Roz The Wild Spirit
After watching 'The Wild Robot' movie, I absolutely love it and look forward it sequel movie! It remind me Ori games that is my fav games so after some time and decided to write a short crossover here though it involved with my Ori AU but it good enough for me you enjoy this short fanfic and sorry about the really bad summary.
PS: Will contain spoiler from 'The Wild Robot Escape' and 'The Wild Robot Protect' book here so unless you don't mind the spoiler free to read this fanfic.
Chapter 0 : Goodbye to Robot life and Hello to Spirit life
Roz has live a very great life if anyone ask her before her passing in her old world. Ever since she returned to the island, she finally feel freedom having free from the Universal Dynamics and able live whatever she like thanks to her creator Dr Molovo.
However even though she gained her freedom, it doesn't mean she can have a happy life forever. The nature of life can be cruel in some way, because Roz is a robot there will be the time when someone dear to her pass away due to their life come to an end. One by one her precious family move on from the world leaving her behind as she continues live on.
Even death cannot escape her son Brightbill when it was his time to go but even so she promise him that she will continue to live on for the next generation. At least that what she thought as that was a promise she cannot keep forever, even robot will also fall victim to the nature itself as time when on and Roz is no exception.
So the day when it time for Roz to shut down for good after so long in the wild and how much it effect her robot body, she accept it as it was the way of life itself so she has one last dream about her time when she arrived at the island before shut down permanently.
She thought that now it was her time to go, maybe she will able to see her family again in after life. Where she can join her family again after miss them so much. But yet fate can be cruel in some way.
At first she felt like she having a lightless dream when she feel she was slowly drifting in the sky and then the next thing she knew she suddenly found herself on the soft grass. She then open her eyes and found herself somewhere on a grassy field and then she noticed a giant tree in the middle of the grass field she was in.
The giant tree has some mysteries glowing blue stuff on it but what got her attention was the blue brightness light that in the core of the tree protected by the tree branches.
Roz attempt to scan the mysterious tree but only to realize she can't at all, she then try to do a self examination system check and yet also can't. She then look down at her body to see herself in a white glowing body instead of her usual metal body.
She then panic a bit as she stand up which kinda weird feeling for her because she has real leg now instead of her robotic leg. She examined herself in confusion but also amazed, especially she also got a tail. She then noticed that whatever white glowing creature she was she still got some blue line mark that in same spot as her old robot body where her LED light was.
While Roz still examining her body, she fail to notice that a lightblue female spirit is floating toward her. As the female spirit got close she noticed the blue mark on Roz body in recognize, she quickly send a message through her spirit light to the spirit tree before got closer to Roz.
Roz then feel someone heading toward her, she look up to see female spirit and panic at the unknown. The female spirit see this and chuckles at her as Roz remind her someone in the past.
"It alright young child there no need to be afraid." said the female spirit. Roz pause at the voice of the unknown spirit before open her mouth to ask the endless questions in her mind but yet found herself unable to speak.
"Tell me. What is your name little one?" ask the spirit as she sit down next to Roz.
"…..My name is Roz." Roz answered quietly.
"Roz…..as in short name of Rozzum robots perhap hmm?" the female spirit smiled while Roz look at her in surprise.
"How did you…." Roz question when interrupted when something flew through the sky above her startled her. She look up and see another spirit flying in the sky with it blue light butterfly wings.
The spirit glanced at Roz for a moment before his eyes open wide a bit as it look toward the female spirit next to Roz.
"Sein. Is she…." judging from the voice this is a male spirit and the female spirit who Roz now learn her name call Sein nodded at the male spirit.
The male spirit give a sound hmm before descend to the ground and his butterfly blue wings change into a blue cloak. The male spirit give Roz a smile "Then welcome to Spirit World." To say that just make Roz have more questions.
Having welcoming Roz in the Spirit World, the male spirit name Kei has gone to get a spirit air ship as Roz was told she was not the only one here so they plan to bring her to where the other like her are staying.
