on weird terms after what had happened with Umbridge. If it wasn't the full moon she wouldn't have been nearly as worried. But, she was concerned he'd hurt himself if his mood was too off.
Around 2 that afternoon, Tonks was relieved when Remus finally came out into the living room where she and Apricot were sitting.
"Hey." He greeted them quietly.
Apricot glared at Remus and shifted, moving away from him.
"Hey, you know want to sit?" She asked, patting the spot next to her.
Remus slowly went to sit with her. He was starting to have pain, and he felt relief spreading through him once he was warm under the blanket with Tonks.
He stroked her sweet soft legs, enjoying the feel of her skin.
"Anything I can get you, or do for you?" She asked. Sensing his discomfort.
Remus thought about it for a second and shook his head.
"Well, actually there is something." He mentioned.
She looked at him, waiting.
"Tonight, please put an Imperturbable charm on the basement when no one's watching. After Bill goes down to the basement. I'm going to stay as long as I can to support Molly, Arthur and Fleur, but I'll have to go eventually."
"He-he shouldn't be able to hear anyone and no one should be able to hear him. He deserves dignity, no matter what happens. But, I won't be there the whole time to make sure that happens. Please keep them all safe?" He begged her.
She nodded, picking at her fingers.
"I know, there's already some safety measures being put in place, but he deserves the dignity too." He added.
She looked up at him through her long eyelashes, her eyes searching, questioning.
"Do you feel like that wasn't something that was afforded to you, as a child?" She asked sadly.
Remus swallowed. He wasn't sure he was prepared for that question.
"Not particularly. But, I was young and scared and didn't know what I wanted. I couldn't know what to ask for at that time. Bill deserves privacy until he decides what he wants."
"D-do you think he's a werewolf?" She asked honestly.
Remus shook his head gravely. "I don't know. I don't think so. But, there's at least a 40% chance it could happen. That's a big deal." He told her grimly.
"Deep down I don't think he'll turn. But, don't say this to anyone else. They don't need false hope today." He pleaded.
She put her hand on his leg, "of course" she said, promising him.
She squeezed his leg a little, before running it up his leg.
She was hopeful to distract him. He'd been up tight all week long.
He looked at her quickly, and gave her a warning look.
"You sure?" She questioned,
"I want you to feel less stressed. Let me help you." She said. Undoing his pants, as his cock started to immediately stiffen.
She smiled a little at his immediate response.
"Dora. I'm fine" He warned, briskly.
"I'm worried we're not okay though. And, I'll worry more tonight if you're in a bad mood." She told him.
"I'm not in a bad -." He stopped.
"I'm sorry I've seemed that way. I don't want that. I just want what's best for you. I worry about how I affect you." He explained.
She nodded, rubbing him through his pants.
"I know. That's why I want to take all that off your mind. Let me help." She told him.
He groaned a little as she slipped her small hand into his pants.
He closed his eyes briefly.
"We dont have to have sex, I know you don't want that." She promised.
He groaned a little. 'Oh, i want that.' He thought.
He knew he shouldn't though. He didn't want the wolf to have her.
"Relax" She crooned softly, slipping his swollen and overly engorged member from his pants.
"Mmmmmm." She purred in excitement and approval.
He sighed. Not daring look at her.
She gasped a little as it expanded even more in her hand, feigning shock and surprise.
Remus smirked slightly. She was being alluring on purpose.
He felt her lips graze over the prominent head of his cock.
He gasped a little, throwing his head back and looking up at the ceiling.
A few hours later Remus stirred awake on the sofa, he was overheating under one too many blankets.
He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
Next to him, he could see that Tonks was dressed to go out.
He realized he must have fell asleep at some point.
He pushed the blankets off himself, pushing himself to sit up, slowly.
His body ached.
He was pretty sure he'd been having a dream, but he couldn't remember what it was about.
"Wotcher." Tonks greeted him.
He smiled briefly at her.
"Hey, what time is it?" He asked,
"It's almost time to go to Shell Cottage."
