So this chapter is gonna be like starting with dessert with some sweet comedy with the Mutant Babies before moving onto having to eat the bitter vegetables with seeing Marzipan still has some issues with her family or rather some of her family members' mental issue have not been resolved or were made worse by their time enslaved...Such is life for some people trauma doesn't result in a heroic character arc
As Bridget began to prepare for her trip to Greece, Caesar was also preparing...To spend time with her computer! Before logging off on his first session with the Alien Tales game, he learned the other names of the books that had Alien Plagiarists claiming to have written them by rolling his cursor over them. Thus he had begun preparing by going to the local library and asking for the book titles he had written down before logging off, Caesar being a Chimpanzee and thus the most clever of his adoptive siblings was the best at reading and writing, with Taylor the Flamingo being the 2nd best mostly because Ichabod loved reading to her, and being a bird she was most receptive to sitting in the rocking chair, being cuddled and read to, where her more rambunctious mammalian siblings preferred wrestling with Marzipan. Zeb to her shame, was still struggling to read mostly because as Zebra her eyes were on the side of her head thus she struggled to see things that were directly in front of her, which is how most people read books, however similar to how she still walked on all fours because her young Mutant Body was developing slower than her mind, it was suspected that eventually as she continued to grow she would develop the ability to read despite her eyes being on the side of her head like most Humanimal Herbivores.
At this very moment, the Young Zebra Filly was pacing back and forth nervously as Caesar was stuffing his new library books into his backpack in preparation for his next trip to basically use the books as 'Cheat Sheets'
"I don't like this…" Zeb said shaking her long head "...I mean the first time you were able to do it because none of the Fellowship Crew were on Earth! I mean Captain Matoaka practically lives on her spaceship, do you think the rest of them will let you play on Bridget's special computer?!"
"The game show seems to happen late at night…" Caesar said as he zipped up his backpack "...And the Captain like most equines sleeps at night, I'll keep the volume down...Or maybe I'll bring headphones…"
"Yeah…" Rye said as the Anteater Cub scratched himself with his long claws "...Most of the Fellowship Herd have been kind of...Doing their own thing more and more, so really it's only the Captain and her family we got to worry about…" As the only other male cub in the group, at the moment Rye was supportive of his brother's search for adventure and he was excited to see how he would continue with the game show, even though last time he got bored halfway through and fell asleep.
"Anyway…" Caesar said "...When I got these books the librarian said 'How good it is to see such a young cub taking an interest in Old Earth literature! Not many young people seem interested in reading these days! So many of these books we discovered in hidden places, preserved by fairy magic as it seemed they were waiting for us to be ready to rediscover our culture! So you see it's my patriotic duty as an Earthling to represent us! Show these Aliens how smart Earthlings are!"
Zeb remembered how the Aliens kept calling Caesar a human, and felt unsure that the Creatures of this game show were beings worth...Proving your worth to...To her the creatures she saw on the Game Show seemed like the kind of sleezey people who gather on the wrong side of the tracks…
Meanwhile during these past few days following the return to Earth, Marzipan had left it to her Uncle Gus to help the rest of her family register as citizens of Earth and finding a place to stay, and she new Uncle Gus had more experience with this kind of boring grown-up stuff involving paperwork than she did…
The day after her first Mizzer Club, Marzipan arranged a meeting between her family and Ichabod's (Minus Ichabod's mother, Pamela had been becoming more and more aloof, so really it was just her family, Ichabod and Jonathan)
And that's when her mother Esmeralda said said "Look, Marzipan...Dearest...We need to talk about your relationship with a human…"
Marzipan's ears flattened "What?" Her voice a low feline rumble
"Marzipan…" Her Mother said "...It's just that it's not very...Seemly that you're with a human...You know what we always said about Humanimals who became celebrities and shamed themselves by showing their Animal Bodies on national television…"
Marzipan's jaw dropped...These were the same exact things her parents said on Mizzer before the invasion? Had they really not changed at all during there experience? Surely their encounter with the Wranglers should have proved that humans are not these perfect Gods who Humanimals should be constantly ashamed of themselves because they weren't exactly like them!
"Really…" Esmeralda said "...I think it would be best if you left that human boy, and we go back to living like before...Hopefully we'll soon find you a nice Cat-Boy…."
"Before?! BEFORE?!" Marzipan stood up and screamed "Before we couldn't even see Humanimals who weren't Cats! Who do you think you were living with all those years in that hole?!"
Marzipan's sister Emma who had been quiet the entire time finally spoke up and said "Mom, and Dad never really interacted with any Non-Cat Humanimals...They kind of just...Stayed by themselves and waited for supplies to come...They almost never said or did anything the entire time…" And the angry look on her face, told everyone that Emma was angry that during that time Emma basically had to learn to raise herself among the fugitive slaves because her parents were too cowardly to interact with any Humanimal who wasn't a Cat and so they became reliant on Uncle Gus and their own youngest child because they spent all their time cowering in a corner.
Marzipan turned to her parents and said "You haven't learned anything at all...If anything you've become worse! If it weren't for Uncle Gus saving your hides you would have been turned to sausages ages ago! You're too stuck in the ways of Mizzer to change even if your lives depend on it! You were too scared to work for the Wrangler humans because you feel petrified with shame whenever a human looks at you! And you're terrified of all Non-Cat Humanimals just because that's what you've been told all your lives! My survival depended on relying good humans and Non-Cat Humanimals! That Human boy is the one who saved my life, and thus allowed me to be able to save you! But you can't see that because deep down you're nothing but CONFORMITY ADDICTS!
And with that Marzipan ran out of the tea room crying...Jonathan was the one to run after her…
Gus seeing everything Marzipan said was true turned to his sister and brother in-law and knew it was time to give them a piece of his mind…
OK obviously Marzipan was gonna get angry at her parents I didn't want her to be...Too harsh like just say mean insults but to actually be legitimate criticisms about how her parents neurotic actions are suicidally insane because they couldn't get over their own hang-ups they would have been killed if it weren't for more sane family members looking out for them