On the way to the destination with the air ship, Roz got an explanation about where she was and what world she was in. She learn that the male spirit is name Kei who is the Spirit Tree of the forest call Nibel while the female spirit is name Sein who is the Spirit Light that reside in the middle of the Spirit Tree.
Roz was told she is now on an giant island that have two forest region where she was reborn in one of the forest Nibel while the other forest is name Niwen. Then Roz was explained by Sein about the nature of the Guardian Spirit and the Spirit Tree itself.
Sein then told Roz that their destination are in the Niwen forest as it was where the other that came from Roz world having gather and live together. Roz was then curious why they know she is not an originally a spirit which her answer was that her mark on her body is the proof of it as the other like her also have the similar mark only in different color and style.
Roz then ask if they know lot about her world which they say they don't as they don't pray into other past life or their world. They only know where she was from and what she was before, Kei then explained to Roz that some that came from the same world as her not really have a good memory about it so they didn't press about it.
When they fly past above a giant lake that stand in the middle between two forests, Roz has noticed a giant crystal tower in the middle lake and ask what was it. They only answer her that is was an scared place where an ancient artifact is seal there which also protect the island they are live on, Roz thought there probably more about it but they say it not really important so she didn't press more information about it.
(While this is take place in my Ori AU world here but this is a fanfic about Roz and the other so my Ori AU info is no need to include here)
After fly pass the lake, they have arrived the forest of Niwen and soon land the ship on the ground. Kei said that they have to walk the rest of the way instead of using the air ship, during the walk Sein has told Roz that in Niwen it was watch over by Spirit Willow name Ori together with the Spirit Light name Seir.
Sein has contacted them about Roz situation and they are waiting for them with the other. During the walking through the forest, Roz was amazed by the beauty of these forest and seen many different kinds of creatures here that almost only seen as fairy tales.
Soon they arrived at small village with many small hub, as they pass through the gate of the village Roz read the name of the village is call 'Rozzum village' which make her think it perhaps name by the reborn robot that came before her.
The moment they in the village, Roz saw many spirits doing their own thing but unlike the spirit that they have past on the way the spirit in this village have similar mark and color just like Sein has told her.
Kei said that the one that will help Roz is in the middle of the village so they heading toward there, on the way some spirits glance at them in curious but mostly at Roz and some greet Kei and Sein.
When they about to arrive Roz see that hub that is little bigger then the other hub with three spirit is waiting in front of it. The small spirit in the middle saw them and wave her hand at them happily which Sein point out she is Ori and the light orange spirit hovering next to Ori is Seir, the third spirit has the same but different mark and color like Roz but for some reason Roz feel like she know this robot that is reborn as spirit.
The first thought of the robot that came to her mind which make Roz dismiss it immediately, since there no way that spirit is possible her right? Roz still remember what she done to her and how she hurt her and her son Brightbill. While it true in the end that robot was destroyed by Roz hand which did make her feel guilty about it but there no way that spirit is her….right?
"Hey! You the new spirit that was reborn here right?" ask Ori as she wake up to Roz to shake her hand which Roz return kindly.
"Welcome to our world! My name is Ori and this is my sister Seir! You probably know my another sister Sein and my brother Kei but let me introduce you to the one who help you settle down here!" Ori then gesture to the third spirit who give Roz a kind smile before introducing herself.
"Hello! My name is Vontra! It was a pleasure to see another of our kind reborn here in this world!" said Vontra happily but what she didn't know was that the moment Roz heard her voice and learn her name she froze up a bit.
This confirm that this spirit is indeed Vontra, the same robot that once want to force Roz to return to Universal Dynamics but end up destroy by Roz. Roz quickly recovered to avoid other see her panic as she give Vontra a nervous smile.
"Vontra is the one in charge of this village so she can help you anything you need to help you settle down here easier!" said Ori as she explained happily to Roz before notice the sun about to set.
"Oh is it already that late? Well time for us to return home now here. Vontra we leave her in your care now call us if you need any help!" And just like that Ori wave back as she and her family leave the village and return to their own home.
