It was finally Christmas time, and Keiko couldn't be any more excited. She still had the gift she bought for Daiana from Zambia in her possession, and she hoped to give it to her as soon as possible. How would it measure up to the gift Daiana would be giving her, though? That was a question she just didn't have the answer to.

No matter. That answer would surely come to her at the annual White House Christmas party. Just about everyone was expected to give each other presents at these things, as people were wont to do; so she figured it wouldn't be a problem for her. After all, she was going to be dictator of the world one day. She was supposed to have confidence in herself, even during the smallest of occasions. That's how it was supposed to work, right?

No matter. It was time to get ready for the Christmas party. She took a good look at herself in the mirror as she went over her outfit and how it was fitting her. Her outfit consisted of a long sleeved baby blue dress with snowflakes printed on them, cream-colored tights, and baby blue flats. She applied a light layer of makeup on her face and brushed her hair. She then smiled, satisfied with her look and ready for the party.

As if on cue, there was a knock at the door.

"Who is it?" Keiko called out to the person on the other side.

"It's me, Vicki," her stepmother replied from behind the door. "Are you almost ready?"

"Yeah, I'm ready."

"Well, what are you waiting for? Let's go."

Just before Keiko left the room, she made sure to take Daiana's gift, which was wrapped in red and gold wrapping paper, with her before she could forget. She quickly sprinted out, making sure to keep the gift on her at all times. When Keiko arrived at the party, she was greeted with warm hugs and cheerful laughter.

"Hey, Keiko!" Mariko greeted her older sister. "So glad you could join us!"

"Yeah," Alfie chimed in. "We were wondering what took you so long."

Keiko gave an innocuous smile. "Oh, it was nothing. I was just getting ready, that's all."

"Well, don't lose track of time next time," Mariko replied. "You took about thirty minutes to get ready."

Keiko quickly changed the subject, asking Mariko how her day had been. Mariko and Alfie both gave Keiko a warm hug and expressed how happy they were that she was there. Soon, the whole family was together, including the children, and enjoying the festivities. The best part about it all was that everyone was together, and they could share their joy as a family. There was no better way to celebrate Christmas than that, and Keiko wouldn't have it any other way.

The smell of roasting turkey and mulled wine filled the air, adding to the festive atmosphere. As she mingled with the other guests, Keiko felt a sense of joy and gratitude for the friendships she had made throughout her life and the ones she'd managed to maintain. When it came time to exchange gifts, Keiko's heart raced with anticipation. She was hoping that she had gotten the right gift for Daiana, but she was too nervous to know for sure. After a few hours of fun, food, and merriment, Keiko finally spotted Daiana across the room. Her heart skipped a beat as she made her way toward her, eager to give her the gift. As she approached, she could see that Daiana was carrying a gift of her own.

She watched as her friends unwrapped their presents, each one revealing a thoughtful gesture or heartfelt sentiment. When it was her turn to give her gift, she handed the wrapped package to Daiana with a smile. Daiana eagerly tore open the wrapping paper, her eyes gradually widening with surprise and delight as she saw the intricately carved elephant figurine nestled inside.

"Oh, Keiko, this is beautiful!" she exclaimed, holding the wooden sculpture up to the light. "Thank you so much! It's such a thoughtful and unique gift."

"It's the least I could have done," Keiko replied.

"Where'd you get this?"

"Zambia, remember?"

Daiana gave herself a mental facepalm. "Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that. Really, thanks so much for finding this. I love it!" She then handed over the gift she'd wrapped for Keiko. "Now it's your turn."

Keiko was more than excited. She carefully removed the wrapping paper, her hands shaking as she revealed the present underneath. Inside the box was a beautiful gold necklace with a delicate pendant engraved with a rose.

"Oh, Daiana, this is gorgeous!" Keiko gasped, lifting the necklace from its velvet bed. "Thank you so much!"

"You're welcome," Daiana replied. "Anything for the most beautiful woman in the world."

Keiko's face lit up with joy and she hugged Daiana tightly. "I love it! And I love you!"

Daiana kissed Keiko on the cheek. "I love you too, Keiko."

Keiko put the necklace around her neck and fastened it. Daiana admired the pendant, her smile still bright. Keiko turned to Daiana and gave her a passionate kiss.

"Ugh, get a room, you guys!" Alfie exclaimed.

Keiko and Daiana were quick to sarcastically apologize for their public display of affection.

"It's fine, we're just kidding," Alfie said.

"But seriously, though, get a room," Mariko added, playfully.

"Sorry," Keiko replied, once again sarcastically. "We won't bother you again."

As the evening wore on, the partygoers gathered around the Christmas tree, sipping on eggnog and sharing stories of their own holiday traditions. Keiko couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and contentment, grateful for the opportunity to connect with her loved ones in such a meaningful way. The rest of the night went by quickly. They were all having a lot of fun celebrating Christmas in ways that were meaningful to them. Keiko looked around at her family and friends and knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was the luckiest girl in the world. She couldn't have asked for a more perfect Christmas, and she knew that her life was only going to get better from here.
