'I can't believe I'm back,' thought Yami.
As he was taking a break from his physical therapy, out of the blue, someone came behind him and knocked him out. When he opened his eyes, he was back in Hirutani's room.
Yami was getting up when he was grabbed by his shirt than none other than Hirutani.
"Well, look whose back. Did ya miss me… son?"
Yami gritted his teeth, "You're not my father, you bastard!"
Hirutani smirked, "Wrong answer."
He let go of Yami's shirt and punched his stomach.
The teen gasped in pain before dropping onto his knees, holding his stomach.
Hirutani grabbed Yami's shirt again, "I have plans and you're going to help me."
"Like… I'll… be helping… you," gasped Yami.
Hirutani smirked, "Oh, but you already are – Chiyo!"
Chiyo stepped out from the shadows, "Is it time?"
Hirutani threw Yami to Chiyo, "You know what to do."
Chiyo smirked and took Yami to another room. He threw the teen to the floor where two other men pinned the teen down.
That's when Chiyo took out a whip, "No more holding back, brat."
As Yami was struggling to get free, he felt a stinging sensation on his back. The teen gritted his teeth, trying to endure the pain as usual, but this time, the pain was much worse and let out a high pitch scream.
It felt like an eternity for Yami, but Chiyo stopped and had the two men chained him up, not allowing his feet to touch the floor.
Yami's eyes were half opened and was breathing heavily.
"Now, now, you don't want to be… asleep when we reunite you with your family, do we?" Chiyo smirked and took out a stun gun. He and the two men used their stun guns at Yami.
-Sapporo, police station-
"What?! He disappeared?!" Raphael said.
"I'm sorry. I just left him for a minute, but when I returned, he was gone!" said a nurse through the phone.
Raphael gritted his teeth, "Have you checked the security cameras?"
"The guards are checking it right now," replied the nurse.
"I'll be there," said Raphael before hanging up. He took a deep breath, "Just our luck."
He ordered his team to head to the hospital before calling his apartment. On the second ring, the phone was picked up, "Hello, Thompson residents."
"Eliza, I need you to stay with Jaden a bit longer," said Raphael.
"Wha – Why? What's wrong? Did something happen?" Eliza asked.
Raphael sighed, "Yami is missing."
Eliza gasped, "Did Hirutani's men found him?"
"I'm not sure. It's a good thing that Yami told me the locations of each hideout," replied Raphael.
"But if it was them, why did they want him back? What is their motive?" Eliza asked.
"No idea. My sister is still in town, so I'll call her and have her watch Jaden tonight. She'll be there in about an hour," said Raphael.
"Alright, what should I tell Jaden?" Eliza asked.
"Let my sister handle it," answered Raphael.
"Very well, good luck," said Eliza before hanging up.
"Sir, Mr. Kaiba is on the phone," said an officer who came into his office.
Raphael cursed silently, "Head to the hospital."
The officer nodded before leaving the room.
Raphael sighed before picking up the phone, "Mr. Kaiba… we have a problem."
Within an hour, Seto and the others were at the main lobby in the hospital. Yugi, Mokuba, Solomon and Yugi's friends arrived at Sapporo not too long ago.
Raphael walked over to him, "Well, it's confirmed that it was one of Hirutani's men that took Yami. The question is which hideout they are using?"
"How many hideouts he has, Chief Thompson?" Seto asked.
"About four. Two near the port and the other two on the outskirts of the city," replied Raphael.
"But why did they kidnap my brother again?" Yugi asked.
Before Raphael replied, an officer ran over to them. He said that they found an envelope with Seto's name on it. He handed the envelope to the blonde officer before walking away.
Joey frowned, "Why does it have Kaiba's name on it?"
"Not sure, but I have a bad feeling about this," said Tea.
Seto opened the envelope and read the letter, but when he finished his face turned pale. He then gritted his teeth, "That bastard…"
Yugi and the others were confused until Yugi took the letter from his cousin's hand.
Mr. Seto Kaiba,
It's been nearly ten years that your cousin went missing.
Well, he wasn't really missing… I just took upon myself to take care of him until the time was right.
Of course, we will return him…for a price…
I want your company.
If you want your cousin back, alive, you comply my demands and don't you dare contact the police. If you do… well, you can say goodbye to your cousin for good.
Meet me near at Ishikari Bay New Port.
Everyone gasped.
"It's a ransom!" Joey said.
"He's been holding Atem as a hostage all these years," said Tristan.
"This is not good," said Tea.
"What do we do, brother?" Mokuba asked.
"Get him back, that's what," replied Seto. He then looked at Solomon, "Grandfather, you and Mokuba stay here."
"But big brother," protested Mokuba.
"I don't want to put you in harm's way, Mokuba," said Seto.
Mokuba sighed, "Alright, but just be careful and save Atem from that creep."
"Don't worry, he'll be back to us in no time," said Joey.
"So, where's the kid, Jaden?" Tristan asked.
"At my place with my sister," replied Raphael. "The kid is worried sick about Yami when he never returned to the apartment."
"I believe he should be here. Mokuba can calm the child down," suggested Solomon.
"Very well – Max!" Raphael said.
An officer came over to them, "Sir?"
"Send the team near to Ishikari Bay New Port," ordered Raphael.
The officer nodded before leaving them.
"So, how do we save Atem?" Tristan asked.
"… I might have an idea," murmured Yugi.
-Ishikari Bay warehouse-
"Sir, Mr. Kaiba is here."
"Bring him in," said Hirutani before taking out a walkie. "Chiyo, wait for my signal."
"Understood," said Chiyo before putting the walkie away. He smirked down at Yami, "I hope you enjoy swimming with the fishes."
Yami was half-conscious and his eyes were half opened. His body was covered in large bruises, his back had deep scars and his throat was sore from all the screaming he did.
