Monday Night RAW: 7/4/2014
Monday Night RAW is live at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, 23 hours removed from WrestleMania 30. RAW returns from commercial break following NXT Women's Champion, Paige, defeating AJ Lee to become the WWE Divas Champion.
Hulk Hogan comes down to the ring and poses for the crowd. He says that last night was full of WrestleMania moments but his favourite one took place in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. This is when Big Show was tossed over the top rope.
"And now, brothers, let me introduce you to the man who won in all last night, the son of the Undertaker, the new Reaper of WWE... RYAN MAVERICK!" Hogan introduced to a pop from the fans.
'I'm the hand of GOD! I'm the Dark Messiah! I'm the Vengeful One!'
The Vengeful One by Disturbed hit to a huge pop from the crowd as Ryan Maverick walks out onto the stage, stopping to take in the spectacle, the feeling and the reaction of the crowd. He smirks and looks at the nearby camera.
"They really are loud the night after WrestleMania!" He shouted to it for the fans at home, then starts making his way towards the ring as Hogan claps for him.
Making his way to the ring, Ryan hops onto the apron and enters through the middle rope. He shoots his arms up in a manner similar to his father during the American Badass days, then turns and does the same for the other side, with the fans copying the gesture.
Ryan's theme dies down as he shakes hands with Hogan before being offered the microphone, and Hogan leaves the ring. Ryan stands in the middle, looking at the Andre the Giant Memorial trophy, before smirking at the fans as they chant his name.
'Ryan Maverick! Ryan Maverick! Ryan Maverick!'
Ryan shakes his head. "So this is what it feels like to be on the RAW after WrestleMania, huh?" The crowd cheered in response, making him laugh. "Well, it feels so damn good! The reaction from you guys are something to behold in person compared to seeing it on a TV screen. It feels really, really good to be here. To finally stand in this ring. You know, I never thought I would eventually make it here. I didn't come to WWE earlier because I wasn't ready for it. Because I wanted to show that I'm not being handed things. That I am not in my father's shadow like some people believe."
'Undertaker! Undertaker! Undertaker!' The crowd chanted, making Ryan pause with a small smirk as he nods.
"Yeah. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him. He is the man that helped me get this far in my career, showed me the ropes." Ryan said, slowly pacing in the ring. "You all call him the Undertaker, the Phenom, the Lord of Darkness, the Deadman, the Demon of Death Valley. But to me, he is and will always will be... my father. Now, onto other business. Last night, I debuted at WrestleMania and won the Andre the Giant Battle Royal!"
The crowd cheered in full agreement with him.
"Wasn't easy, but I did it. And I have to say, it is a real honour to the big man who is a true legend in this business and his legacy is proof of it. I unfortunately didn't have the pleasure of meeting him but from the stories I've heard from other legends, there's a reason he's called Andre the Giant. And finally, I just wanna say-"
We the People plays, cutting him off, and the crowd boos as Cesaro walks out with Zeb Colter, who make their way down towards the ring as Ryan stares at them with a slight frown on his face at being interrupted.
Cesaro and Colter enter the ring and stand across from Ryan, with Colter grabbing a microphone as Cesaro's theme dies down.
"Now let me tell you something, son!" Colter said sternly, causing Ryan to cock a brow. "The only reason you won last night is because Cesaro was unaware and you took advantage of that to eliminate him. How very un-american of you-"
"No, that was a trio of Canadians that were around in 2002, no need to make a reference to them since they never did anything relevant." Ryan said with a roll of his eyes, causing the crowd to laugh as Zeb looked annoyed at being cut off.
"Very funny." Zeb said dryly, getting a smirk from Ryan. "Do you know what kind of guy Cesaro is? I'll tell you what kind of guy he is. he is a guy, let's do a bit of history here, eight or nine, ten months ago I brought you into the fold. Even though you aren't from here, I brought you into the fold as a real American! And not only did I make you a real American, I made you a Zeb Colter guy!"