He nodded.
He looked at his watch, it was already 4pm. He knew, eventually he had to get dressed too, to go to Shell Cottage.
"I'm gonna go change." Remus told her, after sitting for a few minutes, kissing her on the head
Around 545, Remus and Tonks emerged onto the beach in front of shell cottage.
"Don't forget, my dad is going to be at the flat tonight. So, if you end up going back there just know he'll be there." Remus told her.
She smiled warmly. "I know. I'm probably going to stay here all night. Or, most of it.I'll meet you back home in the morning, as long as everything goes okay." Tonks said.
He nodded.
"Let's go." She said, Holding his hand.
They walked up to the front door to knock, but Molly must have waiting by the window for them because she opened the door as they approached.
"Oh you're here?" Molly exclaimed.
"Is everything alright, Molly?" Remus asked, sensing something was off.
"It's Bill. He went out for a walk a little while ago, he's still not back. I heard you two and thought maybe it was him coming back. Arthur went out to look for him. He's not back either."
"Molly come sit with me." Tonks said, hoping to try to calm her. looking over at Remus.
He looked extremely concerned.
"Where was he supposed to be going? Just up the beach?" Remus asked.
Molly nodded.
"Yes."
Fleur was sitting in front of one of the kitchen windows, waiting for Bill to return.
Remus looked down at his watch. Bill needed to be in the basement soon, within 30 minutes.
"I'm going to go look for him, Molly." explained Remus.
"I'm gonna walk the beach, see if I can find them. Try not to worry we still have some time he might've just needed to clear his head."
He tried to calm her down. He didn't want her to think that he had runoff. He was probably just working up the nerve to come back.
Molly nodded frantically.
"You'll be okay?" Tonks asked, eyeing him.
He nodded.
"I'll try to make it quick."
Remus walked down the beach just a short way
He found Bill a few hundred yards down the beach, hidden from sight behind a large boulder, trying to skip rocks on the ocean.
"Did my mother send you?" He asked impassively without looking at Remus.
Remus sighed walking over to stand next to the younger man.
"In a manner of speaking. She's a wreck back there. She's worried."
"What else is new?" Bill asked sarcastically.
"I chose to come to check on you. Your mother didn't ask." Remus was honest.
Bill looked at him.
"I still have some time." Bill said.
"You do. I can leave you here if you'd like." Remus offered.
Bill shook his head. "No, I'll go back with you. Give me a minute."
Remus nodded.
"I'm just not ready to go back." he admitted.
Remus didn't say anything, but watched Bill at his haphazard attempt at skipping rocks.
After a few minutes, Bill tossed the remaining rocks he had onto the sandy beach.
"Let's go." Bill said.
They walked together back along the beach.
"You know, I wish I could say something more beneficial right now." Remus said.
Bill shook his head.
"Not sure there's much to say." He replied
"I know. But, if you wanted to ask questions, perhaps i could answer them for you." Remus said, gravely.
"I'm not sure I have anything to ask, really." He shrugged. "Were you scared the first time?" He asked.
Remus nodded.
"I was petrified. Completely terrified. I couldn't really even comprehend what was going to happen to me. I just knew it was bad." Remus explained, his brow furrowed in concern.
Bill didn't say much. "Thank you." He said quietly.
After a few moments, he looked to Remus.
"I'm scared too.." he admitted
He scoffed at the thought, it felt unfair and violating. All of it.
Remus tried to gage how he was feeling.
Bill looked off onto in horizon, at the Sun starting set over the water.
"My fiancé and my mother have to lock me in the basement tonight, like-like-like a-." Bill wasn't sure exactly what he wanted to say.
"Like, a monster?" Remus asked, gravely. His mouth pressing into a grim frown.
Bill looked embarrassed.
"Yeah I guess so." Bill said, quietly. ashamed.
"I'm sorry. That's awful. I shouldn't think things like that." Bill said, shaking his head.
"It's okay. It's how you feel. It's alright to feel that way, sometimes I do too" Remus consoled him, trying to be honest.
