It felt like the week or two after Mad Eye died went by in slow motion.

Tonks and Remus mostly just spent time at home together when Tonks wasn't at the office.

The first time they had left their apartment after Mad Eyes death was for an Order meeting at Ashlee's house.

Kingsley ran the meeting which was weird for Tonks. She wondered if it felt weird for anyone else. She was so used to Mad Eye running the meetings.

Remus stroked her back with his hand during the meeting, perhaps he could tell it was weird for her too.

After the meeting, several people stayed back and had lunch with Ashlee, and Tonks was grateful for the distraction.

About halfway through tea, Ashlee brought out Remus' stock of Wolfsbane that she had promised him at a previous meeting.

"Here. This should be enough 4 maybe 5 moon cycles. I have more whenever you need it. I got enough ingredients for a year or so."

"Thank you, I appreciate it. I'm sure the ingredients were hard to get." Remus said, clearly embarrassed for asking for the help.

"And, I'm sure brewing it took forever. Thank you, I know how busy you've been running supplies to Deadalus and Hestia." He explained.

Ashlee had been making deliveries to Harry's relatives and their guard every few days. She was one of the few people that knew where they were.

But tonks was glad for the help, at least she knew he would be safe for the next few full moons. That was extremely comforting.

"Well, yes, and no. I've been shipping them in from Salem. As long as I pay them or send them other goods back, they'll send me just about anything." Ashlee explained.

Remus shifted a little uncomfortably at the mention of the price but let it slide, and nodded.

Just then, Arthur interrupted them.

"Remus, would you mind helping us for a second? We're a little lopsided out here?" Arther called to him.

He and Bill had offered to stay for lunch to help Ashlee pack away the event tent she had outside, as they were going to be

taking it to use for Bill and Fleur's wedding.

She needed magic to be able to pack it away for them, but as a vampire had very little magical abilities left, beyond potion making.

Remus stood up quickly to go help.

"I'll be back." He told them.

"Ashlee." Fleur mused in her French accent. When Remus had walked outside, leaving just her, Ashlee and Tonks in the oversized kitchen.

"Oo you av all manner of potions and ingredients?" She asked.

"Pretty much. And, like I said what I don't have I can usually order or find."

"Hmm, I av not been able to find the herbs for ze contraception potion."

This peaked Tonks interest. If Fleur couldn't find the ingredients perhaps when her stock ran out she wouldn't either.

"Oh? Have you been using the potion routinely?" Ashlee asked her.

"Where'd you get it before?" She asked.

"Ahhh. Ah, not so much." Fleur explained.

"Oh?" Tonks thought. She was a virgin. Tonks felt a new wave of sympathy for the girl for some reason.

"I'll try to see what I can do to source more, soon. But, if needed there is a charm you could do, but there's pitfalls." Ashlee explained.

Fleur nodded.

"Well, every method can have its pitfalls." Tonks further explained.

"I'll ask around. Don't worry. The ingredients aren't extremely hard to source so i probably can whip some up, I sorta have a lot of free time." Ashlee said.

Fleur sighed. "Thank you." She said quickly as Molly bristled back into the kitchen from outside.

"Well, the tents all packed up. We'll have it back to you as soon as possible, I promise." Molly said, smiling.

Tonks stared out the window deep in thought.

Her eyes going slightly wide at a passing thought.

She had forgotten to take her potion after Mad Eye died.

Her mouth went a little dry at the thought. She tried not to freak out internally, and tried to calm herself down, reasoning with herself.

'Don't worry, you have the ingredients to make a potion to check to make sure you aren't pregnant and then you'll just be more careful' she ranted to herself internally.

Meanwhile, Molly and Ashlee were still talking.

" Will you be coming to Harry's party tomorrow tonight?" Molly asked,

"No, unfortunately I have to go see the Dursleys. They need more supplies." Ashlee explained bitterly.

Tonks felt nervous as they waited to go back to their flat. Her palms were sweaty, and she kept wiping them on her pants. She could tell Remus noticed this, as he kept looking over at her when she'd wipe her hands on her black jeans.

Tonks and Remus eventually said their goodbyes and walked together contented back to their flat.

"I didn't want to say anything about it while we were there. But, are you okay? You seemed tense while we were there." Remus asked her as they rounded the street corner they lived on.

"Mmm. To tell you the truth I'm a little on edge." She admitted, looking down at the concrete. She knew she should tell him the truth, but she was worried.

But, the idea was erased almost instantly.

"Oh no. Oh Fuck." She interrupted herself when she saw the headline that stuck out on that afternoon edition of the Prophet that waited for them on their doorstep.

"Creature Watch List Released, Muggle Born Registration Rumored To Begin Soon."

Tonks and Remus brought the paper inside. In it, it listed 8 magical creatures that the ministry had labeled as "highly dangerous and potentially harmful to the public's health and wellbeing."

The list read: Red listed part humans restricted in new mandates.

'Inferious

Werewolves

Vampires

Centaurs

Giants

MerPeople

Goblins

Red Caps'

Werewolves were listed just under Inferi as the 2nd highest rated and most likely part humans to inflict bodily injury or death.