Vontra happily wave back as they leave before turn to Roz "Come on in! I go make us some tea here and let discuss a way to help you here." She gestured Roz to come into the hub which Roz accepted as she enter Vontra home.
Inside Vontra home Roz feel the place calm and pleasant as she look around the place, since like Vontra been live here for a while Roz thought. She then look at Vontra when Roz hear she questioning her as Vontra prepared the tea.
"So do you have a name yet? If not you can tell me your design number when you were still a robot, we can came up new one for you when you settle here." Vontra ask as she picking up the leave for the tea not looking at Roz.
Roz look at Vontra with complicated feelings wonder should she lie but decided to be honest instead "…..My name is Roz. Former know as Rozzum unit 7134.".
Hearing this Vontra froze at what she was doing before slowly look at Roz. At first Roz thought she will see Vontra angry at her but instead she see Vontra looking at her with calm expression.
"I see….so it was you." said Vontra quietly but there is no threating in her voice. She then look at Roz for few second before shake her head and give Roz a small smile which surprises her.
"The tea about to finish. I guess we have lot to talk about." With that Vontra back to making tea leaving Roz in her thought.
Roz pretty sure that Vontra remember what she did to her on that ship when Roz trying to escape so she did expect for Vontra to get angry at her for it. But instead Vontra give her a smile as if she forgive Roz, something must have change Vontra after she was reborn so Roz can only wait for her to finish making tea and talk to her.
Once Vontra finish she give Roz one cup of tea which Roz is thankful before sit down next to Roz. Vontra look down at her own tea for a few moment before asking Roz.
"So what do you think of this world so far Roz?" ask Vontra as she look at Roz in curious.
"Well…..Im feel surprised and yet confused when I wake up in this body. But feel amazed at this world while on the way to here." at Roz answer Vontra smile in relief.
"That great to hear. Was worrying you may not able to accept all of this so sudden." Hearing Vontra word cause Roz observed her for a moment.
"….You changed Vontra." Hearing this Vontra chuckle.
"And why do you think I changed Roz?" ask Vontra amuse.
"Well I honestly expect you to be angry at me for destroying you back on that ship and not expecting you sitting here now just talking with me calmly." Vontra look at Roz quietly before look down in thought.
"….If Im still the old me maybe I will. But after living here for a while it really give me lot of thought about my life and well….it changed me for the better." said Vontra chuckle as she remember her time after reborn in this world.
"Vontra how long have you live here after reborn in this world?" At this question Vontra silence for a minute.
"….More then ten years maybe? I honestly don't know. Kinda stop caring about that after feel comfortable living here and feel peaceful." Vontra give Roz a painful smile which noticed by Roz.
"It must not be easy for you I see." Vontra only laugh dryly at Roz.
"Well…those days were really hard and painful for me to be honest. To the point Im in denial about everything here is real and break down….".
"…I willing to listen here. If it help make you feel better." Vontra pause a bit as she look at Roz who give her a kind smile. After a few moments Vontra begin her story.
"As a robot I have push my emotions away since been told that robot should not feel anything, so when I reborn here I honestly lost at what happen to me. Those emotions I push away start to emerge, the feeling of confusion, panic, anger…..and loneliness." Hearing this Roz stand up and sit next to Vontra and put her hand on her giving her comfort which Vontra returned with her smile before continued her story.
"It was then for the first time I don't know what to do, I lost all my function as a robot and in completely unknown territory without any way to get help. Really close to thinking shutdown myself permanently that time because of how broken I was…." To say it hurt Roz how close to Vontra end herself back then when she is alone.
"…..How did you overcome it? Seeing you still alive and well mean you must have somehow managed to recover from it." ask Roz which Vontra look at her for a moment before look out through the window and look at the top of a hill where Spirit Willow is sitting and Vontra smile.
"It was thanks to Ori." follow Vontra gaze Roz also spotted the Spirit Willow in the distance on the hill.
"Ori? As in the Spirit Willow of Niwen?" Vontra nodded at Roz as she was reminded of those days when Ori save her from loneliness.