Bill shifted a little uncomfortably, but nodded.
When they walked back in Molly was the first one to jump up.
Remus looked, around. Arthur was there now too.
"Where did you go? I was terrified." She scolded.
"You act like I was a 6 year old lost on a crowded beach, mom. I was like 1000 yards away."
Molly looked a little flustered, but patted Bill on the arm.
"I'm sorry, I'm fussing." Molly admitted.
"I'm fussing" she reiterated, coming to sit down.
"It's okay." Bill said, going to sit next to Fleur.
Fleur's usually flawless complexion was masked by worry and concern.
She looked scared.
Remus felt awful for them all. He could tell by looking at Tonks that she felt the same way.
For a few minutes, everyone mingled in quiet voices, the ones you'd typically hear during a death bed vigil.
It set Remus' teeth on edge.
"Well, it's about time." Arthur eventually mentioned.
Tonks watched Remus check his watch and nod.
It was exactly 6pm.
Remus kept watching Molly while they all prepared for Bill to go downstairs.
They hugged somberly but none of them were overly tearful though. Which in some ways surprised Remus. He had expected Molly especially to become very upset.
"Okay, I'm going to lock myself in, now." Bill told them, going to close the basement door.
Remus watched Bill close the door to the cellar with bated breath. He found himself holding his breath once the door was fully closed.
Nobody said anything for several long moments, they could hear Bills footsteps descending into the basement..
Remus tried not to grimace.
"Bill?" Mrs Weasley called shakily called through the thick door.
"Yeah, mom?" Bills voice broke through the door.
"I-I love you." She squeaked.
"I love you too mom."
Fleur said something to Bill in French that Remus couldn't understand.
Then, they were all silent again.
"Molly, why don't i make you some tea?" Arthur suggested sweetly, breaking the silence.
Molly nodded and followed Arthur, Fleur and Remus back into the kitchen. Tonks was the last one back into the kitchen.
He looked at her searching her face for the answer he wanted.
She nodded just slightly, only enough for him to notice.
Remus sighed a small sigh of relief. She performed the charm.
Tonks almost felt badly for not telling Bill about it, but he deserved dignity. She kept reminding herself that.
" ou you ave to leave soon?" Fleur asked Remus, in a thick French accent.
"I can stay for a little while longer. The longer I've been this way, the shorter the time I'm transformed." Remus explained.
"Ow long did that take to happen?" Fleur asked, pensively.
Remus blinked. "It took awhile to start happening. A few years at least." He explained grimly.
Together they drank their tea quietly. Only occasionally speaking.
Remus kept looking at his watch.
The moon had started to rise over the water and the colorful skies had begun to turn to black.
Remus knew, that it would have already started to happen if Bill was going to turn.
Eventually, Remus knew he'd have to leave soon. He wanted to make sure he gave himself time to get situated at his fathers.
Remus looked down at his watch one more time. It was 7.
The last hour had gone by so slowly. But, he was proud of how composed they all still were. this was stressful he had been expecting more of an emotional response especially from Molly.
She just sat, staring at her cold tea. Swirling the contents around.
"Here, let me heat that up for you, Molly." Tonks said, taking her cup and pointing her wand at it.
"Just be careful it's hot." She warned.
Molly accidentally touched it anyway and recoiled when her fingertip grazed the hot cup.
"Molly be careful." Arthur scolded her.
Molly stoop up abruptly, wiping her hands on her front.
"Ahh, I should go check on Bill." Molly said.
Remus' throat constricted at this, and he shot a look at Arthur who clearly understood his concerns.
"Molly" Arthur warned getting up to follow her into the hall.
"Molly, listen to me, we've done all we can, we have to wait now." Arthur told her.
"Bill, Bill?" She called through the door
"Molly?" Arthur repeated himself.
"Do not! Arthur. I hear you! I'll do what I want he's my son!" Molly broke down, her voice breaking into uncontrollable sobs.
Remus Fleur and Tonks just sat at the table, not knowing what to do.
