Chapter 77:

Thanks to Them Part 6

The Dark Oracle Lives

Christa: AAAAAH!

Christa yelled out as she was fighting Shadam during the events of " The Scorpion's Curse. She fired two energy beams at him causing him to fall back. She got on top of him and grabbed hold of his face as he struggled.

Shadam: Get off me! You can't defeat me girl!

Christa: I won't let you hurt any of my friends any more!

Christa held onto Shadam as a white light was forming around her and it was engulfing Shadam.

Shadam: What are you doing? No. This can't be it for me. This can't be it!

Shadam screamed as he was being engulfed by the white light. But it wasn't over. He then found himself falling through a void that the portal had. He fell into the in between realm but as he hit the water he began to sink. He couldn't swim back up as he kept being pulled until finally he was pushed out of a portal. He fell to the ground as the portal behind him closed. He breathed heavily as he slowly got up. He was back to his normal state and his armor now gone showing his muscular built body.

Shadam: ( panting) I'm, I'm alive.

He quickly turned around and but saw no sign of Christa, Luz or the Owl House anywhere.

Shadam: What happened? Where did they go?

Shadam then heard a honking sound. He turned around and saw headlights coming right at him. He jumped out of the way as a car drove passed him.

Driver: Watch it pal!

Shadam watched as the car drove away. He looked around the night sky area as there were trees and road.

Shadam: Where am I?

Shadam walked down the road and not too long after he found Gravesfield.

Shadam: This isn't Bonesborough. This isn't even the Boiling Isles, it's the human world. That girl she must have sent me here. But how? No witch is able to create a portal. Not without Titan Blood. That's what Emperor Belos is trying to do. But now, how do I get back?

The scene shifts to him in the woods sitting in front of a fireplace. He held his hands together, closed his eyes and chants. The fire rose up and down reacting to his chanting until he stopped.

Shadam: It's no use. I can't see anything back home. I can't see what's going on nor can I contact Belos or the others. Does this mean I'm stuck here? But Belos is still rebuilding the portal. The Day of Unity is only few weeks away and if he uses the portal to come here and I can get back with his help. Hmmm, it seems the only thing I can do now is wait, lay low and keep myself out of site.

Some days pass by as Shadam tries to survive living in the human realm. If he had to go into town he would only go out late at night so he can sneak through the darkness. We would see him digging through trash bins and dumpsters trying to find materials, food and clothes to wear. He found some old rags as he was able to make a new monk robe. Although this one wasn't as nice as the one he used to have as it was old and dirty, but needed to so humans couldn't see his face.

He then began to build his shelter. He raised his hand up as it began to glow white. He yelled out as he swiped across a tree, cutting through clean as it fell. He then lift up the tree and threw it up in the air. He jumped up and throwing some kicks and punches breaking the tree down to lumber.

Shadam: Hmm, still got it.

We cut to the night with his shack built and sitting in front of a fire. He also resorted hunting his food and roasting above the fire looked like a racoon. As his meal cooked he sat there meditating.

Shadam: Nothing. It must be a distant interference between the two worlds. My comrade's probably think I'm dead. ( groans) But Emperor Belos I'm sure is very disappointed in me. I failed him. Can I say I failed? In a way I did, though I lifted the Scorpion's Curse I failed to bring the Golden Guard back to him. I guess this is my punishment. He did tell me not to come back if I didn't succeed. If he came back I wouldn't be surprised if he wouldn't let me back or kill me. I can't believe after my life service to the Emperor's Coven this is what I'm reduced to. But I wish I could at least see Selene again. What a women she is. I wonder is she still thinks about me.

A couple weeks pass. It was night and he was coming back to his shack carrying a buck over his shoulders. But then he sensed something.

Shadam: What was that? It feels like the Boiling Isles just slipped in. The portal. Does that mean Belos is here?

Shadam ran through the woods as he tried to trace where he felt that signal. As he was getting close he stepped back and crouched down in the bushes as he looked to see who it was.

Shadam: ( in his mind) It's Luz and her friends! What are they doing here?

He continued to watch as he noticed how beat up and distressed they look as his mind was full of questions.

Shadam: ( in his mind) What happened to them? How did they get back here? What happened to Belos and wait one, two, three... one is missing. The girl is not with them. Judging by the way she's acting, is she dead? Hmm?

Shadam then got a glimpse of the Eye in Luz's hand.

