A/N: And finally, we have a new chapter of this story. I can't believe how long it's been since I last heard the song, "Party Tonight". Thankfully, we can still hear this special song play. And with C.J.'s involvement, it may be a bit different, albeit the same at the same time.
Close Enough: A Regular Show
Chapter 14: Mordecai and the Rigbys
One morning, Rigby entered the Coffee Shop and found Mordecai, carrying a big box.
"I can't believe we got in ahead of them. C.J. should be here any minute.", Mordecai said to himself.
"Dude! Check it out, man! They're here!", Rigby said, excited.
"What's here?", Mordecai puzzled.
"Our fake band t-Shirts that we ordered from that site last night.", Rigby replied.
"What?", Mordecai puzzled.
"Last night, I asked you if you wanted to be in a band and you said...", Rigby began.
A flashback of the previous night then played as it showed Mordecai drinking his soda near the computer.
"Yes, I wanna be in a band with you. Alright, but we gotta have a cool band name. What do you think of 'Cool Dudes'?", Mordecai suggested.
"'Face Punch.'", Rigby said.
"'Rad 'N' Subtract.'"
"'Helicopter Crash.'"
"What about 'Mustache Cash Stash'?", Mordecai asked.
"That's it! That's it!", Rigby said excitedly before then tapping on the keys on the keyboard hurriedly.
"Order the shirts! Order the shirts!", Mordecai shouted.
The flashback ends and it went back to the present.
"Oh yeah, T-Shirts.", Mordecai said, remembering what happened the night before.
"Check it out. Bam!", Rigby shouted.
He pulled out a t-shirt. But instead of it saying, "Mustache Cash Stash", it said, "Mordecai and the Rigbys".
"Mordecai and the Rigbys? What happened to Mustache Cash Stash?", Mordecai puzzled.
"I changed it. Awesome, right?", Rigby asked, throwing a t-shirt at Mordecai.
"But that's just our names. We aren't really going to wear these around, are we?", Mordecai asked as Rigby put on the shirt with a smirk, much to Mordecai's disapproval.
It was then that both Margaret and C.J., who entered the way Rigby did moments ago, turned up.
"Woah, rad shirts, guys.", C.J. said, catching Mordecai by surprise.
"Yeah, what are those for?", Margaret asked.
"They're for our band.", Rigby replied.
"You guys are in a band? I didn't know that.", C.J. responded.
"'Mordecai and the Rigbys'? That's so cool.", Margaret added.
"No, no, no, we're not in a band, heh...", Mordecai explained hurriedly.
"So, what, it's some sort of fake band?", Margaret asked skeptically.
"No, it's a real band, but just... not a big deal, you know?", Mordecai fibbed reflexively.
Margaret gasped as she got an idea.
"Your band should play the open mic tomorrow night.", Margaret suggested, handing Mordecai and Rigby a flyer.
"Everybody knows about it. Even Benson.", C.J. added.
"Really?", Mordecai asked in surprise.
"Yeah, dude.", C.J. responded.
"Yeah, for sure, uh... totally.", Mordecai agreed.
"Awesome."
"We can't wait to see you guys play. Guess we'll see you then.", C.J. spoke before she and Margaret left.
"Yeah... see you then... then.", Mordecai said before groaning as he faceplanted on the table.
"What was that, man?", Rigby asked.
"I don't know! I just didn't want her to think we had a stupid fake band!", Mordecai reacted.
"But now we gotta play that open mic tomorrow!", Rigby shouted.
To make matters seemingly worse, C.J. cleared her throat, making Mordecai blanch out in shock before turning to her.
"Dude. Seriously.", C.J. said, disappointingly.
Mordecai groaned once more as he face planted the table yet again.
Then, an idea occurred to her.
"Okay, look. I was gonna tell you guys that I have an idea for a song you could play at mic night, but now, I think this idea could be more helpful.", C.J. said.
