Frozen belongs to Disney

Chapter 19

Elsa winced as Anna took another crushing hit in the corner. Northeastern had played a gritty, close checking game, one that took time and space away from Arendelle's Ice Wolves. The buzzer sounded for the end of the second period, and Elsa checked her phone for messages. For the first few days after the incident on the roof, Anna had been extremely curious about Elsa's powers. She asked her to create different objects, to which Elsa obliged, and laughed when Elsa chilled a coke bottle for her. For the first week and a half, she repeatedly checked the snowball in her freezer to make sure the whole thing wasn't some kind of dream. After that though, the novelty wore off and things returned to some semblance of normal; after all, it wasn't like Elsa could reveal her powers to anyone else, and there really were limited opportunities where freezing something came in handy. The game resumed, complete with more thumping hits against the boards, audible all the way up from the mezzanine where Elsa watched, and the crowed responded with an 'ooh' sound after an especially vicious one. Having played most of her life, she knew how much of a toll that took over the course of three periods, and now the seconds ticked down on Arendelle. From her vantage point, she thought it might have been possible to make a few plays to try and take advantage of Northeastern's positioning, but it was a lot easier when viewing the ice from above, as opposed to skating and trying to avoid catching a shoulder to the face. Currently down two goals, it wasn't looking good. Their only tally had come from Merida, a garbage second period rebound that had pinballed around several skates to end up on her stick right in front of the goal mouth as she and Jessica whacked at it. Elsa leaned forward as Anna wound up for a one-timer, but the puck skittered into the corner and Elsa sat back as Anna dropped the pieces of her broken stick.

"Bad luck," Elsa thought. Someone had chopped at it earlier in the game, which might have cracked it. The final buzzer sounded, Northeastern celebrated, and both Arendelle and the crowd collected themselves and filed out. Elsa made her way downstairs to the parking lot and waited as the cars filtered out while Anna showered and changed. The redhead, hair still dripping, emerged and didn't notice her at first, then nodded and turned in her direction.

"You okay?" Elsa asked.

Anna let out a pained groan, but smirked as she did so, and Elsa chuckled. The redhead shoved her bag and her one remaining stick into the trunk, tossed in the blade and lower end of the broken shaft, then collapsed into the front seat.

"Sucks," she said as Elsa sat down and closed the driver side door, "I'm going to have to get a new stick now and… ugh."

She leaned forward to put her forehead in the palms of her hands.

"It's okay. They're a really good team, and you're still in the playoffs," Elsa said.

"That would have given us home ice advantage if we play them in the first round," Anna said without looking up. Again, Elsa considered whether she could have made a difference if she were on the ice.

"One step at a time," Elsa said. She started the car and turned away from the traffic jam headed to the campus exit to drive them up to the dorm at the top of the hill.

"I'm wired, do you want to come up for a bit?" Anna asked as they neared the upper parking lot. Elsa suppressed a grin, as if she would ever say no to that. She locked the car, picked up Anna's sticks, and followed her up to her room. Anna left her equipment in the bag and sat at her desk to flip the laptop open. The corner of her lips turned down in a frown as she started queuing up music, and Elsa moved behind her. She hesitated with her hands behind Anna's shoulders.

"It's okay, you can do this," she thought. She started pressing lightly against Anna's neck first, then moved to massage lower, and was rewarded with a deep sigh from Anna as she leaned back. Then it was like a switch flipped, and Anna opened her eyes with a mischievous grin.

"Distraction successful," she said as she stood up and turned around. Elsa found herself stumbling back against the spare bed, Anna's lips pressed against hers as the redhead's hands roamed her back and down to her hips. Elsa hesitated with her hands over Anna's back, desire warring with caution, until Anna ran a hand down her arm and slipped Elsa's hand up her shirt. She broke the kiss to stare into Elsa's eyes, and they captivated her the way they always did. With a reassuring smile, Anna pressed Elsa's palm against her stomach, warm and still slightly damp from the shower.

"It's okay. I trust you," Anna said. The unsaid words lay just beneath the surface: Trust yourself.

