*Syrus' POV*
I was staring at the in aw once again after I probably figured out why the Man in the Moon chose me to be the Spirit of Halloween. "What's with the lights?" I asked them as Sandman used his own golden dream-sand to clear away Pitch's blacksand.
Santa...er...North chuckled a bit before he answered. "Those lights show all the children that believe in. The others each have their own that acts the same away."
Jake nodded his head with a smile, but then his smile faded. "Pitch has his own version that he uses to send threats to us with the help of his blacksand. Don't know why he only sends them to North though." He explained to me.
I gulped in fear.
"But don't worry, mate. We always stop him in the end, no matter how hard the fight." Bunnymund explained.
Jake placed his staff on his shoulder as he turned to face his fellow Guardian. "Couldn't have said it better than myself, Kangaroo."
Bunnymund glared at him. "If I said it once, I said it a hundred times! I'm a bunny!" He said to the Spirit of Winter.
I laughed at them a bit. 'They both kind of remind me of Chazz, a bit.' I thought with a smile. Bunnymund's temper is like Chazz's. And it was easy to tell that Jake lies calling him 'Kangaroo', like how Chazz liked calling Ja 'Slacker'. I had to keep myself from crying at how much I missed my friends, even Chazz. 'I hope they're okay. Wherever...whenever...they are.' I thought with a twitch of my ear.
I stared at the Globe again a bit more, before things got serious again.
"What will Pitch's first move to trying to become the Spirit of Halloween?" Jake asked the rest of the Guardians.
They turned to face him
"First, he needs to find the Island of Halloween." Bunnymund answered him. "What's the Island of Halloween?" Both me and Jake asked at the same time. I looked at him with surprised eyes. "I may be over three hundred years old, but I've only been an official Guardian for almost fifteen years. So I don't know everything the rest of the Guardians know." He explained to me.
I nodded my head in understanding.
"And to answer your question. The Island of Halloween is where creatures of Halloween that are on the side of good live. Away from the ones on the side of evil." North explained to us. 'There are both good and evil Halloween creatures?' I thought before North continued. "If Pitch finds the Island, he'll then try to become its King. If that happens, he will become the Spirit of Halloween."
I gulped in fear again.
"So all we have to do is stop Pitch from becoming the Spirit of Halloween is find the Island of Halloween and make Syrus the king of the island before him. Piece of cake." Jake said, snapping his fingers when he finished with a cocky smile of his face.
But the rest of the Guardians didn't look so confident.
"Sorry to say it Jake, but it's not that simple." Tooth said, causing Jake's smile to disappear.
"What do you mean?" He asked her.
"Well, for starters, the Island is hidden by a magical force field that makes it where even my Rabbit Holes, North's magic snow globes, and, lucky us, Pitch's ability to travel though the shadows can't find it. Also, it tends to move from place to place every now and then." Bunnymund explained. "And there's an unknown trial that whoever wants to be king of the Island and the Spirit of Halloween has to pass before they can get those titles. We also don't know what happens when someone fails the trail." North continued.
Both me and Jake gulped in fear when he told us that.
"But the trail has to be something Syrus can beat. I mean, the Man in the Moon chose him to be the Spirit of Halloween for a reason." Jake said.
It gave me some confidence that I could pass the trial.
But it also got me thinking.
"If that's the case, then wouldn't that mean he knows what the trial is." I pointed out.
An arrow made of sand that pointed towards me appeared above Sandman's head, who was also pointing at me. "Sandy's right. The kid does have a point." Bunnymund said.
'He got that just by Sandman and an arrow pointing at me?' I thought, curiously.
I then came to the conclusion that, since they've been friends for, who knows how long, that all the Guardians must be able to know what Sandman is saying without him talking.
"Then wouldn't that mean that he also knows where the Island is as well?" Jake said, causing the rest of the Guardians to stare at him in either shock or amazement.
"Crikey! Frost's right!" Bunnymund said.
North then turned to look at the moon. "Do you really know the location of the Island of Halloween, Manny?" He asked as the rest of us looked at the moon as well. I then saw the moon's light shine differently somehow? "Jake? How can the Man in the Moon talk to us if he's 238, 900 miles away?" I asked him, turning to look at the white haired spirit.