"Huh?", Mordecai puzzled, sitting up in surprise.
"Yeah. Lots of bands start out fake, anyway. But then, they become real bands through a very special first song. So maybe, this song idea I have could be your first special song ever. We just need to help you get it all figured out by tomorrow night.", C.J. said.
"One song?", Mordecai and Rigby puzzled in unison.
"One song.", C.J. replied.
Inside the garage, Mordecai, Rigby, and C.J. were wielding guitars as the former two turned on their amps.
"You guys ready?", C.J. asked.
"Ready.", Mordecai responded.
"Shreddy.", Rigby added.
"One, two, three, four!", Mordecai began.
C.J. had to stop them when they fumbled aimlessly at the strings, producing distorted noise.
"OK, stop, stop. You guys need help. Lucky for you guys, this is where I come in.", C.J. assured, getting out her own guitar.
Just then, Pops entered.
"Oh, my! Is that a two-man ensemble?", Pops asked.
"Yep. And I'm gonna teach 'em.", C.J. replied.
"Jolly good show! At this rate, they'll be ready for their open mic in no time!", Pops said eagerly, bringing down the records for the gramaphone. "Of course, the records on the talking machine might even work just as well."
"Sorry, Pops. Maybe next time, okay?", C.J. asked.
"Oh, very well. Best of luck on Open Mic Night, anyway.", Pops responded as he started leaving.
"Agh, Pops knows about the open mic night?", Mordecai asked in surprise.
"Everyone knows about it, remember? They're all gonna be here.", C.J. explained.
"Augh!", Mordecai and Rigby groaned.
"That's right...!", Mordecai realized.
"Anyway, now, the first step is to...", C.J. began before Rigby interrupted, speaking to Mordecai.
"Wait. If we're gonna learn this in time, then you gotta take this seriously.", Rigby said.
"What?", Mordecai puzzled.
"Put on the shirt.", Rigby responded.
"Fine.", Mordecai said, putting on his own Mordecai and the Rigbys t-shirt.
"Hold up.", C.J. said, getting a t-shirt as well. "Okay."
"You, too, C.J.?", Mordecai asked, surprised.
"Just figured I'd show some support.", C.J. explained, making him slack-jaw surprised as she put it on.
"How do I look?", C.J. asked.
"Amazing...!", Mordecai said, stunned.
"Thanks, Mordecai. Maybe I can help Margaret hand these out for you guys. Get everyone pumped for the closing act.", C.J. responded.
"Closing act?", Mordecai and Rigby asked in surprise.
"Yeah, save the best for last. You know? That'll give you guys enough time to get your heads in the game at the open mic night. You know, if they aren't.", C.J. replied.
"Thanks, C.J. So, what's the first step again?", Mordecai asked.
"Okay. The 1st step is to tune the guitars and be sure that it's played right. Like so.", C.J. explained, starting to tune her guitar.
"There we go. And once they're tuned, you guys should be able to feel out the notes on your guitar and figure out how you wanna play 'em.", C.J. added.
"Like this?", Mordecai asked, carefully playing the notes.
"Yeah. Just like that.", C.J. grinned.
"Cool...", Rigby said.
"And next, we'll go over the order in which to play the notes and the timing."
Then, she looked as though, she realized something.
"Oh. But first, I gotta use it. You guys can at least try the records until I get back for now.", C.J. suggested, leaving for the restroom.
"Well? Should we?", Rigby asked.
"Well, it would be a good idea to at least give it a try for Pops.", Mordecai responded.
First, Rigby wound up the gramaphone and placed the needle on it before a scratchy recording was heard.
"So, you want to become a musician? Bravo! Now, what is the first thing all good musicians require?", Sir Geoffrey asked.
"Talent?", Mordecai asked.
"Yes! Good personal hygiene is the key to becoming a successful gentleman musician!", the recording spoke, much to Rigby's puzzlement and Mordecai's annoyance.
