David Addison strode back to City of Angels after being out of the office 21/2 hours for lunch. As he stepped out of the elevator and walked towards the Detective Agency he currently headed, he thought to himself with a smile "what a great gig I have". I've been gone from the office for over 2 hours, doing nothing but sitting on a bench, drinking chocolate milk, which by the way, is the best refreshment on the planet, eating a donut, watching women go by and the best part is I have no one to answer to: "Where have you been?"..."Why are you late?". Yessiree Bob, life is sweet. To add to his delight was the fact that the corporation that owned the agency couldn't care less if he solved cases or even had cases…not to mention, giving him two Porches to be used for company cars…like I said "Sweet".
When he entered the office he told his quirky receptionist, Agnes DiPesto, that he wasn't to be disturbed unless it was urgent. "Sure thing Mr. Addison", "I'll only bother you if I have to". David continued into his own office, closed his door and sat in his chair, tilted it back and put his feet on the desk. As he got comfortable he started thinking about his evening plans. After watching women go by for hours and not being able to partake in any fun with any of them, he definitely wanted to enjoy one tonight.
Who should I call, he thought…Heather, nah, too needy…Barbara, nah, too chatty…and then Carol popped into his mind. Lovely Carol who goes anywhere he wants to go and, most importantly, does anything he wants to do..ANYTHING. Yes, Consensual Carol is the winner tonight. I will call her later and set up a date.
Since there was absolutely no work to do he was starting to get bored and decided to play a little office basketball. He checked his watch and saw it was 3:30, enough time to play some hoops and still make his plans for tonight. He positioned his wastepaper basket on the top of the door jam, got his basketball and began his play by play narrative. Dribbling the ball on his desk he took the shot and made it.
As he was proclaiming victory and praising himself his office door suddenly opened and in walked the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. Maddie Hayes was about to turn his world upside down, inside out, on its ear.
"Hello"...
"Hello….Wow"..
It was at that moment that all thoughts of other women left his mind because in that instant David Addison Jr. fell in love…FOREVER.
