AN: Made this after deciding to change Gadreel's appearance to better fit what I imagine her as.. Ended up redoing a lot of the images. Check the out Image Index for the new Pics.
A Sword Unsheathed
She scanned another report, one of many that she had gone through in the past week. Ever since the Commander fled to the East following Camelot she had been assigned to work under Kokabiel in managing the War effort against Heaven and Hell. They were still getting settled in The Last City, after the Commander bombed their previous home. Not that anyone complained considering he took Raphael off the field for a solid year, as well as destroyed multiple contingents of enemy angels.
It was honesty still amazing that even after all the time she spent learning under him he still managed to completely blindside her. Out of the Commanders personal attendants she was the one that most closely learned under him, spending her free time going over the books he wrote and documents he published on the nature of warfare, various battlefield tactics for both mundane and supernatural combat, and his guides to all manner of foes. That wasn't even mentioning the multiple schematics for weapons that he never got around to making.
It was due to his teachings that they had been so successful in the War so far, bleeding heaven dry of angels despite their much smaller number. She knew that even though HE was able to simply create new angels en mass it wasn't something that he could do effortlessly, and that every bit of focus he spent on keeping heaven stocked up was that much less focusing on their efforts against HIM. Not to mention getting Lucifer to expend more and more resources was always a win in helping secure their position in the Underworld. Penemue had already informed her that he had sent various parties to scout for their new location, though they were largely unsuccessful. He was apparently still raging over being baited into weakening Heaven for them, as well as the fact that they managed to break into the Fifth Heaven, considering he never managed to get past the Second. Still, she made sure to assign a Hunter-Killer squad eliminate the scouts. Best to not leaven things to chance.
Finishing the last of her official duties for the day she made her way to the Commanders lab, eager to try out the new equipment that he designed for her. It was rare for him to make custom orders for any of them, too busy creating equipment for their troops on the front lines than those that usually stay in the Last City. He had sent similar packages to Shamsiel and Zadkiel, though they refused to share what they received until he returned. Entering her area of his lab, she summoned the package he sent her. Opening it, she couldn't help the smile that covered her face at the gift she received. She heard the Commander describe these before, even seen the designs he made then discarded. Looking at the note he left with it, she felt a sudden urge go test it out on something, anything.
Then she remembered the group of Devils in their territory. It might take some quick flying to make it in time to add herself to the group, but she was sure the HK squad would love to have her with them. It would be good to remind her enemies why even the Devils feared her.
Field-Marshal of the Grigori
A Valiant Bulwark
Standing watch over the Smoldering Gate, the entrance to The Last City, was honestly a boring job. Ever since the Boss retreated further East after giving their Father a black eye, she had been spending time under Baraqiel guarding their new city. Not that she needed to be guarding against anything, considering that it was hidden so well even Boss had trouble finding it, and he built the damned place! She mainly took the job in order to be the first one that saw returning Fallen, in the hopes of being the first one to see his return, but now she was honestly regretting it. She would rather deal with Satanael's weird obsession with her than keep guarding the walls, but Zad bribed her to stay in her post. How could she resist all they new Horses being added to her stables?
Not that this job was completely without perks. Earlier she had the pleasure of seeing Gad leading one of her HK groups into the wastes, probably on a Devil Hunt. Ever since she got the Bosses package she just wouldn't stop using it, taking every opportunity to test it out against the enemy. Not that she didn't understand, her own gift had been something truly special.
It had become something of an open secret that she started to collect remnants of Camelot and the Knights of the Round, mainly due to the Boss gifting her Caliburn and Avalon when he returned. So to receive Rhongomyniad, Arthurs Spear and the weapon he used to kill Mordred meant the world to her. She had switched it to her main weapon, keeping the sword as a backup. With the spears ability to fire of city destroying levels of Light, it was probably no wonder that Zad wanted to keep her here, she could hold the gates singlehandedly with just the Spear, much lest the rest of her kit.
And however much she complained, it was heartening to know that her being here helped many of the Fallen inside to feel safe, that she was helping her people even in this way.
Bulwark of the Last City
A Diligent Servant
The work kept piling up. Ever since her Master left for the Land of the Rising Sun, she had taken his place in the R&D department, keeping all the deices and enchantments that he created in working order. If it wasn't for the fact that she was there when most of this stuff was created she would have no idea where to even begin to try repairing things. For every Armament that she fixed three more required urgent attention, for every solution a dozen new problems.
Honestly, if it wasn't for her Master gifting her his Imitation Grail she would be completely swamped with work. It had taken some time, teaching the ghostly apparitions that she summoned to do the job correctly, but in the end it was worth it as it cut her actual workload to a tenth of its previous size. She used the freed time to look over Masters notes, seeing all his plans and ideas and trying to figure out a way to bring them to life in his absence. Some simply weren't viable, because really, how were they supposed to create an orbital laser the size of the moon? Luckily there were actual viable ideas such as his computational device that enabled others to use Formulaic Magic with much less effort, The Fabricator to create mundane materials, and even the recreations of Solomon's Seal, though they were much less effective compared to the original.
She sent her spirits to create the prototype of Gadreel's new toy, trying to replicate the marvel of Enchanting and Magical Engineering. She successfully managed to create a mundane version using the notes he left, but creating anything close to the SG-01 were a fools dream. She managed to make a mass producible variant that was barely a hundredth of the power of the original, an achievement all on its own but they were only useful to their human troops, as most fallen could match and surpass that level of firepower with ease. Honestly, how did her Master do it?
