This is your friendly reminder that in the original film, Rodan canonically ate people.

Here you go, enjoy!

A squad of anti-monster jets flew over Toidera. They were mostly Japanese, along with one American, and even an Otheonian fighter. Kuroki gripped his controls and looked to his fellow fighters. A few hardened veterans, two rookies. And then there was the foreigner.

"Parakeet, you ever fight anything like this before?"

"Nope. Just Ookondorus near the coasts of Kleyd and Floren. Mean, but hardly invincible."

"Then be careful. Rodan is invincible and much faster."

"You don't have to tell me twice. I'd rather not use that generous life insurance the bosses provide us."

"That's the spirit."

He looked out the edge of his cockpit and saw the approaching shadow.

He was here.

Izuku watched the massive pterosaur glide into town with a grace completely at odds with its devastation. Rodan, a truly magnificent kaiju. Powerful, graceful, and unrelentingly ferocious. And unfortunately in a populated area.

Izuku watched the jets chasing after it, firing maser blasts in hopes of drawing it away. Sadly, Rodan was not going to be deterred today. Whoever activated the transmitter made sure of that.

As expected, it made its way toward the shopping area. "Creati, Intelli" he said. "You have incoming."

"Understood!"

"Break off! Get to the shelters!" Momo said. She and Yosetsu ushered the last of the civilians inside the shelters, while Intelli led the other Heroes away. Just as everything seemed to be wrapping up in time, Momo heard a cry.

"Help me!"

She saw a little girl with lizard skin and brown pigtails trailing behind the rest. Momo sprinted forward, grabbed the girl and ran back toward the shelter. Then she saw the shadow passing over.

Yosetsu grabbed Momo and forced her against the wall, welding the three of them as the hurricane force winds hit. Momo grit her teeth and waited until the wind passed. When it did, anything and anyone not nailed down had been blown away. She and Yosetsu ran toward the shelter to get the civilian to safety. Not much they could do against that thing.

This was now the AMF's fight.

Rodan landed in the shopping district, its feet plunging through a nearby building. Rodan let out its warbling shriek, daring any to attack. Izuku was more than willing to answer.

"We need to get him to the warehouse district." That area had been completely evacuated. "Ishikawa, I'm taking my masers around. Standard tanks move in from the south. Pepper it."

The tanks fired at Rodan's back. Overhead, jets also fired machine guns they passed over. Rodan turned around while the tanks all went for cover. Rodan flapped its wings, kicking up large clouds of dust that carried away trees, cars, rooftops, and even chunks of concrete.

Rodan wasn't moving.

Izuku said, "Hinae, take us around. My team, get ready to fire past it."

"Sir!"

"Roger."

"You got it."

Hinae took deep breaths while Izuku fired his shots past Rodan's head, making sure to only barely miss the eyes. Come on Rodan. Come and get me.

Rodan slowly turned its head. Izuku said, "Take cover. Dig in."

Hinae swerved them down a road, then activated their braces. Drills came out the bottom of the tank and bore deep into the ground (Doc Randall would be proud). They should be strong enough to stop a small tornado. Izuku saw the dust cloud go down the adjacent road, with some also coming at Izuku's tank. Izuku braced himself. The dust slammed into his tank. The tank shook, its hull groaning from the blow. Nevertheless, it didn't move. Izuku beamed. "Perfect."

"Now what?" Hinae said, adjusting her goggles.

"Wait." The wind died down. "Take us out there."

She complied. Izuku then took aim at Rodan and fired again, this time grazing it. Rodan let out an enraged shriek. Izuku's heart beat like a drum. Rodan opened its mouth and let out a blast of wind.

Hinae barely dug in in time. The maser lurched from the blow, but did not move. The was more focused than the wing blasts, but it was also weaker. Rodan shrieked at the masers again. Izuku fired again.

Come on. Chase us. Are you scared of us? Godzilla never held back.

Almost as if it heard Izuku, Rodan let out a furious shriek and flapped its wings. Its massive form slowly left the ground. Izuku and his friends fired again. Izuku then said, "Take cover in the buildings. Ishikawa, Belu-be, your turn. Lead him to the warehouses."

"Copy Midoriya!" said Belu-be. Meanwhile, Hinae shifted their tank into reverse and drove it straight through the front of the nearest office building, flattening the lobby.

Jets also fired down at Rodan as it flew past Izuku, joining the masers. Rodan took the bait, following the new attacks while ignoring Izuku's team. Izuku took aim at Rodan's eye in case it was needed. He said to Hinae, "Follow it."

"Yes sir."

Rodan snapped at the jets with its beak. Regular tanks fired shells at Rodan to confuse it, while the masers distracted it long enough for the jets to peel off. Rodan dropped down, touching down just too late for one of the masers to escape. As Rodan's talon reached for it, Izuku shot the kaiju's eye. Rodan screeched from the sudden blow. His gaze swept out while Izuku's tank ducked behind a wall.