Shadam: ( in his mind) What's that in her hand?

He then followed them over to Luz's house. He hid from a distance as he saw Luz knock at her door, Camila opening it and embracing her as they went in.

Shadam: I see. So this must be her home. I don't know what's going on here or what's happened back home. But I can tell she must have ruined the Day of Unity and with the Golden Guard's help. Thankfully the other girl is not with them so that's one less to worry about.

Shadam began to remember his vision from before. Of him dying by either Luz, Hunter or Christa.

Shadam: Still though, one of them might still be able to kill me. I should just blow up the house with all of them in it! But I still need a way back to the Boiling Isles and I'm sure they need to as well. Not yet. Not yet.

The next day.

Shadam followed the Hexsquad to the old house where they would work on the portal.

Shadam: How did I not find this place? I could have just slept.

He watched take out the Eye and try to use it but nothing happened.

Shadam: Okay that, what is that she's trying to use?

Hunter: So I guess using the Eye is out of the question.

Alex: Alright then we move on to plan B. You still got those blueprints from the Unknown Isles?

Luz: Yeah.

Alex: Perfect we can make a portal.

Vee: But doesn't making something like that require Titan Blood.

Hunter: Yeah, how are we supposed to make a portal with no blood?

Alex: We don't need. Look Christa's mom said that the Eye does what Titan blood does but so much more.

Shadam: What?

Alex: We saw Christa use this to open a portal here, so if we can just harness the power, we can use it as a substitute power source.

Shadam: So that's how they got here. And now they're trying to get back. But of course the human can't use it. She's nothing but a powerless lowlife now. Then again the same goes for Golden Guard but, should I still be concerned about them and me.

Shadam continued watching as they made the first portal prototype with he palisman and tried to activate it. Only for the door to burst in flames.

Shadam: Fools. Did they really expect such an amateur set up would work?

Time has passed as Shadam would watch the Hexsquad frequently to work on the portal while trying to stay hidden and survive. Until one night, he came to the old house. He enters inside and finds the blueprints notes they wrote down about the portal and the Eye.

Shadam: These look like the schematics for the portal door. Where did they get this?

He picked up some notes and read it.

Shadam: The Eye of Ginga is said to have the power of the Titan himself. Christa was able to use it to make a portal for us to escape before she got left behind. Attempts one and two have failed. Attempt three is currently in progress. ( stops reading) So this Eye is that powerful. It's no wonder she overpowered me before, she had the powers of a god.

But then he looked out the window and saw Hunter. He gasped and backed away, but accidentally knocked down the board.

Shadam: Damn it not now!

He saw Hunter run away.

Shadam: He's leaving. I don't know if he saw me but I must go now.

The scene shifts to Shadam standing on the roof of the old house as he saw Luz and Hunter leave when they tried to search him.

Shadam: So she passed the Eye to her. Unacceptable. Something like that should belong to me. I was part of the Monks of Zabi and we were one with the Titan before Belos came. So I know what they're doing. But what do I do now? Do I steal the Eye? But what if I struggle? Do I wait for them to make real portal then kill them. ( groans) I'm tempted to kill them but what if Belos still wants them, or at least just the Golden Guard. If I killed Luz, brought Hunter and this Eye back he would reward me big. I wonder. But there is something I must do first. Something I have yet to complete.

Many weeks have passed as Shadam sat in front of a fire meditating. He sat there motionless for days as winds and rain came but did nothing to bother him. But his body began to shake until his eyes snapped open and fell to his knees breathing heavily. His hands on the ground formed into a fist and slammed the ground.

Shadam: Damn it! I nearly had it! I haven't done these mind battles in years but I swear they're more aggressive than before. ( gets up) I'll try again tomorrow.

Shadams leaves to go hunting, but on his way he makes stop at Luz's house and see's her exiting out of her window.

Shadam: What are you doing now human?

Shadam follows Luz to the old house where he see's the new portal prototype as seen in the previous chapter. He watched from behind the trees as Luz tried to use the portal on her own.

Shadam: Well this one is...quite unorthodox.

He saw Luz place the Eye on the pedestal connected to the car which was connected to the door.

Shadam: The Eye.

He watched Luz trying to activate the portal.

Shadam: She's right there. Alone, defenseless and with the Eye. I could just kill her. No, you must wait. But none of her friends are here and I can take the Eye.