"Augh, this is gonna take like ten years!", Mordecai groaned.
"Yeah, and there's still two more after this one!", Rigby said, holding up the remaining two records.
"There's gotta be a faster way.", Mordecai said.
"...all washed up? Good! Now just locate your...", the recording said.
"All three at once?", Rigby suggested.
Later, Mordecai and Rigby set up three records as well as 2 more gramaphones. Sir Geoffrey talked over himself as they strummed badly at their guitars once again.
"...one, two, three... A minor seventh... Harmonic can be tapped...", Sir geoffrey's voice spoke, all over the place.
"Dude, this isn't working! I can't understand anything!", Rigby panicked.
"Dude, we gotta keep going. Do you wanna look like an idiot at the open mic?", Mordecai urged as he shoved Rigby, who backed into an amp, knocking an opened soda can onto the floor.
As a result, the soda flowed over to the power strip on the floor, causing a small electrical fire and plenty of sparks. The power strip explodes, and a bolt of yellow energy flows up through the cables into the gramaphone needles just as C.J. came back.
"Hey, guys. I'm ba-", C.J. began before noticing what's going on. "What did you guys do?!"
"I don't know!', Mordecai shouted.
The gramaphones shot yellow power through the room and onto the ceiling as Mordecai and Rigby screamed. Suddenly, the room went black.
"What was that?", Mordecai asked.
Then, the light re-appeared and the room glowed yellow, buzzing.
"Dude, what's happening?!", C.J. shouted.
"I don't know!", Rigby exclaimed.
The gramaphones then levitated into the air, focused their power into a central ball, spun around, and then shot a focused beam onto the floor. It was then that stylized silhouettes of Mordecai and Rigby appeared. The new Mordecai's arm, clad in red, reached out, and present Mordecai and Rigby's guitars floated away towards the new duo.
"Whoa!", present Mordecai and Rigby said in surprise.
The future Mordecai and Rigby launched into superb guitar solos. While Future Mordecai had a goatee and shades, and was dressed somewhat like Michael Jackson, future Rigby had shaved most of his tail and was wearing a flannel shirt and shades, skin-tight black pants, brown boots, and had a pencil thin mustache.
"Whoooaaa...", Mordecai, Rigby, and C.J. said in surprise.
"Dude, who are you guys?", Mordecai asked.
"We're Mordecai and Rigby. Who the blazes are you?", Future Mordecai asked in a British accent.
"Uhh...", Mordecai began nervously.
"Hah! Just kiddin'. We know who you are. Coz we're you in ten years!", Future Mordecai assured.
"Wait, what? Hold on. You're Mordecai and Rigby from the future?", C.J. asked.
"You don't know it yet, but this is the moment where we teach your friends how to rock!", Future Rigby added, making a metal sign with right hand.
"Dude, this is perfect!", Mordecai exclaimed.
"Wait a minute. Something isn't right here.", C.J. said.
"Yeah, she's right. We suck, and if you're us, doesn't that mean you suck too?", Rigby asked.
"Didn't you just hear us play?", Future Mordecai asked.
"Yeah, we're super-successful musicians in the future.", Future Rigby added.
"Yeah, look at us, dude! We're wearing sunglasses!", Mordecai said.
"Our future's so bright, we gotta wear shades.", Future Mordecai responded.
"Awesome! Oh, hey, in the future, do we get that thing we always wanted?", Rigby asked.
"Oh, we got it.", Future Rigby responded before he pulled up his shirt to reveal a biting shark tattoo on his armpit, which bites whenever he moved his arm.
"Awesome!", Rigby beamed.
"Oh, hey, in the future, do I get to go out with C.J.?", Mordecai asked.
"What?", C.J. asked, blushing in surprise, making Mordecai gasp in realization.
"Huh! I wouldn't wanna ruin the surprise.", Future Mordecai said suggestively.
"Aww.", Mordecai groaned as C.J. tended to him.
