Chapter 9
Bonnie placed a beer down before her husband letting out a breath.
Jack grabbed the beer watching the door as he continued to occasionally look at his compass with furrowed brows. He looked over at Gibs. "How are we doing?"
"Counting those four? That gives us four." He lowered his voice for Jack and Bonnie to hear. "I've written a letter to my brother-in-law. He's a lawyer in London. Good one. Nothing better happen to me."
"I make no promises."
Bonnie let out a breath shaking her head lightly. "Jack…" She said giving him a look.
"You'd best be coming up with a new plan, Jack, and it better not be relying on that Compass. he whole crew knows it ain't worked since you was saved from the gallows." He said moving away from Jack and Bonnie.
Morgan came over putting a beer in front of Gibbs before joining him to talk to the next potential person joining the crew.
"What's your story?" Gibbs questioned looking at the man that was before him.
The man was unshaven, unkept, drunk. Raising his head to look at Gibbs. "My story. Same as your story, just one chapter behind. I became obsessed with capturing a notorious pirate... chased him across the seven seas. I lost all perspective. I was consumed. The pursuit cost me my crew, my commission... my life." He took Gibbs' bottle.
Morgan stopped looking at the man before her. "Commodore?" Her voice came out fairly softly. She was surprised that he even was here.
James let out a scoff shaking his head. "Not any more. Weren't you listening? Nearly had you all off Tripoli. Would have, if not for the hurricane… My crew said to sail around. Should have listened."
"Lord. You didn't try to sail through?" Gibbs questioned looking at James like he had gone insane chasing them through a hurricane.
"So what is it? Do I make your crew, or not?" He stated taking a long drink from the bottle he stole. He leaned towards Gibbs his eyes rather clear even though he was drunk off of his ass in a bar that he should've never been in.
Gibbs looked up towards Morgan with a weary gaze.
"You haven't said where you're going someplace nice?" He then suddenly flipped the table. "So am I worthy to serve under Captain Jack Sparrow…" He turned and pulled his pistol out. "Or should I just kill you now?" He said pointing the gun at Jack who was trying to sneak away.
Bonnie let out a breath shaking her head lightly. She should have known that it would come down to this. Something dangerous and likely to get them killed.
Jack forced a smile onto his face not wanting to make things worse in a rowdy bar that could cause a fight between anyone in there. "You're hired."
James's lips quirked into a smile. "Sorry - old habits die and all that." He went to fire when a man stopped him grabbing his arm.
"Easy, soldier -"
"Aye, that's our Captain you be threatening -"
James turned and swung his shot goes off wild.
Morgan let out a breath as the Irishman ducked down backwards before slipping and falling onto a table.
James grabbed a sword and began to fight the other pirates that were there in the bar.
Jack, Gibbs, Bonnie, and Morgan all looked at one another.
"Time to go." Jack pointed out knowing that this would cause more trouble.
"Aye."
Bonnie let out a breath grasping her sword with her hand as they tried to avoid the fighting that was going on around them.
Jack danced through the melee unharmed. He stooped over a man who was knocked out trying his hat on realizing too small.
Morgan caught a bottle that was headed in their direction and put it down onto the table as they moved through the crowd. She looked down watching James for a few moments when her mother grabbed her arm.
"Come on." Bonnie told her daughter softly.
Morgan let out a breath knowing that this was a dangerous side of James that she was seeing. Perhaps he really did lose his way and was only interested in hunting her father down to send him to the gallows even though he had done a good thing by helping James rescue Will and the crew of the Pearl even though they were pirates.
They made it out of the bar unhurt going towards the Pearl.
Bonnie grabbed a crate before heading up the pathway with her brows furrowed together.
Morgan looked over to a pig pen seeing that James was being thrown out of the bar. She shook her head lightly as she headed up the rampway to get onto the ship. Perhaps this was a bad idea of having James onboard when he was a loose cannon.
Bonnie put the crate down that she had gotten to look at her daughter. "Knowing that you weren't expecting him here." Bonnie said putting her hand on her daughter's shoulder.
"Knew he was out here somewhere…" Morgan said letting out a soft breath shaking her head lightly. "He thinks that Father is still the enemy when we have something much more dangerous on our horizon."
Bonnie's lips quirked a little bit into a small smile. "You've grown into a wonderful young woman and I can tell that your heart lies with him."
Morgan shook her head lightly. "My heart lies with no one." She said softly moving away from the rails letting out a breath. "My heart lies with the Pearl and the crew."
Bonnie let out a soft hum knowing that wasn't true. "I'm sure that's not the case." She mused softly remembering her time when she was young and meeting Jack. There was nothing different from what was happening with Morgan at that moment. Much like her heart lied with Jack; Morgan's heart lied with James Norrington a fine man when he wanted to be even if he was on the other side of the law then what they were.
She watched her daughter with careful eyes knowing that this was something that her and Jack was going to have to talk about. Perhaps Morgan was indeed in love or at least fancied James Norrington. But she knew that Jack wouldn't take it.

I know that I need to add more to make the chapters longer. We have 21 chapters total and I think that it is a good rounded number. I'm excited to show you guys what happens next.
