Marinette's alarm clock rings, meaning it's time for school. She had mentally prepared herself for weeks to confess to Adrien. She was excited, but also really nervous. She quickly gets ready for school.
" Today's the day, Tikki!"
" Good luck, Marinette! And remember, just be yourself," Tikki said.
" Right. Just be myself!" Marinette repeats.
She takes off for school, taking breakfast along with her.
" Bye,mom!"
She races off to school. She hopes Adrien feels the 's been pining over him since they met and it took her several weeks to gather the courage to tell him. She enters the school building. She looks around for Adrien and finds him at his locker, strolling through his phone. You run over to him.
" Adrien!"
" Huh? Oh, hey, Marinette!" Adrien greeted.
" Hey, Adrien! I have something to tell you!" Marinette proclaimed.
" Of course! What is it?" Adrien asked.
" I…."
" You….?"
" Have been in love with you since we met!"Marinette blurted.
" Oh…" Adrien said.
" What's wrong?" Marinette asked, though she was pretty sure she already knew the answer.
" I'm sorry, Marinette, but I'm in love with someone else. I'm so sorry," Adrien explained.
" N- no, it's fine. I was being stupid. Of course you're in love with someone else. I'm sorry."
Marinette runs off with tears in her eyes.
" Marinette, wait!" Adrien called.
She ignores him, not able to face him. Chloe and Lila laugh and spread the news. Soon, everyone knows that Marinette confessed to Adrien, only to be rejected. She enters the classroom, and Chloe and Lila immediately pick on her.
" I can't believe you actually thought you had a chance with him." Lila laughs.
" Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!" Chloe added.
" Leave her alone, Lila and Chloe." Alya demanded.
" Mind your own business, loser!" Chloe snapped.
" Is that the best insult you've got?!" Alya retorted.
Miss. Bustier claps her hands, getting everyone's attention. " Alright, that's enough. Chloe, Lila, it's not nice to laugh at others."
Lila immediately feigns innocence. " You're right, Miss. Bustier. I'm sorry, Marinette."
" I'm not. She's a baker girl. Adrien is the son of the most famous fashion designer Gabrielle Agreste. He's way out of his league." Chloe remarked.
Marinette runs out of the classroom.
" Now, look what you did!" Miss. Bustier scolded.
" I'll go after her!" Alya exclaimed.
" Hurry, before she gets akumatized!" Miss. Bustier replied.
Alya runs after Marinette. She can't find her anywhere. She calls out her name, but there's no answer. Meanwhile,Hawk Moth senses her negative emotions and plans to akumatize her.
" Fly away, my akuma, and evilize her!"
Marinette is outside, crying. Tikki tries to comfort her, but has no luck. Marinette is completely heartbroken and humiliated. The akuma gets closer and closer. Alya finally finds her, but it's too late. The akuma flies into her purse. She gasps as Hawk Moth's sign appears.
" No! This can't be!" Marinette exclaimed.
" But it can be. I'm finally gonna akumatize you,Marinette Dupain-Cheng!"
" No! Never! I'm not evil like you!" Marinette rejoindered.
" Yes, Marinette! Fight it!" Alya encouraged her.
" Come on, Marinette. They laughed at you. Made fun of you. Humiliated you. The boy you loved rejected you! What do you have to lose?!" Hawk Moth said, trying to convince her.
Marinette struggles to resist. Alya silently prays that she can fight it. She groans softly, slowly losing control as Hawk Moth continues to manipulate her.
" And all you have to do is bring me Ladybug and Cat Noir's miraculous!" he finished.
"I am… Ladybug." Marinette confesses as she falls under the akuma's influence.
" What?!" Alya and Hawk Moth exclaimed simultaneously.
" I'm Ladybug." Marinette repeats.
Hawk Moth grins evilly. " This is better than I imagined! You are now Lady Misfortune. You have the ability to stay transformed and use your power for as long as you want. Plus, they'll be enhanced! So what do you say… Lady Misfortune?"
"I say let's give them what they deserve!"
Purple darkness covers your body, and when it disappears, she looks completely different.
" Tikki, transform me!"
She transforms into Lady Misfortune. Her outfit is the exact opposite of her former one. It's black with red spots. Alya's eyes widened in horror.
" This is bad. This is really bad!"
Marinette laughs manically.
" Ha, ha,ha,ha, ha!"
