A/N: Greetings readers. It's me coming at you with a new story. A Pokemon one as you can see. I hope you like it. Now I know I haven't really been keeping up with updates, and I'm sorry for that. But real life stuff you know. Anyway, without further ado, here is my new adventure in the wonderous world of Pokemon.
'Ugh, what hit me?' I thought. As I slowly but surely opened my eyes.
Only to immediately close them a second later, since the moment I opened him my vision was filled with sunlight. Which did not do me any favors in regards the the pounding headache I currently have.
One that thankfully started to subside as the minutes passed. Until it had completely and utterly vanished. Once this happened I opened my eyes again, but slowly this time. Just to make sure I didn't have a repeat of my first performance.
Which thankfully I didn't.
Meaning I was able to open my eyes fully without any issues.
Then after I accomplished this I slowly began to sit up, only to stop before I even got halfway.
Why you ask?
It was because I got a good look at my surroundings.
Which was a small clearing in a forest.
A thing that shouldn't be. Since I distinctly remember-Wait, no I don't.
As I searched my memories to recall how I might've ended up here in the clearing I realized I couldn't. In fact past a certain point last night it seems I don't have memories in regards to anything. It's all just blank. But that doesn't make sense. Since although I was drinking and getting drunk there was no way I got so drunk I wouldn't be able to recall at least one small thing on how I ended up here last night. But again, I got nothing, nada, zilch. I'm coming up entirely empty.
"Damn. Did I drink more than I thought last night?" I asked myself. Since that's the only explanation for how I ended up in my current situation.
Well not the only explanation, but at the moment it's the one that makes the most amount of sense to me.
And if by chance my current explanation I am thinking of doesn't explain how I ended up my current situation then, I might be in deep shit.
As I contemplated this I suddenly lost my train of thought when a note literally materialized out of thin air right atop my lap.
Turning my attention toward it I picked it up and started reading it, becoming shocked my very core at the contents of the note.
[Dear reader, it's me your friendly Random Omnipotent Being or R.O.B. for short. I know you have questions about your current situation and as the one responsible for placing you in your current situation it's only right I give you the answers you are seeking. So, simply put you died. Yes, died. I know this must come as a big shock to you, especially since you don't remember dying, but that is because I sealed off any and all memories related to your death. Since having such thoughts rolling around in your head would definitely break your mind, and we can't have that. Especially not after I took the trouble of sending you to an entirely new world. Yes, a new world. And one that was once simply a fictional one at that. Which world you ask? Why its one of your all time favorite ones since childhood, Pokemon. Oh yes, you are now a resident of the world of Pokemon. If you want to thank and praise me then go right ahead, I won't stop you. No seriously, a little gratitude would be appreciated. Especially since now you get to live out your childhood dream of becoming a Pokemon trainer. Aren't I grand? Trick question, I know I am. I am an R.O.B. after all. But enough self-praising, back to the important things. So once again, you are now in the world of Pokemon. Second, other than the memories surrounding your death you have access to all your others. Especially in regards to all Pokemon related lore be it from the manga, videogames, anime, etc. I've actually strengthened your memories in regards to all things Pokemon and given you total recall where its concerned. I'm curious to see what you'll do with it. Third, why I did this. Simple. It's because I wanted to. For once again I'm an R.O.B. and all that jazz. So yeah. To finish up, enjoy your new life in the world of Pokemon and I hope you don't die again for a long time.
Yours truly, R.O.B.
PS: Be prepared. There a few things in this version of the Pokemon world that are different from anything you know about it. And of course I could tell you what they are, but where would be the fun in that?
PSS: Hope you like your new look.
PSSS: Now that you have finished reading this note it will disappear]
Then as soon as I finished reading the last line of the note it truly did disappear.
Turning into particles of light it vanished without a trace.
Leaving me completely and utterly alone once more.
...
...
...
" .Fuck?"
Pokemon. I died and got reincarnated into the world of Pokemon. Which apparently according to the ROB's note has differences I didn't see in any sort of Pokemon related lore or material in my previous life. Which again is now over, since apparently I died. Meaning I'll never be able to see my parents, or my brothers again. Nor my friends or colleagues from work.
Okay, so maybe not so much my work colleagues but my family and friends...
Thinking about them I couldn't help but find myself thinking about all the good times we shared together. Only to find myself surprised once again in as many minutes. Since when I thought my family and friends I could only recall that I had them. I couldn't remember their names nor their faces.
"What the hell ROB!?" I shouted at the top my lungs.
Bastard neglected to mentioned he messed with even more of my memories in that note.
"Asshole." I muttered.
I then sighed before bringing my knees up and placing my elbows atop them, before placing my face in my hands. Wondering what the hell I'm supposed to do now. I mean sure, if what the ROB is saying is true, if the ROB is even real at all and this isn't just some really weird drunken dream I am having, then I am in the world of Pokemon. But again even if that is true I have no money, no food, no friends or allies to help me out, nor an idea where I even am. All I have is the clothes on my back.