Elsa, now holding her breath, managed a small nod, and slipped a second hand beneath the hem of Anna's shirt. She closed her eyes as Anna's lips found hers again, and Elsa tried to focus on her, on how much she'd longed for this, to be able to touch Anna, to caress her, to have every inch of her body and not hold back. She let her hands drift higher; Anna hadn't bothered with a bra after the game, so she slipped her fingers up and over one nipple, and received a hard nibble on her lower lip in response. Then Anna's shirt was up and over her head, and Elsa struggled to keep up as the redhead went after her pants while she had her hands behind her back to unclasp her bra. As the undergarment fell to the floor, Anna's teeth against her inner thigh nearly made her swoon, and the room spun as she leaned back against the bed again. Anna's post-game swishies, off in one fluid motion, meant she had already stripped completely nude while Elsa still had jeans awkwardly around her ankles, and Anna grinned as she helped her out of them. Elsa scooted back on the bed until she was against the wall as her pants fell next to the rest of the clothes on the ground, and Anna joined her on the mattress, crawling up to grind her groin, already warm and wet, against Elsa's thigh.

"I want you inside me," Anna whispered, and the words shot straight to Elsa's core in the form of a throbbing tingling. "I want your fingers inside me."

Elsa hesitated. It was something she would have thought impossible just a few short weeks ago, but there hadn't been any incidents at all since the blizzard on the roof. Anna lay back and spread her knees as best she could on the narrow mattress, open and wanton for her.

"Please, Elsa," she said, and Elsa was helpless to resist. She nodded and shifted to kneel, then used both palms to slide up inner thighs, to the patch of dark red hair, and then to the slick folds.

"Wet because of me, because Anna wants me," Elsa thought. She parted sensitive lips as Anna's breath hitched in anticipation, and let her fingers explore, spreading moisture, finding her clit, already engorged and circled around it a few times, before probing her entrance. Anna nodded to encourage her, and Elsa slipped inside with two fingers, then out again, pressing deeper each time while her other hand focused on Anna's clit, teasing and swirling about. Anna gave out such a sigh of satisfaction and relief that Elsa smiled to herself.

"Oh… please… I've wanted this so bad, you have no idea," she said.

"She loves you, and you know you love her. She knows all your secrets already, so why can't you tell her?" Elsa thought. "Stop, now is not the time to think about this."

With Anna warm and wet and enveloping her fingers, Elsa focused on the task of reading her body, her panting breaths, to bring her to the release she so clearly desperately craved. The cadence her soft sighs slowly grew heavier, then swiftly changed as she approached the edge. Anna lifted one leg to brace on the wall, an effort to give Elsa more space. For some reason, Elsa focused on Anna's stomach as her muscles contracted and she clenched around her fingers. Then it was done and Anna lay back, almost catatonic as Elsa showered kisses across her chest and neck, then leaned forward to press their bodies together. Her girlfriend warm and spent beneath her, Elsa kissed her rosy cheek and nuzzled against her ear.

"I love you," she thought.

"You okay?" she asked.

Anna nodded with a lazy smile.

"Your turn next, just… give me a few minutes," she said without opening her eyes. Elsa rolled off the bed to retrieve a blanket, the purple and blue one Anna had purchased over Halloween, and threw it over the both of them. She snuggled in on the narrow mattress, and Anna's arms found their way around her. Despite her promise, within a few minutes, Anna had passed out completely, and, although still incredibly turned on, Elsa couldn't help but feel pride in herself, both for getting over her hangups and using her fingers to deliver such a satisfying orgasm, and for allowing Anna to get to sleep so soon after a game. She wished she wasn't still wearing her underwear, but now it was too late to remove it without possibly waking Anna up, so she allowed herself to drift and eventually fell asleep in her arms.

The following morning, she left Anna still sleeping on the spare bed and absently wondered if anyone in her first class would notice she was wearing the same shirt as yesterday. In between her first two classes, her phone rang and she glanced down to see Anna's name.

"I'm so, so, sorry. I totally fell asleep on you last night," Anna said.

