A/N: Sorry for the delay, but the next chapter is here. :) Now, keep in mind that while this what-if crossover may appear unoriginal at first, over the 8 seasons, it'll get more and more original as it goes along. And now, the next chapter of the story. :)
Close Enough: A Regular Show
"The Power"
It all started with Rigby and Candice on top of a sort of file cabinet as a wrestling match was playing on TV as Emily and Josh sat on the bed nearby.
"Alright, Beef Burrito. I'm gonna give you one more chance to take back what you said about Candice's mom!", Rigby warned before the beef burrito doll only laid silently on the floor.
"He's not taking it back. Let's smash him!", Candice shouted before Rigby grunted in agreement in a slight melody, patted his elbow, and jumped onto a trampoline, body-slamming the doll before Candice jumped onto the trampoline and elbowed it multiple times and body slamming it once more.
"Rigby, look out!", Candice spoke as she picked up the doll and moved its arm, making it punch Rigby in the face, knocking him to the bed.
Behind him, Mordecai called to him.
"Tag up! Tag up!", Mordecai urged.
Pretending to be weakened, Rigby then walked over to Mordecai and high-fived him. As Rigby drank a soda, Mordecai pulled the Beef Burrito doll away before Rigby slammed the soda can onto the ground and let out a ferocious cry just as Mordecai set the doll up next to a bed as Candice went next to it before the blue jay walked away onto the shelves.
"What?", Rigby puzzled only for the doll to seemingly speak in Candice's voice.
"I'm ready for whatever hurt you've got coming for me, Mr. R.", Candice imitated in a gruff voice.
"Oh, you want us to put the hurt on you? I think he wants me to put the hurt on him.", Rigby spoke as Mordecai grabbed Rigby.
"I think he wants you to put the hurt on him.", Mordecai responded.
"You think he wants me to put the hurt on him?!", Rigby asked.
"Yes, I do!", Mordecai responded before he and Rigby screamed with the former chucking Rigby down onto the trampoline, launching him into the wall, prompting Candice to gasp and take cover.
The resulting impact then left a large hole in the wall and Rigby ended up in a trash can.
"Oooh! That's probably gonna hurt in the morning.", Josh winced.
"Uhhh... Uuuuhhhhyyyy... Yea-uh! Did you see how awesome it was when I hit the trampoline?", Rigby asked as he stood up and removed the trash can.
"Hahahaha! Yeah, I did. But it wasn't as awesome as when you punched that hole in the wall.", Mordecai responded before he and Rigby began laughing, but suddenly stopped as the realization hit them, along with Josh and Emily.
"Oh, no! Oh, no, you didn't!", Emily exclaimed before she, Josh, Candice, Mordecai, and Rigby turned around and noticed the hole before screamed in horror from the realization.
Rigby then quickly opened the door and checked to see if anyone was in the hallway before shutting the door.
"I can't believe we listened to you! I knew we should've gone out to do some work, but no, 'Let's wrestle this stupid doll, it'll be fun!'.", Mordecai spoke.
"But we were supposed to be on a 30-minute break as per union law.", Josh responded.
"And it WAS fun!", Rigby added.
"Well, yeah. But now there's a big hole in the wall! Dude, half of us are 23 years old, Josh and Emily are parents, and Candice may only be 5 years old, but we shouldn't be busting holes in walls. We're gonna get fired for this!",
"You mean, you're gonna get fired for this.", Rigby responded.
"What?", Mordecai asked in disbelief.
"You're the one who threw me too hard!", Rigby blamed.
"You're the one who wanted to wrestle!", Mordecai blamed back.
"Guys, stop! The blame game isn't gonna help anyone. We just need to figure out how to fix this.", Emily suggested.
"Yeah, but how in the heck are we gonna fix this hole?", Rigby asked.
"I don't know man. I mean, we can't fix it, and we definitely can't pay for it, 'cause we don't have any money! Unless you have some money.", Mordecai spoke.
"No. Besides, I don't even know how much it costs to fix a hole like this. Probably a ton.", Rigby responded.
"And we just started working 5 days ago.", Josh responded.
"Exactly. Which leaves us with only one possible solution: We convince Benson to give us raises so we can afford to pay someone else to fix it.", Mordecai suggested.
"Dude...you are a GENIUS! Of course, raises!", Rigby agreed.
"Okay, dude, here's-", Mordecai began before Rigby interrupted.
"Let me stop you there, because I already know what you're going to say...HAAAAMBONING.", Rigby suggested.
"What?", Mordecai puzzled.
"'Hamboning'?", Emily puzzled.
