Mustafaru, Japan. July 17th, 2210 09:12 Midoriya Apartment.
As Hisashi Midoriya watched his son bounce around the living room transitioning between human and slime with every bounce, He couldn't help but think about the future. He was a structural engineer, his particular expertise was in material tolerances. In a world where people could blast fire or ice from their hands or devastate the landscape with a punch, it was important to know how much punishment materials and the things that were made of them could take, be it for buildings or support gear.
Since he had graduated from Kyoto university 6 years earlier, his employer, a consulting firm, had loaned him to countless companies across the world. At first, he had mostly worked in Japan working for companies like Detnerat or Yaocorp where he had met Inko Tanaka who after a year he had married.
Nearly a year later they had welcomed Izuku to the world, with a new child came new bills and Hisashi had started accepting larger and longer jobs outside of Japan. Truth be told, the money was great and that was before the bonuses for a job well done. But it meant that he was spending more and more time away from his family. This particular visit was the first time he had been home since Christmas and, as much as he hated to admit it, it was starting to put a strain on his and Inko's marriage. What made things worse, and what currently had him deep in thought was the offer that had been made to him just before he left for Japan,
The manager of his division was retiring and due to a variety of factors he was next in line for the position, this was huge! Not only was the base pay easily in the eight figures, but the various bonuses that could be achieved could also push his earnings into the nine or 10 figures, And that was before the prestige such a position at his age could bring. One of the negatives however was that he would need to be away from Japan a lot more because he would have to oversee the various groups in his division. Sometimes for six to seven months at a time.
What made it harder was the information that his family had received yesterday at Dr. Uzukis's office. Their son had a quirk and what a quirk. Based on what they had heard, he had the potential to be very powerful and a large part of Hisashi wanted to be around to see his son achieve his potential and, if possible, help him along the way. On the other hand, part of him was asking himself what if Izuku's quirk had been much more mundane? A copy of his or Inkos or a weak fusion of both. Or what if he had been quirkless?
Would he be as conflicted? He would have liked to say yes. But the fact that he couldn't say for certain weighed on his heart. Still, he had three weeks before he had to report back to work. Three weeks in which he had to make a decision that would have a profound effect on not only his life, but also that of his wife and son.
Unbeknownst to Hisashi, Inko was having similar thoughts. As she watched her son continue to bounce around happily, her thoughts turned to the past and the future. When she had met Hisashi she was working as a computer programmer for Yaocorp, It had been love at first sight and after a year they had gotten married in a relatively small ceremony and just over nine months later she had given birth to Izuku. When her maternity leave from Yaocorp had run out they had decided that she would stay with Izuku until he was ready for Kindergarten, To make up for the money that she was no longer bringing in Hisashi had started taking More and more international contracts with his firm and Inko couldn't deny that the money he was bringing in more than made up for the loss of her income.
Still sometimes taking care of Izuku by herself started to become a bit too much and while she could always hire a sitter it felt like a crutch. Moreover, since Izuku had started preschool she found herself becoming bored during the hours he was away. To alleviate some of her boredom she has started taking a few freelance programmer jobs. Nothing big or overly complex mostly bots for certain websites and the like, and while that had helped it also made her long for her time at Yaocorp, Hisashi had told her about the job offer he had received from his company and if she was being perfectly honest she was praying to whoever was listening that he decided to turn the offer down. His being away for months at a time was a bit much, His being away for most of the year would be just short of unbearable! She had offered him her opinion on the matter but ultimately it was his decision. And for the sake of their family, she hoped he would make the right decision.
