Some where at Melemele Island.
In the middle of a night, at the building that looked like some kind of factory deep in the forest, a person was silently going around that place. He has black hair with golden eyes, there were a lot of bandages around his arms, legs and neck. After being sure that everything is safe, he took a rope out of his bag, went to the highest and nearest tree he could see, threw the rope which was attached to a metal hook to the head.
He threw out a poke ball, it appeared a fluffy purple bat pokemon, its ears is huge and looks like loudspeakers and big yellow eyes. It has tiny black claws attached to its small light-purple wings. Dark purple flaps of skin connect its tiny wings to its body. Its belly is light purple, as well as its small dangling feet.
"Noibat, use Supersonic to locate him" The bat nodded, it made such high waves of sound that no human could hear them. After a while, Noibat gave a signal for the black-haired boy to follow him, passing through many white hallways and avoiding the eyes of countless guards, the two of them arrived at the room that seemed to them to be the most protected.
Sending Noibat back to his poke ball, the boy hid behind a pillar to avoid from being noticed.
'It won't be easy to get pass that guard...' He thought about the man and the Mightyena next to him.
"Hey there, grunt A, it's time for us to change now." Suddenly another person came, that grunt didn't seemed to be as careful in guarding as the other.
"Don't fall asleep like last time" The one called grunt A said, the dark-type dog also growled a bit before going with its trainer.
The guard said with a yawn after making sure that grunt A has completely gone away "He just said as if there will be someone dumb enough to break in Team Shadow hideout"
The intruder smirked, he sent out his other partner, Espeon. "That man didn't have any pokemon next to him, so all you have to do is sneak in front of him and use Hypnosis as fast as you can" He whispered.
The psychic type pokemon did what its trainer said, the black-haired boy caught the guard from falling to the floor, he tried to make as less noise as possible while taking the man's member card to open the electric door.
Inside the room was an ultra ball contained the pokemon they were finding. At the moment he taking it out of the glass box, the alarm went off which made them a little surprise.
"Wow~They actually put an alarm to this thing but didn't give it to all other doors" The boy said while running to the window he used to climb in.
He managed to escape from the building.
Wandering through the forest while Nobat using Supersonic to make sure no one was following them. The thief stopped at the vast place at Wild Area, after completing looking around, he sat down.
"Come out guys, it's safe now!" He said when sending out all his pokemon. Espeon and Noibat were his friends from the start, and the pokemon the that ultra ball which the mysterious organization has stolen. It seemed to be cautious about him.
The pokemon appears to be made of smoky gray shadows. The area around its face resembles headgear, such as a helmet. On top of the helmet are two curled horns or ears with a wispy horn between them. Its eyes are orange-red with yellow pupils, and above each eye is a yellow, oval marking. Each arm has a small bump on the wrist. Around its neck is a smoky collar, and there is a trail of shadows on each foot.
"Hello there lil'guy! I'm Zein, Z for short. Professor Laura asked me to get ya back" He smiled "I'm just do this for money so~ Don't expect me to have any brave or kind personality as those legendary trainers like Red or Blue. But I'll make sure that you will get home safely."
Espeon sighed, the mythical pokemon's face was as the same as the first time she met Zein since she was an Eevee. "Don't worry" The psychic type said by telepathy. "Z is a good person...It's just...Uhm...His brand was a little...Abnormal...Anyway, you'll get use to him"
The thief laughed a bit "I can read your expression, ya know? By the way, what did the prof call you again? Mashi...Marshal...Uhh..."
"Mar! Marshadow!" It cried out its name.
"Right! Marshadow!" The boy stopped for a bit, then he reached out his hand "Do you want to come with me? Marshadow?"
The mythical pokemon didn't seemed to trust him very much, but it had no choice since Marshadow didn't know how to come back to professor by itself. Therefore, Marshadow accepted Z's suggestion.
Twenty minutes later.
They were going through the forest to reach the nearest town, Zein tried to have some conversations because Marshadow kept silent all the time.
"Hey there! Since we still have a lot of time and you don't seem to trust me very much, do you want to know why did Prof ask a thief like me to bring you back?"
