Let's continue. Nuff said.
As another day passed, Tommy's parents were still searching for their missing boy.
Well, at least Deb was anyway.
In fact, she spent all day and night searching for him all over the Bay Area.
By the time she made it back to the house, she found a huge lineup at the front door.
"What's all this?" She asked.
"Word's gotten out that this place has an empty room available," said one bystander.
"WHAT?!?!"
Inside the house, Dwight was in Tommy's room giving the people a little tour.
"Yes, I'm here to ask about the room," said one man. "May I look it over?"
"Please, be my guest," Dwight insisted.
So he began to look around the room. "Hmm……not much space."
The man felt a tap on the shoulder from behind.
It was Deb. "It's not for rent!"
And she immediately pushed the 'customer' out of the room before angrily turning to her husband. "Dwight! What do you think you're doing?"
"What does it look like?" He questioned. "I'm making use of this empty space."
"You can't give away Tommy's room! What's going to happen when he comes back?"
"Honey, you read what he said in the letter. He doesn't want to come back. He's gone to find a new home."
"I don't care! You are not renting out his room or selling his stuff!"
Then she felt a tap on her shoulder from behind.
She turned around and saw another potential customer about to step into the room.
"Mind if I try it out?"
Deb immediately blocked the doorway. "It's not for rent!"
The man just gave a grunt and walked away.
Deb was getting very worried. "Oh, Tommy! I hope you're okay!"
Unfortunately, he wasn't.
Back in Royal Woods, Tommy was just slumping on the couch, flipping through the television with a bored expression.
Meanwhile, the Louds were eyeing him from the dining room.
"I'm really worried about Tommy, guys," Lincoln told them.
"I know, Linc," Luan said. "He's in pretty bad shape."
Everyone groaned.
"Luan, will you literally stop making jokes about his head?" Lori demanded.
"I'm being serious!" Luan defended. "All he's been doing is sitting on that couch flipping through channels."
"Well we can't have that," Lola (L) scoffed. "We've got enough depression in this house without someone else moping around. No offense, Lucy."
"Sigh, none taken."
"Lola (L) makes a good point though," Lynn stated. "We can't let Tommy stay if all he's going to do is slump and sulk."
"But what about our deal?" Leni reminded them. "We promised not to kick him out until he's ready to go home."
"Leni's right," Lincoln says. "But if Tommy's staying with us, he needs to do something else besides mope all day. Maybe we could do something to cheer him up."
That gave Lana an idea. "In that case, I know just the thing!"
The others looked at each other confused.
Momentarily, Lana took Tommy out to the backyard, glancing at a massive mud puddle all over.
"Just look at it, Tommy," she said. "Isn't it beautiful?"
"I guess so," shrugged Tommy. "Lana, why'd you bring me out here? Just to stand here and stare at a mud puddle?"
"Oh, we're not gonna just stare at it. We're gonna jump in it!"
This made the boy shocked. "What?! Are you serious?!"
"Aw, come on Tom. You'll love it." Just for a moment, before getting in, Lana sat on the ground and began removing her sneakers and socks from her feet.
"Uh…..any particular reason you took your shoes off?" Tommy asked uneasily.
"That's the best part! Watch this!"
Lana took a few steps back before sprinting towards the puddle. Once close enough, she leaped into the air for a…….
"CANNONBALL!!!!!"
Lana made a big splash in the mud. Tommy was fortunately able to dodge it. He then saw the young tomboyish toddler swimming around in the puddle as if it was a pool.
"Ah, slimy yet satisfying. Oh, how I love how the mud squishes between my toes."
"You call that fun?"
"You bet it is! The best part is wiggling your toes in it. Well, that and mom usually hates it when I track muddy shoes into the house. Come on in, Tommy. The mud is fine."
The boy was still hesitant. "I don't know. What if someone sees me?"
"We're the only ones out here. Who's going to see you?"
Tommy was still nervous, but was getting tired of just standing there doing nothing. "Eh……well…….that mud does look pretty inviting. Okay, I'll give it a go. Here I come!"
Tommy was about to jump in, but Lana halted him. "No fair," she said teasingly.
"What?"
Lana pointed towards Tommy, then to her own feet. Tommy looked down towards his own feet, getting the idea that she was encouraging him to take his shoes off.
"Oh, you can't be serious."
"Come on, Tommy. It won't hurt you."
Tommy refused. "Mmm-mmm!"