"Look. We promise we'll get you ready for tomorrow night's gig if you're willing to put in the work.", Future Mordecai assured.
"Yeah, whatever it takes.", Mordecai added.
"We said the same thing ten years ago.", Future Rigby added.
"Awesome!", the two shouted in unison.
"Guys? I don't know if I should buy into this whole time travel business. Besides, what about our plan?", C.J. asked.
"Don't worry, C.J. We're still gonna do your song.", Mordecai assured.
"Yeah, and we'll even get better fast at the same time.", Rigby added.
C.J. doesn't exactly like this, but the two seemed into it now more than ever.
"Hey. Just be sure you're ready to play tomorrow night, okay?", C.J. asked.
"Hm. Hm. We will.", Mordecai nodded, earning her grin.
"Well, then, let's rock!", Future Mordecai shouted.
A montage then played. First, Future Mordecai and Rigby were seen teaching their present selves all about rock moves and stances. Unfortunately, they didn't teach them at any time how to actually play an instrument. All they did was have them practice on brooms and try on new clothes, struggling to walk in their skin-tight pants. All the while, C.J. helped Margaret and Eileen set up for Open Mic Night at the Coffee Shop, albeit wearily when thinking about Mordecai and Rigby. The montage ended with Future Mordecai and Rigby sitting on the amps, applauding their old selves.
"That's it. You're ready!", Future Mordecai said.
"What?", the two present friends asked in unified shock.
"But we never learned how to play!", Mordecai exclaimed.
"We haven't even picked up a guitar.", Rigby added.
"Come on, we got the look, we've got the moves down, I know the lyrics backwards and forwards. Just teach us how to play!", Mordecai urged.
"Woah, woah, woah! Don't worry. You know enough. You're gonna be fine. Besides, it's too late to teach you anything else. Gig's in 20 minutes.", Future Mordecai responded.
This worried the blue jay greatly on his part.
"We're dead."
Meanwhile, an excited crowd was going inside the coffee shop. In it, Angel was playing a solo piece to wild acclaim. C.J., Benson, Skips, Mona, Mela, Josh, Emily, Candice, and Pops entered to take their seats.
Angel: You're my sweet little baby
and I think I might be crazy for you...
"I can't believe they're gonna play tonight. Those two slackers have never even picked up an instrument. This is gonna be a trainwreck.", Benson doubted.
"Wanna bet?", C.J. asked.
"Unless that's a rhetorical question, no.", Benson responded.
"Woo, I love trains!", Pops shouted eagerly.
"You know, that reminds me. I didn't know you were into this, C.J.", Benson admitted.
"Well, I just like to see them do something fun.", C.J. responded.
Angel: ...my sweet little baby
and I think I might be crazy for you
The song ended, earning the crowd's wild applause while Mordecai and Rigby watched from behind a curtain.
"Dang!", Rigby spoke in awe.
"Yeah.", Mordecai agreed.
He then walked backstage, holding his stomach and groaning in worry as Rigby picked up a box.
"Should I help hand out the last of the t-shirts?", Rigby asked.
"No, dude. You're part of the band. Besides, C.J. said she's gonna help Margaret hand out T-shirts.", Mordecai replied, grabbing the box from Rigby.
Just then, both Margaret and C.J. entered through the curtain.
"Hey.", C.J. said.
"Oh, C.J., Margaret.", Mordecai said.
"Oh, wow! You guys look like rock stars. Hey, can I have one of those?", Margaret asked.
"Uh, yeah...", Mordecai said, chuckling nervously. "Here's a small."
Margaret struggled to pull on the shirt, eventually managing to get the shirt on.
"How do I look?", Margaret asked.
"You look great, Margaret. Right, Mordecai?", C.J. asked.
"Uh, yeah.", Mordecai responded.
"Well, break a leg, guys. I can't wait.", Margaret said before leaving with the box.
