AN: Azzy showing that as much as he is a new person, he is still Azazel
Our War continued in the shadows of civilization, the fall of the Olympians lighting a fire under all our collective asses. A Pantheon subsuming and converting another followers was nothing new, hell its what the roman gods were doing for centuries as their Empire expanded. But what God did was different. Unlike the Romans who merely adopted other gods as their own, His church had their worship erased, the believers hunted down and forcibly converted or killed. It was a brutal and efficient way of destroying a faith. Zeus/Jupiter had given Oaths that he would remain out of the war, rendering any blatant aid from them impossible.
As His influence continued to grow us Fallen did our best to hamper their efforts. Our numbers had grown since the start of the War due to many of His angels not handling the deaths of so many of their siblings well. Unfortunately they were mainly 2-6 wing angels, giving us plenty of grunts but not any powerhouses. Which is when I stepped up. I was pretty sure that Kokabiel saw me as his new god upon introducing him and his forces to the Divine Weapons of Supreme Excellent Murder, Armaments of Divine Protection from Good and Evil, and my personal favorite the Sacred Calling Bell of Summoning Lost Souls. Or the DWSEM, ADPGE, and SCBSLS. These were my attempts at mimicking His Sacred Gears, Usually made from the corpse, spirit, or 'donated' body part.
The DWSEM were basically soul bound weapons that enabled the user to use the unique abilities of whatever they were made from. An example was a the Spear of a Thousand Stinging Venomous Barbs, made from the tail of a Manticore it enabled the wielder use a special attack where they stroke with insane speed, injecting their victim with the deadly poison. The ADPGE's were the defensive variants made, such as The Divine Robust Shield of Petrification, my attempts to recreate Aegis, Athena's shield. Lastly were the SCBSLS, which allowed their wielders to summon shades of various monsters that I imbued into the devices.
Truly, my genius was unparalleled.
Penemue also benefited greatly from my research, with me basically recreating stealth suits for her agents in the field, various devices to bypass any attempts to intercept our communications, and general tips and tricks for her to use in setting up her network. I even threw Baraqiel a bone, working with him to essentially turn our home into a venerable fortress city filled with energy shields, anti-summoning measures, and Anti-Air Turrets capable of turning even High class Devils into Slag in a single hit.
Due to basically singlehandedly carrying this war effort on my back with all this shit nobody bothered to stop me as I informed my the other Leaders that I was going to be unreachable for some time and that they needed to spend that time preparing. Sure that they would be fine without me holding their and for at least a century I decided to go Fuck with his Plans.
It wasn't hard to get to Britannia, having passed near the area ages ago. Nor was it a hassle once more donning the guise of a traveler as I entered the boarders of the old Roman Colony. I knew enough of the local Magic that I could pass myself off as a druid, and getting my name out there wasn't that hard to do. What name was I using you might ask? Well none other than Myrddin Emrys, a madman with the gift of prophecy. My reason for doing this was tied into who the current King was, a 'pleasant' chap by the name of Uther.
My plans bore fruit when not even a full year into my act that I was called into his majesty's court and demanded that I tell why his castles kept crumbling around him. The Legend played out as it was meant to, and I was introduced to the Red and White Dragon Emperors while they still lived. The sheer power they radiated was immense, surpassing all but Him in terms of strength. My assistance to the King was not forgotten and I became a member of his court, assisting him in his rise to power, creating Stonehenge as a monument to his brother Aurelius with the help of local Giants, and doing the whole transformation thing to make sure the Golden Boy is born.
After Uther did the whole killing his soon to be wife's husband I was also introduced to someone I had been looking forward to meeting for may years now. Little Morgan was a treat, a precocious thing that believed her status as princess entitled her to whatever she desired, including my teachings. And I was only too happy to oblige. Everything was going so well, and Uther dying leaving me in charge of his kid was the cherry on top. It only took me until I left him with Sir Ector that things immediately went off track.
Waiting for me outside of the Knights property was a woman of otherworldly beauty, quite literally what with her pink eyes and elven ears. It was only when she introduced herself as Merlinus Ambrosius the Enchanter that I realized that I might have been to hasty. It wasn't like I dove headfirst into the role of Merlin, I did my due diligence and searched the lands for a boy born to one parent but found no such child, and slipped into the role under the impression that It was to be like before. I was wrong, and had a very curios Half-Succubus Mage demanding answers as to why her role was usurped. So I told her, not bothering to lie. I informed her of my plan, of what I desired and she agreed to it.