"Ori has save me from myself when she noticed how broken and lost I am. I have say lot of bad things at her even get angry at her but yet she still try to help me when I keep pushing her away." hearing this Roz thankful to Ori that she help Vontra when Roz can't.
"Not just Ori trying to help me but also her family too. The two spirits that guide you from Nibel and the one you see this morning standing next to Ori, they all help me get through the difficult times I have." Roz was glad that Vontra doing well thanks to those spirits.
"Since then it give me lot of time to think about my life and also learn a lot about this world. Every spirit here is so kind and I slowly enjoy living here and feel peaceful now I no longer tie to the Universal Dynamics." Roz feel happy now seeing Vontra has find her own place where she is happy.
"Anyway enough about me here. So Roz how is your life after….you know, prevent me from taking you back. How is your life before you reborn here." ask Vontra as she curious how Roz have been doing back in their old world.
"Well…..after I stop you I have decided to return to Universal Dynamics to protect my family on the island. After they repair me I…" for the rest of the evening Roz has told Vontra her adventure in the old world before turn in for tonight.
For the next few weeks Vontra has introduced Rox to the rest of the spirits that are live within Rozzum village and to Roz surprise many former rozzum robot heard about her through the rumor that spread around Universal Dynamics in their old days.
After finish introducing to the spirits in the village, Vontra has been showing Roz around Niwen and Nibel. To say Roz is fascinated with everything she seen so far and wish to learn more about it. Roz learn that Vontra is the chef of the village and been helping around whatever there a rozzum spirit in trouble.
Vontra apparently also decided to be the one care for the future Rozzum reborn spirits and help them settle down their new life. According to Vontra this happen after two years of her stay in this world and having know the kindness Vontra has received, she decided to help them just like how Ori and other help her.
Seeing how hardworking Vontra is Roz decide to help her in her task and also get spend some time bonding with the other. Soon Roz become Vontra chef second in command and live together with Vontra.
Right now it evening and Roz is sitting in her bedroom while doing her personal task on a wooden portrait. If there is one thing she miss about being robot is her laser which will make this task more easier but she won't complain.
As Roz continued crafting on the wooden portrait, Vontra come back into the house and grab some fruits from their kitchen which got Roz attention.
"Where are you going Vontra? And what are you doing with those fruits?" Roz ask as she look at Vontra who just noticed her.
"Oh hey Roz! And as for these? These are for other roozum spirits who now having a campfire night in the middle of the village. Want to join?" Vontra ask Roz who accepted.
"Sure! Let me put this away first." Putting away her personal project. Roz follow Vontra to the middle of the village where a campfire is holding and there she saw many former robot spirits has gather there and they all having a great time together chatting or playing.
Roz and Vontra soon reach to one of the group next to the campfire and it seen like they are singing together with the hand made instruments. They stop when saw Vontra return with Roz and wave happily at them.
"Welcome back Vontra! And I see Roz is here to join us!" said one of the rozzum spirit name Roy.
"Glad to join the fun here. So what are you all doing?" ask Roz as she glanced at the instrument they holding.
"Oh these? We been trying to play some music here with what we remember from our world here." answer a female rozzum spirit name Lucy.
"So far we good at playing instruments here but none of us can sing really well." this time said the male rozzum name Ray.
"Is that so…..is it alright for me to try singing here?" ask Roz as she look at the wooden guitar and pick it up and ready herself.
"You can sing Roz?" Vontra ask curiously as she sit next to Roz.
"Just few song. Help me get through some hard time when I sing it for other when I miss my family." said Roz as she take a deep breath while other watch her in curiosity but also ready themselves to play the instrument with her if need.
Roz start playing the guitar and then start to sing.

Time will slip on by if you're stuck here living life with too much caution~ (oh~)
So go out in this world and get every single thing you ever wanted~ (mm~)
Here Vontra start with singing in sync with Roz.

The moment Roz finish singing, she was recive clapping and cheer from the surrounding spirits around her which cause her to blush.
"That was beautiful Roz." Vontra praised Roz which cause her to blush more deeper.