"Thanks for the box, guys.", C.J. said, leaving.
Then, the announcer shouted from the curtain.
"And finally, give it up for Mordecai and the Rigbys! Yeah, come on!", the announcer shouted just as the Future Mordecai and Rigby entered the dressing room.
"Sorry we're late.", Future Mordecai said.
"Where've you guys been?", Mordecai asked.
"We had to get you these.", Future Mordecai said before holding up glowing guitar picks with a lightning motif.
"Picks?! But we still don't even know how to play!", Mordecai exclaimed.
"Just go out there, you'll be great. Just like we were ten years ago.", Future Mordecai said.
"But..."
Mordecai tried to protest but his and Rigby's future selves ushered them through the curtain.
"Crowd's waitin'! Go on!", Future Mordecai urged.
From there, Mordecai and Rigby appeared next to the stage. The crowd, dressed in the t-shirts, cheered for them. They took to the stage under the 'OPEN MIC NIGHT' banner before they put on their guitars and plugged them into the amps as Mordecai took the mic.
"Uhh...", Mordecai began.
From there, Muscle Man was seen at the back of the crowd, standing on his chair and waving his shirt above his head.
"Come on, ladies, play us a tasty lick!", Muscle Man shouted.
"All right, Mitch. Take it easy. It hasn't even started yet.", C.J. said.
Mordecai and Rigby looked at each other helplessly. Future Rigby motioned to Rigby to strum his guitar. Rigby did so and a perfect chord came out. Mordecai did the same, much to their surprise. Getting into the groove of it, they both launched into brilliant lead guitar parts as C.J. looked on excitedly.
"Holy crap!", Benson exclaimed.
"Told ya.", C.J. smirked.
Mordecai started to sing the song, wowing the crowd, especially C.J., as Mordecai was finishing the 1st verse.
Mordecai: Your eyes starin' into my eyes
who am I but a guy with two eyes on the prize
and the prize in my eyes is ten times
the surprise in your eyes as I kiss you goodnight.
The smile is the fire that lights my soul
gonna remember it until I grow old
'cause life's too short, we've gotta do things right
so baby let's just party toni-ight.
Baby, let's just party toni-ight.
"WOHOOO! Go, Mordecai and Rigby!", C.J. cheered as more solos followed.
But, unfortunately, Mordecai dropped his pick. C.J. was worried, noticing this, too. Struggling to lift it up, he heard his guitar part still playing, and his singing part still going, even though he's away from the mic. Even that had C.J. puzzled, too. His guitar, he sees, is plugged into the amp, but the amp wasn't plugged into anything.
"Rigby!", Mordecai shouted to Rigby.
But he was too busy rocking out. The crowd cheered as Mordecai waved his arms to stop them. Well, at least most of them did. Only C.J. saw Mordecai trying to speak to Rigby. Seeing this was enough to give her a hunch.
"No! Augh!", Mordecai groaned.
"Wait a minute. Something's wrong.", C.J. said in worry, getting off her seat and going up to the stage.
At the same time, Mordecai saw a CD player at the side of the stage. That allowed C.J., when she got close enough, to notice what Mordecai spotted, which was Future Mordecai and Rigby waving and playing air-guitar. Angry, C.J. turned gray and went over to the CD player, same as Mordecai, and turned off the CD with C.J. confiscating it. As a result, the crowd fell silent except for a few calls of "What?".
"Not cool, dude.", C.J. glared to Future Mordecai.
"Wait a minute. What are you doing?", Future Mordecai asked.
"I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise.", C.J. retorted.
Of course, Rigby was still playing the unplugged electric guitar, albeit badly.
"Uh-huh! Yeah! Yeah, baby!", Rigby spoke.
"You can stop now.", Mordecai said.
"Everyone, it appears we have a couple of people besmirching the open mic night's good name by setting these two up for lip-syncing! And the perpetrators are...!", C.J. began before turning to Eileen, whisperingly.
