Penny, Raj, and Howard ran from the restaurant. They had seen Sheldon get up from the table and didn't want to risk their newest price item.
Once they found themselves several blocks from Sheldon in a coffee shop, they took a nearby table to look at the picture.
"I still can't believe it" said Penny.
She saw Raj whisper into Howard's ear.
"That's because you can't speak to any woman. Not even Professor Douglas-Smith and she has a bald spot, not to mention she older than both of grandmothers put together," said Howard.
"What are you talking about over there?" asked Penny.
"Oh, Raj was just complaining that he could not find a date. But he has trouble speaking to women, even the ugly ones," Howard said as he texted the picture to Leonard.
"By the way, why can't Raj speak to women? Aren't there women in India? Surely, you spoke to them," asked Penny.
She say Raj attempted an answer, but then he whispered to Howard.
Howard repeated what Raj said to him.
"Raj told me to tell you that he has selective mutism. He could speak to women in India, but when he came to the United States as a Freshman, he found he could not do so. When he returns home, its easier, but it could be because they are all family. It's only in social situations," said Howard.
"That's interesting," said Penny. She didn't want to dive into Raj's quirks, but it seemed that he was trying to find the reason for his selective mutism and improve. Penny changed the subject and said, "I think we need to print this picture and have it framed!" she said.
"That's a great idea!" said Howard. Raj looked excited.
Meanwhile, Sheldon's date continued uninterrupted.
"I'm sorry about that. My friends tend to be busybodies and depend so much on me that they cannot leave me alone. They mean well", Sheldon said.
"I understand entirely. Do you see that woman with the Dodger's cap and sunglasses sitting to your right? That is my mother. She refuses to accept that I told her the truth about today's date," Amy said.
Sheldon saw the woman Amy was pointing to, and she was indeed sitting in a corner stealing glances at them.
"Amy, how do you feel about changing the course of humanity?" asked Sheldon.
"I do not know what you mean. I cannot answer that broad of a question. The only question I can answer right now is the type of beverage I prefer," said Amy.
Sheldon replied, "Well, I understand that is too broad of a question. What beverage would you prefer?"
"Tempered water. Also, just because you are fetching me water does not mean I will engage in coitus," she said with a stern gaze.
Sheldon smiled at her and got up to order a cup of water.
Back in the apartment, Leonard laughed out loud when he saw the picture of Sheldon and the girl beside him. He wanted to make a joke, but this time, Sheldon had outsmarted him since he was on a date while Leonard was at home.
