Since it's Thanksgiving, I imagined Susie's first Thanksgiving as Tommy's girlfriend (Yes, this couple often appears in my stories and I like this idea)
Well, as usual you know that I don't own Rizzoli and Isles whether in TV or literary version, etc etc, you are used to that.
I remind you that English is not my native language and that Thanksgiving is not celebrated in my country
This story is mine, the mistakes are mine and this story is totally out of my imagination.

Jane and Maura's House
Tommy and Susie were standing outside the door and Susie was standing nervously next to Tommy Rizzoli, squeezing his hand a little too tightly. This was her first Thanksgiving with the Rizzoli family, and she couldn't help but feel like an intruder since she had only been with Tommy for a few months. Sure, she had worked with Jane, Maura, Vince, Frankie, and Nina for years and she had talked to Angela many times at Division One, but this was her first holiday as a member of the Rizzoli family and she was a little nervous. Tommy whispered to Susie:
"Don't worry, my whole family loves you, sure we are a little special but everything is going to be okay"
But Susie wasn't convinced. She had heard so many stories about the Rizzoli family dinners, and she was worried she wouldn't measure up
When Tommy and Susie entered, the house was already filled with laughter and lively conversation.
Angela Rizzoli, the matriarch, was busy in the kitchen with her husband Vince Korsak, who was trying to help her without getting in her way, and she was being helped by her grandson TJ, who had wanted to spend the day with his nonna to help her prepare Thanksgiving dinner. Jane and her wife Maura were chatting happily with Frankie and his wife Nina, whose baby bumps were a sign of their upcoming happiness.
Tommy said
"Ma! We're here!"
Angela appeared before them, a warm smile on her face and said,
"Welcome Susie!"
Susie smiled shyly and said,
"Thank you very much , Mrs. Rizzoli. I'm so glad to be here."
Angela took Susie's hands in hers and said,
"Susie! How many times do I have to tell you to call me Angela? You're Tommy's girlfriend so you're family and the people in my children's lives call me Angela. I hope you're hungry, because we've got a feast coming!"
Tommy said,
"My cooking always felt like it could feed an army and of course there was a certain someone who I won't name who loved it when she was a teenager."
Jane said
"I heard you Tommy! And even if I was the same weight I was then, I still would kick your ass!"
Angela said harshly
"Speak Jane! Just because we're at your house doesn't give you the right to talk like that especially when TJ is around and as for you Tommy, don't talk about how much your sister weighed when she was a teenager. Today is a holiday and it's Susie's first holiday with us and everything has to be okay! Do you understand me?"
Jane and Tommy said
"Yes Ma!"
Then Angela said
"Tommy, Frankie, Jane, come help TJ!
We're coming Ma"
Maura stood up and greeted Susie and said softly,
"Don't worry, we've all been new to the Rizzoli family at one point and I can tell you that you're already part of the family. Right Nina?"
Absolutely, if you weren't part of it, I can tell you that Angela would treat you differently and she would never be so affectionate towards you if she didn't love you
That's right, I saw how Angela reacted with some of Jane's boyfriends that she didn't like and I can tell you that they understood very quickly that Angela didn't like them"
Susie asked Nina
"How is your pregnancy going? I can tell you that TJ is very impatient to know if he's going to have a cousin
Everything is fine, thank you, we're waiting until I'm in my fifth month of pregnancy to find out
And would you like to have a girl or a boy?
I would like to have a girl and Frankie would like a boy but I know that in fact it doesn't matter to him as long as everything is going well. If we have a girl, I can tell you that Frankie will be the happiest man in the world
Frankie told me that you really wanted to become a detective
Yes but now with my pregnancy it's impossible. It doesn't matter, I'll continue at my current job. I'll have a better job, I'll become a mother"
Susie smiled and said
"I hope to know that one day"
Nina said laughing softly
"It will happen but don't say it in front of Angela otherwise she won't stop asking you when Tommy and you are having children, it's already surprising that she hasn't asked when Tommy and you are going to get married"
Susie laughed too and felt a wave of relief overwhelm her. Maybe this Thanksgiving wouldn't be so scary after all. Then Nina got up and went to help set the table and Frankie said
"Honey, you should rest, there are enough people"
Nina said after placing a light kiss on her husband's lips
"I'm fine love of my life! I'm at the beginning of my pregnancy, I'm not made of crystal and I can set the table"
Angela said
"Don't worry Frankie, Nina is in great shape. You know when I was pregnant with Tommy, I took care of everything and I had a normal pregnancy and then Maura can confirm that Nina is fine.
Frankie, I can swear to you that Nina's pregnancy is perfect.
I know Maura but I can't help but worry about Nina and the baby"
Angela said to Susie
"It's a characteristic of the Rizzoli siblings, they always worry about the people they love and Tommy must have shown you that and you'll see when you're pregnant, he won't let you go! That's what Frankie is doing with Nina now."
Once the table was set, everyone got ready to start eating and Susie said:
"Excuse me if I'm rude, but you don't say what you're grateful for?»
