I let out a long sigh. I was not looking forward to doing high school again. On the bright side it was the last time I would be doing it.
Looking at the map I was given, I wandered around the school familiarizing myself with the different buildings and hallways.
Right at the 7:50a bell, I found myself in front of the first classroom.
I walked into the classroom to find it empty, about to walk back out only for an adult I assumed to be Mr Varner walked in. He looked like a weasel. Think mustache, buckteeth and thin rectangular spectacles on the tip of his nose.
"You must be the new student, Isabella Swan."
I nodded, "Yes, Mr Varner." I looked out at the seats, "I assume there's assigned seating, where may I sit?"
He shuffled past and set his satchel on his desk before taking out a clipboard from a drawer. Looking over it. He looked back at me, "Second seat to the left second row."
"Thank you." I nodded toward him before making my way to the seat and sitting before I began taking out my new Calculus textbook, notebook, mechanical pencil and eraser (I smiled at the friendly eraser shaped like a hot pink triceratops).
Folding my hands in my lap I waited patiently for the class to begin.
The students filtered in one by one each pausing to look wide-eyed at me before sitting in their assigned seats.
As Mr Varner began writing several practice equations on the whiteboard, I opened my notebook and got busy with them. Barely noticing as the other students filled in around me, it was only when one on my right froze standing and felt a penetrating gaze on the top of my head. I could only imagine who it might be, taking a deep breath I thought, 'Here we go.'
"Mr Cullen, sit down class is about to begin." The voice of the teacher was harsher than necessary but the shadow overlooking me sat down at the seat to my right.
The rest of class went off without a hitch except for the obvious staring of one Mr Edward Cullen. At the bell I stood and glanced at my schedule only for a silky smooth voice to speak close to my ear.
"It seems you are in most of my classes."
I glanced at him and blinked as I was blinded by what I'm sure was a dazzle worthy grin. Too bad for Edward I'd faced beings with much higher thralls than his.
He looked like a sculpture come to life. High cheekbones, noble nose and plush lips. His beauty so obviously unreal I wondered how they ever passed as human in the first place. His gaze was amber and thankfully didn't look hungry, course I doubted he'd still be before me if he was.
He offered his hand to me to shake. I didn't wish to be rude or suspicious so I took his hand. Ice cold but expected. I shook it firmly.
"I'm Edward Cullen, and you are?"
"Isa Swan." I took my hand back and quickly put away my things into my leather backpack. Before nodding to him, "Excuse me." And swiftly made my way to Mr Varner to sign my admission paper. I nodded toward the teacher in respect, "Thank you Mr Varner."
"Of course Isabella."
I turned and made my way out of the classroom and down the hall towards the exit so I could go to Bldg 6.
Quick steps came after me and soon Edward was striding by my side. Honestly I was surprised I wasn't expecting him to be interested so quickly, I thought he'd at least be a bit wary at first.
"Isabella?"
I side-eyed him, "I prefer Isa."
We were silent for the rest of the trot to the next class.
A Miss Lewis taught American History.
And I found myself sitting between a Cullen and a Hale.
Honey blonde hair, more neat than Edward's, curling slightly behind his ears. Softer but no less nobler features that looked as if cut from stone.
Jasper Hale seemed to relax from his pained tense posture as soon as I sat in the seat between him and Edward. His amber eyes widening in surprise even as he almost slumped into his chair, an expression almost like a lazy cat in a patch of sunlight.
I wonder what I smelled like to them. Not that I'd ever ask but it was kind of fun to think about.
I had a break from Cullen and Hales for my AP Computer Sciences class which I greatly enjoyed. It was taught by a exuberant teacher, Ms Twain, who was passionate about teaching. It was a refreshing break for I had Rosalie Hale in my AP English class.
Her reaction was by far the most interesting. We were seated on other sides of the classroom but she had to pass my desk to get to hers. She stiffened as she past me, a small hitch in her breath had me glancing up only for her to shift her eyes away quickly. If she could have I believe she would have cried. Another near hour of feeling the occasional stares in my direction that were far more intense than the curious glances of students looking at the new arrival.
P.E. was back with Edward and this time Alice Cullen.
As I lined up with the other students getting picked for teams of volleyball I could just make out Edward speaking in low tones to Alice who kept glancing my way bouncing on her toes excitedly.
It all ended up being not very eventful and then it was lunch which I promptly escaped the students heading for the cafeteria and made my way to my car to have a peaceful lunch where I could recharge.