"Thanks. It an important song to me when it remind me the time when I teach my son Brightbill how to fly." said Roz as she remember the past.
"Can you sing one more song Roz?" ask Rummage which surprises Roz when she meet her here in this world too.
"Well….I can sing one more song if you all like it." hearing this the surrounding spirits quiet down as they all paid attention to Roz who take a small breath and sing again.

Roz finish singing as other clapping again and cheers for her for beautiful song.
"You really sing wonderful Roz. I hope you know that." Vontra smile at Roz who return her smile.
"Thank you Vontra. But I think that all for today song from me, I sing again another time now it really late." At this some of the spirit sad as they are not ready to sleep yet.
"How about tell us your story Roz? We want to hear your adventures before turn in for the night."
"Yeah! Vontra said that you has escape from a farm and event meet our mother!" To say Roz surprised at the Rozzum spirit word and look at Vontra.
"You told them Vontra?" At this Vontra smile innocent.
"They bound to learn it one way or another Roz so why not just tell them straight away? Not to mention they been curious about your life now before you came here so just entertain them."
" *sigh* Alright…..let see it all start when I wake up from a beach…." The rest of the evening Roz spend time telling her adventure to the rest of the rozzum spirits which they are listening happily.
Few days later
Roz now is focusing on wooden portrait as she is about to finish it after work on it so long. Soon enough she admired her handy work and place the wooden portrait on the wall. Vontra at that moment looking for Roz as she enter the house.
"Hey Roz you ready to do the patrol around the forest?" ask Vontra as she walk up to Roz.
"Yes I am ready." Roz smile at Vontra who now noticed the wooden portrait on the wall.
"Roz are they…" ask Vontra as she stand next to Roz looking at the portrait.
"Yes…..they are my animals family. I want to something to remember them here so I remake wooden portrait I once has back at my old home." Roz look at the wooden portrait in sadness which Vontra noticed and put her hand on Roz shoulder to give her comfort.
"Roz…..I know we can never replace your family here but do know me and other here will be here for you." at Vontra response Roz give her a kind smile.
"I know Vontra…..and thanks for letting me stay here with you." Hearing Roz will be alright now Vontra nodded and give her a smile before hold out her hand to Roz.
"Come on. The other are waiting for us here." at this Roz take Vontra happily as they leave their house to join the other.
It true Roz is still miss her family but even so she still keep her promise to her son to continue live even if she now in a new world, and who knows maybe she will meet her family again in this world one day until then she will continue survived.
Bonus part:
Meanwhile at the beachside of Niwen where a wooden dock was built, a large wooden ship just finish docking allowed the passenger on the ship to land. Among those spirit and other creatures that exited the ship, one of them is a grey owl as he look up at the forest in nervous.
"Well here we are…..the forest of Niwen. Just a little longer and we reach Rozzum village." said the grey owl before look down in sadness.
"Do you think Roz will be here Fink?" the grey owl ask the orange fur moki that came with him.
"Relax Brightbill! Im sure Roz will be here! I mean most of the animals have reborn in this world! Just as different animals and they all have found their own place here." said the orange moki as he try to cheer the grey owl.
"Fink is right Brightbill. Im sure my daughter will be happy to see you again." The grey owl look behind him to see a spirit that is wearing a leaf made cloak walk next to him.
"You really think so grandma?" The female spirit nodded.
"I may not spend much time with her when I was still a human but she is easy to read like a open book." The female spirit laughed at the old memories.
"For an old woman you sure don't act like one Molovo —OW!" The orange moki got cut off as he was hit by the female spirit wooden stick.
"I have you know now that I reborn im good as young as you are so watch your words carefully you stupid fox."
"Yeah yeah ow that hurt."
"Haha come on let ask around which way is to Rozzum village."
With that the grey owl, orange moki and female spirit enter the Niwen forest, soon to reunite with Roz.
Well hope you like this short fanfic! Despite it a really bad summary and not that good but it satisfies me here so gonna turn my attention back to my pokemon fanfic after some break!