Angela made a placating gesture to show that everything was fine and said
"Normally this is what happens in normal families but you are in the Rizzoli family"
Angela pointed at Jane, Frankie and Tommy and said
"And I dare you to stop these three characters from eating when they are hungry"
Jane pretending to be offended said
"Ma!"
Then we heard Jane's stomach gurgling and everyone laughed and Angela said:
" So ! Now you understand what I mean Susie"
Susie smiling said
"Yes, I understand"
Angela served everyone and the dinner was happy and cheerful and Susie was completely relaxed and happy that TJ wanted to sit next to her. Family stories, jokes and teasing filled the room with a comforting warmth.
Thanksgiving dinner was coming to a close, and the house was filled with laughter and lively conversation. Susie, now finally felt comfortable among this warm family.
Angela stood up and announced,
"It's time for dessert! TJ and I made apple pie and pumpkin pie. Who wants some?"
Hands immediately shot up, and Angela began serving the generous portions.
Tommy leaned over to Susie and said
"See, I told you everything would be okay."
Susie smiled and nodded and said
Yes, you were right. Your family is truly amazing."
Jane, who had been watching the scene, came over with Maura and asked with a laugh
"So, Susie, how do you like our little family chaos?"
Susie replied with a bright smile,
"It's wonderful. I've never felt such warmth and togetherness. My Thanksgivings with my family were also very joyous times but this one was really special."
Maura says
"When I celebrated my first Rizzoli Thanksgiving I was really surprised, it was unlike anything I had ever experienced. Jane's whole family accepted me and made me feel comfortable even though Jane and I were just friends but Angela immediately considered me a member of her family."
Nina comes and says
"I had the same apprehension as you, in my family too Thanksgiving was happy and when I arrived in Boston I thought I would celebrate it alone but Frankie told me to come with him so that I could spend this holiday with them, that's when I fell in love with him and Frankie fell in love with me and when I arrived everyone accepted me and I can tell you that neither Maura nor I would give up a Rizzoli family celebration for anything in the world
Maura adds:
"We are glad that you feel comfortable here. You are already part of the family. »
Frankie, who was serving Nina a slice of apple pie, said
"And soon there will be a new member of the Rizzoli family. You've only just arrived and you'll soon be Aunt Susie!"
Then Frankie placed a loving hand on Nina's belly, who smiled radiantly.
Vince said
"Susie, I know what you're thinking because I too wondered what it would be like to be in this family. Sure, I knew them well already but now I was really entering the intimacy of this family and I've never regretted it."
After dessert, Angela stood up and said
"Before we end this evening, I would like us to pray to the Lord to thank him for the wonderful meal we just had and then each one will say what they are grateful for this year."
Angela said a prayer of thanks and everyone said it along with her, even Maura who was not a believer but respected Angela's sincere faith and then after the prayer, Angela as the matriarch of the Rizzoli family spoke up and said:
"I am grateful for this incredible family and for my husband Vince, you bring me so much happiness and love"
Vince smiled and added:
"I am grateful for my wife Angela, who loves me like the first day and I am grateful for this family that always surprises me and thanks to them I had the joy and happiness of being a grandfather"
Jane smiled and said
"I am grateful for Maura, who is not only my wonderful wife but also my best friend and for her infinite love. And for this family that always supports me."
Maura took Jane's hand and said
"I am grateful for Jane, who taught me what love really means and for this family that showed me what family love is. And for all the moments we share together."
Frankie said smiling and looking at Nina,
"I am grateful for my wonderful wife Nina who is pregnant with our first child, for this baby that we are eagerly awaiting and I am also grateful for this family that is always there no matter what we do. This year has been full of blessings."
Nina placed a hand on her pregnant belly and smiled tenderly looking at her husband and said
"I am grateful for Frankie, who is my rock, who is the love of my life and for our future child. I am excited to see what the future holds and I am grateful for this family that has already planned everything for the rest of my pregnancy and for my delivery."
Tommy turned to Susie and TJ and said
"I am grateful for my son TJ who is a wonderful and very intelligent son and I am grateful for Susie. You two bring so much joy to my life. And I am grateful for this family who welcomed Susie with such warmth and who always support me"
Susie, moved, took a deep breath and said
"I am grateful for Tommy, who introduced me to this incredible family and for his love, for TJ who is a very sweet little boy and who I love and for each and every one of you, who made me feel welcome from the first moment."
After Susie expressed her gratitude, Tommy turned to his son TJ, who was sitting next to Susie and said
"TJ, do you want to tell me what you are grateful for this year?"
TJ, a little shy but encouraged by the warm smiles around the table, took a deep breath
"I am grateful for my dad and for all my family because you always play with me and teach me so much. And I am grateful for Susie, because she is very kind to me and because she makes very good cookies!"
The family burst into laughter and applauded TJ for his adorable speech. Angela added,
"And we're all grateful for you, TJ, because you bring so much joy and laughter to our home."
Everyone raised their glasses in unison and the house echoed with laughter and joy again. Susie knew now that she had found her place among the Rizzolis, and she couldn't wait to make new memories with them.
