Author notes: I do not own Chuck. This an AU story(one shot) that makes season 5 of Chuck more bearable. I hope you enjoy it.
It was two weeks since Sarah went missing and now she appeared from nowhere saying she ecaped from captivity. Something was odd but Chuck was happy she was back so it didn't question it too much. But he noticed that her guard was up around him which was weird, but again the two weeks as a hostage couldn't be easy for her. Still Sarah didn't act as herself, so Chuck was alarmed. Then he remebered how Morgon lost his memory, how Sarah forgot Alex and the flash card in Quinn's warehouse. It made sense for him, but what if he was wrong. Chuck decided. He needed to be sure.
Sarah was in the strange house. She had a mission but felt like something was wrong but she didn't question it. The door opened.
"Hey Sarah" said Chuck
"Hey what are you doing?" said Sarah annoyed that Chuck was back. "I need to find those glasses" she thought to herself.
"Oh I got a surprise for you." said Chuck paying attention to her response.
"Really? I can't wait to see it" said Sarah.
Chuck knew in that moment what really happened. Not really knew with 100% certainty but he suspected that Quinn used the corrupted Intersect to erase her memory and brainwashed her.
"I really hoped I was wrong" said Chuck with a sad face.
"Wrong about what?" asked Sarah
"You hate surprises." said Chuck dissapointed by the fact that he was right. Then he continued "What Quinn said to you Sarah?"
She looked shocked for a moment. Her cover was blown. She tried to attack Chuck but someone grabbed her from behind. She knew it was a man but she didn't knew who. But she had a strange feeling. She was familiar with the man. She knew him but from where?She got hit. And she woke up in a cabin. The place was familiar but she didn't knew why. She heard Chuck and another man talking.
"I guess that you are going to brag about being right" Chuck adressed the unknown man
"Nobody is braging here Chuck. I didn't want you to keep this secret. And to be honest I really wanted to be at your wedding. From what I heard it was party to remeber. But it was safer if everyone thought that I was dead so if something like this happened I could come and help you save the day." said the man
The voice was so familiar for Sarah but he could't be. Bartowski killed him.
"I know that, but it wasn't easy, me and Sarah have a no secrets, no lies rule"
"You are a spy, secrets and lies come with the job" said the mysterious man
"You sound like Casey" said Chuck smiling
"I do NOT. Casey knows nothing about how to be a spy. The man shoots first then asks the questions." said the man
Sarah couldn't help but agree with the man. John Casey had a reputation, and not a good one.
"Still mad about it huh?" said Chuck
"Yeah. But I am here to help you and Sarah. And if I get a chance to put Quinn in a grave." said the man
"Ok. What's the plan Bryce?" asked Chuck
"Impossible. Bryce was dead. Chuck killed him." thought Sarah but as she opened the door of cabin she saw him.
"First we need to restore Sarah's memories. Your father created failsafe in the 2.0 and hid it deep in the source code. We can use that failsafe to repair the Intersect and then used it to restore Sarah's memories. It's pretty easy but only 3 people can activate the failsafe. The creator of the Intersect and his children. That means you and your sister are the only people you could use this Intersect function." said Bryce to Chuck then he looked and Sarah and said " Hey Sarah, sorry for the tranq dart. But we needed to make sure Quinn didn't had a tracker on you or something like that"
"What are talking about Bryce? Quinn is my handler. He said that you and Graham were killed by Bartowski. And what about my memories?" said Sarah
"Chuck? Killing a person? Yeah I don't see that happen. Also as for Quinn being your handler, all I can say is that he lied to you and he is a criminal" said Bryce
"Sarah, I don't know what Quinn said to you. Frankly I don't care, because everything was a lie. You uploaded a faulty Intersect, everytime you flashed you lost your memory, Quinn used this to erase your memories." said Chuck
"No, that's not true. You, Bartowski, stole the Intersect!" said Sarah angry
"He didn't stole anything. A criminal cabal known as Fulcrum infriltrated the CIA. I... didn't knew who to trust. They wanted the Intersect. So I went rogue, stole the Intersect and sent it to Chuck. He was civilian and Fulcrum would not expect him to be the Intersect." said Bryce
"Yeah and for the second Intersect I uploaded it when Bryce was dying and you and Casey were being beated by another criminal organization known as The Ring." said Chuck
"And if we are to be honest, Chuck was the best person for the job. No one, and absolutly NO ONE could've handled the Intersect like he did." said Bryce
Sarah was speechless. She knew that Bryce was telling her the truth, but what about being married to Chuck. She was is wife and she couldn't see herself like that so she asked " What about me and Chuck being married? It is a stupid cover."
Chuck smiled while Bryce laughed.
"It started like a cover but you guys are really married. Sarah you love Chuck, and Chuck loves you. There's no cover. I am kinda upset that I couldn't be at your wedding. But Beckman wanted me to keep playing dead." said Bryce
"Sarah you really belived that CIA would ask you marry someone for a mission" asked Chuck
Sarah looked down. He was right, this wasn't CIA normal procedure. She was tricked by Quinn.
"Let's restore your memories and then, see if we can talk with Quinn. Beckman is sending the corrupted Intersect to the cabin so let's get to work." said Bryce as he went inside the cabin.