Ryan rolled his eyes, as even Cesaro seemed a little irritated.
Zeb went to speak again when Cesaro took the microphone from him. "I'm sorry, Zeb. I'm not that guy. I'm not a Zeb Colter guy. I'm a paul Heyman guy!"
The crowd cheered as Paul Heyman makes his way towards the ring. Ryan's expression fell into a blank stare, his eyes zeroing in on Heyman as the advocate for Brock Lesnar stands on the stage before he slowly starts making his way towards the ring.
"Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman." Heyman introduced while walking towards the ring. "And not only am I the strategist behind the breaking of the Streak, I am the advocate for the King of Swing, CESARO!"
"Wait a minute!" Colter turned to Cesaro. "You mean you're telling me, you're jumping ship to Paul Heyman?! Is that what you're doing?!"
'Yes! Yes! Yes!' The crowd chanted.
Heyman had now gotten into the ring and stood beside Cesaro. Ryan stood off to the side, his arms crossed with the same blank expression on his face as he watched the scene before him.
"I know this comes as a shock to you, grandpa." Heyman started. "But this seems to be the week of shocking moments for Paul Heyman guys. So, my first order of business on behalf of my new client is to instruct mr. Layfield and these two other clowns that they call announcers in exactly how I would like them to discuss the future of the King of Swing, Cesaro. So as you real Americans would..." Heyman pauses as he takes notice of Ryan and grins. "Oh! Lookie here! I almost forgot about you, since your moment has been hijacked. The son of the Undertaker!"
Ryan just stared at Heyman blankly.
"Mr. Maverick, I would like to apologise to you." Heyman said, causing Ryan to narrow his eyes a little. "I would like to apologise to you... because my client, Brock Lesnar, conquered the Undertaker's undefeated Streak at WrestleMania! That must've been a real shock for you to witness last night, and I do hope your father makes a speedy recovery given that he collapsed backstage. Perhaps my client, Brock Lesnar, finally knocked some sense into the man and he'll do what he should've done in 2012... retire and STAY gone!"
Ryan didn't find this funny at all as he steps forward, causing Heyman to back off fearfully but Cesaro gets between them and right in Ryan's face. The two stare each other down with glares. Ryan scoffs lowly and walks past Cesaro, purposefully bumping shoulders with him as he exits the ring. He was about to make his way up the ramp when Jack Swagger slides into the ring... AND ATTACKS CESARO FROM BEHIND!
Ryan turned, watching as Swagger assaulted his former tag team partner, throwing him out of the ring. Then Swagger pushes the Andre the Giant memorial trophy over, breaking it to pieces.
At that, Ryan slides back into the ring and comes up behind the former World Heavyweight Champion who turns around into a fury of lefts and rights, forcing Swagger back into the corner as he tries to defend himself but Ryan is unleashing a fast combo of lefts and rights, then pauses as Swagger stumbles out the corner while holding onto the top rope, only to get a clothesline out of the ring.
Ryan holds the ring, throwing his jacket off as he yells for Swagger to get into the ring. Swagger looks to do so but Colter holds him back. Shaking his head, Ryan picks up a microphone.
"Hey, Jackie boy!" Ryan called. "If you claim to be a real American as that fat bearded redneck claims you are, then get ready for this ass whooping, bitch!"
The crowd oohed as Swagger looked enraged. Ryan's theme played as the New Reaper threw his arms up.
RAW soon went to commercial break.
*After the commercial break*
RAW comes back to show Ryan and Swagger in the ring along with a referee, as a match had been made during the break. Colter was at ringside for Swagger, while Cesaro and Paul Heyman stood at the announcer's table, watching and muttering to each other.
The referee soon called for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Swagger went for a lockup but Ryan countered with a boot to Swagger's stomach, then brought his forearm down across his back followed by driving his knee into Swagger's ribcage. Swagger backed away quickly as the referee got in between, calling Ryan off before checking on Swagger who, after a moment, looks ready to continue. However, Ryan quickly comes out with a big right hand, sending Swagger into the corner.
