Dante sat back in his chair, one boot propped up casually on the edge of the table as he surveyed the bustling restaurant around him. The air was filled with the mouth-watering aromas of grilled meats and fresh herbs, and the chatter of patrons mingled with the occasional clatter of plates and cutlery. Paimon floated beside him, her tiny wings flitting excitedly as she devoured yet another helping of sweet, sticky honey roast.
"Paimon still can't believe how fast you took out those hilichurls! You're really strong, you know that?" Paimon chirped between bites, her cheeks puffed out with food. She had been thanking him nonstop ever since they arrived, her small body practically vibrating with gratitude.
Dante smirked, swirling the drink in his glass lazily. "Told ya before, it's no big deal Pai. Those things didn't put up much of a fight. But you can keep the compliments coming if it makes you feel better."
Paimon grinned sheepishly, swallowing her mouthful. "Well, it's true! Paimon was so scared, and then you showed up out of nowhere, all cool and heroic! You saved Paimon!"
Dante chuckled, leaning forward. "Yeah, yeah. You've thanked me about a hundred times by now. But listen—" he paused, his sharp blue eyes narrowing with curiosity. "What's the deal with this world anyway? I've been through a lot of places, but nothing quite like this. Floating islands, monsters that look like rejects from a kid's cartoon… You seem to know a lot. Care to fill me in?"
Paimon's eyes brightened at the prospect of explaining, always eager to show off her knowledge. "Oh! Paimon can definitely help with that! You're in Teyvat, the land of the Seven Nations. Each one is ruled by a different Archon, powerful beings who control elements and watch over their people!"
"Archons, huh?" Dante raised an eyebrow, taking a sip of his drink. "So these Archons, are they the ones behind all the weird stuff in the sky? Or is that just normal around here?"
Paimon shook her head enthusiastically. "Oh, the floating islands? Those are part of Celestia! It's where the gods live, though hardly anyone's ever been there. Most people just go about their lives down here in the seven regions of Teyvat."
Dante leaned back again, folding his arms. "So let me get this straight—there's gods, elemental powers, and monsters running around. Sounds like my kinda place. Which Archon runs this region?"
"We're in Mondstadt right now!" Paimon announced proudly. "It's ruled by Barbatos, the Anemo Archon! Though he's not always around. He kind of lets the people govern themselves most of the time. Mondstadt is the city of freedom, after all."
Dante tilted his head, intrigued. "Freedom, huh? Doesn't sound so bad. What about the other places? You said there were seven nations."
Paimon nodded eagerly. "Right! There's Liyue, ruled by Rex Lapis, the Geo Archon. It's more business-focused, lots of contracts and merchants. Then there's Inazuma, which is under the rule of the Raiden Shogun, the Electro Archon. She's… well, kind of strict. Likes to keep things under control."
Dante snorted. "So we've got a free city, a place run by businessmen, and another by a control freak. What else?"
"Well, there's Sumeru, home of the Dendro Archon, which focuses on wisdom and knowledge. Fontaine is all about justice and water-related things since it's ruled by the Hydro Archon. Then there's Natlan, home of the Pyro Archon, where warriors train and value strength. And finally, there's Snezhnaya, ruled by the Cryo Archon, who leads the Fatui. They're kind of… uh, not the nicest people."
Dante tapped his fingers on the table thoughtfully. "Sounds like there's a lot going on here. Anything I should watch out for?"
Paimon's face darkened for a moment. "Well… there's the Abyss Order. They're a dangerous group trying to destroy Teyvat for reasons no one's really sure about. Paimon has heard they're always up to something evil."
Dante gave a low whistle. "Abyss Order, huh? Looks like I might have a few more baddies to knock down while I'm here."
Paimon brightened again, her mood lifting quickly as she finished her food. "Paimon's sure they wouldn't stand a chance against you! You're super strong! Maybe you could even help Paimon with a few adventures while you're here!"