The ghost type nodded.
"That's was a normal night like the others, I had heard about the new update to the Alolan pokedex, and as a thief, I just thought it would give a lot of money if I stole and sold some."
"At this time last month, I was breaking in professor Laura's house who had moved to Alola two days before. I went around everywhere in her house, there was nothing that looked like a pokedex. I sighed and decided to leave, but her Meowth had seen me and immediately attacked me, the sounds of us fighting make Pros wake up."
"Luckily, She just said that I could use my thieving skill to get a pokemon named Marshadow which was stolen from her a day ago back if I didn't want to go to the police station, and I agreed."
"And that's why we are here" He finished. "Let's continue moving, shall we?"
Route 1.
At the same time.
"Aunt Laura, where can I put this box?" The white-haired girl asked her aunt, she has ruby-eyes which have never shown any happiness or exciment,
"Next to the sofa, sweetie~" The 14-year-old seemed to be a little annoyed due to being called 'sweetie'. "I'll go to my room now, it's time for me to do my summer homework"
The professor sighed. "I hope you do not to push yourself too hard, Allie, remember tomorrow morning is your special day!"
'Yeah, yeah, my SPECIAL day'
Three months ago, professor Kukui had called her to talk about the trainer passport and her starter pokemon, too. But Allie just thought it is annoying to have a pokemon, maybe she will give it to Laura to take care of later.
Tomorrow.
6:00 AM
'She's still sleeping?' Allie thought when drinking her coffee. 'Right, she is on her vacation anyway'
Suddenly the niece heard someone knocking, openning the wooden door, there was a girl who seemed to be at the same age as her. The stranger has long-straight-yellow hair and green eyes, she wears a large white hat and the same color dress that made her seem like a...doll? She also carries a round bag with a Poké Ball design on both sides.
"E-Excuse me, you are Allie, right?" The girl asked nervously.
The red-eyes just nodded.
"I'm professor Kukui's assistant, my name is Lillie" She continued, it was obviously that Lilie was a little afraid of Allie's bullet-eyes. "He asked me to take you to his lab, so...Are you free now?"
"Wait a minute..." The white-haired girl said then closed the door impolitely.
Sigh. 'Right, I should take a bath now'
Trying to hide her uncomfortable face, Allie followed Lillie to Professor Kukui's lab. The house is simpler than her aunt's lab in her hometown, Kanto region, it is a wooden house with familiar tropical architecture.
BANG! CRASH! BOOM!
There were many noises came from the lab. Lillie sighed "He do that again...I have just fixxed his coat yesterday..."
"So, professor Kukui studies about pokemon moves, and he..uhm...usually practice those right inside his lab...Uhm...just...Be careful when you're around the lab" She explained.
'Another annoying one...'
The door openned and a man came out, at least from his appearance, Allie was sure that he is professor Kukui.
"Alola, cousin! We are waiting for you!" He said.
'W-We?' The red-eyes girl confused.
Her question was immediately answered by the time a boy coming out of the lab, he has dark-green-hair tied to a short ponytail which was very suit with his dark skin, he wears a black t-shirt and yellow shorts that have a few orange flowers. He wears orange shoes with the same color backpack.
"Alola, bud! So you're the other future dexholder professor has told, Allie, right?" He smiled "I'm Hau! By the way, have you made the choice in your mind yet? About the starter pokemon you will choose!"
Right, she almost forgot that. The hardest choice of all trainers ever, even for a person who wasn't interested in battle like Allie. She didn't need a strong pokemon, the white-haired girl just wanted one which doesn't annoy her.
Same place, same time. On a high tree near there.
"Hmn...Should I..." The thief hasn't made it to professor Laura's house yet, but he found something interesting on the beach. Four people, two girls, a man and a boy with three pokemon. Due to its color, Zein was sure that those are grass, water and fire type, the trio type of the starter pokemon.
Suddenly Marshadow punched at his face.
"Ow! Okay okay, I won't steal anyone, so stop using Sucker Punch on me, alright?" He grumbled "Let's rest hear and observe them a little bit, shall we?"
The ghost type sat down as an agreement.