"Come on." (Lana can be very persuasive).
Ultimately, the boy gave in. "Oh, alright. I'll do it." Tommy sat down and took his shoes and socks off. Once that was done, he slowly stepped into the mud puddle, approaching Lana.
"Well, hello there," she said. "How does it feel?"
Tommy gave a small smile. "Slimy, yet satisfying."
"That's it." She then splashed some mud right into his face.
"Oh, hoho! You're gonna get it now!" Tommy laughs.
For a good while, they started throwing mud at each other and laughed while doing so.
After that, Tommy sighed as he rubbed the mud off his hands onto his shirt. "I gotta admit. That was kinda fun."
Lana giggled. "Hey Tommy, look what you did to your stomach."
Tommy looked down and saw that his T-shirt was all dirty. "Aw man! That was my favorite shirt."
"Don't worry, I got this." Lana stood up and walked towards the house.
"Uh, Lana? What are you doing?"
"I'm getting you cleaned up. Relax." Lana went over to the garden hose and began pointing it towards Tommy. Tommy knew what she was planning and immediately got worried.
"Turnbull, quarter pocket!"
"Whoa! Hold on. Maybe we could just—." But it was too late. Lana turned on the hose and sprayed him with it (much to his displeasure). "Hey! That's cold!"
"Hey! What's going on here?"
The two looked to see Lincoln and the others (along with RobotBoy) standing on top the stairs of the back door.
Lana hid the hose behind her back, innocently. "Oh nothing. We were just having a little fun. Right Tommy?"
"I'm wet!"
"Right."
Lincoln rolled his eyes. "I'm just glad she's enjoying herself. At least someone's having fun."
"It wasn't too bad," Tommy replied. "But if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go in and dry off."
Tommy walked into the house all soaking wet.
Inside, some of the kids (i.e. Lincoln, Luna, Leni Lola (L) and Lisa) were drying him off with a hairdryer.
"Sorry about that, Tommy," said Lincoln. "Lana can get a bit carried away sometimes."
Lola (L) rolled her eyes. "More than sometimes is more like it."
"It's okay, guys," Tommy replied. "I get what you're trying to do. You just wanted to cheer me up. It's real nice of you, but I don't think it's going to make the pain inside me go away."
"Isn't there anything we can do?" Asked Luna.
"Not unless you can change the past."
Leni thought she would try and cheer him up. "You know, Tommy. In times like this, Lola (L) always says 'you gotta leave your past in your behind'." But the way she worded it didn't sound right. "Or was it……"
"Leni, that's not even remotely correct," Lisa criticized.
"I'll handle this," Lola (L) says, stepping forward. "It's you gotta let go of your past. Look bub, bad things happen and you can't do anything about it, right?"
"Right."
"Wrong! When the world hands you lemons, you squeeze them into the eyes of the world!"
"I'm pretty sure that's not how it goes," Tommy replied.
"Look, all we're trying to say is that you gotta try and forget about your troubles for a while," Lincoln stated.
"I don't know if I can. But thanks anyway."
Once Tommy was all dry, he headed down the stairs where the others (along with RobotBoy) were flipping through the tv channels (with bored expressions).
"Hey guys," Tommy greeted. "Whatcha watching?"
"Nothing," Lily answered.
"There's literally nothing on today," Lori said with a moan.
Then suddenly, one of the channels they skimmed through caught Tommy's attention. "Wait! Go back a few channels!"
The girls went back to the aforementioned channel, which happened to be Tommy's favorite show.
"Alright! The Human Fist! Awesome!"
RobotBoy was happy as well. "Yeah!"
Soon enough, Lincoln and the rest of the group came down from up the stairs.
"What kind of show is this?" Lola (L) questions.
Tommy got a little flabbergasted by that. "You guys have never seen the Human Fist before? He's one of the greatest heroes ever! Next to Robotboy, of course."
"Who in their right mind would be looney enough to sit through a program regarding a man in spandex with an oversized manus?" Lisa criticized.
"Give it a chance. Trust me. You're gonna love it."
Reluctantly, the Louds all took a seat and decided to give it a try.
"Are we really just gonna sit through this?" Lola (L) muttered.
"Hey, if it keeps Tommy happy, let's just roll with it," Lincoln encouraged.
"Whatever," Lynn groaned. "It can't be that good."
But several episodes later, the Loud kids started getting into it and were pretty fascinated.
