Friday Night SmackDown: 11/4/2014

Friday Night SmackDown was live at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana. Following a commercial break after the opening segment with John Cena and Bray Wyatt, the first match of the night was scheduled to be Ryan Maverick vs Cesaro.

'I'm the hand of GOD! I'm the Dark Messiah! I'm the Vengeful One!'

The Vengeful One by Disturbed hit to a huge pop from the crowd as Ryan Maverick walks out onto the stage and starts making his way down towards the ring, slapping a few fans' hands along the way before he rolls into the ring and gets to his feet. He paces around in the ring, then throws his arms up with the fans copying the gesture as Ryan went to each side of the ring and repeated the gesture.

His theme soon dies down and he takes off his jacket, handing it to a stagehand at ringside, and paces back and forth in the ring, staring at the entrance as he awaits his opponent.

"Ladies and gentlemen." The crowd boos as Paul Heyman walks out onto the stage. "My name is Paul Heyman and I am the advocate for the King of Swing, Cesaro!"

Cesaro walks out and stands beside Heyman.

"Now I think, it is no longer a theory nor a claim." Heyman started. "it's a proven fact. I, Paul Heyman, am the greatest manager in WWE or sports entertainment history. I engineered Brock Lesnar conquering the Undertaker's undefeated Streak. And when you are Brock Lesnar's advocate, you pick and choose clients very carefully. You're next client must be a sure thing. The next big thing. The King of Swing! I give to you... CESARO!"

Cesaro enters the ring, looking at Ryan who stares back. Cesaro takes off his jacket and the referee soon calls for the bell.

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

Before the physical action gets underway, Cesaro holds his hand out for a handshake which gets a raised eyebrow from Ryan. After a shrug, Ryan takes the hand and shakes it, giving Cesaro a nod, before they back up a little and circle each other.

They start with a lockup, but Ryan shoves Cesaro right back near the corner. Cesaro chuckles and nods at him as he gets up from his onee-knee position, and they circle each other again before engaging in another lock up with the same result of Ryan shoving Cesaro back. Ryan gives him a 'bring it on' gesture, making Cesaro nod before he charges at Ryan, who ducks underneath the incoming right hand, whirls around as Cesaro comes back, scoops him up and hits a powerslam. Ryan brings his elbow down onto Cesaro's chest, then hooks the leg but Cesaro kicks out at two.

Ryan gets to his feet and pulls Cesaro to hit, delivering a punch to the midsection, then a forearm across the back which sends Cesaro into the corner. Ryan walks over and lands a right to the stomach, then a left, then another right, then a left, right, left, right, left, right. He finishes it with a big right hand to the forehead, staggering Cesaro. Ryan eyes him, then lands another big right hand which drops Cesaro onto his back, and the King of Swing rolls out the ring.

Ryan exits the ring and brings his forearm across Cesaro's back again, then shoves the man into the barricade hard, making him yell out in pain. Ryan walks over and lands a quick right to the jaw, then tosses Cesaro back into the ring. Ryan slides in after him and goes to grab him but Cesaro lands a punch to his midsection, then another, then lands a n uppercut that staggers Ryan into the ropes and Cesaro clotheslines him over the top rope but Ryan lands on his feet.

Ryan grabs Cesaro's legs and drags him out of the ring, landing punch after punch which makes Cesaro cover himself up before the two begin slugging it out at ringside with Cesaro overpowering Ryan as he lands a right hand, followed by repeat uppercuts. He grabs Ryan and tosses him back into the ring before sliding in after him, walks over and goes to grab him... WHEN RYAN GRABS HIM BY THE THROAT!

Cesaro quickly breaks out the hold and darts from the ring, walking over to Paul Heyman while shaking his head. In the ring, Ryan paces back and forth, watching Cesaro and Heyman without so much as a blink.

"Take out his legs." Heyman told Cesaro. "Take out the power."

Cesaro nods and eyes Ryan who stares back as SmackDown goes to commercial break.

*After the commercial break*

SmackDown returns from the commercial break as Cesaro is working the legs of Ryan Maverick, currently in a kneebar submission hold while Ryan is grunting and yelling in pain, shaking his head at the referee asking him if he wanted to give up. Ryan looks around and sees the bottom rope not too far away, and begins scratching and clawing for it with Cesaro wrenching the hold in on his legs, causing Ryan to yell out painfully before he reaches... AND JUST BARELY MANAGES TO TOUCH THE BOTTOM ROPE!