"Bill??" She cried.
But there was only silence.
"Bill, answer me?" She called again.
Suddenly, Fleur was also crying.
"Why isn't he answering her?" She cried into her hands. "He always answers her." She wailed into a cloth.
Tonks immediately ran over, rubbing Fleur on the back.
"It's okay. It's okay." She whispered to her.
Of course Tonks didn't know that, but it was the only comfort she could offer.
Remus could feel his palms start to sweat. They were starting to lose it.
"Molly, come into the kitchen." Arthur demanded, guiding his wife out of the hallway.
"No, don't tell me what to do!" She cried.
Remus looked at Arthur, he looked shocked.
Molly pushed past Arthur going back to the basement door.
Molly cried and pounded the door, calling to Bill again.
Arthur gave Remus a desperate look, he didn't know what to do.
Remus felt he needed to try to get Molly back to the kitchen where she was safest. He was worried she was going to try to open the door. He was hyper fixated on her wand sticking out of her apron pocket.
"Molly." He said forcefully, touching her on the arm.
She looked at him, terrified.
Their eyes briefly met.
Remus wasn't sure why, Maybe It was because she had the same eyes as her daughter, but for some reason when he looked into the depths of her eyes, it was almost like looking into a child's eyes, so many fears and unknowns were there. She was beyond terrified.
"There's nothing else you can do now. You have to wait. You need to go back into the kitchen." Remus said.
Molly went to argue.
"Eventually, he'll come back out." He added.
Molly gave him a tragically sad look.
"I can come back first thing in the morning if need be. I'll send word to Tonks when I'm-well, when I'm back to myself. It'll be around 5, Okay."
Molly nodded, looking like she was going to throw up her lunch. But she followed him back onto the kitchen. Molly walked around the table to sit next to Fleur who was crying quietly. they held each other crying.
Arthur stood against the wall, looking devastated.
"I'm sorry." He announced to them all. "But, I have to go. I'll come back as soon as I can."
Arthur looked like he understood. Remus hoped he did.
He made eye contact with Tonks one more time before leaving.
Remus sat at his father's kitchen counter and was finishing off the remains of an amber liquid in a glass.
His father had been gone when he arrived and he needed to steady himself that night. he had the time and fixed himself a drink, and sat and thought about Bill and everyone at Shell Cottage.
The drink helped steady his nerves. Which he was grateful for.
A little after 8pm, Remus went downstairs into the basement.
He completed his typical pre transformation ritual. he deposited his watch and clothes in the hallway outside the cellar door, and went down into the basement.
He sat on the bottom step of the stairs for awhile
The last thing he remembered was the shadow of the moon streaming in from the small window in the cellar.
Tonks felt like she had held her breath for the last hour.
Bill still hadn't come back out from the basement. Molly had lost her will to continue sitting vigil at the kitchen table and had tearfully retreated into the sitting room with Fleur.
Leaving Tonks and Arthur in the kitchen.
Arthur stood against the wall, in view of the cellar door, and Tonks sat at the table. Stoic and quiet. She had a feeling Arthur wasn't going to leave the kitchen until his son came back upstairs.
Tonks had decided she would stay in the kitchen as long as Arthur did.
"How do you do this every month?" Arthur asked her in a sobering way.
Tonks shook her head. "With great difficulty." She assured him.
Arthur sighed heavily and looked at his watch.
It was well past 8 now and it was totally dark outside.
Tonks had lost faith that Bill was okay. She couldn't help but think he'd have already come upstairs if nothing had happened.
Tonks tapped her fingers and Arthur looked at his watch every five minutes.
Around 915, they heard a small noise from the hall that made them both leap off their seats.
Arthur darted into the hall first, and the commotion must have alerted Molly and Fleur, that something was happening, because suddenly they were in the kitchen again as well.
"Bill!" Mrs. Weasley screamed and she ran through the kitchen into the hall. Tonks just saw the top of Bill's head, behind his mother's embrace.
She closed her eyes, and sighed heavily. He was fine.