Ryan lands another right hand to the forehead, followed by another, then drives his elbow into the side of Swagger's head. He grabs Swagger's right arm, wraps it around the top rope before pulling on it. Swagger yells in pain from the rope burn against his skin as well as the pressure from Ryan pulling on the arm, before Ryan lands a punch to where the shoulder and arm met. Swagger clutched the area while falling to a knee.
Ryan pulls him to his feet before Irish whipping him off the ropes, goes for a right but Swagger ducks it and Ryan turns into a hip-toss by Swagger, who then brings his elbow down onto Ryan's chest before hooking the leg.
"One-!"
Ryan kicks out at two.
Swagger gets to a knee and punches away at Ryan's forehead until the referee's count makes him stop. The former World Heavyweight Champion gets to his feet and stomps away on Ryan repeatedly, with Ryan quickly rolling out the ring to buy himself some breathing room. Swagger quickly follows him and goes to grab him but Ryan drives his elbow into Swagger's face, then lands a punch to his midsection. Ryan grabs Swagger by the back of his hair and rams his face off the barricade, dazing Swagger momentarily.
Ryan grabs Swagger and brings him over to the ring apron, ramming his head off that as well before pushing him aside to step towards Zeb Colter threateningly after the man got too close for Ryan's comfort. Luckily, his threatening approach made the back back off. However, Swagger attacked him from behind with a forearm to the back of the head, sending Ryan down.
Swagger grabs Ryan and sends him back-first into the corner of the barricade. Swagger walks over and stomps away repeatedly on Ryan before hearing the referee's count and rolls into the ring then back out, breaking the count and causing the referee to restart it.
As Ryan pulls himself to his feet, Swagger clobbers his back with a forearm, then rams his head off the barricade before grabbing him and sending him back into the ring. Swagger slides in, crawls over and hooks the legs.
"One!"
"Two-!"
Ryan kicks out at two this time.
Swagger shakes his head, then starts pummelling Ryan's head in with repeated rights before Ryan rolls them over and unloads with a fury of hard rights that force Swagger to cover himself up while the referee tries to pulls Ryan off and when that doesn't work he begins the five-count, with Ryan stopping and getting off Swagger once the referee reached four. Ryan flips his hair back before he grabs Swagger, who rakes his eyes with his fingers, making Ryan back off. Swagger takes advantage and drives his knee into the back of Ryan's, sending him down onto his back.
Grabbing his legs, Swagger drags Ryan over to the corner before walking back to the opposite one. He then runs, jumps up for the Swagger Bomb... BUT RYAN DRIVES HIS BOOT INTO SWAGGER'S FACE!
Swagger stumbles and falls to a knee, clutching his face as Ryan gets to his feet. Swagger gets to his and turns... INTO A GOOZLE! Ryan lifts Swagger up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!
Ryan stumbles a little, then flips his hair back and does the cutthroat taunt to a cheer from the fans before he grabs Cesaro and scoops him up onto his right shoulder. Ryan gets him upside down in front of him and... HITS THE TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER!
He crosses the arms over the chest and flips his head back for the pin! ONE! TWO! THREE! RYAN MAVERICK WINS HIS RAW DEBUT MATCH!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
The Vengeful One plays as Ryan gets to his feet. "Here is your winner... RYAN MAVERICK!" Lillian Garcia announced.
Ryan throws his arms up, the fans copying the gesture. He then looks to where Cesaro and Paul Heyman were, pointing at them then does the cutthroat taunt. Cesaro simply smirks in response and nods as Ryan takes his leaves.
And that's it for this chapter, people. Let me know what you think. By the way, do you want me to keep commentary for this and The Bladewolf of Destruction series? Because I honestly can't decide what is better.
