Six years had flown past in the blink of an eye, Sakura was now 18 years-old, solely working within Konoha Hospital. She left team 7 three years ago allowing her team to transition into a three-man squad with just Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakashi. It wasn't that she wanted to leave them, but she knew she had to move on, she was tired of fighting and once her boys came of age, she knew it would be safe for them to complete missions without her. She decided to train under Tsunade, not only learning incredible medical ninjutsu but also Tsunade's signature inhuman strength and Byakugou seal. Sakura was enjoying the slow life she was living, almost civilian. Sakura walked down the hospital hallways, holding a clipboard of her patients charts loosely, heading toward their room. Something about today just seemed off to her, the hospital was too quiet. She didn't want to jinx herself, however, war was on the horizon, the halcyon days were gone and she wouldn't be surprised if Tsunade pulled her back into the mix.

Sakura arrived at room 307, stopping to read over the chart that one of the nurses handed off to her. She opened the clipboard only to lose her line of thought when reading the name.

Shisui Uchiha.

She hadn't spoken to him since she saved him from Danzou. She wondered if he was still the same goofy boy, the so called 'black sheep' of the Uchiha clan. Silencing her thoughts of him she continued reading his chart. A Comminuted Fracture of his left Femoral Shaft.

What an idiot.

Still looking over his chart, she reached for the door and slid it open and walked in. She could sense Shisui's eyes looking at her, as well as none other than Itachi Uchiha. She'd seen Itachi in passing every so often but hadn't spoken to him since her alleged 'Genin' days. This was not something she expected, a pit formed in her stomach. She knew this was going to be a horrid day.

"Good afternoon, Uchiha-san. I am Dr Haruno; however, you may call me Sakura-san. How does your leg feel?" She finally looked up at them, trying to hold a small smile on her face. It was hard pretending to be kind to a dumbass.

"It hurts like hell. For some reason the nurses refused to give me anything for the pain. Can't you help me Sakura-chan?" He smiled at her cheekily but she could see true pain through his flirtatious attempts. Of course the nurses didn't give him anything for the pain, not when it says in his chart he did this during training.

"It's Sakura-san." She lost her smile, "It says in your chart that you managed to fracture your femur during training, is that correct?" She could see Itachi roll his eyes at Shisui from her peripheral. Even he knew that this was stupid.

"Yes" Shisui said dragging out the s with some confusion.

"Well, Uchiha-san, are you aware that it is incredibly difficult to fracture your femoral shaft. So difficult that it rarely happens unless you're in the line of duty. I can honestly say this is the reason why you weren't given anything for the pain. The nurses wanted you to suffer." Her smile came back and turned gleeful, "This was their way of saying you're an idiot."

"Uh, that's not very nice Sakura-chan." Shisui pouted.

"However, I can only assume the fault isn't yours alone, now was it, Uchiha-san?" She turned from Shisui to look at Itachi, "I'm surprised, you of all people, would be so careless, Itachi-san. I'm truly disappointed." Itachi stared back at her unblinkingly and Shisui snickered at the thought of Itachi being lectured.

Itachi's eyes had a humorous glint as he bowed his head slightly to her "I am sorry to be a disappointment, Sakura-san." That's probably the best she would get out of him.

"I see. Now, I suppose I should heal you Uchiha-san. We can't have one of Konoha's prized Shinobi out of commission now, can we?" Bringing her hands just above Shisui's left thigh, they began to glow green, she focussed on knitting the bone back together until there wasn't even a blemish left.

"All done."

"Really? That was so quick." Shisui exclaimed in surprise as he swung his legs over the side of the bed and sat up.

"Yes. I should be off now. I have other patients to see. The nurse will be here soon with your discharge paperwork. If you don't stay to sign them, I will personally see to it that Tsunade-sama takes you off the mission roster for the foreseeable future." She smiled as she watched Shisui blanch, grabbing her clipboard she headed to the door but as her hand settled on the door handle something made her pause, a question.

She turned her head slightly without moving her body, just enough to see Itachi's face, "Itachi-san, is Sasuke-kun well?"

"Yes. He is doing well." That was all she needed to hear. Sasuke and Naruto never got over her leaving the team. They were still upset with her after all these years, Kakashi understood though, he always understood. She opened the door and left the room without another word.

Itachi's POV

He hadn't spoken to Sakura Haruno in years. She seemed the same as the last time they spoke. Formal, professional. No room for small talk. He supposed he enjoyed that about her, even if it didn't suit her.

"Is she on of Sasu-chans, for a lack of a better word, fangirls?" His cousin asked from his hospital bed curiously.

"No, she was his teammate. The last member of Team 7." Itachi was curious himself. He never understood why she chose to retire, she seemed to be an adequate kunoichi from what his younger brother had shared with him.

"I never would've guessed." Shisui hummed quietly, "She's quite pretty and a proficient healer, perhaps Sasuke should've captured her heart when he had the chance."

He never looked at her that way but he supposed she was quite attractive. With her unconventional long bubble-gum pink hair that falls to her waist, wide emerald green doe eyes, and not to mention her pale unblemished skin and slim figure. Perhaps she was vain. Itachi snapped out of his thoughts as he noticed the hospital room door open and a nurse walk in with a slight blush on her face. It was not a particularly warm day so he was unsure as to what could make her so flushed.

"Ah, U-uchiha-san," she stuttered, "I-I have your discharge paperwork for you to sign." The girl could barely make eye contact with Shisui and it was like she refused to look in his direction. Was she intimidated because of their prominent Clan?

"Thank you, sweetheart." Would Shisui ever stop flirting with every woman he set his eyes on? Most likely not. The girls face turned beet red and it almost looked like steam was coming off her skin as Shisui signed the paperwork. Did she have a fever? He watched curiously as she quickly gathered the paperwork from Shisui and ran out of the room.

"Should we be off, Tachi-chan?"

"Hn."

They arrived at the Uchiha main house in the late afternoon, Itachi could smell his mother's cooking as they walked in. Dumplings. Heading to the kitchen they went to greet his mother.

"We're home, Mother." Itachi said with a small smile, he never claimed to not be a mama's boy. Everyone just assumed he was emotionless.

"Good afternoon, Mikoto-obasan." Shisui greeted with a grin.

"Oh, Itachi-chan, Shisui-chan, you're just in time for lunch. Could you please let Sasuke-chan know to come and eat?" Mikoto said kindly as she busied herself with setting the meal out.

"Of course, Mother." Without another thought, Itachi and Shisui headed up the stairs of the main house and towards Sasuke's bedroom. He stopped to knock on the door and waited to hear Sasuke's approval to enter.

"Come in." with that, he opened the door to see his little brother reading in bed.

"Mother asked me to let you know lunch is being served." He stated casually, before Sasuke could respond, Shisui popped out from behind Itachi with a mischievous grin.

"Sasu-chan! You'll never guess who we ran into at the hospital." Itachi knew that Shisui was trying to stir up some trouble but in all honesty, he wondered how his brother would react. Sakura-san made it obvious that she wasn't aware of his brother's wellbeing, which made him believe they hadn't seen each other for quite a while. He hadn't met Sakura-san many times other than when she was still on Team 7, they all seem so close back then.

"Hn." Both Itachi and Shisui acknowledged Sasuke's reply as him saying 'who?'.

"Well Sasu-chan, we ran into the beautiful Sakura-chan! She was so pretty in her little white coat and she fixed my leg right up!" Shisui exclaimed in a childlike way.

"Sakura… is annoying." Sasuke shut his book and walked past them as he headed down to the kitchen. Shisui just made eye contact with Itachi, a look of wonder passing over his expression. It was definitely curious.