"Good morning to you, too," Elsa said with a smile.

"I'll make it up to you, I swear," Anna said.

"It's okay. You were obviously tired," Elsa said. "How are you feeling?"

"I feel… good, how about you?" Anna asked.

"Also good. I'll be better when I can see you again. For this weekend, I was thinking maybe a movie and lunch or dinner? I know you like movies," Elsa said.

"Oh…" Anna said, and Elsa's heart sank at the tone of her voice, "about this weekend… I'm going to have to cancel."

Darn.

"Is everything alright?" Elsa asked.

"Yeah… yeah, everything is fine. Something's come up and I wish I didn't have to but… yeah. I'm pretty bummed," Anna replied.

A group of students passed by and Elsa held a finger against her other ear so she could hear Anna better.

"Is it anything I can help with?" she asked, and Anna paused.

"No, I don't think so. It's just some stuff I have to take care of. I'll call you if I get any free time, otherwise I'll see you next week?" Anna said.

"Okay," Elsa replied.

"I love you," she thought.

"Let me know if there's anything I can do," she said.

"Sure. I'll… see you soon," Anna said. Elsa looked down at the phone in her hand. She wouldn't get to see Anna this weekend, and the thought soured her mood for the rest of the morning.

"What might have happened. A problem with her parents maybe?" Elsa thought. Dinner at her house had gone well, but that was weeks ago. Perhaps her father had changed his mind again? All the rest of the day, in classes, back at the hotel to shower and change over lunchtime, and onto campus again for afternoon lectures, Elsa pondered what had caused Anna to suddenly cancel their presumed date. Friday night arrived, and she used the free time to finish a research paper and other various schoolwork. On Saturday, which she had intended to spend with Anna, Elsa flipped channels for a few hours in the morning, but gave up around lunchtime and went to the lobby to eat. Over and over, she mulled the possible reasons why Anna had suddenly cancelled their date. Despite having done so nearly every weekend last semester, sitting alone in her hotel room all afternoon now only fed her frustration, and she decided to go for a drive. Her thoughts continued to swirl on Anna, and as she took various routes, circling around town and back, exploring some of the more winding, country roads, driving nowhere in particular, she passed by a TGI Friday's as twilight turned to dusk.

"Anna works at a Friday's," she thought.

It was nearly dinner time, and Elsa parked, switched off the engine, and walked across the concrete path towards the front door of the restaurant, but her steps stuttered as she saw her. Dressed in the dark outfit and red suspenders of a restaurant waitress, scarlet hair done up in her customary twin braids, smile plastered on her face, Anna took orders from a table near the window.

"Anna is working at Fridays, today," Elsa thought. "That's why she cancelled? Because she wanted to work instead?"

Torn, Elsa watched as Anna shuttled back and forth to the kitchen.

"No, she was definitely disappointed at cancelling. She's working because she has to work. She needs the money… because she broke her stick in the last game?" Elsa thought. "But that's ridiculous, a new shaft is only…"

Elsa looked up at the restaurant again. Anna was nowhere to be found, but Elsa considered going inside and ordering something. She might even leave an extra large tip.

"Anna would be happy to see me, wouldn't she? This could be a way to… no wait, you're about to do something idiotic. She's going to think you're stalking her," Elsa thought. "Which you kind of are, come to think about it. Don't be a freak."

With one last look as Anna walked carefully from the kitchen under the load of a heavy platter of dishes and drinks, Elsa returned to her car and drove away.

"This is ridiculous. She's not spending time with you because she's short of money? Why didn't she say anything?" Elsa thought. Anna had always been independent, but her financial situation, something Elsa could resolve with no inconvenience, had cost them a weekend together. "Less than no inconvenience, since her having to work is what messed things up today."

She mulled what to do, and then an idea struck her. "I'll make it a gift," she thought, "Couples buy each other gifts all the time, right? She won't be able to say no. Just don't say it's because she had to work; that'd be insulting."