Mustafaru, Japan. July 18th, 2210 10:30 Biss Preschool
Izuku stood nervously in front of his class. When he had returned to school this morning, he had announced to the class That he had gotten his quirk. The teachers had said that he could show it during the show and tell and now here he stood. At his request, the teachers had brought in a large fish tank and an old chair. Taking a deep breath and remembering his Mommy's advice on what to do if you were scared in front of people he put their presence out of his mind as best he could. His nerves settled, Izuku jumped up transforming into his slime form. If he could hear them he would have heard the boys say awesome and the girls coo at how cute he was. Continuing to hop about he kept switching between human and slime changing with every bounce., making his way to the fish tank before making one final bounce towards the tank and transforming into the shrimp hitting the water with a plop. Though it was muted a bit by the water he could hear the calls of gross by most of the girls and Awesome by most of the boys. Swimming to the top of the tank he jumped out one more time transforming back into a slime before landing on the chair. Once his body hit the object he spread himself over it before he absorbed it into himself to the amazement of the room. Finally, he turned back into a human, switching between a variety of outfits he had absorbed before settling on the shorts and pullovers that the other kids were wearing.
The room was silent before Kachan spoke up and said "that was awesome!" With the silence broken the other kids in the class followed suit with various words of praise. After a moment the male teacher spoke up, "That was amazing Midoriya, What is your quirk called?" Izuku looked at the man before saying "My Doctor called it 'Adaptive Slime' She says it allows me to absorb things in my slime form and transform into them" Izuku knew there was more to it than that but he couldn't explain the concepts so he stuck to the stuff he could explain. His mommy and daddy had told him to not tell anybody about Great Sage so he didn't mention it either. "The doctor says certain things I can add to myself, I don't know what she means by that but she says I'll learn as I grow up" The female teacher looked at him for a moment before she said. "That's wonderful Midoriya, I'm sure you will be a great hero one day with a quirk like that." Izuku smiled at the praise he received "Thank you sensei"
Later after nap time, Izuku's classmates including Bakugo tried to get him to absorb different things to see what they would do to him but he had to say "I'm sorry but my mommy, daddy, and the doctor made me promise not to unless one of them were around" This was met with cries of "lame" or "cmon" by the group of preschoolers but ultimately they backed off, Izuku was glad for this as his resolve had been starting to crack just a bit under peer pressure.
When his mommy picked him up that afternoon she asked "How was your day Izuku?" Izuku happily replied, " It was great, I got to show off my quirk and the teacher said I would be a great hero one day!" Inko looked at her son and said "That's great honey, but remember it's not the quirk that makes someone a great hero it is the person." Izuku looked up at his mom and tried to digest what she said,
After a few minutes of silence as they walked back to their apartment, Izuku replied " Then why do people on tv always talk about powerful heroes like All Might and Endeavor?" Inko took a moment to try to come up with an explanation that a four-year-old could understand before she spoke "Because the world isn't fair Izuku." At his surprised look she frowned a moment before continuing. "I'm sorry to tell you this but it's the truth. The people who make those tv shows want to make money and to do that they need to entertain people so they focus on quirks that are big and flashy and heroes with big personas, and try to downplay quirks that aren't flashy, useful, or of the wrong type." At this Izuku interrupted "Wrong type?"
Inko looked at her son for a few moments as she tried to find the right words., "Honey there are some people out there that believe that certain types of quirks are wrong or evil. Sometimes it is because of bad things people with similar quirks have done in the past. Or because of how certain quirks make the user appear." Izuku processed this for a little bit before he spoke "but but that's not fair!" Inko smiled at her child's reaction before replying, " your right honey it's not fair people shouldn't be judged by their quirk or appearance they should be judged by their actions. There is an old verse that says you shall know them by their fruits, Every good tree bears good fruit but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree can not bear good fruit. That means looking at what a person says and what they do. If they don't match up there is something wrong and you need to be careful around them." Izuku thought about that for a moment before he looked at Inko and chirped "Okay mommy!" With nothing else to be said the two continued on their way home.
