Rose Long, enjoying a rare moment of peace in Central Park, is approached by Linda, who recalls unpleasant encounters with Rose's twin, Lily. Linda's description of Lily's rude and abusive behavior reassures Rose that her decision to cut ties with her twin was justified. Feeling validated, Rose leaves the park with a sense of relief.

Rose is trying to atone for her sins by fighting on the side of the Magical Militia, even though she is not only of the Huntsclan, but one of the Huntsman's elite force of fighters. After Sigmund Brock nearly exposes Jake as a dragon, Nigel takes it upon himself to collect what's left of the mixture up on the stage since it poses such a large threat to the magical world as a whole. However, this simple action leads to revelations he could've never imagined.