Elsa drove off to nearby sporting goods store and entered the brightly lit, high ceilinged structure. Rows upon rows of equipment greeted her, and it took her a few minutes to find the ice hockey section in the warehouse-like store. She settled on a high-end stick, the latest model, an ultralight carbon composite shaft. She braced it on the floor and leaned into it to make sure it was mostly stiff with a little bit of flex, the way Anna liked it. After a few seconds' thought, she added a second, identical shaft, and a blade with the shallow curve Anna favored. She also picked up a pink ribbon near the cashier, to make it official, and walked across the parking lot with a spring in her step and a smile on her face. Back in her room, she tied the ribbon around the sticks and the blade to keep them all together, used a pencil to curl the ends and give it some flair, then stepped back and nodded in satisfaction. She resisted the urge to call Anna up and find out where she was so she could give them to her straight away, and instead waited until Monday. The phone rang only once before Anna picked up.

"Hello?" she said.

"Hi, are you in your room?" Elsa asked.

"I just got out of class," Anna replied. "I'll be there in a few minutes, why?"

"Okay. I have something for you," Elsa said.

"O…kay?" Anna said.

"See you soon," Elsa said, and she hung up. Another student entered the dorm and Elsa followed him in, then waited with her gift in front of Anna's door. When the redhead rounded the corner, she stopped short.

"Wait, what?" she said.

"Surprise," Elsa said as she held out the brand-new shafts and blade. "I know you broke your stick in the last game, and I figured you could use a new one."

Anna's eyes fell on the composite shafts.

"But these… this must be hundreds of dollars, I can't accept this," she said. But her eyes remained on the gifts as one hand stretched out and her fingers lightly brushed the surface of one of the sticks.

"Sure you can, just cut them down, glue the blade in, and tape them up. I even got you a spare just in case you break another one," Elsa said.

"But… I need to prove to my parents I can do it on my own," Anna said quietly. Elsa paused.

"Okay… well… we don't have to tell them. I mean come on; you play a team sport. Nobody does it on their own," Elsa said.

"I…" Anna said. Elsa could tell she really wanted the sticks, but for some strange reason her conscience or stubbornness or whatever was getting in the way.

"Tell you what… you can pay me back by scoring a goal with it in your next game," Elsa said. "That's your fee."

Anna laughed at that.

"Wow, no pressure. Okay, it's a deal. Thank you," Anna said, and she leaned in to kiss Elsa on cheek as she took the sticks and checked their flex against the floor. "Oh my God. I love them, thank you so much."

A smile spread on Elsa's face as Anna's expression transformed into that of a kid on Christmas morning.

"I can't wait to try them out in practice," she said. "I… uhh, come in."

She unlocked her door and ushered Elsa inside. She set the sticks on the spare bed and pulled a pair of textbooks from her oft-repaired backpack to exchange them for a another pair.

"I can't really talk now, just switching books before my next class, but do you want to hang out, tonight? After class? And work… and uh… rehearsal. I have to study but… maybe we can study together?" Anna asked.

That meant Elsa would have to stay on campus for hours after her last class, and eat dinner in the dining hall. Easy choice.

"Sure," she replied.

"Okay… nine o'clock? Meet you downstairs?" Anna asked.

Elsa nodded and stepped back out of the room as Anna bustled towards her.

"Great," the redhead said as she gave her a quick hug. "See you tonight, thanks again!"

That evening, well after nightfall, Elsa waited in the common area of Anna's dorm as students came and went and two played chess at one of the coffee tables. She'd already completed the assignments received during the day, so, backpack on the seat next to her, there was not much to do but watch the door for Anna's arrival. Finally, it swung open and, looking worn out with strands of hair escaping her braids and a pair of notebooks held in her arms, Anna caught her gaze. Elsa immediately smiled and stood up as she waved.

"Sorry I kept you," Anna said.

"It's okay," Elsa said as she followed her to the steps. Anna slipped out of her shoes and set her bag on the floor as she entered her room, and Elsa followed suit.

"Sorry, I know it doesn't make up for bailing on last weekend but-"

"It's okay," Elsa said again.

"I have this exam to study for but I feel like I hardly get to see you anymore and like… yeah," Anna said.

