I've always felt like Aang's firebending training was rushed and cut too short. We also don't get any of the inner turmoil Zuko must be going through with leaving everything behind, so this is my retelling of the second half of season 3.

ZUTARA WEEK 2024, Day Five: Melody. They never imagined that the lyrics that were stuck in their heads would someday tell the story of their own journey. Music had a way of turning the unexpected into something truly wonderful.

In the year 96AG, a freshly banished 13-year-old Prince Zuko discovers a strange boy frozen in an iceberg. When Zhao interferes with Zuko's plans to deliver the Avatar to Ozai, Aang helps Zuko and Iroh escape. ZUTARA WEEK 2024, Day Four: Reverence. For the Avatar to be an inspirational figure was expected. And even being one of his masters or friends accorded one some level of prominence. But Katara surpassed all of that and made a name for herself that was reflective of her own, unassailable values.

ZUTARA WEEK 2024, Day Three: Echoes. Katara and Zuko stumble upon a hidden section of the Western Air Temple, where they must confront voices of the past and find a way to the face the future.

Aang has a run-in with his idol, Azula.

He always unconsciously searched for those eyes. Beautiful eyes full of love and passion like hers. The only way he realized that, was when news broke to him that she had already moved on.