New York, New York, American Federation August 3rd, 2210 9:00 am Geano Consultation American Headquarters
Hisashi stood in the office of the boss of his boss, the director of the company's day-to-day global operations. It was the type of office you would expect of someone at that level, a mix of official documents and paraphernalia of the occupants' hobbies, in this case, it was boxing Seated before he was his direct boss, Akira Sato, and the owner of the office Abeba Tesfaye. There was an awkward silence before Tesfaye spoke the last remnants of an accent in her voice "Good morning Mr. Midoriya Please have a seat" Hisashi took the offered seat quickly before she continued "I have been informed by Mr. Sato and his superior that you have been offered his position as director of the Pan Asian division." she smiled "That would be quite the feather in your cap for someone your age. I was also told you wanted to think about it while you were on leave so tell us what have you decided"
Hisashi looked at his two superiors and quickly ordered his thoughts. Over the last three weeks, he and Inko had had many conversations about this. Many of them had gone for hours as they talked about the pros and cons of each possible choice and even up to the day before he had returned to work the debate had continued. What he was about to say would have far-reaching consequences not only for him but for Inko and Izuku. Taking a deep breath he said
"Ms. Tesfaye, Mr. Sato, I've thought about the offer for the last three weeks and I talked about it with my wife and I'm sorry but I must turn down the offer. It is a very attractive offer and a part of me would love to accept it but I've come to realize that I am missing my son growing up He just got his quirk and I want nothing more than to help him develop it in any way I can, but I can't do that if I am gone most of the year traveling all over Asia'' So with that in mind I would like to ask to you allow me to return to doing contracts that are in Japan only. I realize that it is a lot to ask considering that I just turned down your generous offer but I feel I have to ask."
Finally finished he focused back on his superiors and was greeted with looks of mild shock. In Tesfaye's case, her hair had turned an electric yellow. After a few moments, Tesfaye recovered her hair returning to its normal black color before saying, "What you've said has come as a bit of shock to us Mr. Midoriya, I believe that I and Mr Sato have things to discuss regarding your decision and request."At this, she looked at Mr. Sato before continuing. "If you will give us a few minutes to discuss this we will have an answer for you." Taking the request for the order, Hisashi quickly walked out of the office.
Nearly 30 minutes later Mr. Sato poked his head out of the office and told him to come back in. After Hisashi was once again seated it was Mr. Sato who spoke for the pair. "Midoriya, Since you joined my division you have done excellent work, No matter what I have asked of you you have delivered which was why I was offering you the position despite your age and time with the company. But I can't say that I don't understand where you are coming from. Back when I was your age I had to make a decision like this and I went the other way. I have been very successful for many years but sometimes I wonder what life would have been like if I had gone the other way." Shaking his head away as if to cast away a bad thought he continued "to that end we have decided upon the conclusion of the current job you will be transferred back to the Japanese office and only assigned to contracts in the country," Left unsaid but understood was the fact that sticking purely to japan would limit how much money Hisashi would be able to make sticking purely to Japan, but he and Inko had discussed that at length and had plans in place to deal with it. Hisashi was pulled out of his thoughts by what Sato said next. " With that being said we would like you to now and again deal with some of our clients in the Taiwanese Union. You built up a lot of goodwill during your time with them and they seem adamant about keeping you as their point of contact" This caused Hisashi to raise an eyebrow, he had known that he had done a good job with the companies he had worked within the Taiwanese mainland but he hadn't realized he had done such a good job that they wanted him to stick around, but as he thought about it felt like this was something he could agree to. Most of the time when he had to return to those companies it only took a few days. He quickly responded, "Yes sir, I believe I can do that". At that Tesfaye said "Wonderful, Mr. Midoriya it has been nice to meet you, I hope to continue to hear stories of your good work and I hope that your son grows into the type of man you can be proud of. " Hisashi responded with a smile and said "Thank you, ma'am, I'm sure however he develops I will be proud of him." With the niceties out of the way Hisashi said his goodbyes and took his leave. He had work to do and plans to make.
Mustafaru, Japan. September 2nd, 2210 09:27 Biss Preschool
"FREAK" The word cut through Izuku like a hot knife through butter. School had resumed for only 2 days and while his classmates from before vacation had been happy to see him as a new kid, a boy named Daisuke who saved for a red streak through his hair looked almost prototypically Japanese. Who had looked at him and a few others a bit funny yesterday when the teachers had asked the class to describe their quirks. Tears in his eyes, Izuku could only ask "W-what". The boy, with a mean look on his face, responded at full volume.
