Demetri and Jorgensen headed to Malfor as the other set up their camp. Malfor was anxious as he could feel the tension coming off Jorgenson even from a distance. As soon as they got close enough Jorgenson grabbed him by his shirt and slammed him up against the stable wall.
"Woah woah." Demetri yelled as he tried to pull the Dragonborn off of Malfor.
"He's on our side. Malfor has been a valuable informant of mine for years now." Octavio said.
He knew he couldn't do much to stop Jorgenson if he wanted to and was really planning for cooler heads to prevail here. He and Malfor were both beyond relived when Jorgensen let go and they both let out a huge sigh.
"My apologies to both of you, I should have let you know who he was beforehand. As I was saying, this is Malfor. He has been a double agent on our behalf for quite some time. He's been an invaluable source of information for me." Demetri introduced them.
"Well, I was. I believe my cover is blown as Elenwen didn't warn me before the attack. So, I suppose I'm with you now." Malfor said as he looked at Jorgensen.
"Unless I'm on my own."
"That remains to be seen." Jorgensen stated curtly.
"You were partially right. The Ink Son was lying about some of his claims. He does have Vhornyak in his custody, he is being kept alive, he claims he intends to……eat him It seems. Travius was stuck into a battle with Volonare during the attack. Travius is still alive, technically." Malfor told him.
"Technically? Where is he and where is my Niece?" Jorgensen asked.
"Seems some of his wife's connections from her past managed to help her and the girls escape. You will have to get an explanation from her about that. She accepted their help but doesn't seem too happy about it.
Your niece and Aratore are with them now. I was able to use the distraction your arrival caused to help them escape. They are safe for now." Malfor answered.
Jorgensen looked Malfor over. He seemed genuine and he was starting to see past the uniform he was wearing.
"Can you take me to them?" Jorgensen asked him.
"Of course. They requested that I do exactly that. In my own accord I will insist it is only you. Then trust they are placing on me I would think is very frail and bringing an Imperial agent to their hideout could fracture it." Malfor said to them both.
"I can quite understand discretion. Do you have any idea where Vhornyak is being held? Seems like his time is of the essence." Demetri asked.
"The carriage he was in headed west out of the city when you arrived. It was a one horse carriage with heavy cargo, they couldn't have gotten far."
"We'll find him. You tend to your people and we'll meet at the camp."
……………..
Vhornyak awoke as the carriage he was on must of pulled off the road. He was barely alive as it was and this rough terrain didn't help as every bump they hit caused a spike of pain in his wounds. He could feel a burn on several wounds on his back. He was confused as to why they would remove the arrows and Cauterize the wounds. His stomach and arm both pulsating with pain. He noticed they attempted to pull the spear from the flail out of his stomach but were unable to do so and they just tried to burn around it to keep from bleeding. His arm was tied off tightly with a rope to stop the bleeding.
He felt something soft on his leg and tried to see what it was when he saw Mud laying down in his carriage with him. He smiled at Mud and the dog immediately crawled over to him and began licking his face.
"You miss me or just hungry boy? Didnt happen to bring me a healing potion did you? or better yet, some Ale." Vhornyak asked as he petted the dog's head.
Seeing as Vhornyak was awake, Mud excitedly crawl back to his feet and grabbed Vhornyak's arm and laid it on top his chest.
Vhornyak chuckled as he picked up the half of his arm and looked at it.
"You tried buddy. No potions in there." He said as he petted the dog again.
"If you're with me I guess Aratore didn't make it."
Mud then grabbed one of the fingers with his mouth and started wagging his tail.
"Look Mud, I've done some weird stuff in my life but tug of war with my own amputated arm is a bit much even for me." He said as he tried to pet him again.
Mud shook his head away this time and laid his paws on the arm and then put his mouth on the gauntlet. He picked at it with his teeth as if he was trying to pry it open when it suddenly dawned on Vhornyak.
"You DID bring me a potion" he said. As he reached over with his right hand and popped open the secret compartment on the gauntlet to reveal the three potions from the college.
He looked it over and inspected it. He wasn't quite sure how to remove the potions without breaking the Vial, even if he could get them out he didn't have an applicator.
He thought about putting it over his other hand but the left handed gauntlet would not fit over his right hand. He realized what he needed to do. With his one hand he tried to remove the gauntlet from his severed limb but wasn't able to pull it out. Mud finally grabbed on to the end of the gauntlet with his mouth and Vhornyhak grabbed onto his own severed limb and pulled it off. Mud laid it down in his chest and Vhornyak picked it back up and sighed.
He slowly took the gauntlet and started to push it onto his stump. The sensitive open wound sent jolts of intense pain through his body as the gauntlet crudely rubbed it. It took everything he had not to yell in pain. Once he was confident it was secured he popped out the red gem.
He could feel all the wounds on his back begin to tingle as they healed and he could feel the severed arm began to heal but to his dismay did not grow back. The potion tried to push the spear from his stomach but was getting stuck due to the spikes in it.
He took one deep breath and started to pull
It out. He could feel it ripping his organs but then the tingle of the healing potion as it inches further and further out of his body. The fact that it healed right away did not take away the pain of having your guts ripped and from the insides. Mud tried his best to make him comfortable by running his head on his legs.
Vhornyak was in tears as he tried not to make any noise even with the intense pain as to not alert whoever was driving this carriage. He was in a bit of a hurry now as he felt the carriage slowing down and come to and top.
He finally pulled the spear al the way out of his body as the open wound rapidly healed itself
Just as he heard the drivers talking. He tried to remain silent but his own body betrayed him as the relief to his stomach caused a loud fart to leave his body. Mud whined and covered his nose with his paws.
"What was that?!" He heard from outside the covers
"Oh no. Is he dead now? That psychotic Briarheart will lose his already rotted mind if he spoils before he gets ready to….butcher him."
"The Dragonborn just showed up. The Ink Son is the least of my concern now."
"If he's dead he's probably going to eat us instead"
"He's not eating anyone. It's just a way to get into peoples heads."
The cover was pulled off the back of the carriage.
"Where did this dog come from?" One of them said.
Mud immediately jumped up and lunged at one of them, biting into his throat as he fell to the ground. Vhornyak quickly grabbed the end of the spear he just removed from his own stomach and ran it right through the chest of one of his captors, killing him instantly.
The third and final Militia soldier backed up and pulled his sword and Vhornyak stood up out of the carriage.
"Don't try me beast. I have a weapon. How do you plan to fight with one arm?" He said with a trembling voice.
Vhornyak immediately lunged at him and tackled him to the ground, knocking his sword out of his hands. Vhornyak took his right fist and sent a powerful punch to the man's head, cracking his helmet. Vhornyak pulled the broken helmet off and repeatedly punched him until his skull cracked and collapsed. He was long dead but Vhornyak continued punching until his head was a pile of mush.
"I think I'll be fine" he said.