"He talks to us by how he shines the moon's light. You'll understand how he shines the moon's light too, in time." He explained to me. "What's he saying now?" I asked the other Guardians as they continued to look at the moon.
"He's saying he does know where the Island is, but he can't tell us because that's part of the trial." Tooth explained.
I then looked at the moon once more. "Can you at least give us a clue?" I asked the Man in the Moon.
The moon's light then shined on a picture of the floor.
The Guardians stepped back, with Jake motioning me to do the same. The floor opened up and a giant crystal came out of the hole. The moonlight reflected off of the crystal and into a beam that shined on the Japanese island of Yakushima.
While the others looked confused, I somehow understood what it meant. "There's a clue of how to find the Island of Halloween on Yakushima, isn't there?" I asked the Man in the Moon as I turned to look at the moon.
The moonlight shined differently again.
I turned to look at the Guardians, who were looking at the moon too.
Sandman was the first to look at me. When he did, a check mark made of sand appeared above his head and he had a smile on his face. I didn't need the other Guardians to tell me what that meant.
"We know where to go first. To the sleigh!" North said as he left the room with me and the rest of the Guardians following him.
As we walked through the work shop, I saw yetis making toys instead of the elves, who were running around the work shop and playing. "I thought the elves made the toys." I said, which caused Jake to laugh. Even the other Guardians gave a small chuckle.
"What's funny?" I asked them.
"Jake said the same thing when he first saw North's work shop." Tooth explained to me once Jake stopped laughing.
"As for who the yetis make the toys instead of the elves. They're too goofy to make the toys. So, they test the toys the yetis made once they're finished." North answered my first question.
We then came to some kind of base that had a red sleigh that looked to be a cross between a snowmobile and a F-14 jet fighter with eight reindeer hooked up to it.
I got excited, like a little kid, when I figured out what it was.
"Is that your sleigh?" I asked North.
He nodded his head yes.
"Everyone loves the sleigh." Bunnymund said. But he didn't look happy, which confused me. "Peter Cottontail doesn't like traveling by sleigh." Jake explained when he noticed my confusion, causing me to laugh a bit.
The rest of us got in the sleigh, with North at the reins, while Bunnymund and Tooth stayed behind. "I think me and Tooth should go to Yakushima our own ways while you all go by sleigh, mates." Bunnymund said before he tapped the ground with his foot twice. When he did, a hole appeared and he jumped into it. Once he did, the hole closed behind him and a flower appeared.
Tooth waved good-bye to us before flying off.
Before I could say anything, the sleigh took off into the sky. "Woah!" I said when it happened.
But my shock soon faded when I was able to see the beauty of the North Pole.
"Wow." I said in amazement.
"Better than flying by plane or any kind of machine like that. Right, Syrus?" North asked me.
"So much better." I said as North grabbed a snow globe from the dashboard. "What are those for?" I asked him.
"Shortcut to Yakushima island." He said while holding the snow globe. I noticed a picture of Yakishima appeared in it. "But how can a snow globe take us where we need to go?" I asked him, as well as Sandman and Jake.
"It's better if you see for yourself." Jake answered.
North than three the snow globe into the air, a bit ahead of the reindeer and the sled, and it somehow shattered. When it did, a portal appeared. "Woah!" I said. North laughed at my reaction. "Hang on!" He said before flicking the reins.
The reindeer then started flying faster until we went into the portal.
"Yakushima! Here we come!" Jake said as we traveled through the portal.
~Meanwhile~*No One's POV*
While the Guardians headed towards the island of Yakushima, they didn't know that Pitch Black was already there. Looking for the first clue to the Island of Halloween.
"Where could it be?!" He shouted as he left the cave. A few of his nightmare wolves were behind him.
He the looked up at the moon.
"Don't think I don't know about the boy, old friend. I will become the Spirit of Halloween before him. And when I do, I will destroy him and the rest of the Guardians. One by one if I have to." He said.
He then got on his trusted nightmare house steed, Onyx, and rode off.
His other blacksand nightmare creatures followed him.
