Marinette walked back in the bakery, her face a picture of a thundercloud. "Uh-oh, that's not a happy face," her boyfriend, Adrien, said. He was in the back kitchen making bread dough with a curious Plagg watching, and opposite of Marinette, he looked happy as a clam.
"My moped won't start," she sighed, flopping onto one of the island stools. "Is it out of gas?" Adrien asked. "No, its making this weird clicking sound. Plagg, you didn't find a new hiding spot for your cheese stash, did you?"
Plagg glared. "I'm offended!" Plagg had been squirreling cheese away in the weirdest places lately, and last week her father had been nearly buried in cheese. "Wait!" Adrien clicked his fingers. "Don't you have, you know, superpowers?" he teased. Marinette giggled. "Yeah, but with great power comes great responsibility." "You've been watching Spider-Man again, haven't you?" Marinette glared. "So what if I have? Did his moped break down?"
"What about the bike in the back, in the alley?" Marinette perked up. "Hey, its worth a shot. Plagg, you and Tikki want to come along? We'll stop at Leo's!"
Leo's Cheese Shop was were Adrien bought Plagg's cheese, and both were firm friends with Leo. Plagg grinned an evil grin. "Sure, but my next hiding place is your socks!" Marinette gave him her best Ladybug glare. "If you so put one hunk of cheese in my sock, you'll be in the box for a time-out!"
The bike was in good shape, much to Marinette's relief, and Adrien pinged the bell few times. "Whenever you ring the bell, think of me." Marinette snorted, mounting the bike and leaning over to kiss his cheek. "I already do, silly Kitty."
Before apples of embarrassment could bloom on Adrien's cheeks, Marinette was pedaling away, the crisp autumn air hitting her cheeks. She loved going through the park, and she wondered how fast her bike could go.
Nikki and Plagg peeked out of the rim of the basket as Marinette yelled, "Okay, guys! Ready to speed up!" Whoosh! Marinette gave a yell of excitement, while inside the basket Plagg looked a bit green.
After they bought Plagg's cheese, Marinette relaxed with a cone, glad no akuma or zooming fur balls where at large.
"Have a nice ride?" Adrien asked, when they arrived home for patrol at sunset. "It was fun," Marinette said, leaning the bike where she had found out. "But now its time to run on the rooftops!"
Adrien smiled, and they transformed together, chasing and playing. Now, this was the way to travel, Ladybug style!
