"So, Starbucks?" Marinette asked Adrien after school, as they gathered their books and backpacks. Adrien nodded, multitasking, slinging his backpack over his shoulders and clicking at his phone at the same time.
The day was beautiful, a perfect day for a walk, and though Marinette and Adrien were together, Marinette felt like she was alone, as Adrien furiously tapped away at his phone.
"Adrien, what are you doing?" she finally asked, hoping it wasn't serious. "Reading cat puns," came the prompt reply and Marinette stopped dead in the middle of the sidewalk. "Reading cat puns," she repeated.
Adrien pocketed his phone and took her hand, and resumed walking. "My Lady, did you think I purr-fected all my jokes on my own?" "Yes." Adrien chuckled. "That's flattering, my love, but I'm a busy guy to be always thinking cat jokes." "Yeah, cause Mandarin, fencing, and school keep you so busy."
Her boyfriend coughed, hiding a laugh. "I was actually thinking grooming, having showers, and the occasional catnip."
The words left Marinette's before she could pull them back. "Your vainer then I thought," she blurted. "Oh, come on, you love me, cookie thief and all." "Yes, I do love you, now what's this about cookies?"
"I've been a good boi." Marinette rolled her eyes. "And were friends with Hawkmoth now?" "Hey," Adrien held up his hands. "I didn't say all the time." "And here I thought you were an angel. Your buying my drink."
Adrien giggled, flicking her pigtail, like a naughty feline. "I wouldn't expect anything less, Bugaboo."
Marinette stopped, turning to her boyfriend. "Really? Then did you expect this?" and she leaned over, giving him a big smooch, then sauntered away.
Oh, the cat had Adrien's tongue now.
They were a good match for each other, suits or not. One serious, one silly, balancing each other out.