"Could you throw a spotlight on these two by the stage door, please, Eileen?", C.J. asked.
"You got it.", Eileen whispered in reply.
"These two!", C.J. shouted, pointing at the two nearby.
The spotlight shone on Future Mordecai and Future Rigby, making them gasp.
"We're dead.", Future Mordecai said before, as expected, the crowd booed and heckled them.
Of course, despite all this, the two future selves rushed over to them.
"Why'd you stop? It was going great.", Future Mordecai said in worry.
"You tricked us into lip-synching!", Mordecai snapped.
"And if there's one thing I hate, it's people who lie. And right now? You're one of those people, future or not. So again, not cool.", C.J. added.
"Look. We've become rich and famous because of lip-synching. Don't you wanna be a part of that?", Future Mordecai asked.
"No, that's lame!", Mordecai snapped angrily before turning to the crowd.
"We thought we could just order some t-shirts and pass ourselves off as a band. But it turns out, playing music's really hard to do. We just got caught up in the dream, man. And just for a little while, it was real. But that's over. And lip-syncing's not cool."
As he said those words, the crowd gave surprised looks, especially Rigby.
Then, he turned back to his future self.
"You may be me, but that's not the me I wanna be.", Mordecai snapped angrily.
"Me neither!", Rigby added.
"If we're gonna even play this song again, it's gonna be on our terms. And in a very special way we... I should've went for in the first place.", Mordecai added, turning to C.J. making her grin as her skin turned from gray to white again.
"So, enjoy this one-time gig if you can. Because when it's over, so is Mordecai and the Rigbys.", Mordecai glared before he and Rigby both took off their t-shirts.
With that, Future Mordecai and Future Rigby began to fade from view.
"Whoa, whoa!", the future selves panicked.
"OK, dude. Think about what you're doing.", Future Mordecai said worriedly.
"Yeah, stop, man!", Future Rigby added.
"If you break up the band, what are we gonna do in the future?", Future Mordecai asked.
"Why don't you two reflect on that when you get back to your own universe?", C.J. asked with a glare.
"What?", the two future selves asked.
"Multiverse theory over time travel, boyee.", C.J. said before turning to Mordecai. "Let it rip, Mordecai."
Mordecai scoffed with a nod before he started to rip his t-shirt.
"Nooo!"
As soon as the t-shirt was ripped in two, Future Mordecai and Future Rigby seemingly exploded in a ball of white light, stunning the crowd. After a moment of shocked silence, Benson rose to his feet and clapped. Slowly, the rest of the crowd joined in.
"Yeah-heah! Alright!", Benson cheered before the rest of the crowd cheered more.
"I don't know why you thought this open mic would be embarrassing. This is awesome!", Rigby shouted.
"Well, almost. Because I think I know a way I can make it up to you.", Mordecai said.
"How do you figure?", C.J. asked.
"Well, you're already up on-stage.", Mordecai replied.
"Huh. I guess I am.", C.J. grinned.
Then, she plugged in the amp to be sure.
"Okay. Now, everything's ready. For real, this time.", C.J. grinned.
"Good. Now, let's take it from the top. And this time, with room for a volunteer.", Mordecai said.
"5, 6, 7, 8!", Mordecai and Rigby said in unison.
Much like before, Rigby strummed his guitar and a perfect chord came out. Mordecai did the same as well, much to their surprise, considering that last time, they were lip-syncing. Getting into the groove of it, they both launched into brilliant lead guitar parts once again as C.J. looked on proudly.
"I still can't believe they're actually doing it.", Benson said.
"These guys aren't bad.", Skips grinned.
"I know.", Mona agreed.
"They just sound so amazing...!", Mela concurred.
With that, Mordecai sang, once again amazing the crowd.
Mordecai: Your eyes staring into my eyes,
Who am I but a guy with two eyes on the prize,
And the prize in my eyes is 10 times
The surprise in your eyes as I kiss you goodnight.