"My Mommy says that mutants like you are unnatural freaks, that your existence is an abomination, that everything like you should be ki-"
Whatever the boy was going to say next was cut off as Kachan ran up to Daisuke and open palmed slapped him across the face. The faint sounds of popping indicated that he had used his quirk at the point of contact, the angry red welt on the boy's skin seemed to prove the same. As the teachers finally made their way to the group Kachan yelled out to the boy "Your mommy's a bitch!" to the collective gasp of the entire classroom. As the teachers worked to separate the kids, trying to prevent Daisuke from retaliating. Izuku, still in a bit of a shock, looked at his friend and smiled a little.
Mustafaru, Japan. September 2nd, 2210 15:30 Biss Preschool, Headmistress office
It was at the end of the school day that 4 adults and 3 kids were gathered into the cramped quarters of Headmistress Ono The normally kindly old woman had a distinctly unhappy look upon her face, as she spoke she did so in cold clipped tones that none of the three boys had ever heard her use before. "So let me make sure I have the order of events correctly Mrs. Saito, " as she looked at the woman who, like her son, had a red streak in her hair. "After school yesterday Daisuke told you about his classmates and the quirks of those who had manifested them. You then treated your son to a diatribe on mutant quirks and the right of those who have them to exist. Your son "she looked at Daisuke" upon his return to school today repeated your words to his classmates, particularly Izuku Midoriya" she continued as she looked at him for a moment her features softening before they hardened again " It was at this point that young Bakugo in defense of his friend struck your son with an open palm with his quirk active. At which. Bakugo used strong language regarding you. Have I described the series of events correctly" At this Saito and the three boys nodded. "Good Now under normal circumstances if the boys were any older what happened today would have serious consequences that might see one or both boys punished harshly. However taking into account the age of the boys, the fact that this is the first offense for both of them, and in one case the undue influence of a parent, I am willing to let Daisuke and Katsuki off with a stern warning and a weeks suspension, At this Mitsuki Bakugo wanted to say something but in an out of character show of restraint held her tongue.
Mrs. Saito on the other hand had no such restraint. "A WEEK SUSPENSION? FOR WHAT? FOR TELLING THAT UNNATURAL LITTLE FREAK" she pointed at Izuku "WHAT HE IS" at this point anybody who was paying attention noticed that every loose object in the room started to vibrate just a little, Mitsuki noticed and was first to react "Hey now there's no nee" what she was going to say next was interrupted by Sato's bellowing. "AND YOU, YOUR LITTLE THUG BASTARD COULD HAVE HURT MY BABY!"
At this point, everybody in the office except Saito was well aware of the vibrations of the objects in the room and what that meant. The only thing that kept the four occupants of the room from freaking out was the fact that they knew it wasn't directed at them. Still Headmistress Ono couldn't have parents attacking each other, especially in front of their children so in an instant her normally blackish-brown eyes flared blue and the temperature in the room took a sharp dip drawing everybody's attention. "I'm sorry but did you just refer to one of my students as a freak and another as a thug and a bastard? I'm sure I'm misheard because when you signed the paperwork to enroll Daisuke in my school part of it included a strict code of conduct not for Students but the parents as well while they are on campus" as she said this she smiled… a smile that all the adults in the room saw didn't reach her icy blue eyes. Mrs. Saito could only go pale for a moment before uttering "Y-yes I'm sorry for the misunderstanding."
Almost in an instant, the room temperature returned to normal and Headmistress Ono's eyes returned to normal color. "Wonderful, Now as I was saying A stern warning, a week's suspension, and a page from Daisuke about why such language is unacceptable, You are of course free to help him with it." Turning to Katsuki she said "likewise I am adding the same addition to your punishment but you will write a page about why using violence shouldn't be the first resort to deal with one's problems. Both of these will be due upon your return to school next Tuesday. Now Mr. Saito" drawled Ono as she looked at the boy "I believe you have something to say to Mr. Midoriya" Daisuke looked at the green-haired boy before mumbling out something that sounded like "I'm sorry" Every adult in the room knew it was insincere as hell but knew it was likely the best they were going to get. "That will do for now," said Headmistress Ono cooly "But I expect you to take this next week if who you have shown yourself to be today is who you want to be young man" Nobody in the room missed the fact that she had not required Katsuki to say sorry and nobody in the room had the reason or testicular fortitude to say anything about it. With the business concluded the Saito's said their goodbyes and left followed by the Midoriyas and the Bakugous.
