This story takes place right before the final chapter of the story "Everybody Hurts" from my original profile CGEverFan which unfortunately, I have been thoroughly locked out of. Please enjoy and keep in mind the content warning from the summary.

A day like any other is a day you would least expect to end in misfortune, and so was the case for dear sweet Alice Cullen. As she lay on her bed flipping through a magazine and blowing on freshly painted nails, she had no foresight for the events of the afternoon. A brief wave of anger overtook the house and she paused her reading in an attempt to tune into her husband's emotions. It was a frequent accident of his to subject the rest of the house to his emotional aura. It lasted a brief moment before she felt him leaving the house. With a sigh Alice continued to look over her magazine.

"If he wanted me to know, he would come tell me." she thought. But to her great frustration, she felt a vision clouding her thoughts.

"I won't allow it Carlilse!" Jasper shouted.

"I don't recall asking your permission Jasper." Carlisle answered back, calmly and thoughtfully. "As it stands you've earned yourself a punishment for your disrespect and threats against me. If you continue in this manner, you will learn why the strap is so feared from your brothers."

"No, no, no" Alice thought to herself as she cleared the vision. "My poor husband will have to sort this one out himself."

She returned to her magazine fretfully and attempted to distract herself from looking more into the argument.

"I wonder what could have gotten Jasper so worked up that he is willing to argue with daddy over it." She worried.

She needn't have waited long. Moments later, a small knock came at the door.

"Come in?" Alice questioned. Rose and Esme had gone out shopping. Edward and Emmett were on a hunt, and Jasper never knocked. It was Carlisle who came in.

"Oh!" she said. She sat up quickly and put her magazine away. "Did you need something?"

"Unfortunately my darling, we need to have a conversation," he said grimly.

"I won't allow it Carlisle!" flashed through her mind and she suddenly found herself quite nervous. Was this what Jasper wouldn't allow?

"Ok!" she said with fake gayety. "What do we need to talk about?"

Carlisle sat next to her on the bed and handed her several pieces of white paper. They were credit card statements. Alice cringed. She knew she had been spending too much again, but whenever she was faced with the decision to buy everything she wanted or to walk away, she found herself swiping the credit card.

Each of the kids had one to spend as they chose, yet none were as extravagant as Alice. Rose got away with her extravagance by having Emmett buy her things whenever she was mad at him. Which was quite often these days. But Jasper did not believe in frivolous spending and would chide her if she approached him for purchases when her limit had been reached.

"I guess I've run up my card again." she said nervously. "I'm so sorry! I just didn't think." Her voice trailed off as she saw Carlisle sigh.

"We've had to talk about this so many times dear Alice. Why is it that you cannot seem to remember to keep your spending in check?" he asked.

"I honestly have no idea! I just see things I want and suddenly, I have them."

They were both silent for a moment. Carlisle sighed again and stood resolutely.

"Alice, this behaviour is simply unacceptable." he began to pace. Had Alice ever been in this position before, she would have recognized the tell-tale sign of what was about to happen. "I have asked you time and time again to be more mindful with your spending. I work very hard to provide for everyone. Money is not something that we ought to take for granted. We surely have more than enough, but the sustainability of our funds is being threatened by you running up your credit card every month." He paused to gauge the effectiveness of his lecture. The spectacle before him was as he could have predicted. Alice's face sported a devastated expression.

"Oh daddy, I am SO sorry." she cried. "I really will try to do better. I just don't understand why I have such a hard time with this!"

"I think I know what will help." he said softly. Alice looked up at him, seeming to know what he meant. She trembled and paled.

"Oh must you?" she said with a noticeable quiver in her quiet voice.

"Yes my darling, I think I must." he said sitting down on the bed beside her. "I think you need a physical reminder to obey my instructions."