His fingers dug into the tree bark as Luz was starting to activate the portal while he kept thinking about his vision and her involvement.

Shadam: Just make it quick. Just snap her neck and take the Eye!

Shadam at high speed appeared in front of Luz and raised his hand at her about to attack. This however startled Luz, making her press the acceleration pedal, overloading the door. Shadam heard the sounds of the door reacting as he turned around and it explodes. Shadam made it out of the explosion as he puts out the flames on his robes.

Shadam: That was too close. That was not a smart move.

He looks over and see's Luz exiting out of the car looking around for him. He was about to go back to kill Luz, but then he heard Amity calling out as she and Camilla enter to check on her. He lost his chance and had to leave.

The next night Shadam was meditating as he was going through his mind battle once again. This time we get a view inside his mind. Shadam was fighting white humanoid beings with hand to hand combat. He took down the last two as they vanished.

Shadam: I'm done with the low levels. Show yourself!

Then he heard a chuckling sound. Coming from the darkness was himself but with red eyes and with his old armor and blade.

Berserk Shadam: So you're back.

Shadam: I am here to finish what I started.

Berserk Shadam: You wish to take full control of your berserk power. You tried so much recently and you failed. Why are you so desperate to have full control over me now?

Shadam: To prove I am worthy of a master. It's always been my life goal, but not an easy one. I need you so I can continue to serve my duties of the Emperor's Coven.

Berserk Shadam: Is that a fact. ( retracts his blade) Then show me you are worthy of it.

The two Shadam's ran at each other and blew punch at each others face. Shadam got off as he threw multiple punches at his berserk self.

Berserk Shadam: Not bad. You are very good with combat. But what about your magic?

Berserk Shadam's eyes glows and fires the eye beam at Shadam. Shadam blocked the attack as it pushed him back. He then formed purple flames from his hands and fired them at his berserk self. Berserk Shadam blew it away with a simple wave from his hand. Berserk Shadam ran at Shadam and punched him in the stomach. Shadam stepped back gasping for air. Berserk Shadam was about to punch him in the face but Shadam caught his fist. He tried to punch him with his other fist but was also caught as Shadam knee kicks his berserk self and threw him aside and fired his eye beam at him.

He stood there on guard. The smoke cleared but Berserk Shadam was gone. But then he sensed someone behind him as Berserk Shadam was about to stab him with his arm blade. Shadam caught the blade with the palm of his hands. Shadam kept the blade tight as it was inches from his face as his berserk self kept pushing.

Berserk Shadam: You maybe skilled but you still lack your weapon.

Shadam: I don't need a weapon to win a fight.

Berserk Shadam: Quit the act. You lose again Shadam. Admit defeat or else I'll have to force you out the hard way.

Shadam: ( grunts) Never!

Shadam's hands glow as he breaks off his berserk's selfs blade and kicks him across the face and then eye beamed him. Berserk Shadam was on the ground but before he could get up Shadam stabbed him with his own blade. Berserk Shadam gasped and coughed as he looked down at the blade in his chest with his blood pouring out as Shadam twisted the blade deeper into him making him yell out.

Shadam: After all these years. I've finally conquered you.

Berserk Shadam: Fine you win. But what point was there to this? You failed to conquer your power when you were younger. Your failure lead to the death of Master Dozzle. If you weren't so weak before you could have saved him.

Shadam: I am aware of my past failures and I am about to correct them. With you in control I will make our enemies pay for what they did and please our master.

Berserk Shadam: So you say.

Berserk Shadam vanishes as his red aura merged with Shadam as the area began to light up. Shadam's eyes open as he is back in reality.

Shadam: Did I really do it?

Shadam closed his eyes and focused. He felt his power rise as his eyes turned red and his body forming some electric waves.

Shadam: I did. After all this time I finally conquered my own power.

Shadam rose his fists up and let out a yell as his power rose up and cackled.

Shadam: I am finally at my max! I have mastered the ultimate technique! The time for my revenge is about to come. Luz, Hunter, I'm coming for you.

Author's Note: That's it for this chapter. Surprised most of you didn't see Shadam coming. Thought I left enough hints in the story with the details and lore. Sorry this ones a bit short but there was only so much I could tell here. One thing worth mentiong is that I went back and edited the 35th chapter and retconned Ginga's design to match more like the show's Titan as seen in the finale. Be sure to go back and check it.