On the second page there was an expose on the Ministry.

"Inside Ministry officials vehemently deny the allegations about the alleged Muggle-born registration rumors." It read.

They read over every inch of the paper twice just to make sure they didn't miss anything

"Was this why you were so anxious? Did you know this was coming out?"

Tonks shook her head. "No," she wanted to be truthful.

" We fucked up. I fucked up. I realized I forgot to take one of my potions after Mad Eye died."

By the look on his face she could tell he knew what she meant.

"Oh?" Remus shifted slightly.

"Are you sure? Maybe you're mistaken?" He asked.

Tonks and Remus stared into her potions cabinet in the kitchen. There was definitely one too many contraceptive potions there.

"We should probably double check to make sure you're not pregnant." Remus said, stoically.

"Would you be angry?" She asked.

"Oh. I wouldn't be angry with you." He told her hugging her.

She nodded, before going into the bathroom with the ingredients she needed along with her potion book.

Tonks was freaked out and made the quick potion in double time.

Tonks added the same amount of urine to the potion that the book called for and held her breath.

On the other side of the door Remus was quietly pacing back and forth.

At first he wasn't that worried but he became increasingly more concerned the longer Tonks was in the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Tonks must have stared at the finished potion for five full minutes.

The potion was a light orange that was to indicate early pregnancy.

"Dora, you've-you've been in there awhile. Are you okay?" He asked.

She could tell by something in his voice he knew why she hadn't come out yet.

"I'm going to the bathroom, I'll be right out." She said in a neutral tone.

He had said he wouldn't be angry. But she was still worried about his reaction.

She took forever washing her hands and drying them.

She grabbed the doorknob and twisted it, opening the door.

Remus sat up from his seat at the kitchen table.

"I think- It looks positive." She said, hopeful to soften the blow.

"L-let me see it." He said, walking straight into the bathroom.

He read the directions in the potion book, and stared at the small cup with orange fluid in it for awhile, it was a pregnant pause, it seemed to go on forever before he spoke.

"P-perhaps we should have you do it again later? Or, tomorrow morning? It says in the books that it's most reliable when you do it first thing in the morning." He said, trying to calm himself. The easiest thing for him to believe at that moment was that the test was just wrong.

"We have to go to Harry's party soon too." He added, trying to distract himself.

Tonks nodded. "I can take the test again tomorrow morning."

Remus nodded.

"I'm gonna go get dressed." He told her, before walking off.

Tonks sighed. She really hadn't been able to gauge his feelings based off of that reaction. He didn't particularly seem upset or happy. She wasn't really sure what to make of that. She almost would've preferred if he had yelled and screamed, cried even.

His silence was deafening. As they both got ready he was silent and didn't speak it all. Tonks wondered if he was lost in thought.

Right as they were about to leave, they were finishing up some tea when Remus finally spoke.

"A-are you nervous, a-about the test?" He asked. Trying to figure out how she felt about the whole thing.

"I'm not sure. I guess a bit, yeah. I'm sure you're worried? We could talk about it, if you wanted?" She asked.

Remus grimaced a little as he sipped the last sips of his tea, but didn't say anything.

"We should probably leave soon, we don't want to be late."

Tonks didn't say anything at first, but nodded.

She wondered if perhaps he just wasn't ready to talk about it. And, at that moment, she really wanted the test to be negative tomorrow.

She didn't know what the test would say.

Tonks knew only one thing. That no matter what happened, tomorrow they would find out if they were going to have a baby or not.

Tonks and Remus walked up the path that lead to the Burrow in silence.

Remus was dreading what the test tomorrow would bring.

He hoped he did an okay job of putting on a brave face when he wished Harry a Happy Birthday but he feared he didn't.

He was grateful however for the minimal distraction that the party was bringing. He couldn't turn his brain off. His thoughts kept racing about the possible negative consequences that could ensue if his wife was truly pregnant.

Remus was brought back to the present when Molly brought out the most spectacular cake he had ever seen in his life.

"Wow, Molly that's amazing. You're so talented." Tonks gushed.

"Oh, thank you so much, dear." Molly smiled.

Remus couldn't help but also be quite impressed as well. The cake was delicious.

About halfway through dessert, Molly gasped, standing up.

"Oh, the minister." She screeched, her chair almost falling over behind her.

'Fuck' Remus thought to himself. They should probably leave. It was too late in the day. With the new rules and the regulations only getting harsher he had to go.

"I'm sorry, we should go. We shouldn't be here. I'll explain later Harry." Remus explained, as he stood to leave.

Tonks followed him quickly out of the gate, leading away from the property.

"I'm sorry." Remus said to her miserably as they turned down their street towards their flat.

Tonks' brow furrowed just slightly at this.

"It's not your fault, Remus. You don't need to apologize." Tonks attempted to pacify him.

Remus shook his head a little.

"Ha, It certainly feels like it is." He chuckled in a miserable tone.

Tonks stopped in her tracks, determined to say something to him, but he kept on walking down the street without her and turned walking up the steps to their flat.

Tonks sighed.

He was upset, and not just about the party, or being a werewolf. Tonks was fairly certain he was mad with her as well.