Outside the school, Mitsuki and Inko stopped to visit with each other for a moment. While Izuku and Katsuki talked "Thanks kachan for helping me with that meanie, I'm sorry you got in trouble." Katsuki adopted a big smile before responding No problem! Nobody gets to mess with you beside me! Anybody tries and I'll blast them" As he said this he made a series of mini pops in his right hand. Izuku grinned at his friend's words and knew that despite them the boy had his back. Anything else that would be said was interrupted by Mitsuki yelling for Katsuki to come on and that they would see each other on Saturday when the Bakugous would come to visit.
Mustafaru, Japan, November 3rd 09:30 Dagobah Beach
The three Midoriyas stood in front of what could charitably be called a lovely oceanside beachfront DUMP, As far as the eye could see there was garbage of all sorts from common everyday refuse to large scale appliances, Inko was fairly certain she had seen something that looked like an old truck in there. A lot of research had gone into finding a place for Izuku to work on his quirk particularly his ability to absorb things and turn them into energy and because Dagobah beach was an unofficial dumping site there was no middle man to talk to regarding allowing Izuku to use the site. It also helped that it wasn't too far from the Midroiyas apartment. Hisashi and Inko knew that eventually, they would use this place up but for now, it was perfect.
Hisashi looked down at Izuku and said "buddy, can you call up Great Sage, we need to talk to it for a moment." Izuku did not respond immediately but when he did it was not with his voice. "Greetings Hisashi Midoriya how can I help you" Hisashi Shivered a little bit, Great Sage had not said much since the visit to the doctor back in June so he still hadn't gotten used to the unnatural voice coming from his son, Looking to Inko he saw that she felt the same way. But despite that, he moved on. " Great Sage we are getting ready to work with Izuku on his quirk can you help him with 'Predator'" Great Sage was quick to respond "Affirmative I will assist Izuku Midoriya with his task of absorbing the resources present in the area, He need only think of me and of what he wishes to absorb." Speaking for both of them Inko said: "Thank you Great Sage" She couldn't be if Great Sage heard her because the next instant Izuku was back in control as evidenced by his excited bouncing. Not skipping a beat she asked, "Are you ready Honey did Great Sage tell you what you need need to do" Izuku happily chirped, "Yes mommy, just think about 'predator' and what I want to absorb" Inko beamed at her son "that's very good why don't you try that small pile over there." pointing to a pile of scrap metal and electronics roughly the same height as Izuku, Izuku looked at the pile and put a visible look of concentration on his face.
To the awe of his parents, he exploded into a gelatinous ooze that quickly covered and then constricted on the pile before shrinking and reforming into his slime form, He quickly transitioned back into human form before shouting "MOMMY, DADDY I DID IT!" Inko and Hisashi knelt and hugged Izuku, cries of "congratulations honey and good work buddy'' echoed throughout the dumpsite. After everybody had calmed down, Hisashi asked the obvious question. " Do you feel any different kiddo?" Izuku focused inward for a moment and felt something. In his mind's eye, it looked like a flame but it was tiny and weak. Returning his focus outward he answered his dad's question. "I feel something daddy but it's very small" Hisashi considered this for a moment. "Okay, why don't you try some larger piles but stay where we can see you? '' Izuku Nodded quickly before transforming back into a slime bouncing up to a pile and getting to work.
Mustafaru, Japan, November 3rd 11:30 Dagobah Beach
It had been a productive couple of hours for Izuku, Since he had gotten started he had managed to clear several hundred feet of junk and the flame within him had grown considerably now resembling a campfire, He was about to start on a new pile when Inko called out, " Izuku, Honey This is the last one before its time to go home, okay." Izuku turned to his mom and responded "Okay mommy" With the instruction that the next pile was to be the last for today, Izuku changed targets, picking a pile that was quite a bit larger than the one he had been preparing to absorb earlier. As he expanded to cover the refuse, nobody understood the effect that innocent decision would have.