"Yeah, dude, Hamboning! We just go up to Benson and we'll be all like, 'We both want raises!'", Rigby spoke before he repeatedly tapped all over himself while walking toward Mordecai and then started tapping him.
"No, man! Stop it! We just need to ask him for a raise and just explain all the-", Mordecai began.
"No, no, NO, that's not gonna work! What are you, 65? 'Excuse me, sir, can I have a raise?' COME ON! I'm telling you, dude. HAAAMBONIIIING.", Rigby grinned.
"Noooooo.", Mordecai rebuffed.
"Hamboning will save your life someday. It'll be all like, 'What? You're trying to mug me?'", Rigby assured before he started hamboning again only to be stopped by Emily this time.
"Heck, no! We're not doing that and that's that! Got it?", Emily asked.
"Fine...", Rigby agreed begrudgingly before he gasped and ran over to his pile of dirty clothes.
"I know what to do!", Rigby spoke before getting out a red keyboard.
"Are you ready for raises? Boop-bweeep-boo-boo-boo-boo-boo-boo-boooo!", Rigby spoke as he introduced it.
"Woah-ho-ho-ho, how did you get that?", Mordecai asked.
"Yeah, it looks so cool!", Candice agreed eagerly.
"I have my methods.", Rigby responded before it then rippled over with a wave to show a flashback of a wizard placing the same red keyboard on a bench before heading toward a bush and taking a pee break on it. Rigby then stole the keyboard and ran off before it went back to Rigby and Mordecai, the former of which was laughing to himself.
"Okay. I get that it sounds great, and all, but how's that gonna help us, never mind you guys, get raises?", Emily asked.
"Aw, come on, man! Look! Just come check it out.", Rigby suggested as he set the keyboard on the ground before playing said keyboard, making cool noises.
"Woaaaaah-ho-ho-ho-ho! This is the answer to ALL our problems.", Mordecai spoke in awe.
"Yeah. Those tones are sick as heck. And I mean it in a good way, because they sound awesome.", Josh agreed.
"Well, I don't exactly see how it's gonna help, but it does sound catchy.", Emily grinned.
"Have you named it yet?", Candice asked.
"Actually, I thought Mordecai here could do the honors.", Rigby responded.
"Really?", Mordecai asked.
"Mmhmm.", Rigby nodded.
"Ya know, I've always wanted to date a girl named: The Power.", Mordecai responded.
"The Power?", Rigby asked.
"Mmhmm. ", Mordecai nodded.
"I like it.", Rigby grinned.
"Me, too, dude.", Josh agreed.
"I guess it's all right.", Emily grinned.
Then, all of a sudden, the words "The Power" appeared with a white glow at the top of the keyboard.
"Cool...!", Mordecai, Rigby, Josh, Emily, and Candice spoke in unison.
Later, the group were outside with the keyboard on the grass.
"Alright, this time with feeling.", Mordecai spoke.
"Yeah yeah. Ready?", Rigby asked.
"Yeah. Yeah.", Mordecai responded.
"Okay.", Rigby responded before pressing The Power's on button.
"1, 2, 3, 4.", Josh began.
"5, 6, 7, 8.", Mordecai and Rigby added next before the group of four started dancing to The Power's music, spun, and then pointed.
"Give us a raise, loser.", the group spoke in amazement before they laughed.
"Hey, it's Pops.", Candice spoke up, pointing toward him as he stopped by.
"A-ha-ha! Hello.", Pops greeted.
"Hey Pops, what's up?", Mordecai greeted.
"Is that the sound of music I hear?", Pops asked.
"Yeah, something like that.", Emily responded before Rigby then whispered to Mordecai and the others.
"Dude, let's use The Power on Pops.", Rigby whispered.
"I don't know, Pops is kind of weird.", Mordecai responded as the group looked over at Pops, who laughed strangely as a butterfly approached near his face.
"Exactly, at least we can test it out on him, and he won't get mad at us if it doesn't work.", Pops responded.
"Okay, but let's not call him a loser.", Mordecai suggested.
"Why not?", Rigby asked.
"He's sensitive. I don't want him to cry, I just want him to give us a raise.", Mordecai responded.
"Yeah. Hurting sensitive people's feelings is not cool.", Emily agreed.
"Okay, let's do it.", Rigby agreed before he and the others turned to Pops.
"Hey, Pops! Check it.", Rigby spoke before Candice pressed the on button this time.
"1, 2, 3, 4.", Josh began.
"5, 6, 7, 8.", Mordecai and Rigby added before they danced to the music, spun, and pointed again.
"Give us a raise, Pops.", the group of four spoke in unison before they finished dancing with poses as Pops laughed.