Dante chuckled, draining the last of his drink. "We'll see, Pai. I've gotta figure out how to get outta this place first. But until then, might as well enjoy the ride."
Paimon hovered closer to Dante, her eyes wide with excitement. "So, Dante, what about you? Paimon's been doing all the talking! You said you don't know how you got here. What kind of place did you come from before this?"
Dante leaned back in his chair, folding his arms and glancing out the window at the picturesque city of Mondstadt. The windmills gently turned in the breeze, and the distant hum of city life seemed peaceful, almost too peaceful compared to what he was used to.
"Where I'm from? Let's just say it's not as pretty as this place," Dante replied with a wry grin. "Demons, hellfire, and a lot of bad guys looking to cause trouble. I've been fighting off these things my whole life. My brother, Vergil was with me, but now somehow, I ended up here."
Paimon blinked, processing what she just heard. "Demons? Hellfire? That sounds… really scary! But you're just walking around like it's no big deal. You must be more powerful than I realize!"
Dante chuckled. "Yeah, I've had my fair share of run-ins with the bad shit. Doesn't faze me much anymore. Just another day on the job, really."
Paimon puffed out her chest proudly. "Well, if anyone can handle the challenges of Teyvat, it's gotta be you! Paimon bets even the Abyss Order would run away if they saw you coming!"
"Maybe," Dante said with a smirk, standing up from the table and stretching his arms. "But I'm more interested in seeing how much fun I can have around here before I figure out how to leave."
Paimon's face lit up. "Really? You'll stick around and help? That's awesome! Paimon knew you'd be a great friend!"
Dante smirked. "Hell yeah we're gonna take this world by storm Pai."
With that, Dante tossed a few coins onto the table for the meal, and together, he and Paimon stepped out into the bright, bustling streets of Mondstadt. The wind swept gently through the air, carrying with it the scent of flowers and the promise of adventure.
As they walked, Paimon was still chattering excitedly about all the sights they would see and the places they could explore together. Dante, on the other hand, was keeping an ear out for any sign of something interesting—anything that would get his blood pumping.
Just as Paimon was about to launch into another story about the history of Mondstadt, a commotion caught their attention. A group of adventurers rushed by, their faces pale with concern, and Dante's sharp ears picked up the tail end of their hurried conversation.
"…A large group of Hilichurls attacking a village just outside the city!"
"They said Amber's in trouble!"
Dante stopped in his tracks, a grin tugging at the corner of his lips. "Hilichurls, huh? Sounds like we've finally got ourselves some action." He turned to Paimon, who had heard the same thing and was now floating in place, looking worried.
"Paimon heard that too! Amber's the Outrider for the Knights of Favonius! If she's in trouble, that means it must be serious!"
Dante cracked his knuckles, his grin widening. "Serious is my middle name. You in, Pai?"
Paimon nodded vigorously. "Paimon's always ready! We have to help her! Let's go!"
Without wasting another moment, Dante and Paimon sprinted toward the city's gates. The urgency of the situation had stirred the citizens into a frenzy, with more and more adventurers and guards heading in the same direction, all talking about the nearby village being overrun by a massive Hilichurl horde.
As they left the safety of Mondstadt's walls behind, the peaceful countryside quickly gave way to signs of destruction. Smoke could be seen rising in the distance, and the sound of distant battle echoed across the hills.
Paimon floated anxiously beside Dante. "Hilichurls attacking in such large numbers… that's not normal! And if Amber's involved, things must be even worse than Paimon thought!"
Dante's hand instinctively moved to the hilt of his sword, his senses on high alert. "Don't worry, we'll handle it. Sounds like a party's just getting started."
They pressed on, the distant village coming into view. The small cluster of homes was surrounded by chaos. Hilichurls—more than Dante had ever seen in one place—were swarming the area, smashing through fences and knocking over carts. Flames flickered in the growing darkness, and the villagers were desperately trying to flee.