"How the hell am I supposed to survive in this world with just that huh?" I asked myself.
Rustle Rustle*
Only to stop focusing on myself when I heard rustling coming from the bushes in front of me. When I did I turned my attention to it. Then a second after I did a figure stepped out in front of me, and I had to do all I could to keep my jaw from hitting the ground. Since the person who is now standing before me is one of the most iconic people in the entire Pokemon franchise. It is none other thantheeProfessor Samuel Oak. The former champion of the Indigio region and one of the the most well-respected Pokemon professors and researchers in the entire Pokemon world.
Who looks just as he did most of the times he made his appearance in the anime.
Gray hair, brown eyes, with his attire consisting of his red button shirt, his brown pants, dark-brown shoes, and his iconic white lab coat.
'Well, looks like the ROB wasn't lying after all.'I thought.
I truly now am a resident of the world of Pokemon.
Nice.
"Hello there young man." Oak spoke to me.
When he did I was pulled out of my own thoughts, regarding I was actually living in the Pokemon world, and focused all of my attention back on him. I then stood to my feet. "Yes, hello to you Professor Oak." I replied. "And let me say what an honor it is to meet you."
"Why thank you young man." Oak replied. Putting a soft smile on his face afterwards.
Which just seeing put my scrambled thoughts and emotions regards my situation at ease. But I guess that's the power of one of your favorite anime characters for you. Or maybe it's just me. Either way, I feel a little bit better.
"So, let me ask you, what brings you all the way to Pallet Town?" He asked.
"Wait Pallet Town. That is where I am?" I asked. Oak nodding his head in confirmation.
"You are indeed." He replied.
"Huh. Good to know." I replied.
I also realized the ROB maybe didn't screw me over as passed as I initially assumed. Not if he placed me near Pallet Town and arraigned this encounter with Professor Oak. Since there is no way I am gullible enough to believe this encounter between the two of us right now was simply chance.
Oh no. Not by a longshot.
"I see. So that means you have business in town then?" Oak asked.
"Yes, it does." I replied. "Actually my business is specifically with you professor Oak." I told him. "You see I made the journey here to Pallet Town because I wanted to discuss with you about me becoming a Pokemon trainer." I explained. Lying through my teeth so smoothly it would probably make the Dao of bullshit cry tears of happiness.
Since there is absolutely no way I can tell Professor Oak how I really ended up meeting him. Plus, even if I did would he even actually believe me? Wait, actually he might considering all the strange and mysterious things he's seen Pokemon do in his lifetime. I mean this guy traveled between the past and future at one point in time.
That is if the Pokemon movies are canon in this universe.
Which is a whole other can of worms, or I guess can of Caterpie now, in and of itself. Since in the ROB's note he stated he strengthened my memories regarding Pokemon lore in regards to all of its aspects. Games, anime, and everything else. Meaning this world is likely a combination of all of them. Not to mention those changes the ROB mention at the end of his note that weren't related to any Pokemon material in my last life.
So in layman's terms I have no idea what kind of Pokemon world I am in.
Which sucks, but at the same time also makes me excited.
But I can focus on that latter. Right now I need to focus on bullshitting Professor Oak.
Boy, I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would ever be in this situation, but well here I am so yeah.
"Understood." Oak replied. "Well then if that is the case before we continue our conversation let us move to a more comfortable setting. Follow me please."
Nodding at the professors words I followed behind him, and in just a few minutes the two of us exited the forest and I found myself on a small hill overlooking the iconic Pallet Town.
Which I have to the the anime, manga, and especially the games, did not do justice. The place is more beautiful in real life than I ever thought possible.
And if that's the case with Pallet Town, I can't wait to see how it is with the rest of the Pokemon world.
Oh and speaking of Pallet I can't help but wonder how old our original iconic Pokemon protagonist Ash Ketchum is at the moment. Since knowing that should give me a rough estimate of where I am in the timeline. I hope. Unless Ash doesn't exist here like in the games and in several of the manga series. Then I might be slightly screwed.
Ugh, so many variables, so little time.
Deciding to push those thoughts out of my head for the moment, since I already had plenty to keep it occupied and didn't need anymore, I followed Oak.
The two of us passing through what would be the center of town before arriving at the main complex of his home/lab/ranch, which took us all of just fifteen minutes to do.
Reaching the main complex the two of us went inside, and then Oak guided me to a waiting room. Where the two of us sat down in chairs, opposite of each other.
"Before we continue our talk, can I offer you anything to drink? Water, coffee?" Oak asked me.
"I would like some water please." I replied. Since I'm thirsty as hell.
"No problem." Oak replied. "Excuse me a minute then." He said.
Oak then got up and left the room, returning a few moments later with two cups of water. One of which he handed to me and I drank entirely without any hesitation. "Ah, that hit the spot." I said, after I finished drinking. I then moved to put the cup down on the table in front of me. Only to stop when I saw my reflection in its surface. Since the face that I was seeing was not my own. No. Instead it was the face of a young teenager with red-colored hair and amber-colored eyes.