The female Merlin, or Ambrosius became a companion to me in the years that passed as Arthur grew, often taking over teaching him at times for me as I went and continued lessons with the not so little Morgan. As the yeas passed we even managed to create two different forms of magic, Her Formula craft versus my Magecraft. She had the audacity to introduce Math into magic and make it work, while I used my experiance with dozens of magic systems to create something of a catch-all magic system, reliant on the 'Mystery' in the World. Was I blatantly ripping off another worlds work? Yes. Did that stop me? no.
Eventually Arthur was grown and the beginnings of his story were to commence. Caliburn, the sword in the Stone, was something I had created years ago for the purpose of ensuring my charges kingship. It wasn't a holy sword, merely an expertly crafted one infused with Rune to give it Power. As I watched Arthur build his Kingdom over the course of years I remained an ever helpful advisor along with Ambrosius, the two of us guiding the young King into the Idea path.
At some point the Church was brought into the Kingdom, and in an effort to spread Christianity they Sanctified my Blade turning it into the Holy Sword it is today. Not that he used it for much longer, as with the church came Devils seeking to tear down the growing Kingdom. It was this threat in particular that allowed us to convince Arthur to form his Legendary Round Table, and recruit the greatest of knights of the time. Despite the Churches interference we maintained decent relations with the local Fae, mainly the Lady of the Lake Vivian. It was her that Gifted Excalibur and Avalon to the King as a gift of thanks for safeguarding their territory. Of course He decided to interfere having the church take the blade so He could turn it into a Powerful Magic Blade to the Strongest Holy Sword. All that bullshit the Excalibur fragments had were the Fae Magics imbued into the Weapon, He just turned it into a Holy Sword and took credit. Thankfully we managed to convince the King not to let him do the same for his Sheath.
The years passed, and the stories and legends grew of Arthur and his Knights as they fought and slayed monsters and demons alike. Morgan had her 'genius' plan to steal her brothers seed which me and Merlin watched with great amusement. Hell, due to our the positive relationship I had with the Queen I was even allowed to teach her ... daughter. Well she decided to be a he and I had no problem referring to Mordred however they wanted as I taught them like I did both their parents.
They grew and eventually joined their Father and siblings as a Knight of the Round and honestly things were going great. Then I happened. It wasn't hard to fan the flames of hatred that Morgan had for her brother, nor use that to influence her into conspiring against the Crown. Nor was it difficult to help the blossoming relationship between Lancelot and Guinevere grow into something greater. Many of local nobles were also deeply unsatisfied with Arthurs rule, what with his constant war against the Saxons. Arthur not acknowledging Mordred was the final piece of the puzzle as Rebellion soon broke out, and the tragedy that followed. It wasn't hard to take Avalon from the king and blame his Sister, nor to hide away his old sword. And when he finally fought his Son and they killed one another, I only waited until after they were buried to make of with his spear.
Shattering his sword was the last step of my plan, as the Influence that He spent here was wasted, the Legendary King he planned for died as his legend demanded instead of how He wanted. Did I feel bad that I raised the King to be used as a sacrifice against Heaven, a bit yeah. But seeing the rage upon the face of Michael when he appeared to try and salvage the situation was something I will relish.
I had already warned Morgan and Ambrosius to lay low in the aftermath, allowing me to take the Heat from Heaven as they realized I fucked up their perfect Holy City. The following week after The Battle of Camlann was one of the greatest I had in this new life, as I had the pleasure of enduring the brunt of the Heavenly Host's attention for my interference. Michael, Uriel, Sandalphon, and even Selaphiel met me in battle with their flocks and I fought them all to a standstill. Thousands of Doves died in the battle, mowed down by advanced Arcane Spells. From the Primordial Runes taught to me by the All-Father, The Magics of the Fae, to the Flames Stolen for Man I unleashed all I could, in order to do as much damage as I was able.
I only retreated after He stepped onto the battlefield Himself, surrounded by his Sons and Daughters, for once actually showing emotion upon that immovable face of his.
I saw not the Kindness of my Father, the God who loved humanity so much. No I saw only his Wrath, the Angry God who destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, who slaughtered the Egyptians for imprisoning his people.
Maybe it was my blatant prodding, messing with his plan in such a way, or maybe it was the bloody skull of Selaphiel strapped to my waist, having torn it from his neck with my bare hands. I didn't bother finding out as I hightailed it the second he made his presence known, staying just long enough to keep his attention on me and forcing him to give chase over the Seas allowing my Fallen Kin to unleash the Second Half of my Plan.
They would stormed the Gates of Heaven.
AN: So That was Arthurian Myth, and the first major loss Heaven suffered. The consequences of this shall be made known later. Image Index and Build Info have been updated.
