His brother in law was walking away, his mask broken. It was not enough, but it was a start for the man's betrayal of his sister, of his niece, Asura's daughter. He could hear her as he fell again, as the darkness closed in around him. But then... things shifted, the world stilled and there was someone very odd looking at him. Asura blinked, as he could think, could breathe? It was... strange as the figure nodded. "Good afternoon mister Asura. I've but recently arrived in this realm and happened to notice your little fight, but did not want to get directly involved."
The figure smiled. "Now, the bad news? Your still dying and bring pulled into Naraka. This little chat just exists in the moment of your death, before you actually die." That was... mildly irritating. "But, as for why I'm doing this? Now, I will freely admit to being a fiend, I buy and sell." A demon? He narrowed his eyes, ready to punch him. "That said, I'm more of a merchant and contractor. And while I do deal in souls..." The smile was wide, it was knowing and it was broken. "I find it suits all involved to let souls go back to the wheel after a while, less hassle that way. But!"
The man winked. "I am not here to buy your soul. No, I happened to be in the area, cosmically speaking, and your take is known to me." The creature chuckles. "As it is, I am offering a simple deal and one that has everyone, or at least the two of us, getting what we want from the deal."
Now that sounded suspicious to him. "And just what are you after demon?"
He wished he could punch the smug asshole in the face. "Well, among my esoteric powers is that of resurrection. And you happen to have a dead wife."
The creature flung himself back, alarm in his eyes... ah, his hand was reaching out to crush the lying shits skull. "Now, regardless if you take my offer or not? I will resurrect Durga. Hells bells, I'll even let her stay in my hidden pocket dimension until it's safe and you rescue your daughter, no questions asked, no strings attached!"
Heh. The demon was afraid he was going to crush him. He would, if he was not dying... and if the demon was not lying. "Very well demon. Do this and I'll listen."
Because if nothing else? He may call himself a demon, but so far... all he had done was make some claims and run his mouth while he was dying. Which yes, he would punch that fucker to death if he was lying, but until then? Well, it was his fellow generals that betrayed the empire, murdered his wife and made his daughter cry. He was willing to give this mildly oily man a chance. One.
It was then that an image appeared, as she shivered, taking a deep breath and looking around wildly. "Asura! What! What is going on!"
The demon noticed something and winced. "I can't keep this moment much longer before the spider notices. I'll fill her in with the details and give you the offer when you get back."
And so he died again, falling into hell, reaching out to his wife...
Five Hundred Years Later
He sat beside his wife... and with his host slumped on the ground, eye blackened from where he had been slugged and knocked onto his ass. "I may have deserved that one."
Durga snorted and swatted his shoulder, something familiar, comforting in a way. "You said you had a business offer for me." Because the demon managed to bring Durga back to life, and had managed to have equipped and trained the local mortals to be able to protect themselves. Which was something of a relief truth be told, as it meant that these mortals would be safe or able to hold out for aid. "I am willing to hear your offer."
The demon sprung back up, grin wide. "So. You are planning on rescuing your daughter and going on a roaring rampage of revenge anyway, no matter what my offer is, correct?" Asura narrowed his eyes... but had to nod, the demon clapping his hands. "Good! So, my offer is this. Just mark them with this before hand," the demon pulled out what appeared to be a stamp, "before you beat them to death. Then I get to harvest their soul. That said, I realize that is just what you would be doing for me, not what I would be doing for you."
He clapped his hands. "So. I have a catalogue of options." And indeed, he took out an actual book that held some things. "Some things for you, some things for your wife, options to help the mortals... there are several things to choose from, but all of them paid for from the sins of the souls of those that betrayed you and hold your daughter captive."
Durga raised a hand. "Dear." He sat up, spine straight, mirroring the demons pose. "While we look through some of our options... you will not kill Yasha before I have a little chat with my brother about his actions." Her smile was as terrifying as it was beautiful. "Now. Vinnoroth. You will be leaving the house. I need to have a long overdue discussion with my husband." Her smile cut deeper than Yasha's blades. "Isn't that right dear?"
He nods, gulping as the demon rushes out... and as Durga pins him to the floor, straddling his hips. "Asura. Tomorrow, you will rescue our daughter. Tonight my husband?" She giggles, as she looks down at him and he is reminded of why he loves her. "Tonight you are doing your best to shatter my hips. And husband?" Her eyes were gleaming. "I know perfectly well you don't need to sleep tonight."
What could a man say to that, but those very simple words that dominate his life, as he reached up, pulling her close and claiming her lips? "Yes dear."