By the standards of her humans, she was called Daisy, they said that she was all an Abyssinian, but she knew what she was, she was a cat, As far back as she could remember she had been with her humans a pack or whatever humans called groups of themselves, she had watched as the pack had grown from the male and female humans to include several mini-humans… then it had happened, One night her humans home had been invaded by another uninvited human, She had watched as the strange human had killed her humans all of them, she had attempted to attack the invader and had managed to scratch one of its eyes but it had been for nothing. Almost as soon as she had made contact with the human, the monster that had killed her pack had grabbed her and tossed her to the ground. It had been about to kill her for her attack when more humans entered the building. All of them dressed the same.
Daisy hadn't been sure what they had done but suddenly the invader screamed out in pain before collapsing. This had scared Daisy and she had run out of her pack home before any of the other strangers could stop her. That had been a great deal of time ago nearly 30 cycles of light and dark. She had eventually made it to an area that reminded her of her litter box back home and was filled with all sorts of things to explore and eat even if the water had tasted bad. Then 3 cycles ago she had been chasing a particularly large rodent around one of the particularly large piles of human things when she had knocked something over and before she could react a part of the pile had fallen on top of her.
What's more, she had felt something enter her causing her more pain than she had ever experienced. For two cycles she had tried to free herself, to call for help but her cries had either gone unheard or ignored, On this third day she lay tired her calls almost imperceptible, her vision starting to darken, she could barely see the bug that had made its way onto one of her paws. She missed her humans! She missed her home! She wanted them back! As she lay there drowning in her anguish she only just noticed the green ooze surrounding her and the objects keeping her trapped. As the ooze covered her she gave one last thought to her family before she knew no more.
Izuku's first realization that something had gone wrong was when he was suddenly bombarded with fear, anger, and sadness that was not his own and visions of a scary-looking man doing horrible things. He was so caught up in it that he didn't hear Great Sage's announcements
"ANALYSIS COMPLETE. SKILL 'ENHANCED AGILITY' ACQUIRED.
SKILL 'ENHANCED FLEXIBILITY' ACQUIRED.
SKILL ' SUPER JUMP' ACQUIRED.
SKILL 'MIMIC CAT' ACQUIRED.
SKILL 'MIMIC FROGHOPPER' ACQUIRED."
The first indication to Inko and Hisashi that something had gone wrong was after absorbing the last pile Izuku quickly reformed back into a human and cried out "MOMMY, DADDY '' quicker than thought the two adults made their way to their son. When they got to him they were shocked to see tears running down his face but couldn't find a sign of injury on him. Inko was the first to speak up. "What happened sweetie, are you okay?" Izuku turned to her and cried "Th-the-there was a k-kitty and a bug in that pile! It-it was hurt badly and I saw a s-scary man. I felt scared, sad, and angry but I didn't know why!" As Inko worked to comfort her son Hisashi thought about what had just happened from what he could surmise with certain animals Izuku might feel what they were feeling and thinking about at the time of absorption, It seemed to apply to so-called higher creatures like cats but not to animals like the Mantis shrimp and whatever bug Izuku had absorbed. They would need to take Izuku back to Dr. Uzuki for some counseling and for a new plan as to how to deal with Izuku absorbing living creatures. But for now, he would do what he could to distract Izuku from the cat.
"Hey, buddy you said you absorbed a bug. Do you know what type?" Izuku scrunched his face up for a moment as he tried to recall what Great Sage had said. "I-i think it said Froghopper." Hisashi pulled out his phone and typed in the name. After a few moments, he whistled. The top link had been a list of animals with the greatest jumping power and the frog hopper had ranked second on that particular list. Playing a hunch, Hisashi asked, "What did you get from the froghopper?" Izuku once again scrunched up his face in thought trying to remember. "I think it said 'Super Jump' and 'Mimic Froghopper'." Hisashi, seeing that his distraction seemed to be working, continued "Would you like to try them out before we head home?" Izuku, now sufficiently distracted, nodded before focusing for a few moments before he appeared to collapse in on himself leaving behind a bright green insect who stood out on the sand of the beach. Hisashi and Inko independently of each other wondered where the rest of Izuku's mass went, any further thoughts on the matter were interrupted by Izuku swiftly transforming back into a human before shuddering "Daddy. I don't think I like turning into bugs" he said as he cringed,
Hisashi chuckled good-naturedly, "That's fine Izuku. Just because you can transform into a bug doesn't mean you have to." Izuku simply nodded at this before he said. "Can I try the super jump now!" Inko, glad to see that for the moment Izuku wasn't thinking about the cat nodded and replied "Go ahead just be careful and aim towards the water." Izuku, excited to try out his new ability, stood facing the water crouched down, and focused as much as possible on jumping as high as possible.