"This one" She said when picked up Rowlet, the grass/flying type pokemon.
'Having a fire type would burn all my stuff into ashes, on the other hand, water could make all my homework and papers wet and unreadable' That's why she chose Rowlet, a grass type.
"Then I'll take Popplio" Hau said. "Let's have a battle, Allie!"
"N-" The girl had no time to say anything, Hau has started the fight.
"Popplio, use Water Gun!" He said.
'Annoy...Just end this quickly'
She commanded "Rowlet! Holding Popplio and fly up high then drop it down. Use Leafage to create sharp leaves when it fall!"
Even though Rowlet was just barely quicker than Popplio, that was enough for him to avoid the attack an do the plan. Because of taking the damage of falling and super-effective move at the same time, Popplio was one-shot immediately.
"W-Whoa..." Lillie stood there in surprise while Hau couldn't believe what he had seen.
"Wow, Allie! You're a talented one!" Professor Kukui said. "I could see you become some kind of champion some days, well, if Alola has one..."
"No" She said without any shyness. "I just want to study and focus on my future, battling and anything like that is unnecessary and such a waste of time. I've got to go, aunt Laura may have woken up now"
She left.
On the tree.
"Did she say 'aunt Laura' ?" Zein wondered.
He saw Espeon and Marshadow looked at him with judgmental eyes. "Come on, I didn't mean to eavesdrop on them, it just...We are quite near them, so...Anyway, should we come to Prof's house or not?"
The four including Noibat decided to wait a little more.
As Allie returned to her aunt's house, the professor was sitting on the sofa, drinking coffee in the living room. She looked up as Allie entered, noticing her expression.
"You look displeased, dear" Laura said with a hint of concern. "How was your trip to Professor Kukui's lab?"
Instead of an answer, the white-haired sighed. "I followed Lillie to professor Kukui's lab, there was another person named Hau, too. He asked for a battle but didn't give me any chance to deny or accept..."
Laura chuckled "He has always been that spirited"
"You know him?" Allie said in an unchanged voice.
"It's been a long time, you know I had gone to Alola years ago for my research about this region's legendaries, Hau is the Melemele kahuna's grandson, If I'm not wrong, that time he was just a little toddle"
The professor stopped for a bit. "By the way, what pokemon did you choose?"
"Rowlet, he is the least annoying of the three, I mean...Litten can burn all my documents and stuff while Popplio will ruin all the papers and electrical devices"
Laura placed her cup down on the table with a sigh. "Sweetie, I know you've always been a strict person, but can you stop thinking about studying and those exams that will happen in months later. Remember, we are here, at Alola for a vacation."
"And what do you think mother will say if I don't study carefully and fall the entrance exam?"
The woman had a longer sigh. 'My lil'sister, have I told you that isn't a good way to raise your child...' Suddenly there was a knock at the door, Laura was the one who went to open it.
There was a familiar girl standing outside, next to her was a boy, Laura immediately recognised Lillie and Hau. "Oh dear, How can I help you two?"
"Uhm...Excuse me, is Allie here?" The light-yellow-haired said, Hau explained "She forgot taking her pokedex"
"She is in the living room, do you want to drink anything? Don't worry our house has many types of drink" Professor invited them.
The boy accepted without any hesitation "I'll take a Moomoo Milk then, what about you, Lillie?"
"Uhm...I would like a cup of tea, please"
The 30-year-old professor told them to sit down on the sofa where Allie was reading a thick book without paying any attention to the two, next to her was Rowlet that has the same expression as its trainer. Her cold gaze made them quite nervous even though she didn't look at them.
Trying to break the silent, Hau said. "So~ Allie, we come here because you left before taking the pokedex"
She just nodded, the dark-green-haired boy continued while placing the red device on the table. "Uhm...How are ya and Rowlet doing?"
"Fine..." She said, still not giving an eye on him.
Laura's voice echoed from the kitchen "Sweetie~ Can you give me a hand?"
The white-haired girl finally moving, she went to help her aunt, leaving Lillie and Hau in the living room.
"Geez, it's hard to get close with her" Hau grumbled.