For several seconds, Rodan continued staring. Finally, it turned around and continued in the direction of the shelling.

"Ochako, he's coming you way."

"Got it," Ochako said. "We're leaving-"

"Wait!" Earphone Jack said. She tapped her headphones again. "There's one more! In the warehouse! Looks like they're bedridden!"

"What?!" Ochako said. "Are you sure?"

"Positive! I didn't check there before because the area was supposed to be abandoned."

"Shit," Ochako said. "Get to cover. I'll get them to safety!" She kicked off, using her thrusters and grapplers to rush to the warehouse Earphone Jack had pointed at. She got inside just as there was a loud crash outside. Ochako looked out and saw a massive red talon.

Ochako ducked into the warehouse, briefly pausing outside the set of walls in the middle, forming a room within the warehouse. What the…

She went inside. A young woman lay in a hospital bed, hooked up to multiple machines. "Uh guys? We have a situation. This person seems hooked up to some sort of hospital get-up. I'm not sure it's safe to move her."

"Show us," said Ingenium.

Ochako took a photo with her phone and uploaded it to Hero channels. One of the Heroes said, "She should be safe. Those are monitoring equipment, not life support."

Ingenium said over the comms, "I'll come and take her to safety."

Ochako said. "Thanks."

She just hoped Rodan didn't make things worse.

Izuku watched as Rodan marched around the warehouses, looking around, trying to spy any enemies. It spotted a small group of dummies laid by the AMF and pounced, driving its beak into dozens at once. Rodan then spat them out and petulantly swung its wing, blowing them away from the wind.

Rodan briefly flew up to perch on a nearby building and let out its loud warbling screech, as if daring anyone else to attack it.

Izuku moved his tank around slowly, along with the others. With any luck, Ochako would be able to slip away unseen. But if she couldn't…that thing was not killing his friend.

Rodan's eyes slowly scanned the area. Izuku's team moved slowly, darting from cover to cover, keeping out of its sight at all times. Rodan had far better vision than Godzilla, being an aerial predator, so they had to be much more careful.

All along, Izuku kept his aim on Rodan.

Ochako heard the sound of an approaching engine. She went out and waved as Ingenium arrived. "She's over here."

He followed her into the girl's room. Slowly, the two disconnected the girl's IV, followed by the heart rate monitor, and other machines. Ochako then removed the girl's gravity and laid her in Ingenium's arms. "Let me know when she's safe and I can return her gravity."

"I will." He then turned around and sped out. Ochako herself went outside and ran toward the next group of warehouses. She then darted out across the street to a nearby alley. From there she watched Rodan. When it was looking away, she sprinted a full block before getting back into the alley.

Ochako got out and was about to go another when all the hairs on her neck rose. She turned around. She sucked in a breath.

Rodan was looking right at her.

Something was wrong. Rodan had turned around and was looking at something in the warehouse area. Unfortunately, Izuku couldn't see what. However, the way Rodan's eyes subtly moved, the way it seemed to be bunching itself to spring…

He looked at the viewing screen, trying to figure out what it was stalking. Then the drone shifted, letting Izuku see it. His heart almost stopped. Ochako. Izuku readied his guns, no longer caring about the promise he'd made to himself before. However, he then glanced at Hinae. He had to do this right, so that both of them could still get away alive.

"Hinae, look for somewhere we can hide. Quick."

She glanced back at him, confused. One look at his face and her eyes widened. She quickly looked around. "Found a spot!"

"Good."

Rodan bunched its legs. Izuku's finger was already on the trigger. Rodan lunged at Ochako. Izuku's maser was already aiming in front of Rodan's path. However, when Izuku fired, his shot streaked past the creature's eye.

It wasn't because he missed.

It was because a red streak had collided with the creature's head.

Red Riot.

Eijiro slammed his heel into Rodan's beak. Twin blue beams streaked past him, burrowing into a building. As the kaiju reeled from his attack, he said to Uravity, "GO NOW!"

Rodan shook its head off then lunged at Eijiro, beak open. Eijiro leaped to the side. He ran around and was about to attack again.

"Good hit Red Riot." Midoriya said. "Now fall back."

Eijiro shot forward. Sorry Midoriya, but this time I'm going to take this bastard do-

Rodan opened its beak again. A blast of high wind sent Eijiro flying backward, creating a small crater in a nearby roof. Rodan lunged at Eijiro, beak open as if about to swallow him whole. Eijiro yanked himself away with Black Whip and landed on a nearby rooftop. He readied his fist. One for All streaked through Eijiro as he leaped up and punched the kaiju in the face. Rodan flew backward before flipping itself mid air, landing on its feet and flapping its wings.