"Good show, jolly good show! A pay increase, yes yes of course. Just let me get my billfold. Butterscotch Ripple?", Pops asked as he got out his wallet and got out 4 lollipops before Mordecai, Rigby, Josh, and Emily each take one.
"Ta-ta!", Pops spoke as he then left.
"Dude, I think that just worked.", Josh spoke.
"Yeah, I know.", Rigby agreed.
"I mean, if Pops wasn't so weird, he might have given us actual money.", Mordecai stated.
"Totally.", Emily agreed.
Then, Mordecai and Rigby ran off to show Benson The Power before catching up to him just as he's working at the shed.
"Ugh...", Benson sighed.
"Hey, Benson. Five, six, seven, eight.", the group spoke as Candice turned The Power on again before they started dancing to The Power's music.
"What are you doing?", Benson asked before the group spun and pointed at Benson.
"Give us a raise, Benson.", Josh and Emily spoke up.
"Give us a raise, loser.", Mordecai and Rigby spoke at the same time before they quickly backed up, afraid of how Benson will react.
"You know, you guys have been working harder, I think you deserve a raise. We can negotiate your new rates later in the week, but for now, how's 20 bucks each sound?", Benson asked as he handed Mordecai and Rigby four 20 dollar bills.
"Keep up the good work.", Benson spoke before driving away in a cart.
"Do you realize what this means?", Rigby asked.
"We can fix the hole?", Mordecai guessed.
"No, we can do everything we ever wanted!", Rigby spoke.
"Everything we ever wanted...?!", Josh and Emily spoke in unison.
Then, a montage of Mordecai, Rigby, Josh, and even Emily using The Power to get a bunch of stuff took place as the first two used the power to make a bouncy house out of nothing before making it take off like a rocket, giving Mordecai a red belly bag, which had a cool glove in it, a keytar, and a similar piano with glittery suits before Josh and Emily decided to use The Power to summon a mansion they can live in near the house as they and Candice waved to Mordecai and Rigby before going inside the mansion as the first duo then rode in a muscle car that became painted with a flame decal before later getting more stuff via The Power and then flying down as they ran only to bump into Skips.
"You guys shouldn't be doing what you just did.", Skips spoke.
"What, the flying or the hole?", Rigby asked.
"What hole?", Slips puzzled.
"Dude, get to The Power, he knows.", Rigby urged.
"Knows what?", Skips puzzled.
"Nothing, Skips. Uh, we were just getting back to work.", Mordecai responded before turning to Rigby and whispering.
"Dude, kick it to max power.", Mordecai whispered before Rigby turned on the keyboard again.
"5, 6, 7, 8! Using the Power in your face. Sending you back to your place. Don't look at our crotches while we synchronize our watches. Boop-boop-bweep—boop-boop-boo-bweep-bee-boo. Beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep, synchronized.", Mordecai and Rigby sang in unison as they pressed buttons in each other's watches before putting on red sweaters.
"Go away Skips, it's time for you to go away.", the duo spoke in unison as they danced around.
"It's time for you to go to your room!", Mordecai spoke.
"Yeah, Skips. It's time for you to go to the moon!", Rigby added.
But that slight error in lyrics proved to be a mistake as Skips then suddenly disappeared.
"Where'd he go?", Mordecai asked.
"Uh...", Rigby began.
"Did you just send Skips to the moon?", Mordecai asked.
"Isn't that what you said?", Rigby asked.
"No, room. I sent him to his room, not the moon, you idiot! Dude, wish him back!", Mordecai urged.
"But it doesn't work that way.", Rigby responded.
"What do you mean?", Mordecai asked.
"I can't see him, can I?", Rigby asked in response.
"Ugh, then we have to let Josh and Emily know about what happened and go get him.", Mordecai responded.
"But he's going to be ticked.", Rigby responded.
"Better than him being dead.", Mordecai retorted before Mona and Mela, along with Benson and Pops, arrived outside.
"Hey! Hey, have you guys seen Skips?", Benson asked.
"Yeah. We have something for him that needed to be fixed in the shed.", Mona responded.
"Rigby sent him to the moon.", Mordecai quickly responded before Rigby punched Mordecai, who then punched him back before Rigby groaned in pain.
"Wait, what?", Benson puzzled.
"We accidentally sent Skips to the moon with this keyboard and now we have to get him back.", Mordecai responded before Benson only laughed in disbelief.
"Ooh, I love the moon.", Pops spoke
"Come on, where's Skips?", Benson asked.
"Ugh! Look, we'll show you after we get some help.", Mordecai responded.