Lillie nodded "Allie seems a little...scary..." Then her face turned into blue when she touched the bag she has always brought with her all the time, which was empty.
"Nebby! She's gone!"
Hau immediately looked at Lillie with a shock expression. "You are not joking right, Lille? How could Neb go anywhere..." The two soon realized that Nebby had used Teleport when she was in the bag before they arrived Allie's house. The conversation also caught the white-haired attention when she came out with the drinks.
Rowlet, who has just woken up from his nap, flying on his cold-red-eyes trainer's head. "You want to help them?" She whispered and the owl nodded.
"N-" Her refusal was interrupted again, this time was her aunt trying to persuade her niece. "Come on AL, why won't you help your friends, they seem to be in trouble?"
"F...riends?" That word sounds weird to her. "Mother said having a friend would badly affect my future"
Laura had a heavy sigh. "Yeah yeah Auria again, remember, we are on a vacation and you are in my house. Just forget her words, at least when you're here, so help them"
"Fine..." The girl went to Lillie's place, her annoyed face made the yellow-haired girl scare a little. Allie tried to make a face as kind as possible, which turned into the opposite due to her red-blood eyes.
"I'll help you" She said.
The two were surprised at her changing. Hau was the first one to talk. "Really? I knew I could rely on ya!"
'Knew...?' Ignoring her discomfort, the girl went out with Lillie and Hau to look for Nebby.
Same time, different place.
Somewhere at Mahalo Trail.
Zein and his pokemon were eating a simple lunch with some berries and two malasadas which they cut into four pieces. Espeon suggested waiting until the afternoon to meet the professor because she thought that is when the white-haired niece will go out, by using telepathy of course.
"Pew, pew!" There were loud pokemon cries coming from far away.
"Noibat! Find the source!" The thief immediately said. Following the bat which were using Supersonic several times. When the squad arrived at Plank Bridge, they found a cloud-shaped pokemon that has cosmic-like palette, it was being attacked by a horde of Spearow.
"Es, Psychic! Noi, Air Slash! Mar, Sucker Punch!" Z commanded. The three successfully take down on three Spearows, but the only one left, which seemed to be their leader, attacking the little pokemon, the black-haired boy quickly ran to the middle of the wooden bridge in order to protect the unknown pokemon.
"Ouch! Noi, Bite!" He said in front of the four, including the cloud-shaped pokemon's shocked eyes. His right hand was heavily bleeding due to the Spearow's sharp beak.
"PEW!"
Before Noibat could use any move to help its trainer, the strange pokemon released a strong energy that blow the bird away. However, it also broke the bridge which they were standing on, Zein and the little pokemon fell down in the deep rift.
'S-Sh-Shit! I have lots of things to do-' Suddenly a flash of yellow appeared on the sky, the thief thought that was his imagination for a second before closing his eyes.
1...2...3...Nothing happened.
"Pew!" The pokemon cried innocently, Zein openned his eyes again. He was ...flying? Landing on the ground, he has finally been able to see his savior.
That is a pokemon, it has black head and body, extending from the top of its head is a large, orange plume with bristles along the back. There is a yellow marking covering the top bristle and half of the bristle below it. The bottom of this crest goes all the way to its neck, where it divides its face in half and creates a beak-like nose. Its eyes are blue with yellow marking behind them. The lower half of its body is orange with four pointed projections, one short spine on the front and two short spines in the back, with one longer spine between them. These spines resemble a bird's tail feathers. Its thin arms have round, yellow structures encircling its shoulders. On each arm is a shell that appears to be half of a bird mask, and its hands end in two large claws to create a beak for the mask.
"Erm..." Zein was as concern as his partners. "Marshaaaw!" Marshadow used Shadow Sneak to quickly went to its friend.
The two Pokemon looked at each other as if they were about to fight.
"Kokooo!" Suddenly Z felt electricity running through the forest that made some area around them glowing the yellow color at the moment that mysterious pokemon cried. Marshadow immediately jumped up to avoid paralysis.
"Pew?" The cloud-shaped pokemon had a confused expression like Espeon and Noibat. "Noinoi" The bat pokemon showed a sigh for it to stay back.
