In the camp…

The human tossed and turned as sweat poured from his pale skin.

Dreams, awful dreams of before filled his brain and pierced his skull like spears. Oh, the terror that stole his sleep, oh, the villains' images that tormented his rest. Truly the beasts in his head have shown no mercy to him. Serpentine pitied the boy and tried to dampen once more the cloth on his head from the fever that came from his wounds. The former prince feared that it may be the fever that would do in the poor boy and not the injuries he got from battle. He did not know if his efforts would be enough to save him from death.

It also made him wonder why someone almost the same age as him would be in such a bloody combat situation. He seemed too frail, too bruise-able, too young to be fighting against such violent people or creatures of this world. Maybe he didn't have a choice, maybe he wanted to protect himself… maybe he wanted to make a relative proud, even when they called them weak and pathetic. Serpentine could understand that. It was impossible to earn the respect and pride of the one person you loved the most, to live up to their extremely high expectations. Sometimes, no matter how much they try or how much they want to be seen, they could never have it, they would only see them with great disappointment, a burden to bear.

Serpentine curled up into himself at the very unpleasant thought and then noticed how his latest guest (His only guest) was squirming a bit. He shook off the past and then began to try to help the poor human under the fur-made blankets. The human was growing paler and more flushed by the moment and nothing seemed to be helping him.

"You don't look too good there, Friend. It looks like something troubling you." Serpentine whispered while bringing water to the boy.

The human with blond hair moaned while he continued to twist and turn.

In the Dream…

"By the power of Greyskull…"

Adam then opened his eyes to darkness!

"I have the power!"

The prince of Eternia looked around the endless void, trying to find his way out. He tried to call out, but nothing came out of his mouth; his voice was stifled by some unseen force.

Where was he?

"Foolish, He-Man! The power of Greyskull shall be mine!"

Skeletor?

"The power will never be yours so long as I draw breath."

That was him, but he wasn't talking!

"Then I will have to rectify that."

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

BANG!

ZAP!

SLICE!

SHING! SHING! SHING!

Adam could feel himself being harmed, cuts and burns beginning to appear on his body! Adam tried to shield himself from the unseen attacks, but it was to no avail!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

BANG!

ZAP!

SLICE!

SHING! SHING! SHING!

"Surrender!"

"NEVER!"

BANG!

ZAP!

SLICE!

BANG!

ZAP!

SLICE!

SHING! SHING! SHING!

BOOM!

Adam howled in pain as he felt like he was falling! The last thing he heard was laughter, screams, and a bright light!

Adam woke up with a start!

"Woah, woah, easy. Don't try to sit up, you might reopen your wounds." Serpentine warned the boy, trying to comprehend what was happening, "Here, have some water, it will help you."

The blond boy took it gratefully while his awareness slowly returned. He then noticed the albino boy in a big, fluffy, furred coat smiling at him, his crimson eyes like rubies as they stared at him. He never met someone like him before.

"Thanks… Who are you?" Adam asked in a croaky voice, his strength leaving him.

"Me? I'm… Pentine. S. pentine. I'm a hermit who found you floating by the river. You were lucky I was there at the time, or you might have been food for the fish." He answered.

"Thank you." He breathed with a smile on his face.

"Now, can you tell me who you are?" He wondered while tilting his head.

"My name is… Adam." Adam muttered while lying back down.

"Well, Adam… you are lucky to be alive."
