Viserys Targaryen

The only one of the servants that had stayed loyal and with them was the sorcerer. He had managed, with his mystic arts, to preserve a good deal more of what they possessed. And with his sorcery, his magic imbued steel, he was not forced to selling off bits of his family heritage to keep himself and Danny alive. Which, even if they had been forced from their home ("Your grace, I need to sleep sometime, and given the way they seem to be considering cutting my throat? Might be best if we headed out quietly"), there was hope as they traveled Essos in a wagon of metal.

To be sure, Matthias was... secretive at times and clanked with all the rings of frozen metal that seemed to only ever grow in number. From what Ser Darry had said, whispered to him, one ring was the source of all the others, and between the rings and the book which he guarded jealously? He had asked why, as they wandered. The sorcerer had paused for a moment or two before speaking. "Tell me your grace, why would you guard a dragon egg in your possession? Or a blade of Valyrian steel?"

He had been about to answer power of course, and yet, for all that he seemed close to himself in age, the mage looked at him in the eye and something caused him to quell, to lean back. "Power, is the first thing that would come to mind. And yet, perhaps I should ask of your mothers crown? Of the other heirlooms of your house that will grant little in the way of direct power or prestige, and yet..." There was a sorrow to his tone, and from the corner of his vision he could see Danny peeking in. "Are they not the heirlooms of your house? A connection to your ancestors and those that came before you, connecting you in a great chain as you shall pass them down to your children in the fullness of time?"

The words tore at him, aching and twisting. The mage's eyes softened. "The ring and book are much the same to me. Besides..." There was a gleam of something in his eyes. "Might be able to help things yet. Maybe." The man ran a finger along the spine of his book. "Depends on if I can find the right summoning spells..."

Now, that was both interesting and worrying, with just a dash of irritation. "Should you not have found those by now?"

After all, the mage had possessed the book for at least several years now, and it did not seem to be too large, even as the dark haired man chuckled. "The Infinite Tome is..." The mage looked thoughtful. "Well, the appearance is deceptive. It has as many pages as there are grains of sand on a beach or stalks of grass in the great grass sea. Actually finding something useful requires careful applications of magic and searching for the right sections and then mapping those out completely and then anchoring them..."

The mage lifted his hand and wiggled. "In the end, it is like trying to anchor a sandbar that appears in the sea, reinforcing it so it is not lost with the next tide." There was some honking, golden geese flying and hissing about the cart. "Also yes, I have been focusing on the more useful utility options. Or would you rather NOT have the eggs and geese?"

The rebuke was deserved in a sense, as his cheeks flushed, as he considered that they would not be able to reclaim home, his throne, be safe, with geese made of gold. On the other hand, the magical geese were able to produce a great deal of filled meals. Not to mention the conveniently appearing elks. Because yes, while he would like the men and war beasts (which his court mage was working on), the food and shelter meant that neither he or Danny would be in danger of going hungry. And the coin meant that there was always clothes, and he did not have to sell the heirlooms of his family.

Truth be told... things could be much worse, much worse indeed.

Daenerys Targaryen

She had grown up around the sorcerer. Truth be told, he admitted he was not a typical one, as he was far less obsessed with blood and sacrifice. But, the man was a good man and helped, he was loyal and he stayed even as they had to leave the only home she had ever known. In her dreams, there was no clattering or clanking of rings made into clothing due to how many their were. There was no magical metal wheel house nor the golden geese. No Matthias with his book and blunt way of speaking, with his casual disregard of station (then again, the man could throw lightning).

No, in her dreams it was just her and her brother, the stress and fear causing her brother to lose himself piece by piece, until there was nothing left but a bitter hollow shell that wore his face until he was crowned with gold. Now, her brother remained her brother, at times broody, but still kind in his own tired way. She liked this brother much better. Which is why, when he paused and went stock still, that she knew that there was something... potentially very interesting.

"So, your grace, princess." They were camped in the forest of Qohor. "I finally managed to get a lead on the section of spellbooks related to someone that called themselves the Scalespeaker Shepard. Now, the thing is, they were from Syothos and did not deal with wyverns or dragons, but the great reptiles of that land. As it is, among the first summoning rites I found is for..." He paused. "Basically a god beast. Now, the thing is, unlike the geese? This thing is way to large to do subtle. It would be noticed."

She paused, as he looked at them, as she cocked her head and wondered... would it be cute? "So. I can summon it and we can give it a test, even if it likely is weaker than the real one would have been, but..." He looked at them seriously. "It will likely draw the attention of every power hungry asshole on the continent and a ways beyond, not to mention those that would rather this sort of thing does not happen again. So, as the royals, I leave the choice up to you."

Her brother was glaring at Matthias as he clapped his hands together, and she asked an important question. "Is it pretty?"

Both of the silly boys looked at each other in the eye as they rolled them and sighed. Yet, the sorcerer took his tome and showed them. She nodded. "It is pretty, and so..." She bit her lower lip. "Brother? It would show off your power to have such a mount."

He perked up, even as Matthias gave her an unimpressed stare. Still, as the command was given and a titanic three headed God-Beast roared over the forest... totally worth it. Maybe now that they had something that would step on the bad men, they could go home?