Zein strugglingly stood up, covering his hand which was still bleeding. Before the thief could say anything, the yellow pokemon started attacking.
"Dodge to the right!" He commanded, the ghost/fighting type was able to avoid then revenge with Spectral Thief, the opponent closed its shell to block the attack. The electric type tucked in its wings and charges from a low altitude, that was a super-effective move on fighting type, Brave Bird.
"Poison Jab serveral times!" The two 'payback' with a poison type move. 'It seem to be super-effective, that's mean it has electric/fairy or electric/grass type'
The moment when that pokemon used a powerful Dazzling Gleam, he immediately knew that it has fairy type. "Keep on using Poison Jab, bud!"
"Marshaaaa!"
"Nebby, Nebby~" Hau called out loud, the three had found everywhere in route 1 and near professor Kukui's lab.
"Where could she be?"
Lillie, who seemed to be about to have a heart attack, said in her nervous voice. "W-What i-if they found her..."
"Come on! Be possitive, Lillie, Neb would be find..." Hau encouraged her.
Allie suggested. "Why won't you describe me how does Nebby look? I'll draw and print missing posters for her"
"N-No...I don't want...I can't..." The yellow-haired girl said.
BOOM!
The three heard an explosion coming from deep in the Mahalo Trail. "Isn't that..where the Ruin of Conflict was?" Hau confused.
The Ruin of Conflict, Allie has heard from her aunt who was studying about legendary pokemon before they arrived at Alola. The Ruins of Conflict are where the guardian deity of Melemele Island, Tapu Koko, can be found, but not all the time because this island deity is fickle and just appears in front of people that had caught its curiousity.
She said "It seem dangerous...Let's go back and find professor or aunt Laura"
"But...It look like Nebby's power when he-" Lillie immediately stopped.
'Obviously suspicious...' She thought when her red eyes stared at the girl.
On the other hand, Hau agreed with the yellow hair "Exploring a little bit won't hurt, right?" Then he dragged them into the trail in order to find the source of that noise. It was silent when the three came in, Hau let Popplio out in case of anything happen.
"We are very close to the Ruin of Conflict" Lillie whispered.
"Poppo!"
Suddenly Popplio used Water Gun on the tree, where a bat-like pokemon was observing them, it easily dodged the attack.
"Alright Flastor, you wanna fight it?" Hau asked his partner while Allie pulled out her pokedex.
Noibat, the sound waves pokemon, flying/dragon type.
Fruits are its favorite foods. This gourmet carefully picks out just the ripe ones using its sonar. It flies around in search of fruit to eat. It uses ultrasonic waves to detect which fruits are ripe. Noibat can be found in pitch black caves. They rest in the caves during the day and only leave during the night. From its large ears, it is capable of emitting any kind of wavelength of sound, including ultrasonic waves of up to 200,000 Hertz. It uses these waves to stun large creatures, communicate with other Noibat, and immobilize prey.
'Why a pokemon that usually stay in dark caves like Noibat appeared in a place like here, at noon?' The white-haired girl wondered. Looking at Hau and Flastor (Popplio's nickname), they were struggle in trying to hit the bat, but Noibat just easily avoided all the attacks.
"Stop!" Allie said, catching both Hau's and Noibat's attention, the girl continued. "It is not a wild pokemon"
"How'd you know?" Lillie asked.
"Just look at the way it react when you command, not Popplio's action" Allie pulled out Rowlet's poke ball, her red eyes cautiously stared at the bat "What do you want from us?"
Noibat just made a sign for them to follow it.
In front of the Ruin of Conflict, they saw a black-haired boy sleeping on the ground and an Espeon next to him that was trying to keep his right hand from bleeding too much.
The white-haired girl thought she had just seen his shadow moving, but she immediately denied it.
"Pew!" There was an another pokemon, it happily hugged Lillie, that didn't take Allie much time to realize the strange pokemon is Nebby.
"Nebby! What happened here? And who is this person?" The girl confused.
Even though the gang had a lot of questions, they decided to bring that boy and his pokemon back to professor Kukui's lab.