And in the middle of it all, a figure clad in red, wielding a bow with remarkable speed and precision—Amber. Her arrows whistled through the air, striking Hilichurls with pinpoint accuracy, but the numbers were overwhelming. Even with her skills, it was clear she was being pushed to her limits.
Paimon floated closer, her face filled with concern. "Look! Amber's in serious trouble! We've got to help her!"
Dante, however, wore his usual confident smirk. "Help? Nah, this looks like the perfect chance to have some..fun."
Without missing a beat, Dante reached into his coat and pulled out Faust, the eccentric hat with glowing red eyes and a hauntingly devilish appearance. With a flick of his wrist, he tossed it into the air, catching it perfectly as it landed atop his head, transforming him into his flashy, over-the-top persona. The moment it settled on his head, Dante snapped his fingers, and a smooth rhythm began to play from seemingly nowhere.
Paimon blinked in confusion, but as soon as the first notes of You Rock My World by Michael Jackson filled the air, she caught on. Her eyes lit up with excitement. "Ooh! Paimon likes this song!"
Dante began to moonwalk across the battlefield, his feet gliding effortlessly backward while he gave the approaching Hilichurls a playful wink. His moves were smooth, and his swagger was undeniable. With Faust on his head, his style was even flashier than usual, and he didn't seem even slightly fazed by the approaching horde of enemies.
"You rocked my world, you know you did!" Dante sang, his voice a surprisingly smooth match for the King of Pop's famous melody. As he sang, he casually lifted his hands, firing off a few shots from his pistols—Ebony and Ivory—without even breaking stride. Each shot hit its mark, dropping the Hilichurls in perfect rhythm with the song.
Paimon floated beside him, cheering him on. "Go, Dante! Show them who's boss! Woo-hoo!"
Dante winked at her, continuing his moonwalk as a group of Hilichurls charged at him from the side. Without even looking, he snapped his fingers again, sending Faust's magical energy forward, causing a few floating red orbs to materialize and strike down the Hilichurls mid-charge.
"And everything I own I give!" he sang again, spinning on his heel and striking a pose as more Hilichurls collapsed around him, their crude weapons clattering to the ground.
Amber, still firing arrows at the edges of the battle, paused for a moment. She had seen many things in her time as an Outrider, but this was something else. Dante's effortless movements, his complete control of the battlefield, and—was he dancing?
Her mouth hung open in astonishment as Dante smoothly side-stepped another group of Hilichurls, firing his guns from behind his back without even looking. Every shot hit its target, and Dante didn't even break a sweat.
"This guy… what is he?" Amber whispered to herself, her heart pounding as she watched in awe. She had never seen anyone handle monsters with such ease, let alone while singing and dancing like they were putting on a performance.
"The rarest love who'd think I'd find-"
Dante continued his show, twirling and spinning with precise, rhythmic moves that seemed more suited for a stage than a battlefield. He slid across the ground, moonwalking through a crowd of Hilichurls while throwing a few cheeky finger guns at Paimon, who cheered him on even louder.
"That's right, Dante! You show those Hilichurls how it's done!" Paimon cheered, pumping her tiny fists in the air. "They don't stand a chance against you!"
With one final flourish, Dante leaped into the air, twirling Faust above his head before slamming it down onto one particularly unlucky Hilichurl. The force of the blow sent a shockwave rippling across the battlefield, scattering the remaining enemies like leaves in the wind.
"Someone like youu to call mine!!"
As the last notes of You Rock My World echoed in the now-quiet village, Dante slid to a stop, striking a dramatic pose with one arm in the air and the other resting casually on his hip. The battlefield was littered with defeated Hilichurls, and not a single one remained standing.
Paimon let out a triumphant cheer, flying over to Dante and clapping her hands. "Woo-hoo! That was amazing! You totally rocked their world!"
Dante tipped his hat with a smirk, the energy of Faust fading as he tucked it away. "Well, what can I say? It's all about style, Pai."
Amber, who had been watching the entire spectacle unfold with wide eyes, couldn't help but wonder-
What the hell just happened??