By the end of the last episode, the kids were left stunned.
"That……was……..AWESOME!!!!!!" They shouted.
"Man, if I had known this show was available in our state, I would've watched it sooner," said Lynn.
"Told ya," Tommy replied. "I never knew they showed it here!"
"And you know, Tommy?" Luan asked. "I don't think we've seen you smile like this before."
"Yeah, it's been a while," Tommy said with a sigh. "It feels pretty good."
"Hey, you know what we haven't done in a while? A Louds night out! What do you guys say we have a bit of fun tonight?" Lincoln suggested. "Get a little crazy? We can show Tommy around Royal Woods, maybe take him to some of our favorite places."
"I'm down for that, bro!" Luna nudged.
RobotBoy flew into the crowd. "RobotBoy want in! Want get down!"
Tommy was hesitant. "I don't know, Ro. What if someone sees you?"
"Don't worry. I got it covered." Leni took out a mint green hoodie and put it on RobotBoy. "There! Problem solved."
"Thank you," RobotBoy said.
"You sure this is gonna work?" Tommy asked.
"Trust us," Lynn assured. "You can put anyone in a hoodie and no one will notice the difference. Now let's stop wasting a get going."
"I think this calls for a montage," said Lisa.
So throughout the rest of the night, the Loud kids took Tommy and RobotBoy out to go have some fun.
The first place they started was the Royal Woods mall.
Lincoln took Tommy over to the comic book store, where they each had found a book of their interest.
Meanwhile, some of the girls took RobotBoy to some of the clothing shops, where he was trying on different styles and outfits and looking at them in a mirror, which he enjoyed.
Luna then took the boys to Tall Timbers park, where she held a small concert with her band: The Moon Goats.
But that wasn't all.
There was no limit to where they went and did.
Luan told them some jokes at the Chortle Portal Comedy club.
Lori treated them to mini golfing at Hole-in-One-derland.
Lucy took them to the graveyard (which was a little unsettling).
The twins took RobotBoy for a ride in Lola (L)'s jeep.
And so much more.
They even stopped at a few places for a bite to eat, such as Aunt Pam's and the Burpin' Burger.
After all that, when the sun came down, the Louds, Tommy and RobotBoy all sat in the living room, feeling satisfied.
"Man, I'm stuffed!" Sighed Lynn.
"Me too," Lana agreed. "I ate like a pig."
"And you act like one too," Lola (L) muttered.
"Gotta say, it's amazing how much stuff you can literally do in a single night," Lori said.
"You know, the night is still young," Lincoln says. "What else can we do?"
"Hmmm……" Tommy began to think and came up with an idea of his own.
Suddenly, in the backyard, Lily came dangling down from a tree, tied up in rope.
"Help! Help!" She cried. "Somebody help me!"
Then Tommy stepped in, dressed as the Human Fist, complete with an oversized fist. "Let her go, evil Arc-dictator!"
Then Lincoln stepped on a platform, dressed in an overcoat with an eyepatch. While Lynn, Lisa, Lana and Luna were standing around him like his minions.
"Never!" He shouted. "You must choose, Human fist! How shall she suffer? Shark? Or death by felines?"
The traps were none other than the Louds' pets, with Charles the dog as the shark and Cliff the cat as a ferocious tiger.
"Choose!"
Finally, Tommy came up with an answer. "I choose……..RobotBoy!"
RobotBoy came dashing out of a cardboard box on a skateboard.
"What?!" Lincoln said with shock. "That's not a choice!"
"RobotBoy to rescue!"
RobotBoy rode across the yard, up a ramp and tackled Lincoln to the ground.
Tommy then used the giant fist to shake the tree, allowing Lily to fall into his arms. "I got you, young lady."
Lily kissed his cheeks. "My hero!"
"And the human fist saves the day again! But I couldn't have done it without the help of RobotBoy!"
"Heroes, unite!"
The two then fist bump each other.
At the end, everyone was lying back in the grass looking up at the stars.
"Best night ever!" Said Lily.
"We should definitely do things like this more often," said Leni.
Tommy gave a big happy sigh. "You know, for a bunch of crazy girls, you're not so bad. Kinda makes me wish I had a sister or two. Instead of getting stuck with a psychopathic brother."
"Trust me, Tommy," Lincoln said. "Being in a family with all boys isn't all it's cracked up to be. I once had a dream about having 10 brothers, and it was a nightmare! Sure, some of my sisters act like boys and can be a bit rough, but I wouldn't trade them for anything."