Your smile is the fire that rocks my soul
Gonna remember it until I grow old,
'Cause life is too short we gotta do things right,
So baby let's just party toni-ight.
"Whoo! Whoo!", Muscle Man shouted, spinning his shirt as Mordecai neared the end of the first verse.
Baby let's just party toni-ight.
As the solo progressed, the trio started dancing. This time, Mordecai hadn't dropped his pick and they continued playing normally. Although, during the solo, Margaret could tell how happy Mordecai is with C.J. and gave a nigh-fond smile of her own.
"You really are happy with her, aren't you, Mordecai?", Margaret grinned.
Once the solo was over, it was C.J.'s turn to sing before both her and Mordecai sang together.
C.J.: We've come out on top, we're in front of the line,
We're here to rock out and have a good time,
'Cause the past is the past and the future is bright,
So baby let's just party toni-ight.
Baby let's just party toni-ight.
Mordecai & C.J.: Your eyes staring into my eyes,
Who am I but a guy/gal with two eyes on the prize,
And the prize in my eyes is 10 times
The surprise in your eyes as I kiss you goodnight.
Your smile is the fire that rocks my soul
Gonna remember it until I grow old,
'Cause life is too short we gotta do things right,
So baby let's just party toni-ight.
Baby let's just party toni-ight.
Baby let's just party toni-ight.
As the song ended, the crowd cheered even louder, especially when Mordecai and C.J. kissed each other before they even realized and gave surprised looks when they did, leaving each other quite bashful (with Rigby and the park crew's own surprise). After a moment, C.J. turned to the crowd and shouted.
"Whoo! Give it up for Mordecai and the Rigby's, everyone!", C.J. shouted.
"Now, that was fun.", Mordecai grinned.
"Yeah... So much fun...", C.J. agreed, blushing towards Mordecai, who, in turn, blushed to her.
Margaret waved through the crowd. Mordecai! C.J.!", Margaret shouted.
"Margaret!", Mordecai and C.J. said in unison before they, too, fought through the crowd and rushed over.
"That was pretty cool, what you said up there. And also that song.", Margaret grinned.
"Thanks, Margaret.", Mordecai thanked.
"Oh, hey. You know, you two seem really happy together. So, that reminds me. Have you met my new boyfriend, Angel?", Margaret asked, gesturing to him from earlier as everyone was getting seated almost a half hour ago.
"Wait. Your new boyfriend?", C.J. puzzled.
"What about Slasher?", Mordecai asked.
"We broke up. Don't want to get too into it, though. Long story.", Margaret responded.
"Oh. Yeah. Sorry to hear that. You doing okay?", Mordecai apologized.
"Well, I am now.", Margaret responded.
"Hope you two have fun.", C.J. grinned.
"Thanks, C.J.", Margaret thanked.
"C'mon, baby. We don't wanna be late for our dinner reserva-ations.", Angel sang near the end.
"Oh, yeah. See you, guys! Oh, Angel, you have such a great voice.", Margaret said.
With that, Mordecai and Rigby stood alone with C.J.
"So, you two are finally boyfriend and girlfriend, huh?", Rigby asked teasingly to Mordecai and C.J.
A/N: And there we have it, folks! We finally get to see the full song play out the way it was meant to and more! And for the record, I added the Multiverse Theory bit because of something I remembered while watching "Dragon Ball Super" in the Future Trunks saga. And as for why Future Mordecai and Future Rigby disappeared anyway? Well, I don't want to get into details right away, but what if I said that somehow, this Future Mordecai and Future Rigby was forced to return to their universe when Mordecai tore off the t-shirt. I know the explanation is half-baked, but I hope I can figure something out to help it make more sense soon. But either way, we also got something special: Mordecai and C.J. are officially boyfriend and girlfriend. Seems like their future together is coming up bright for them. But the question is, would they even need to wear shades?