This would turn out to be a mistake. What none of them had taken into consideration was the energy Izuku had gained from absorbing the piles of refuse for several hours. When Izuku activated his ability he had put all of that power into the jump, and while the amount of power wasn't all that much it was more than enough to launch him nearly 100 feet into the air. What was worse was that he had jumped at a slight angle so as he began his screaming descent Izuku noticed that he was going to fall into the water. He could see his parents doing something but swiftly became more preoccupied with himself. At around 75 feet he started to scream.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
A few moments later Izuku hit the water. The shock of the impact knocked him out of his human form. Izuku then made the horrible realization that slimes couldn't swim. If he had been thinking properly he would have tried switching back into a human and attempting to swim or turn into a mantis shrimp. But fear and panic clouded his thoughts. Still, as he hit the ocean floor he started to try to figure out how to get out of the situation. Almost instantly he remembered one of those old American anime his daddy had shown him. And how the characters had manipulated their bodies in all sorts of ways. Remembering one particular scene, Izuku activated a predator and started sucking in the water around him. Soon he had absorbed a massive amount of water growing several dozen times his normal size before he shrank back to normal and tried to expel it. Almost instantly he was off like a shot. He barely noticed Great Sage speaking
"SKILL 'HYDRAULIC PROPULSION' ACQUIRED
However, Izuku realized that he was going in the wrong direction. Trying to think quickly he tried to move his body and quickly discovered that certain movements caused him to move left or right and up and down. After a few moments of practice, Izuku figured out how to turn and zoomed back towards the beach. Once again he heard Great Sage speak.
"SKILL 'WATER CURRENT CONTROL' ACQUIRED"
As he got closer to the coast he rose above the water blasting past his frantic parents. Unfortunately, Izuku realized he didn't know how to stop himself; he had cut off the water flow but it did nothing to stop his forward momentum; he crashed face-first into the beach. Leaving a 4-foot-long ditch. 'Pain Resistance' kept him from feeling pain for the most part but the impact had been very unpleasant. Izuku had only just been able to resume human form when his parents, soaked from jumping into the water, made it to him. Hisashi was the first to voice his concern.
"Izuku are you okay? Can you tell us what happened?" Izuku then started telling them about what had happened from his perspective, Hisashi couldn't help but chuckle at what had inspired Izuku to do what he did to escape the water. But as Izuku finished telling them what had happened, Hisashi only had one thing to say. "I think we need to make an appointment to see Dr. Uzuki soon let's hold off on any more training until then." A quick look at Inko showed that she agreed Izuku looked like he wanted to say something but thought better of it and with a small whine in his voice said "Okay." Starting to shiver in the cool November air the adult Midoriyas and Izuku beat a hasty retreat home.
Mustafaru, Japan. March 15th, 2211 15:30 Mustafar Quirk Training Center
As the Todoroki family walked into the training center Enji Todoroki could only barely hide his disgust All around him were testaments to mediocrity kids whose tenth-rate quirks would barely make them suitable sidekicks to seventh-rate heroes yet here they were practicing like it would mean a damn thing. What was worse was that he had to let Fuyumi take precious time from her real training to make an appearance here. Natsuo and Shoto's were no big losses. their ice quirks while useful enough were nowhere near powerful enough to fulfill his ambitions. That said both had expressed interest in medicine and he could see their quirks being useful in that field. Still, he hated coming here. It was only the advice of his public relations manager who told him that it would look good for his image, and Rei currently standing beside him who had told him that the kids NEEDED socialization if he didn't want them to grow up without the social skills that anyone let alone a hero needed.