"Aaawwwwww!" The girls were all flattered.
Tommy shrugged. "Well I may not have a sister, but at least I was never alone."
"Did you have any other friends back in the Bay Area?" Lincoln asked him.
"I do have a couple actually. They're some of the greatest friends I've ever had. And the only other two who know about RobotBoy."
"I'll bet you three had some pretty rad times together," Luna said with a nudge.
"We sure did." Tommy chuckled at that, but then something else came to his mind. "I….. I wonder if they even know I'm gone."
What Tommy didn't know was that they had.
Gus and Lola (M) were still flying in the jet. And by this time, they had finally reached the Michigan border.
"We made it!" Lola (M) declared.
"Ugh, finally! It's about time!" Groaned Gus. "So where's Tommy?
"We still have to look for him.""
"WHAT?!?" Gus groaned again, even louder. "I don't believe it! This is taking forever, Lola (M). And there ain't no inflight movie or nothing."
"Gus, we've only reached the state border. We've still got a ways to go."
"Alright, alright, I get it. I'm just so darn bored!"
"Well then find a way to entertain yourself."
Gus remained quiet for a few minutes as Lola (M) kept driving.
Sadly, that moment of silence didn't last.
"Okay, this is taking too long. I'm taking the wheel."
Gus immediately shoved Lola (M) out of the way and took control of the jet.
"Gus, what do you know about flying a jet?" She criticized.
"Relax, Lola (M). The G-Man knows flight controls like the back of his hand." Then something immediately distracted him. "Oooh! What does this button do?"
Lola (M) knew exactly what it did and became shocked at that moment. "NO!! DON'T!!! THAT'S!!!!!"
But it was too late. Gus pressed the button and something big and bulky fell out the back of the jet.
Lola (M) was not amused. "That released the gas tank."
Suddenly the jet stopped in midair and began to plummet out of the sky.
"Gus, if we survive and you somehow get a driver's license, I'm taking the bus."
The jet finally plunged into the forest and then sank into the pond.
Lola (M) trudged out of the pond, emptied the water out of her boots and shook the weeds out of her hair. As you can imagine, this was not one of her favorite experiences.
It wasn't long before Gus rose from the swamp. "Well, that could've gone bet-."
"Shut up!" Lola interrupted. "Just shut up, you idiot!"
"Lola (M), this is no time to panic."
"This is a perfect time to panic! We're lost, Tommy is gone, the jet is sunk at the bottom of the swamp and it's all your fault!"
Gus was taken aback. "What? My fault! Tommy was the one who ran away in the first place!"
"Well you crashed the one thing we needed to find him!"
"Well then maybe you shouldn't have let me drive it at all."
"Let you?! You took over the wheel and had no idea what you were doing! If you were driving anything else, you probably wouldn't even know how to turn the engine on!"
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah!"
"Well excuse me for trying to offer my services."
Lola (M) growled. "You know what? Why do I even let you tag along? I don't even know why Tommy's friends with you! You're such dead weight!"
Lola (M) began stomping away, when something caught her attention.
The first was a dent in a tree shaped like a small humanoid robot and the other was a trail of footprints.
"Hey! Wait a minute!" She observed. "That dent is shaped just like RobotBoy!" She then took a closer look at the footprints. "And these prints are from Tommy's sneakers."
"How can you tell they're his?" Asked Gus.
"I know these tracks anywhere. Tommy's got to be here! Come on, Gus!"
Lola (M) ran after the tracks.
Gus got out of the pond and followed suit.
"Hang on, Tommy! We're coming for you!"
And that's all for now.
Now if you haven't noticed already, you may have seen at the beginning that I've been putting down/poking fun at Dwight (Tommy's Father), portraying him as a dimwitted, arrogant, somewhat abusive favoritist.
To those first readers or newcomers unfamiliar with Robotboy, this may seem unfair to degrade a certain character. But to those who have watched the show (including myself), this is an accurate portrayal of the character, as Dwight isn't exactly the best role model as a parent when compared to Deb. Let's just say he makes Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin look like Hugh Neutron and Dr Doofenshmirtz. Heck, I'd even say Gus has more charm and redeeming qualities.
(as they say: don't shoot the messenger.)
I could go on about that character's issues, but that's for some other time.
For now, stay tuned, review and follow, and catch you next time.