Which shouldn't be, since I am 26 years old with brown hair and brown eyes, unless...
'So it looks like not only did the ROB send to me a new world but de-aged me and gave me a new face and looks as well.'I thought. Still staring at my new reflection in the glass.
Which now that I had been looking at for a few seconds reminded me of a character from an anime called K Project, whose name is Mikoto Suoh.
No actually I lookjustlike him. Which I know for damn sure isn't random.
Seems the ROB has a strange sense of humor.
Crazy bastard.
"My boy are you okay?" Oak asked me.
"Hm, yes. Sure." I said. Putting the glass down finally. "I just got lost in my thoughts for a moment." I replied. Which is not a lie. Technically.
"Well that's understandable considering the state I found you in. And if it nots too much trouble would you mind telling me exactly how you came to be in that state?" Oak spoke.
"Sure, no problem professor." I replied. I then got ready to unleash the bullshit story I had concocted while Oak and I made our way here from the forest. "You see I never knew my parents. I was abandoned by them as a child and grew up in an orphanage. Where life wasn't too hard, but it wasn't the best either. And as someone who always wanted more for himself at the first chance I got I began looking for ways to rise up in the world. That is when I encountered Pokemon battles and trainers. And seeing them sparked something within me. Not only so I could make a better life for myself with my own two hands, but also to challenge myself. So with that I made the decision to become a Pokemon trainer in the future. But coming from a small town that didn't even have a gym or a Pokemon center I knew I would need to make my way here to see you to even have a slim chance of making my dream a reality. So I began working odd jobs and saving up funds. Then when I felt I had a enough I felt my home town and started making the journey here to Pallet. But I underestimated several aspects of the trip and in the end I used up all the money I had saved and even had to give up some other things just to survive. Leaving me with only the clothes on my back. That's why you found me in the forest earlier. It's where I slept last night since I didn't have any money to pay for an inn, no supplies, and there as no nearby Pokemon center around." I spoke. Making sure to generate some tears to really sell the backstory I had come up with.
And judging by the sadden look Oak now sported on his face it worked like a charm.
Yes!
I mean I know I should feel bad about putting one over on Professor Oak but I don't. Since I really am that desperate here.
"Oh, you poor lad. What a life you've lived." Oak said.
"Please, don't pity me professor. I've had enough of that to last a lifetime." I told him. "Instead can we just please move on to the matter at hand. Will you assist me in becoming a Pokemon trainer?"
"Why yes, of course." Oak replied.
"Really? Truly?" I asked.
"Yes." Oak replied. "Because for you to go through all of that to get a chance at being a trainer shows me what kind of determination you have. And that will take you a long way on your journey. It also shows me a glimpse at your character. One which I like. So of course I will help you become a Pokemon trainer lad."
"Thank you professor." I replied. Putting a huge grin on my face.
Since this means my childhood dream of becoming a Pokemon trainer is finally about to be made into reality.
Ah, this might just be the happiest day of my entire life.
Well I guess lives now technically, even though I've just started living my second one.
Which I can say for certainty will never be boring. Because you know, Pokemon and all.
"It's no trouble. For helping and nurturing the next generation of young trainers of the responsibility of us of the older generation." Oak said. "But before we moved forward anymore I do need to know how old you are?"
"I'm sixteen years old." I answered without thinking.
Something inside of me just telling me that answer was the correct one.
ROB strikes again.
"Ah, so just one year over the starting age of most trainers. Not too bad." Oak mused.
Meanwhile I focused in on the fact that Pokemon trainers start at the age of fifteen in this world instead of ten. But in retrospect it makes perfect sense. I mean who would really allow young children to travel across the world and deal with fantastical beasts that could destroy an entire city if angered or mistreated in just the wrong way once.
Granted, teenagers are still not that responsible, but they are way more responsible than ten years old so it works when concerning Pokemon trainers. Anime world logic and all that.
But now knowing that I'm even more curious to know how old Ash is. Since if he can't legally start his journey in this world until he is fifteen years old then that means I have time to prepare for all the shit that starts when he begins his journey in the future. Not that I'm thinking of getting directly involved with any of that. Oh no. I'm leaving resolving those issues to Ketchum with his protagonist powers. But I live by the saying it betters to be safe than sorry. Meaning if I do happened to get caught up in any of Ash's future shenanigan's I want to be more than prepared to respond to them.
"And I'm a bit embarrassed to be asking this so late, but what is your name?" Oak asked me.
As he did I thought about it, and found I couldn't remember my own name. Again, definitely courtesy of ROB. So with that I decided to go with the name of the character I apparently now look like.
"Mikoto. Mikoto Suoh." I replied. My words rolling right off the tongue and actually feeling utterly natural.
Which was unexpected. But not unwelcomed.
Sure, there's a lot I need to figure out and a lot I need to get done, but overall I can't say I hate this new life of mine.
Not at all.
So look out Pokemon world, Mikoto Suoh is here and I hope you're ready for me.
