Back at the hospital, Leonard was sitting in the waiting room. Sheldon was initially opposed to the visit, but when he realized he could get a brain scan, he decided it was worth it to follow Leonard's plan. Leonard called his mother for advice since she cared about Sheldon and was a psychologist.
"Who did she say was Sheldon's intended?"
"A woman by the name of Amy Farrah Fowler. Sheldon met her on a website," said Leonard.
"Amy Farrah Fowler. She's a rising neurologist in her field. She will be an outstanding mate for Sheldon. Why they can change the world," said Beverly Hofstadter.
"You have met her before?"
"Yes, I have. It was a networking event for neurologists and slash psychologists held in Vienna. She made an outstanding presentation on the relationship between neurology and psychics. However, she seems to have lost her funding since I haven't seen her publish any new articles," said his mother.
"Fine, she's interested in physics and is a neurologist, but that doesn't mean Sheldon should just marry the first girl he dates with," said Leonard.
"Why not? I married the first boy I went on a date with. Trust me, a long courtship is overrated and requires too much work. For someone like Sheldon, a practical marriage might be better than a romantic one. You need to be more open and understand that not everyone thinks like you. I think Amy would be a wonderful addition to our family", said Beverly.
"Family, can I remind you that Sheldon is not your son? I am. " said Leonard.
"He may not be my son, but he is your brother. You take care of him and are raising this type of uproar because you're afraid he might get hurt," said Beverly.
Leonard didn't respond to his mother's assertion because it was true. He was trying to prevent Sheldon from getting hurt just like he would try to protect his siblings.
"My suggestion is that you meet Amy. The more you push Sheldon, the more he'll push back against you. Try to understand things from his point of view, " Beverly said.
"Fine, I'll do that," said Leonard.
"By the way, how are things with Penny? Sheldon mentioned that you guys broke up, and things are a bit tense."
" I'm Sorry, Mom. I have to go. Sheldon is here," said Leonard in a hurried voice.
Sheldon was still with the doctor, but Leonard wanted to avoid the conversation about Penny with his mother. His mother was a renowned psychologist but hardly a relationship counselor.
He had to wait for Sheldon for nearly two hours before the doctor called him into the room. Sheldon wanted Leonard to be informed about his condition as a precaution for everyone he visited the hospital.
Leonard entered the doctor's office and sat in the chair before him.
"Leonard, Sheldon is fine. The brain scans are the same as last year, but I recommend that we keep him under observation for at least 24 hours. He has an imaginary friend called Amy. I believe he is suffering in a psychological episode, and we have to keep in observation just to make sure. " said Doctor Phillips.
Leonard was a little startled at the doctor's recommendation and decided to interrupt him.
"The thing is, Doctor, Amy is real. My friends have met, and I even have a picture," said Leonard.
He held up his phone to show the doctor the picture of Amy and Sheldon together at the restaurant.
Sure, he thought Sheldon was acting crazy, but he didn't want him to get committed if there wasn't anything physically wrong with him.
"She's real? Then we need to have her committed if she agreed to marry Sheldon", said Doctor Phillips.
Raj and Howard climbed the three floors needed to get to Leonard's apartment.
"At least we get in our cardio for the day," said Raj once he reached the top of the steps. Howard lagged behind until a few minutes later, he reached the top of the steps.
They both knocked at Leonard's apartment but didn't receive an answer.
Penny heard them outside and opened her door to invite them in. Howard immediately walked in but then stepped outside again to get Raj by his arm and guide him towards Penny's apartment.
"Thanks, Penny. By the way, have you seen Leonard and Sheldon?" asked Howard.
"Well, Leonard took Sheldon to the hospital. He's engaged to Amy, and the intervention will start in about an hour," said Penny.
"They met yesterday!" Said Howard. Raj whispered the same thing to Howard.
"Yup and that's why we need the intervention. You guys will talk to Sheldon and I'm going to talk to this Amy girl. We need to make sure that Sheldon changes his mind'', said Penny.
Raj whispered to Howard, 'What about Leonard , what does he think? '
Howard repeated the same question to Penny.
'He doesn't agree with my idea based on his text message I received on the app. I don't think we should back off. We need to knock some sense into Sheldon.'' said Penny.
Penny, and Howard discussed their plan while Raj nodded in agreement. They expected Sheldon and Leonard to arrive soon followed by Amy. They had all night to convince Sheldon and Amy not to get married.