Later, the duo brought Benson, Pops, Mona, and Mela to the mansion, astounding them.
"What?! There's a mansion here?!", Benson exclaimed.
"It looks so marvelous.", Mona spoke in awe.
"How come we never saw that before?", Mela asked.
"I wonder who lives here.", Pops pondered.
"Yo, Josh, Emily! It's an emergency!", Mordecai shouted before the couple in question appeared up on the balcony.
"What is it, Mordecai?", Emily asked.
"What? Josh and Emily live in that mansion?!", Benson asked in surprise.
"It's about Skips! We accidentally sent him to the moon and we need your help to get him back!", Mordecai shouted.
"You what?! We gotta hurry!", Josh responded.
"But what about Candice?", Emily asked.
"We'll see if Bridgette and Alex can watch her for a few minutes.", Josh responded.
Later, Candice explained the situation to Alex and Bridgette near the cart.
"So, what you're saying is, Skips was sent all the way up to the moon by that magical piano keyboard that Mordecai and Rigby used?", Bridgette asked.
"Heck, yeah, that's what I'm saying.", Candice responded.
"I don't know. Doesn't it sound like a bunch of nonsense?", Alex asked.
"Hey, all that stuff's true, man.", Rigby retorted just as Mordecai and the others came back later.
"Come on, let's go! Jeez, you take forever.", Rigby spoke.
"Sorry, Pops had to go to the bathroom.", Mordecai explained.
"Twice.", Pops added.
"So, if what you're saying is true, how are we gonna get him back?", Mela asked.
"Don't worry, we got it.", Mordecai assured before he and Rigby began playing the keyboard while singing.
"Take us to the moon! Take us to the moon! Woah-oh! Won't you take us to the moon?", Mordecai and Rigby sang only for nothing to happen.
"Ha-ha, very fun-", Benson began before the cart suddenly vanished.
"Wow! That piano is magical!", Alex spoke in surprise.
"See?", Candice grinned.
"Huh. Who knew? But I guess that explains the mansion we saw on our way here.", Bridgette understood.
"Uh, yeah. Totally.", Alex agreed.
"So..., uh.., wanna play in the house for a few minutes?", Bridgette asked.
Meanwhile, everyone else in the cart screamed as they're apparently hurled through space before crash-landing on the moon, coughing and moaning before Benson got up.
"What is all this junk?", Benson asked as he and the others noticed an assortment of items are sitting before them.
"Um, don't get mad at me guys, but, uh, I kinda sent a bunch of stuff to the moon while you guys were in the house.", Rigby responded before it showed Rigby playing with the Power in a flashback.
"A bunch of baby ducks. Send 'em to the moon. Soda machine that doesn't work. Send 'em to the moon.", Rigby sang as Candice, Bridgette, and Alex looked on before it went back to the present.
"And that was before Candice had to explain what happened.", Rigby added.
"What else did you send?!", Mordecai exclaimed before a Moon Monster appeared, chasing Skips.
"Look! There's Skips!", Emily shouted.
"Oh, great, it had to be a monster.", Josh spoke.
"What is that?", Benson asked while backing away.
"I have no idea.", Emily responded.
"Rigby, you, Josh, and Mona go get Skips. We'll pick you up.", Mordecai urged.
"Okay, okay.", Rigby agreed before he, Josh, Mona, and Benson ran toward Skips while holding The Power as Mordecai struggled to turn the cart rightside-up.
"Guys, help me with this.", Mordecai spoke as he, Emily, Mela, and Pops started lifting the cart just as Rigby, Benson, and Josh caught up near the area.
"Let's go, let's go!", Rigby urged just as the moon monster roared, holding Skips before Rigby stopped and set The Power down.
"Come on!", Benson shouted.
"Can't you go any faster?!", Mona added.
"Give me a break! I have to come up with the words, you know.", Rigby responded before counting on his fingers.
"Okay, I got it. G-g-g-go away big monster go-go...no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!", Rigby shouted just as he began playing on The Power, which quickly lost power.
"What now?", Josh asked before Rigby tried to play The Power, but it was now unresponsive.
"Dude, I think the batteries just died.", Rigby responded.
"What?!", Benson, Josh, and Mona shouted in unison before the Moon Monster then closed in on Rigby, Josh, Mona, and Benson just as Mordecai and Pops have managed to turn the cart upright.
"Hurry up, dude!", Mordecai urged.
"Yeah, what's the hold-up?!", Emily added.
"The batteries are dead!", Rigby and Josh shouted.
"What?!", Mordecai and Emily shouted.
"I know!", Josh shouted back in reply before Rigby recalled what he said about hamboning.