Before she could react, he took her by the hand and guided her over his lap. He had never truly taken one of his children over his lap before. Usually, he made them put their hands on a wall or something, or bend over a chair, desk, a bed, once or twice the hood of a car. All of that felt too impersonal and harsh for his delicate little girl, especially for this kind of infraction.

He placed his hand on her back and winced as she tensed under his touch. She was earnestly crying already, weeping her heart out into the pillow she had buried her face in.

"Alice, my sweet girl, there's no need for all that," he said.

She lifted her face just enough to mutter, "Yes there is! You're going to spank me. I've never been spanked before. I've been the good girl! And now I'm not!" she began crying again.

"Alice…" Carlisle scolded. "You are not bad. Everyone has lapses in judgement. Even me and Esme!"

She sniffled and took a few deep breaths to calm herself. Then she turned to look at her father as best she could from her position. "You do? But you're so good!" she said.

He laughed. "You forget my darling daughter, that I've been around for centuries. I have had hundreds of years of practice. But indeed, I do sometimes still make foolish decisions and when I do, I seek absolution in the ways that are available to me."

Alice sniffed and laid back down on the pillow.

"Is it going to hurt?" she asked.

"Yes," he said resolutely.

Tears sprung into her eyes again as she surrendered herself to the punishment. Carlisle knowingly shifted his weight and rested his hand again on her back. This time, his hand was not greeted with a flinch.

"I know we will not be in this situation together again, but just in case this spanking doesn't make that abundantly clear, you will find yourself in this position every time your spending grows out of control. Do you understand me?" he asked.

Alice nodded.

"A verbal response please Alice."

"Yes sir." she choked out.

Seeing no need for further delay, Carlisle began the spanking. His swats were not harsh; they did not come in a quick peppering burst. He spanked in an even methodical fashion. Having never delivered this sort of spanking before, he was unsure of many swats to deliver, or if he ought to spank for a specific amount of time. He decided that his other punishments were dealt based on a number and most often his children knew that number before the punishment began. This, he believed, caused them to know for certain the severity of their punishment before punishment worthy actions were committed. This would be no different. Though he had not told her before the punishment began, he said,

"You are doing well, my daughter. I will give you six more and we will be finished." Then to himself. "A dozen swats should leave an impression."

Alice nodded through her tears.

The spanking concluded. Carlisle felt he had never delivered such a difficult punishment before. The firsts with all his children had been difficult, but Alice's first time had truly and thoroughly drained him. And he still had Jasper to deal with afterwards.

He guided Alice to sit in his lap. She wiggled slightly to get comfortable with the feeling of a spanked behind and then buried her face in his shoulder to cry.

"I am so SO sorry daddy!" she sobbed. "I am so sorry I made you spank me."

"Shhh Alice." he comforted. "My daughter, you are forgiven. Truly forgiven. And I am sorry I had to spank you. I didn't want to."

They sat for several moments as Carlisle waited for Alice to calm down. Everytime her crying seemed to slow, she would issue another apology and burst into fresh sobs until Carlisle grew concerned.

"Alice darling you must calm down!"

"I ca-ant" she cried. "I am so sad and embarrassed."

"Do you want me to get Jasper?" he asked.

Alice nodded.

"Are you going to be ok if I leave for a moment?"

She nodded again. Before he left, moved her to lay down on the bed, smoothed her hair, and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

He knew exactly where to find Jasper. Carlisle had warned him to take some time away from the house. Jasper had sensed the emotional state Carlisle was in and knew immediately it had to do with Alice. The two had argued in which time Jasper had growled and attempted to grab onto Carlisle, threatening to stop him if he dared lay a finger on Alice. Ultimately, Carlisle won the argument and had left Jasper to think on his actions and await his punishment.

Jasper was pacing nervously. He stopped and tucked his head as Carlisle approached and opened his mouth to speak.

Carlisle held up his hand.

"Not now Jasper. Alice is very upset at what has happened, and she wishes to have you nearby. We can resolve your punishment after you have comforted her."

Jasper nodded and ran towards the house.