Sarah stood there, she was ashemed of herself. She was a FAILUARE.
"Sarah this isn't your fault" said Chuck while touching her shoulder.
"I... I should've known that Quinn was lying, my memories were really erased, I lost 5 years. He stole 5 years of my life. And then then he sent me to... kill you" said Sarah while crying
"Quinn brainwashed you. But Bryce thinks that there's a way to restore your memories. So we are getting your memories back. And I love you." said Chuck while smiling at her.
Both Chuck and Sarah went in the cabin it was showtime.

It was dark room. Only the bed where he woke up. He remebered being shot. Then the door opened. Someone tried to enter and Bryce attacked.
Chuck flashed. He avoided Bryce attack. And then said "You should be resting"
"Chuck?" asked Bryce confused.
"Welcome to project LIONHEART Agent Larkin" said Beckman as she entered.
"What's going on?" said Bryce confused.
"After the Intersect 2.0 was compromised, Chuck destroyed it, but not before he uploaded it. He is now going to train to become a spy. As for you were nearly killed but we had someone with the experience coming in to save you." said general Beckman
Bryce looked at Chuck then asked" Who saved me? Chuck's sister? I know she is a doctor but this isn'ther area of expertise."
"We used a Fulcrum agent who turned against them thanks to Chuck. She had the tech that Fulcrum previously used to save you when they thought you were the Intersect." said the general
"Ok so what now general? I'm guessing you want me to train Chuck." said Bryce
"No. For all intents and purposes Bryce Larkin is now officialy declared dead. You are going to hide with the doctor who saved you and protect her and her technology. If Chuck will need your help he will contact you. Nobody outside us four know that you are alive so we need to keep it that way. Until the moment comes and we are going to need agent Larkin back, of course" said the general.
"Who's the doctor?" asked Bryce.
"Hello Bryce" said the woman that just entered the room.
"Jill?" said Bryce surprised.
Present Day
Castle
"Where are Bartowski and Bartowski? What takes them that long? Quinn is still a threat." said Casey annoyed
"Casey you know you can also refer to them by their other names" said Morgan
"Dad I'm sure they will be here soon" said Alex
The monitor from Castle turned on and General Beckman appeared on the screen.
" If Nicholas Quinn wants the Intersect, then he should forget it. He has no chance of getting it. Colonel Casey you have been reinstated. Same thing applies to Agent Grimes."said the general smiling.
"Ma'am what do you? How do you know about Quinn?" asked Casey confused.
"Chuck and I made a contingency plan in case of someone trying to steal the Intersect again when he uploaded 2.0 for the first time. We call it Operation Lionheart." said the general as the screen split into two and Chuck appeared.
"Hey Casey sorry about the surprises but I wanted to stay one step ahead of Quinn. Beckman sent us the corrupted Intersect so I can fix it, and yes I can fix it." said Chuck
"How?" asked Casey
"With help from an old friend. Hello Casey." said Bryce
"Larkin" growled Casey " You can't stay dead can't you?"
"From that comment I think you two aren't friends" said Alex
"Who's the girl?" asked Bryce
"Grimes girlfriend so she's taken Larkin" said Casey happy.
"Morgan Grimes has a girlfriend? How that happened?" asked Bryce
"She's also Casey's daughter, but right now we need to focus Bryce" said Chuck
"I agree with Chuck" said Casey "What's the plan?"
"Me, Sarah and Bryce will repair the Intersect and go after Quinn, while you, Casey and Morgan will meet with an NSA asset that Bryce is supposed to protect." said Chuck
"So I'm doing Larkin's job of babysitting. Who's the asset?" asked Casey
"Colonel you are familiar with the asset already, her name is Jill Roberts" said the general as a photo of Jill appeared on the screen
"Jill Roberts as in Chuck's ex?" asked Morgan
"Yes ,Moron, and besides being Chuck's ex she is also a ex Fulcrum agent." said Casey
"For the last 3 years Dr. Roberts worked for the NSA Operation Lionheart. She's an asset and you will protect her till Agent Larkin can return from hunting Quinn. Understood?" said the general
"Yes ma'am !" said Casey a bit disappointed.
The call ended and then Casey got a message with the location where was supposed to meet Jill.
5 years ago, at Langley
"What do you mean I can't upload the Intersect?" asked Quinn angry
"The Intersect was destroyed. We don't have all the details. And even if we had, Agent Quinn your psych evals don't look good. Without being cleared you can't upload the Intersect." said the CIA Director Graham
"Sir, you have a call from agent Walker" said Graham secretary.
"Excuse me agent Quinn but I have work to do" said the Director as Quinn left the room.
Present day, at Orion's cabin
"Let's repair the Intersect" said Bryce

Author notes: I was always annoyed by the end of the show. I always thought a finale season should use the nostalgia element especially in the last two episodes. Having Sarah nearly killing Chuck made me mad. Sarah was extremely smart so how she got tricked by Quinn. The logic didn't exist.
Having Bryce and Jill coming back in my story is not only for nostalgia. Both will play a major role in the next 2 chapters. I also plan on bringing back other characters.