"Hamboning will save your life someday. It'll be all like, 'What? You're trying to mug me?' I'm telling you, dude. HAAAMBONIIIING.", Rigby spoke before it transitioned back to the present.
"I know what to do. Hold this.", Rigby spoke before he handed The Power to Benson, Josh, and Mona.
"Rigby, what are you doing?", Mona asked before Rigby ran off toward the Moon Monster, who was about to eat Skips.
"Nooo!", Rigby shouted before he began hamboning the monster, which distracted him, allowing Skips to escape from the Moon Monster's grip and then ran and grabbed Rigby just seconds before the Moon Monster could crush him with his fist.
Then, Skips, holding Rigby, ran up to the cart, which is being driven by Mordecai, along with Pops, Josh, Emily, Mona, Mela, and Benson.
"WHOO!", Rigby cheered.
"What was that?", Mona asked.
"HAAAMBONIIIING.", Rigby replied as he and Skips jumped onto the cart.
"I can't believe you just did that.", Mordecai responded.
"At least it was good for something.", Emily responded just as the Moon Monster pursued the cart.
"Use the keyboard!", Skips urged.
"We can't! The batteries are dead.", Josh responded before Skips looked back at the Monster, who is dangerously close by now before pinching through the cart, pulling out a batch of power wires, and plugging it into The Power.
"Play it!", Skips shouted before Rigby quickly started playing The Power just as the Moon Monster reeled back for a punch.
"TAKE US HOME, TAKE US HOME, TAKE US ALL BACK HOME!", the groundskeepers all shouted before disappearing mere seconds before the Moon Monster crushed the golf cart to pieces.
Everyone screamed as they're launched through space again before they landed in Mordecai and Rigby's room where Candice, Bridgette, and Alex were, causing all of the walls to break apart and collapse, save for the hole Rigby and Mordecai made earlier.
"Ha ha ha, we did it! Yeah!", Rigby cheered as he triumphantly lifted The Power over his head.
"Hi, guys. How did it go?", Candice asked.
"And what the nuts happened up there?", Bridgette asked.
"That must've been really cray-cray out there.", Alex added.
"Well, it's a funny story.", Rigby responded just before Benson swiftly took The Power from Rigby's hands.
"Hey, that's mine.", Rigby spoke.
"Nope. You sent him to the moon, so the least you can do is give him your keyboard. Right, Skips?", Benson asked as he handed The Power to Skips.
"Right.", Skips agreed before breaking The Power in half with his knee, causing the nearby mansion to disappear.
"Awwww.", Mordecai, Rigby, Josh, and Emily groaned.
"And let's have it.", Benson spoke.
"What?", Rigby asked before Benson turned red as he shouted.
"THE $40.00 YOU TWO CONNED OUT OF ME WITH THAT STUPID KEYBOARD CRUD! I know you still got it, now, give it back.", Benson urged before Rigby sighed with he and Mordecai handing their 20 dollar bills back to Benson.
"Wait. You said $40.", Josh realized.
"Yeah. Wasn't it $80?", Emily added.
"You two get to keep it, but only because you actually did work hard, unlike those two. Speaking of which, Mordecai and Rigby, CLEAN UP THIS MESS OR YOU'RE FIRED! Ugh, can you believe this?", Benson asked as he and the others walked away.
"No.", Skips responded before he, Benson, Pops, Mona, and Mela left.
"Well, I can see this is getting awkward. So, we're gonna go.", Alex spoke before he and Bridgette started leaving.
"See you guys later.", Bridgette spoke before she closed the door.
"Well, we may not have a mansion to crash in, but at least we have good friends. And each other.", Josh spoke.
"Yeah. And Candice, too. For now, I think the park is close enough.", Emily finished.
"Yeah, but the hole's still there. Do you guys think Benson noticed it?", Rigby asked before Mordecai put the poster over the hole.
"He won't now.", Mordecai grinned.
"Dude, you're a genius!", Rigby grinned before the two high-fived as Josh and Emily sighed while facepalming as Candice laughed and clapped.
A/N: So, what'd you think? Good so far, right? Now, about that "1, 2, 3, 4" thing. It was a callback to a bumper I saw that had Mordecai saying that on one side before Mordecai and Rigby said, "5, 6, 7, 8." Just before the bumper ended with, "YEEEAUHHHH!". Just thought you should know. And I probably should've mentioned this earlier, but one of these days, I might post a surprise original story in this universe as well suggested by GiovanniGo called "Summer Vacation Adventure", although details are bound to change sometime in the future. That's all I can say as I don't know the exact release date yet. I would've kept that a surprise, but Until next time. :)