They had been here an hour and while Natsuo was working on ice generation with one of the consoles and Shoto was working on creating cold compresses on dummies, Fuyumi was working on target practice. While she had yet to display the kind of power he would have liked she had control and precision in spades through rigorous practice during the last year she had learned how to create small but accurate balls of fire and knives of ice and toss them at targets with a high degree of accuracy the ice knives lacked much in the way of stopping power currently but even he had to admit that it was because of her age and lack of training in such things at the moment.
Any other musings he might have had on the situation were halted as the automatic doors at the entrance to the facility opened revealing a small child obscured by the light of the day. Once the child painfully slowly entered the building the first thing he heard was Reis' almost silent "Oh my God," The child who didn't look to be much older than Fuyumi was a mess of bruises, some fresh, some not. On every part of the body, he could see that wasn't covered by her sweater or skirt was some form of injury. Once again his thoughts were interrupted by one of the staff members, a man with a cat tail and ears shouting "SOMEONE CALL THE DOCTOR NYOW!"
Sakura Uzuki sat at the desk that she shared with every doctor who cycled through the complex, she was currently going over some notes from her recent appointment with Izuku There had been an emergency appointment back in November, there had been a few incidents during some training he had done with his parents and they had brought him in both to make sure he was physically and mentally fine. Particularly because he had absorbed a cat and had gotten some visions of its life. She couldn't help but wonder why such a thing had happened with the cat and not with the mantis shrimp or the froghopper he had absorbed at the same time as the cat. She had some theories but with only two points of data, she didn't want to waste too much brainpower on any one of them. Still, the appointment she had had with him last week had shown that he seemed to be recovering nicely from the visions he had seen though he did seem a bit more contemplative than when they had first met. It may have been a reaction to what he had unintentionally done. Time would tell if it was a permanent change or not.
Her musings were interrupted by the door to her office slamming open and a young female staff member coming in and shouting "DOCTOR COME QUICK THERE'S A BADLY INJURED CHILD!" As her body moved on, autopilot Sakura wondered what had happened; injuries at a complex like this were inevitable, that's why they had doctors like herself on rotation. But for the most part, the staff members were usually enough to deal with what happened. For the young woman who She had seen to be a calm contained young person to be shouting like that it must have been something bad.
She was unfortunately right, when she made it out to the front of the complex she found a very small female-presenting child on the ground with what looked like somebody's sweatshirt bundled up behind her head to elevate it slightly, dropping to her knees Sakura began a physical check taking note of the bruises and their relative ages and felt around for any possible broken bones, not seeing any she activated Diagnostic Touch and soon was being fed data. She noted that what she was being told lined up with what she had visibly observed but also that there was bruising beneath the clothing she wore. Sakura then took note of the quirk-based deficiency that she was seeing. If she was reading it correctly the girl needed blood, the lack of it seemed to be having a negative effect on her brain chemistry. Deactivating her quirk Sakura grabbed her phone and dialed emergency services.
"This is Doctor Sakura Uzuki at the Mustafaru Quirk Training Center. We need an ambulance down here now we have a badly injured child with evidence of prolonged physical abuse and a severe quirk-based deficiency tell the hospital to prepare at least two bags of O- blood." The dispatcher on the other end could only respond "Yes Ma'am" before typing for a few moments and informing her that an ambulance would be on-site in 5 minutes.
Later after the girl had been loaded into the vehicle and Sakura prepared to head to the hospital to assist, she caught sight of the Todoroki Family including Endeavor. The children looked slightly traumatized and the youngest girl was crying while being consoled by her mother who was crying herself. Endeavor for his part had a somewhat distant look on his face as if he were deep in thought. Walking up to him Sakura looked up at the significantly taller man and said "Mr. Todoroki. I would request that you work with the police to bring whoever did this to justice." before turning right around and walking out the door. Nobody who heard her missed the unsaid part of her statement. "And make it Hurt!"