A little bit of heat rose to Elsa's cheeks.

"I missed you too," Elsa said, and she held her breath for a few seconds, then plowed ahead, "I was thinking about you all weekend, actually."

Rather than being endearing, however, the comment only seemed to upset Anna.

"I'm so sorry. I still feel terrible," Anna said with a frown.

"Don't worry about it," Elsa said. Anna bit her lip and nodded.

"Okay, time to pretend to be a model student," the redhead said. She pulled out a textbook and lay down on her bed to start reading, and Elsa mimicked her on the spare bed on the far side of the room. She had already read ahead in her classes though, and reading the same text again quickly grew boring.

"Should I make us some hot chocolate?" Elsa asked, but when she looked over, Anna had passed out with her cheek on the open page of her book.

"She must be exhausted," Elsa thought as she stood up. "And no wonder. Full load of classes, plus travel hockey, practices, and two jobs…"

Her chest ached as she looked down at Anna.

"You have spare time to study, and you don't even need a degree. She wants to be a teacher and she has to score enough goals and has to spend every spare minute working jobs make enough to pay for her education, and still can't afford a new bookbag. Doesn't seem fair at all," Elsa thought.

She carefully slid the textbook out from under Anna, who barely moved, and set it on her desk. She then unfolded a blanket, the blue and purple one, from the foot of the bed and threw it over her.

"And the late nights recently haven't helped," she thought as she recalled their lovemaking, often at her hotel, which sometimes went until two or three in the morning. She brushed a few strands of hair away from Anna's face, lightly freckled, beautiful, serene in much-needed slumber. Almost out of nowhere, tears stung her eyes and her vision blurred. "She works so hard, and you're making it even harder for her."

She blinked and stood upright. It was a crazy idea for sure. Anna would never agree to it.

"Screw it," Elsa thought. "I'm going to do it, and she'll just have to get over it."

She put her shoes back on, picked up her bag, checked to make sure she hadn't left anything behind, then flicked the lights off and set the door to lock when she closed it.

The following morning, Elsa hiked to the university's bursar's office.

"Hi. I'd like to make a payment," she said as she approached the desk.

"Name?" the middle-aged lady with the large glasses and pearl necklace said.

"Anna Christiansen," Elsa said. "I'd like to pay the full outstanding balance for the remainder of the academic year."

The administrator tapped a few strokes on the keyboard.

"She's on an athletic scholarship-"

"Whatever hasn't been offset by the scholarship so far," Elsa said.

Less than twenty minutes, a pair of phone calls and one wire transfer later, Elsa walked out of the office and contemplated whether she should tell Anna, or let it be a surprise. Very quickly, she came to the conclusion that she had to tell her, so she or her parents didn't make a payment they didn't have to. She pulled out her phone and pulled up Anna's number.

"Hello," Anna said. She still sounded half asleep.

"Hey… I wanted to talk to you about something, can we meet?" Elsa asked.

"Hey… oh… oh crap, did I fall asleep? Again?" Anna said.

"Yeah, but it's-"

"Shit. I'm so sorry. And you waited on campus for me last night, shit," Anna said. The sound of some rummaging about came over the line.

"I told you, it's fine. I'm heading up to your dorm now, okay?"

"…okay," Anna said, a note of defeat in her voice.

Elsa had to actively force herself to not skip her way up the hill.

"Just wait until I tell her," she thought. She entered the dormitory as a pair of boys left, probably heading towards the dining hall for breakfast, and made her way up to knock on Anna's door. The redhead still wore the same clothes as the night before, rumpled from having slept in them.

"Morning," Elsa said as she stepped into the room, "feeling better?"

"Much, thanks," Anna said as she opened the curtains to let the winter sunlight stream into the room. "Sorry about last night, I don't know what happened."

"You read for about two minutes and fell asleep," Elsa said. Anna winced.

"You weren't boring, I swear, it was the history," Anna said. Elsa giggled.

"Well, I have good news for you. I just came from the bursar's office, where I paid your tuition for the rest of the semester," Elsa said.

Anna froze.