The referee tells Cesaro, who holds the hold a little longer before releasing Ryan and gets to his feet. Cesaro delivers a few stomps to the legs, then brings his knee down on them repeatedly, bringing further damage to the New Reaper's legs. Cesaro pulls Ryan to his feet, with Ryan limping as he tries to move, but Cesaro lands a big uppercut that knocks him into the corner.

Ryan shakes his head and sees Cesaro charging, and quickly darts out of the way but Cesaro halts himself from colliding with the turnbuckle hard and turns into a right hand from Ryan, then another. Ryan limps off, stumbling a little due to the pain in his legs, before he pushes it to the side and charges at Cesaro with a yell only for Cesaro to boot him in the face, sending him to a knee. Cesaro then walks up behind him... AND CLINCHES IN THE SLEEPER HOLD!

Ryan fights back as best as he can, trying to pull Cesaro off him, but with how tight the Sleeper Hold was locked in, Ryan could feel his movements getting weaker, his legs buckling before he fell to a knee. The referee check on him as Ryan's movements get slower and slower before he stills.

The referee lifts Ryan's arm up then releases as it drops. "One!" He calls.

He raises the arm up again and releases it, for it to drop. "Two!"

He raises it for a third time, and the crowd start clapping and chanting for Ryan as they know that if the arm drops for a third time then Ryan is unconscious and Cesaro will win the match. The referee releases the arm... BUT IT STAYS UP IN THE AIR!

The crowd cheer as Ryan starts fighting, wrapping his arms around the back of Cesaro's legs as he fights to his feet with a surge of adrenaline. He charges towards the corner of the ring, turns at the last second... AND DRIVES CESARO BACK-FIRST INTO THE CORNER!

Cesaro releases Ryan due to the impact, and both are in the corner before Ryan limps forward a little, then turns around but quickly ducks a right from Cesaro who turns around... INTO A GOOZLE! Ryan lifts him up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!

Ryan falls onto his side, the pain in his legs coming back to him. He shakes his head a little before crawling over and hooks the leg! ONE! TWO! THRE-! Cesaro kicks out at two!

Ryan slowly gets back to his feet and limps over to the corner, stopping to take a breather for a moment, then gets out onto the apron and climbs to the top turnbuckle. He watches Cesaro, waiting until he had gotten back to his feet before he leaps off the turnbuckle... AND HITS A FLYING CLOTHESLI-NO! CESARO HITS A DROPKICK IN THE AIR!

Cesaro stumbles to his feet, shaking his head a little, then walks over to where Ryan was and grabs his legs. he was looking to do the Cesaro Swing! Just as Cesaro was about to start swinging Ryan around... RYAN PULLS HIM DOWN AND LOCKS IN THE HELL'S GATE SUBMISSION HOLD!

Cesaro yells as he frantically tries to get out of the hold, but Ryan has the hold locked in tight, yelling for Cesaro to tap. Just when it looks like Cesaro is about to tap out... JACK SWAGGER COMES IN AND ATTACKS RYAN MAVERICK!

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

The referee quickly calls for the bell to end the match by DQ as Swagger continues assaulting Ryan with stomps to the body and legs while the crowd boos heavily. Swagger pulls Ryan to his feet... WHEN RYAN GRABS HIM BY THE THROAT! Swagger fights out of it, only to get a big boot to the face which sends Swagger out of the ring through the middle rope/

As Ryan leans on the ropes, Cesaro attacks him from behind with clubbing blows to the back before he grabs him and pulls him in, lifts him up... AND HITS THE NEUTRALISER!

Ryan rolls onto his back, limp, as Cesaro gets to his feet and starts celebrating while Heyman claps for him at ringside.

Suddenly... RYAN SITS UP!

Ryan gets to his feet as Cesaro notices and goes to take him down but Ryan clobbers him once, then scoops him up onto his right shoulder, gets him into a very familiar position... AND HITS THE TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER!

Ryan stumbles to his feet and leans on the ropes, glaring at Cesaro, then in the direction Swagger left. His theme starts up as he leaves the ring and limps up the ramp to the back.