"Don't worry, your suffering will end soon," said Chiyo as he sat down on a chair. He was tossing a switch, "It's just a matter of time."
Meanwhile, Seto and a disguise Raphael walked into Hirutani's office while Yugi, Joey and Tristan were at the back of the warehouse.
"This place looks pretty big," said Tristan. "And so far, we haven't seen any back doors."
"I just hope Kaiba can distract Hirutani and his men long enough for us to find and rescue Atem," said Joey.
Yugi was half listening to what his friends were saying, but when he was about to turn the corner, he gasped and hid behind the wall. He turned to his friends, "Guys, over here."
Joey and Tristan ran over to their small friend.
"Did you find something, Yug?" Joey asked.
Yugi didn't say anything, but just pointed his finger at the port. Joey and Tristan looked where Yugi was pointing at and spotted someone sitting at the port.
The three looked at each other before they quietly walked to the port and hid behind a crate.
There was a man with short, spiky black hair sitting on a chair. On the ground, what looked to be an unconscious Yami.
That's when they heard a beeping sound coming from the black-haired man.
"Well, it's been fun, but looks like your usefulness has come to an end."
The three watched as he stopped playing what looked to be a switch and was about to press it when Joey jumped out from their hiding spot.
"Hey! Heads up, you creep!" Joey said.
Chiyo turned around before getting punched, dropping the switch onto the ground. He gritted his teeth, "Why you – you'll pay for that!"
Chiyo took out his gun and was about to fire when Tristan jumped out from the crate and rammed onto Chiyo, causing him to drop the gun as well.
Tristan quickly grabbed the gun before Chiyo could grab it.
Yugi came out behind the crate as well.
Chiyo gritted his teeth before seeing the switch not too far from him. He gave them a vile smile, "You think you won. Sorry, but I'll be the one giving the last laugh!"
The boys were confused on what he meant until Yugi spotted the switch, he dropped, was close to him. With a quick motion, Chiyo picked up the switch and press it.
There was a small explosion in the water and without warning, Yami was pulled into the water. Quickly, Chiyo dived into the water before Joey and Tristan could stop him.
"Yami!" Yugi said.
As the three boys went to the edge of the port, Joey spotted a small key on the ground. Narrowing his eyes, Joey picked up the key and dived after his childhood friend.
"Joey, wait!" Tristan shouted.
In the water, Joey swam as fast as he could to reach Yami.
'I lost you once, I'm not going to lose you again,' thought Joey as he went down to Yami's feet and grabbed the one that was chained to a heavy anchor. He freed his friend, grabbing hold of him and swam up.
Joey coughed up some water as he and Yami resurfaced. He then swam to the side of the port. Quickly, Tristan and Yugi pulled Yami out of the water and placed him down carefully.
While Tristan was pulling Joey out of the water, Yugi looked over at his brother. The small teen noticed that his brother's eyes were slightly open, and he was barely breathing.
"How is he?" Joey asked.
"He's barely breathing," said Yugi in fear.
Joey went over to Yami's side and started to do a few CPR until Yami cough out some water. He was breathing a bit better but was still unconscious.
"Come on, let's get him out of here," said Tristan.
"Right," said Joey as he offered his back.
Tristan and Yugi carefully placed Yami onto Joey's back. That's when the two saw Yami's back was completely covered in scars.
They quickly dashed out from the port and went to the other side of the warehouse where there was an ambulance waiting for them.
Joey placed Yami carefully on the gurney before the paramedics loaded Yami into the ambulance. While Joey and Tristan wait with the police officers, Tea and Yugi rode on the ambulance.
It took about half an hour to reach the hospital where Yami was taken while Yugi and Tea went to where Solomon, Mokuba, Jaden and Sonia were waiting.
"How was he?" Jaden asked, dashing over to Yugi.
The small teen sighed, "His back was covered in deep scars and has dark bruises everywhere."
Jaden's eyes started to tear up and lowered his head.
Yugi placed his hand on top of the brunette's head. The small child looked up to see Yugi giving him a small smile, the same smile that Yami would give to him.
"You said that my brother is a fighter, so he'll pull through."
Jaden widened his eyes before rubbing away his tears. He then nodded, "Yea."
After an hour, John came over to them. He sighed, "Atem has major luck on his side. His back had deep scars, two fractured ribs, a dislocated shoulder, and a broken knee. And it appears that they used stun guns a couple of times on him."
'You call that luck,' thought everyone.
"Can we go see him?" Jaden asked.
John smiled, "Of course. When the others get here, I'll send them up."
Jaden grabbed hold onto Yugi's hand, and they followed the doctor. They went to the third floor and went to Room 302.
There lying on the bed was Yami who had a patched bandage on his cheek, a few light bruises on his face and neck. He had an oxygen mask as well.
"He'll wake up in a day or two," said John before leaving.
"You rescued Yami just in time before they could do anymore damage," said Sonia as she looked over at Yami's injuries.
She, Tea and Solomon were sitting on the couch while Yugi, Mokuba and Jaden were standing by Yami's bed sides.
Yugi frowned, "We made it just in time when this guy, who had a gun, had a switch and pressed it. Whatever he was chained to, pulled Yami into the water."
Tea, Mokuba, Sonia and Solomon gasped.
"That's Chiyo! He's Hirutani's right-hand man," said Jaden, holding onto Yami's hand.
"Well, he escaped but Joey dived in and was able to save Yami just in time," finished Yugi.
Sonia frowned, "That man, he's infamous for his escape acts from the law," she sighed, "That man is too smart to outthink the officers. He's dangerous and loves to kill just for the fun of it."
Yugi and the others looked worried as they all watched Yami sleep in peace. Hopefully, he was free from his nightmare.