"You what?" she said.

"I paid your tuition, so now you don't need to work two jobs, and you can get some more rest," Elsa said.

"I… you… I never wanted…"

"I know. It was my idea," Elsa said.

Rather than being happy, though, a crease of worry formed between Anna's eyebrows.

"But what if it changes… I mean… You should have asked me first," Anna said. "You can't just-"

"You would have said no," Elsa said. Anna made a gesture as if to say 'exactly'.

"And? Shouldn't I have that choice?" Anna asked.

"No," Elsa replied. "I thought about it. I'm the one who's been keeping you up at night. I'm the reason why you're sleep deprived and exhausted. I don't want to be the one hurting you… and I have all this money. It's the least I can do."

The bed squeaked as Anna sat down on the edge.

"I can't believe you would do this without at least talking to me first," Anna said. "Don't get me wrong, I'm appreciative, I just…"

Elsa moved to sit next to her.

"It's my money, I can choose what I do with it… and I choose to spend it on this so we could spend more time together," Elsa said. "What good is having it if I can't use it to spend more time with the person I… with you?"

Anna's lower lip quivered and she stared at the floor.

"Is this because you're heading back to Norway this summer?" she asked.

Huh?

"What?" Elsa asked.

"I've been thinking about it for weeks. You're leaving, aren't you. After this semester, you're leaving to take over the company, right?" she said.

Anan looked up at her, exposed and vulnerable.

"I… I don't know. I hadn't thought about it," Elsa said. It was something she would have to do eventually, but sometime in the future. Not this summer.

Anna sniffled and looked back down at the carpet.

"Spring break is soon, and finals are like… seven weeks after that, and then you're gone, aren't you," she said. "Will you even be back next semester? Why would you, if you're busy running a multibillion-dollar company?"

"Is that what's bothering you?" Elsa asked.

Anna nodded.

"That's why I've been trying to spend every spare second with you, before it's too late. Tell me I'm crazy," she said. She looked up at her again, and tears threatened to overflow from her eyes. Elsa moved quickly to envelop her in a tight hug, both to console her and so she wouldn't have to see her cry.

"I promise we'll work it out. I'll buy you a plane ticket so you can visit if I have to," Elsa said. "Or I can visit you. Or both. Whatever. I don't have to take control of the company for years if I don't want to."

"You haven't told her, that's why she's worrying," Elsa thought. "Say it now, or you might ruin everything."

"I love you," Elsa said. The effect was immediate as Anna stiffened in her arms, then held her back.

"Oh. I was so worried," she said.

"I know, I just-"

"It's okay," Anna said as she kissed her. After a breathless few seconds, they broke apart. "Are you sure, you really-"

"Yes," Elsa said as she looked into those beautiful teal eyes, "I love you. We can make plans for the summer. We'll make it work. Money isn't a problem. You can fly to Norway, I'll show you the fjords, and we can do a road trip in the US, too."

"Ooh, can I see the northern lights?" Anna asked.

Elsa paused with her mouth open.

"Err, maybe not in the summer… but next winter break?" she replied.

"Oh yeah, good point," Anna said, then she grew serious.

"I'm still mad at you for not asking me first," she said, "but… thank you. Really. I don't know how I can make it up."

"Just… be yourself, and get some more rest, that's more than enough," Elsa said. Anna smirked.

"I'll cut back on my hours a little bit, but I'm not quitting. No way you're going to turn me into a sugar baby," she said.

Elsa chuckled.

"Whatever you like, and I doubt I could, even if I wanted to," she said.

Anna smiled then, a genuine, excited expression, which suddenly morphed into panic as she glanced at her clock.

"Crap, I have class. Crap, sorry, got to run," she said as she threw books into her bag and crammed her feet into her shoes. Elsa laughed and led the way out the door as Anna hustled off. It was only after she had left that Elsa remembered she also loved playing hockey, especially playing hockey with Anna, and with her reservations about Anna's financial motivations now completely irrelevant, there was nothing stopping her from playing, except herself.

"No time like the present," she thought as she started the hike down to the rink.