Eijiro lunged forward to hit it again, only to slam into a solid wall of wind. The air was shoved from his lungs as he tumbled backward. Eijrio went full unbreakable and threw a punch. The wind blast sent him into a window, shattering it before the wind sent him tumbling again. Nevertheless, his move had slowed down enough that some smaller punches gave him enough control to use Black Whip to pull himself onto another building.

Momo screamed into his comms. "Red Riot, pull back now! You hit it well, but you can't win this fight."

"How do you kn-"

"I said NOW!"

Eijiro grit his teeth. "Fine. This time." He raced away. Meanwhile, Rodan took to the sky, flying overhead Eijiro dug his fingers into a nearby building to avoid being blown away.

"He's moving," Izuku said. "Fighters, engage him from above. Hit him hard, then run."

"Like you even need to say it."

The fighters sent several missiles into Rodan's head and neck area before flying off. Rodan took off after one of them, pulling a high speed turn and sideswiping one jet with its wings. The fighter crumbled. Rodan took off after another one. The others flew on all sides of Rodan, firing at its head. However, the look in Rodan's eye was-

"He's about to roll!" Izuku said.

The fighters peeled off as Rodan did just that, using its wings to swat too of them like flies. One of the two at least managed to eject in time. The rest of the jets were scattered, aside from two, one Japanese, one Otheonian. The two screamed down and fired at Rodan with their masers before breaking off. Rodan followed the Japanese one, flapping its wings to close the distance. The fighter peeled to the side, trying to lose Rodan, but Rodan was relentless. A quick shot of its breath knocked the fighter off course, letting Rodan close the distance further.

The fighter desperately drove forward as Rodan's talons reached out, almost about to close around it. The Otheonian fighter flew in from Rodan's front, firing missiles right into Rodan's face. Rodan was so caught off guard that the fighter managed to fly right past its head without consequences

That was one heck of a pilot.

"Whooo!" Rody Soul yelled as he passed Rodan. I love this job!

That was the most insane move he'd ever done so far! And he wasn't even the slightest bit fazed either! Pino meanwhile was for some mysterious reason curled up against Rody while shivering uncontrollably.

"Thanks Parakeet," Kuroki said.

"Anytime," Rody said. He turned around with a cocky smirk, which vanished at the same moment Pino let out a sharp screech. Rodan was turning around, staring right on Rody. And it looked ticked.

I hate this job.

Rodan took off after the Otheonian fighter. The fighter dove away, trying desperately to evade. Rodan kept on it, ignoring the other fighters firing at it from behind. Izuku got his masers in position around the warehouse district.

Meanwhile, the Otheonian fighter was still trying to escape the relentless Rodan.

Izuku looked around. There. "Are those skyscrapers, and the areas around them, totally evacuated?"

"Yes why?" Intelli said. Then. "Hold on. Don't you dare. Don't you-!"

"Parakeet," Izuku said. "Fly between the skyscrapers. Belu-be, Kisaragi, aim at the face."

Parakeet's fighter dove for the skyscrapers. He weaved in and out, but Rodan simply went around. As Parakeet grew closer to the last set of buildings he said, "I hope you have a good plan!"

Rodan moved to fly around the building and snatch the wayward fighter.

"Fire."

Izuku and the other masers hit Rodan's head and neck. Rodan screeched, but continued its turn. Its eyes widened as its wing clipped the side of the building, sending concrete, plaster, and glass raining down. Rodan's flat path had been knocked loose. Rodan flailed before recovering into an awkward landing in the downtown area. It glared in the direction of Izuku's masers.

The jets circled back, keeping their distance as long as Rodan remained on the ground. Nevertheless, they still got close enough for Rodan to fire an airblast from its mouth, forcing them to scatter.

It was too close to the harbor. People were still evacuating there. Izuku needed to get it away. But attacking now would be borderline suicide. He needed some sort of distraction.

Hold on.

"Kacchan?" he said.

"What?"

"I need a distraction so we can retreat while leading it to a more isolated area. I need you. More importantly, I need your greatest strength."

"What? My explosions? Grenades? Howitzer Impact?"

Izuku smiled. "Your obnoxious personality!"

In the bay, various AMF craft hastily made evasive maneuvers while fountains of water erupted from beneath the surface, caused by the various mines and torpedoes being fired.

Just behind those fountains, the sea bulged.

Wasn't it fun to see Rody? I planned on him being a pilot since the end of King's Return but uh forgot (procrastinated) on making a one-shot about him, so I included him here. He's one of their best pilots.

It was fun showing them fighting Rodan, especially including the jet action (which I added more of in revision since I'd established them as the main way of fighting Rodan in the air). And yes, for those wondering, that breath weapon wasn't made up by me. Rodan actually did that in his debut film.

Also they have now rescued/claimed Katsura! I'm sure this won't in any way affect her father's mental state!

Hope you enjoyed! Comments and kudos make me smile!
